dragonlovewater -Awe! Thank you so much! And I can't make any promises (; but I think you'll like my ending.
zombiw4queen - Ye. He is.
obsessive360 - Super confusing- I'm just trying to roll with it. And I think clockwork would do more than facepalm- Like, if I were CW I'd just slappabish
JenThe Scribe - Sam's entire roll in the show was to be the not-dumbass of the group (^~^) AND, just because I can rub it in since I'm the author - I knowwwwww (w) inyoface- lol sorry.
Randomness-sama - I apologize for the last-minute confusion - but how else would I keep you guys hanging on my every word ;) lol. Here, I wipe your tears wif my kissees: mwha xx
mpwtl125 - Thanks for your support, dude! Means the world- I hope you enjoy
Alexzandria747 - You would not believe how many people do that amnesia thing. I mean, it's a great plot twist, but if someone was just conked in the head hard enough that it's even a possibility, I'd like to hope that you focus on a.) the recklessness of the character or b.) beating the crap outta whoever did that to 'em as pay-back (lol) Oh well. Thank you so much for your review - your reviews make me so happy, like, I read them aloud in the car to my mom whenever I'm on mobile checking in on things.
The Talent - Being cliche is like MY ghostly obsession ;) Hon, you have been here from the start, and it means so much that you're so faithful, even when I'm absent or forgetful. Thank you so much.
PhantomFanForever - Figured you would be, lol, meh bad. Sorry not sorry ;)
EmeraldSeaGamer - I'm glad I've got your attention ;) I hope you enjoy
Sophia the daughter of Nyx - Awesome! Glad you like it! Hope I make everyone happy with this chapter.
LunarCatNinja - Another one who's been here from the get-go! Thanks for being so awesome and continuing to review, especially while I had to take a few breaks and get my head screwed on right again. You mean the world. And I agree, and so does Sam ;) I'm sure it'll all work out, though... hopefully ;)
The Howling Behemoth - You'll be sitting on the edge of your seat, bud - I'll knock that nonchalance right off your reviews ;) ;)
diseptiv - Yeah, Sam agrees with you I'm sure. but don't worry. I won't make you hate me... that much.
Sorry for all the winky faces, I'm feeling a bit coy today.
OKAY! So, I would've had this done sooner, except as soon as I wanted to save it, decided I wasn't logged in. (-_-). The internet hates me. But, in my anger, I got to write a different story, which was nice. Someone wanted me to make a prequel to it. Which made my day. First Frozen fanfic, and I'm glad people liked it. So, sorry about my anger-induced break. Ugh. I think this is the last chapter. Yup. And if it is, and you want an epilogue or a sequel, I read all reviews and PMs. I love all you guys too much to not give you what you ask for ('w^) , (except when it comes to plot.)
Also, I love how angry all of you guys got at me! Er, um, Phantom? But I mean, everyone's pissed at John Green, so I figure if you're pretty okay at writing, you're bound to piss readers off. Maybe I'm just being a little cocky ;). I hope you all know that as mean as I could be to you guys, I don't plan to be... Unless I did a good ending bad ending thing? That'd be fun... But, no, I'll just be nice and only give you the good ending.
Wednesday was quickly approaching.
That was obvious to everyone.
Thankfully, though, Sam and Danny had completely dropped their argument. They both knew it was Danny's decision, and they both knew what Sam thought of it. This, however, didn't prevent them from shooting each other glares whenever Danielle would ask "when are we going home, daddy?" And Daddy didn't have an answer.
Danny was healing, slowly but surely. On Monday, his nerves were only three inches apart. This didn't help the pain he felt whenever he tried to feel his legs, but it gave him a bit of that necessary hope.
Though, hope, truly, has nothing to do with joy.
Danny, as Phantom, was now able to shift between his booted feet, to his tail. Because of this, he had begun flying around the halls in an attempt to reacquaint himself with the air. When he wasn't practicing his flying, or dead asleep, he was crutching himself throughout the palace at the highest speeds he could manage, trying to build his upper body strength back up.
It was Tuesday during one of the moments when Phantom was practicing flying down the main hall that he noticed his class and the chaperons walking towards the dining room. Instantly, he turned himself invisible, wanting to avoid interacting with them as much as possible.
As soon as they were out of sight, he began to race about the halls again. He didn't know why they were out and about, but he also didn't really want to know. They were doing something, easing their restlessness, and that was enough for him. He continued to race about, creating icicles and sticking them to the ceiling to practice his agility. Eventually, he found himself being stopped by a few awe-struck voices in the middle of one of his laps. He looked down to find only his classmates, returning from their outing.
"Um, hello?" he said unsure of himself.
"Yo, Phantom, dude! What's up? Why didn't you save us?" Baxter yelled up to him. Danny groaned before floating down, leaving himself hovering a few feet off the ice. He thought a moment of a good lie, that was something he legitimately would've done had he been the Phantom that lived in the Zone, as all assumed he was.
"Well, you guys know Trechor was out and all- I had to make sure all the other ghosts were safe. This is my home- I couldn't just let my neighbors suffer where they could be found and harmed."
"Yeah, but what about us?" Mikey called bravely. "Ghosts have powers like you, remember?"
"But we're as powerless to each other as humans are to humans. Yeah, we have abilities, but some ghosts are just stronger than others. That's why I can't just get rid of that pirate punk in one blast. It's no more damage than punching him. The ghost zone to you, is like the human world is to us. And besides, you had Fenton helping you." He chuckled, "I trust that kid- he knows how to handle you guys pretty well."
"But he got really hurt, dude!" Kwan replied. "We haven't seen him since we got here!"
Danny sighed. "Trechor is really strong, guys. Any one who dare fight him would easily get as hurt as Fenton did, if not worse. I would've been in the same boat Fenton would've had I fought Trech'." This caused everyone to mutter among themselves quietly. "Trechor could've easily destroyed every ghost in the Zone if he wasn't stopped. Or worse..." Danny muttered, thinking of the horrors that would've come had Trechor stolen the Crown. "It's best that he's gone and Fenton is hurt. If Fenton didn't get rid of him, who knows how many people would've been a lot worse off than he is." Danny tried to defend himself by crediting himself, scared of what an angry mob of kids might do to him.
"What made Fenton so strong anyway? How was he able to lift all those rocks and beat up Trechor? After he got burned, too!" Dash accused.
"Here." Danny replied. He thought long and hard about his answer, hoping no more questions would be raised. They all knew Danny had come here before- he couldn't have saved them otherwise. They all knew he was strong and durable, but how he became that way, they didn't know. It seemed alright for Phantom to say he trusted the kid, but never any further. He stumbled a bit in his thoughts before adding, "Well, here and your world. I know he isn't the most likable kid." Perhaps that would lead them to believe his endurance was simply from his bullies? Hopefully. "Look, guys, I've got to go. I've got a few spirits to see and some work outs and all that. You should head back to your room."
Everyone obeyed, scared of the ghost kid, but also respectful of him. Danny smiled, before floating up and off. The adults were probably taking longer wherever they were, so he let it be, rushing off to his room and trying to get some rest.
He had some big decisions to make.
"Danny?" Sam asked, knocking on the door, careful not to let herself phase through. Danny woke up immediately at the sound and told her to come in. "Hey," she greeted.
"Hey," Danny replied, giving her a gentle but tense smile, relaxing some when Tucker appeared behind her, Dani resting on his shoulders. "Hey, Tuck. Hey, Dani."
"Hey, dude," Tucker replied with a gentle smile. "How're you?"
"I'm a-okay, guys. Don't worry about it," Danny said sincerely, flinching, however, when Sam brushed her hand against his foot.
"Sorry," Sam suddenly replied to his reaction. He nodded, giving a smile, before Dani gently crawled off of Tucker and onto her father's bed.
She gave him a small hug, saying, "I missed you! When will we get to play again?"
"Soon, sugar-skull," he replied, smiling and ruffling her hair. She gave him a sleepy grin, before cuddling down next to him.
"She's been having nightmares," Sam said when she was sure her daughter was asleep. "We thought maybe a night with Daddy would be helpful? If she hurts you, I'll take her straight back to our room."
"No, no, she's fine." Danny replied easily, taking off her beanie, and settling her between his chest and arm protectively.
"Okay. So long as you're sure, dude." Tucker replied. "When we get home, maybe we should all have a sleepover together at the tree fort. Might help those nightmares go away."
"Yeah," Danny said thoughtfully. "When everyone gets home, she'll be able to fly to any of us if she has a bad dream."
"True," Sam mumbled. "She'd be able to get to you quicker, though, if..." Sam cut herself off, deciding not to make an argument of it now.
"It's still my choice, honey." Danny warned, before yawning and inviting them to all stay in his room for the night.
"Sounds great," Tucker said.
"Yeah. I miss being together with both of my boys." Sam said, happy that Danny's warning didn't mean he was mad at her. They excused themselves to see if they could push their beds into Danny's hospital room. Danny gave a wistful sigh, debating his decision. He smiled upon hearing Frostbite's footsteps in the hall. He placed his hands over Danielle's ears, before calling out to him.
"Frostbite?"
Frosty instantly came into the room, and rested at the side of his bed. "Yes?" Frostbite asked quietly.
Danny paused a moment, before making up his mind. "I want you to organize a meeting for me tomorrow morning. Each leader of every tribe in the Ghost Zone, along with those who have their own individual islands."
"Consider it done. It shall be held at ten o'clock, then?"
"That's perfect. Thank you." Danny said, excusing the monarch. Danny decided in that moment that he, too, was a monarch. He wouldn't be as strict with appearances as Frostbite, and wouldn't be as cruel as the kings of past. He wouldn't be as narrow-minded as the Observants either. He would be a respected figure. He would receive input from all involved Ghosts before making any major decisions. He would allow visitors of any kind, and would not fear any plot they may have. Because he would be a kind, gentle, and respectfully feared leader. Stern, and loving. He would treat every ghost with the same care and respect he treated his daughter. And that meant one thing...
"Now, I present to each of you, your new king, Daniel Phantom," Frostbite introduced respectfully, before stepping off the platform. Danny looked at the clock that read "10:02" before looking out on all of the spirited faces that lined the meeting hall.
"Um, yeah, thank you," Danny began, stumbling on his crutches to the podium. You could hear a pin drop as the pathetic new king made his way towards the front. He looked on the hundreds of faces, before giving a deep breath and beginning.
"I guess I'm king now, huh?" Clockwork gave a chuckle at the boy's straight-forwardness. "No, really, I don't know too much about politics. I don't know what you all expect from your leaders. I just don't know." Danny continued. "But, I do know, that because I have the power of a king, you all fear me. I could sentence you to your fate, and you all know that. Well..." Danny stumbled a moment. "I don't want you guys to fear me. I know I'm king or whatever, and I have new powers and strengths and all that, but look at me! Could I hurt any of you right now?" After a moment of silence, Danny began again. "Okay, look. I don't want to take your freedom away from you. I don't want you listening to my rules because you're scared of me. That makes me a dictator, which I refuse to be. This is why I have decided that I will not make it illegal for you to travel back and forth between worlds as you please. I will request that you are considerate of others while in that zone. You are the guest of the human realm while you are there, and I want you all to be polite guests. But each of you was built for different things. You all have your own quirks and goals and whatnot. I get it. I'm not going to take your right to travel away from you. However, I will warn you, if you do disturb the human world, you'll be answering to their Danny Phantom. But you won't answer to King Phantom by any means. I have two jobs. One is to keep you guys safe, free, happy, and as spirited as ever. The other will be to protect people. I won't let those jobs get mixed up. Okay.
"Look, I want you guys to respect me. And I know some of you know I'm a fighter, and respect that of me. Thank you. That's all I ask. You never have to like me, or even agree with me. But you do have to respect that I was given this job for a reason, one I don't know yet, and neither do you.
"I guess the last thing I want to say is that if you guys want to talk to me about anything; if I made a bad political decision, if I wasn't fair or I did something you want me to reconsider, just come talk to me. I'm fine with that. Just come talk with me. I can't promise things will change, but I can promise that I want you guys happy and safe." Also, if you abuse this invitation, I'll abuse your face, Danny thought with a chuckle. "So, yeah. I hope it works out. My doors are always open, but I'm not afraid to defend myself or you guys if need be. This is my home too. I just want what's best. Okay?"
Slowly, applause began to fill the once deadly-silent air. Danny smiled at each of his foes and friends, before limping his way back out of the room. He was worn, and he couldn't wait to get some rest.
"Snow Fort," Danny addressed on his way out, "All of our guests to the zone are to leave at three o'clock sharp. You are to use the infi-map to take them home."
"You will be able to go at three, then?" Snow Fort asked in his prince voice.
"Whether I am there or not, you are to escort the group to the Fenton Portal using the infi-map at three o'clock precisely." Danny replied, his own regal tone showing.
Snow Fort was taken back for a moment, before replying, "Yes, sir."
Snow Fort told his father of his instructions, wondering what to do. Frostbite had hummed and looked at his confused son.
"Snowy," Frostbite said, using the nickname he reserved for when the pair was alone. "The King of the Zone should never be disobeyed. . . But, Danny is merciful and kind. . ."
"I won't end up like Mom if I go against him, Dad." Snow Fort replied to the unspoken concern. "Danny isn't the Observants."
Frostbite paused, hanging his head. "I'm aware, my son." He grumbled, going through every detail in his mind. What was Mister Fenton to think if they went home without his boy? Frostbite would gladly tear into the throats of whoever dare leave his son in an unknown land. But Phantom was a father too, and he wouldn't do a thing without the best interests of his family at heart. Right? "Heed him and show him you respect him as a leader, not just an ally."
Snow Fort nodded and turned to retrieve some supplies, before looking back at his father again. "Hey, Dad?"
"Yes, cub?" Frostbite asked sincerely.
"I... um, well, I..." He gulped before continuing with new confidence. "There's this girl... We're going to eat and take a walk together this Friday."
Frostbite looked a tad taken back. "You want to court this girl?"
"Yeah. Well, at least, I'll figure if I do or not this Friday at our date. I think you'll like her. She's like mom, but a bit more reserved," Snow Fort informed his dad, who smiled and ruffled his white fur.
"Atta boy," Frostbite praised, all kingly formality gone and replaced by the slang he used behind his own father's back as a teenager. Snow Fort's smile couldn't have been bigger. Frostbite gave him a wink before returning to his regal stature, "Every prince has a naughty streak, my son. It is his father's job to squash it before it takes over his entire being." He winked again, "Though, it never really goes away."
Snow Fort gave a vigorous nod. He couldn't remember connecting that much with his dad since he was a puppy and his only job was to crawl on his father's back and gnaw on the ice there. He couldn't help but smile. This, he felt, was the best day in his life. He had a feeling that he wouldn't be asked to use his prince-voice so much around his peers anymore.
"He told you what?" Sam asked, a razor-sharp edge to her voice.
"I was commanded to escort you all home at precisely three o'clock," Snow Fort reiterated. "And I can't just not listen. I respect the guy, and he's my dad's closest ally- not to mention the king of the whole Zone!"
"But he's also a pig-headed, brain-dead, irresponsible, twerpish little teenager!" Sam growled, pulling at her hair.
"Kings of the Zone are not like kings of your world, Sam," Snow Fort countered. "If he's declared king, he's been fully equipped for the job for a while. The Zone knows. And besides, you don't know that he's staying in his room past three."
"He's not here, is he?" Sam questioned cynically. Snow Fort looked down at her past his snout and sighed.
"Sam, I know you're scared. But he loves you, and you have to trust him." Snow Fort said evenly. "I know it's scary and hard to trust a person- I mean, they are just a person. Danny is very capable of making mistakes. But, because he loves you so much, every decision he makes will be in the best interest of his family."
Sam was silent, pushing back tears as she looked to the prince who knelt before her. Snow Fort knew she didn't intend to say anything, for fear it would come out a strangled sob, so he put his huge white furry arms around her in a hug. Sam gave a teary chuckle. She whispered, "Can you be one of my boys, too?" Snow Fort nodded eagerly.
"I already believed I was. A long-distance boy, perhaps, but one of yours, none-the-less." Sam chuckled and forced herself to stop tearing up. She gave Snow Fort an unspoken thanks, before pacing across the hall.
"I'm here, guys," Tuck yelled to Sam and Snow Fort, Danielle sitting on his shoulders.
"Finally," Sam teased as she took the little girl into her arms. "How are you, then, pumpkin?"
Suddenly, Tucker couldn't stop himself from cracking up. Sam jumped at the sudden laughter before asking pointedly, "What's so funny?"
"Y-you," Tucker couldn't contain his laughter, "Y-you call-l y-your pl-plants," he laughed again, "peo-people names; a-and," more chuckles, "y-you call y-your people-le plant na-names!" he finally exclaimed.
While Snow Fort lost it at this observation, Sam gave him an odd look. He couldn't decided if it was amusement, anger, or the very common wow-you're-such-an-idiot face. Perhaps a combination of the three? He received his answer, when Sam covered her daughter's ears and responded, "You're a dumbass."
Tucker continued to laugh, struggling to breathe properly. "The-the others a-are on the-their way," Tuck informed, before losing it again.
Sam rolled her eyes as Danielle began to laugh at Tucker's humor-induced hyperventilation. "Thank you, Tucker," Sam replied to the information. Tucker heaved out something that sounded a bit like "no problem", although he could've been complaining about possums.
Slowly, all of the students began to file their way into the hall. Sam's parents and Mr. Lancer followed. Everyone sat down and allowed themselves to be counted by Sam, until the only three people who weren't present were Danny and his parents. "Oh no." Sam said quietly.
"Sam, whatever choice he makes, he'll make sure it works out for the best," Tucker said evenly.
"What if he thought people knew? How would that affect all this?" Sam whispered fearfully.
"Sam, the fact is, he probably came up with that idea from the fear that people were figuring it out." Tuck replied. "You have to trust him." Sam stayed silent. "Come on! Hasn't he saved our lives enough time that you trust him by now?"
"I do trust him. But people make bad choices when they let fear grab them."
"You're forgetting, Sam," Tuck replied, "The entire reason we're in this mess is because Danny won against fear twice. He got roughed up pretty bad in the process - as anyone would've. But he did win."
Sam gnawed on this, watching Dani play on the spikes of ice that were Snow Fort's shoulder blades.
"Whatever choice he made, we'll just have to deal with it, huh?" Sam muttered.
"Yeah."
"What if we lose him? What if because he's not around his family, friends, school, every aspect that reminds him he's Fenton, he forgets he's Fenton?" Sam whispered so no one could hear.
"We have to keep that from happening. He won't become Dan, okay? He knows better."
"Okay," Sam trailed off.
Sam couldn't keep herself from hyperventilating when her watch showed 2:59. She couldn't keep tears from building up in her eyes when Danny's parents finally arrived at thirty seconds past 2:59. They had tears on their faces, and Sam felt she was going to explode. He couldn't have.
No.
No.
No.
She held onto Tucker, burying her face in his shoulder, waiting for the fatal second to arrive. Finally, Snow Fort alerted them all of it.
"It's precisely three o'clock, everyone. I need you all to join hands an-"
"Wait!" a strained voice called. Tucker nudged Sam and she looked up.
Danny Fenton was limping himself across the hall, crutches firmly in his hands. He was breathing heavy, smiling as Sam and Danielle hugged him and Tuck put a hand on his shoulder.
"Wait-" Sam questioned. "Why are you guys crying?" she asked Mr. and Mrs. Fenton.
"Well..." Maddie trailed off.
"We wanted to see if that Monsieur guy really knew what he was doing when he was cooking human food. So, for lunch, we asked him to make us some Mexican food with extra kick. Just to see if he knew regions and all that of our world."
"Very very spicy," Maddie commented. "He must've traveled in our world some. Right? Or maybe he knows a Mexican ghost?"
"Maybe he is a Mexican ghost!" Jack exclaimed. Danny chuckled at them, before looking to Sam.
"I won't ever let you down." He said, reestablishing the connection for the first time all week. Both Sam and Tucker sighed at how good it felt to have it back again, despite feeling the fear and exhaustion Danny gave off. The pain he felt when he should've felt his legs was obviously tiring him out. They raised their brows and questioned his condition. Danny gave them a solid nod before turning to Snow Fort. "I'm afraid I've held you back from what I originally had asked you to do. So, by all means, continue, your majesty," Danny said respectfully. Snow Fort gave them a toothy grin, before re-commanding everyone to join hands.
"Take us there," Snow Fort commanded, pointing to the Fenton Portal. Everyone's grip tightened as the Infimap flew them throughout the Ghost Zone. They weaved in between rocks and islands and natural portals, before finally coming face to face with the familiar metal door frame. Danny smiled, turning to Snow Fort. He let go of his crutches to put his fists together and bow to the prince. Sam and Tucker loosely held him up, while doing the same. Snow Fort mirrored the gesture. "A short life to you," Snow Fort smiled.
Danny gave a small chuckle, "And I wish you a long, sweet death." They smiled at each other, "I'll see you soon," Danny assured him, before turning to the group and nodding. Danny breathed deep, before stepping through the portal. Sam, Tuck, and Dani followed encouraging the rest of the group to.
Jazz had been sitting in her basement for far too long. She had positioned a chair against the far wall so she could stare at the portal or read by it's light. She was reading when the door opened. She dropped her book and stood, her eyes growing wide as her brother stepped into the lab. He breathed heavily, adjusting his crutches some before looking up and seeing his big sister.
All pain from the unusable legs forgotten, he couldn't have propelled himself across the room faster. He found himself flailing, falling into his big sister's arms. "You were safe?" he asked her, tears lining his voice.
"Safer than you!" Jazz countered, although a smile was on her face. She hugged her little brother, and ignored the tears she felt on her shoulder for his sake. He gave a heavy breath, smiling, and looking back to the group that had followed him. He chuckled, before hugging his big sister again. "You're home now," she promised. "It's okay." Danny nodded, cursing himself for even thinking of leaving his life here in Amity. No. He needed his home. He needed his big sister, who fretted over him, and worried about his mental stability, and could be pushy, but was the best secret-keeper in the world.
Sam, Dani, and Tucker stood near them, but stayed back some ways, knowing how important Jazz was to her brother (despite how often he could complain about her.) Mr. and Mrs. Fenton watched their children from afar, not realizing how close they were. Of course, they wanted to hug their daughter too- as well as their son, whom had been missing from them for several days, but they could wait. They would wait. Their children didn't need parents, so much as they needed each other, it seemed. Well, each other and their friends, who were invited to join the hug after a few minutes.
"Is this Danielle?" Jazz asked suddenly. Danny gave her a proud smile.
"Yep," he grinned. "That's Dani."
"Hi, Aunt Jazz," Danielle whispered as her aunt hugged her tightly.
"You're a very beautiful little lady," Jazz said wistfully and watery-eye'd.
Danny gave a watery chuckle, before looking behind him again. He blinked back all emotions, before smiling at them. "Come on. I'll escort you guys to the school," he invited happily. He stepped away from his sister and friends, before positioning his crutches on the first stair. He gave a deep breath, before pushing himself up onto it. Slowly but surely, he made his way up the stairs. His determined smile soon turned into an exhausted frown, gasping for air. He growled it away, trying to push himself onto the fifteenth step. Only seven more. Sam and Tuck ran up beside him, and helped him make it the rest of the way, after his exhaustion became palpable. Jazz and Danielle followed behind, making sure that if he fell, he wouldn't topple all the way back to the basement floor. Finally they made it to the top, and Danny gave them a tired but grateful grin.
"Thanks," he breathed, before sucking up his energy again and calling to the basement, "Come on up guys- the sooner we get to the school, the sooner you guys can go home!"
The students easily climbed the steep stairs, followed by the chaperons. Danny gave them a sincere smile and lead them out the door and down the sidewalk.
Mr. and Mrs. Fenton stayed inside, though Danny could hear them discussing from outside the closed door.
"What happened to our son?"
"I don't know, Mads. But I know that the Zone caused it somehow."
"What should we do? Do we ground him, prohibit him from ever going into the Zone?"
"No. I don't think so."
"Why not, Jack?"
"Because, whatever happened to our son in there, maybe it wasn't a good thing. Maybe it wasn't a safe thing. But, I think it's changed him for the better."
"But what if he gets hurt, Jack?"
"If he does, he'll heal. Whatever happened to him in there is worth all the hurt and the agony and whatever it is that's gone on in there! Our son has grown up. He's a man now because of that place. And he's a good man at that. That's something that's worth all the boo-boos in the world, Mads. And as much as I want to protect him, he's proven that he can protect himself and others better than anyone else can. Better than that ghost kid, even! I don't know what's happened to him in there, but it's something we could never have done. So, I think we should let him make his own decisions about this one."
"We are his parents though. It's our job to protect him."
"Fine, we'll ground him for breaking the no-going-into-the-zone rule. But only for a weekend. Because he's been protecting us."
"Yes... That's a good idea."
Danny's smile couldn't have been bigger as he lead his class to the school. Sam and Tuck had heard it too through the link, and they were grinning. Danny chuckled again. The pain was slowly building up again, and he knew he'd probably throw up when he got home from exertion; but he didn't care. He was home. With his entire family safe and beside him. Tucker felt him getting a tad weaker, and put his arm around his brother. They shared a grin, and Sam smiled at her boys. She made sure everyone was far behind them (even when Danny couldn't use his legs did they walk faster than everyone else), before placing a soft kiss on Danny's lips. Danny chuckled at her, kissing her forehead gingerly. With everything he had, Danny wanted to wrap his arms around his two best friends and kiss the top of both of their heads as he did what felt like centuries ago. But the crutches kept him from it. So, he merely continued walking, sending the idea of it through each of their heads. They shared a smile again, continuing a much more somber walk than the ones they'd had while in the Zone.
Jazz looked at their grins and knew they'd heard something, but she didn't care too much to ask yet. She was far too enamored with her niece. The little girl was as cuddly and noble as her father; as strong-willed and caring as the little black-haired girl that had been drawing chalk figures on the sidewalk in front of the Fenton household since she was seven; and as humorous and reliable as the little boy in the too-big red hat that had knocked on Jazz's door asking for help when Danny had a nightmare at their first sleepover. Jazz's three best friends combined in one, whether from genetics or exposure. Jazz chuckled. Her friends had come and gone, as she was entirely too wrapped up in school work and her baby brother as a child. But her little brother stayed. As did his friends. And they had become her friends, slowly. And she had missed them. God, she had missed them.
Danielle sat on her aunt's shoulders, bouncing in excitement.
She was home.
They were all home.
This was going to be the most perfect next-chapter of her life.
Please review if you want an epilogue. I have another story in mind that I think I'll try. I hope you guys enjoyed. I loved writing this and hearing from each of you. I'm kinda sad to be writing this, but also kinda glad. You guys are what made this story fun for me. I can have an idea in my head, and spend months thinking about it and adding to it before I fall asleep. But the only reason I'd ever write it down is you guys. I want to make you guys happy and I want to make you guys proud.
Okay, so, I wanted to mention that the relationship between Sam and Tuck in this chapter was roughly based on my relationship with one of my best friends Thad. He's a goof and a sweetie, and pretty much every conversation we have ends with me laughing and calling him a dumbass. It's nice to have that kind of friend. He's my theater buddy too. If there's a play I'm going to see, he's the first guy I invite. We were pretty close buds in preschool, but after that he went to kindergarten at that same school and I went to a different preschool because I was so young. I guess 2 years of preschool was in my favor, because I skipped second grade after then. Then the year before this past one, he switched schools, and after I realized who he was, we began hanging out again. Once again, he's by best bud- honestly, I think of him as my big brother. I tell him pretty much everything.
Speaking of that, I want to dedicate this story.
Maddie [my one and only sister], Macray (Thad) [The big brother I always wanted], Michael (whom only I am allowed to call Mikey), Ava [my first real best friend] , Andie [The best punk DP rapper in the world and the first person to actually help me through a panic attack] , Ally [my kitty cat] , Lindsey [I'm sorry I hated you when we were kids- I love you now], Callie [who taught me that I can be important] {who make up my five girls}, and Sophie [Ava's little sister, who is more similar to me than anyone else]. You guys are my family, much like Danny's, though a bit bigger. I'm so so so excited to be back with you guys this year, and I love you all more than life. Thanks for everything. I missed you all so much. Thanks for letting me be me.
I sincerely hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading.
