I just want all of you AMAZING readers (who have given me the most AMAZING feedback! THANK YOU!) to know that I do not own anything, that the ages are a little jacked up because of the timeline I have started things at, and that I love you all for clicking the link that lead you to this crazy story. Thank all of you that reviewed and/or favorite-ed and/or followed my story.
Important-ish: Soccer season has started up again, and I have either been busy at practice, with homework, or just too tired to write. So most of my chapters are probably going to be a little late... sorry.
Chapter 26: Just Maybe
Three Weeks Later
Everything had started off great. Nicolette had gotten her ankle and wrist braces off, and was able to use crutches- which only seemed to make Christian fret more, watching her come down the stairs on them the first morning nearly gave him a heart attack. And Dr. Greene put her on birth control to regulate her period due to the stress her body went under for the three months she was gone. And then Nicolette got a text from Sona Tuesday morning.
OH MY GOD READ THE DAMN NEWSPAPER! FRONT PAGE! CAN'T MISS IT!
Sona
With a confused look Nicolette got out of bed and the fumbled her way towards her door and down the stairs. Smiling at her mom she turned towards Gail.
"Has the newspaper been brought in yet?" Nicolette asked, Gail chuckled at Nicolette's question.
"Why? Want to become an economics' extraordinaire like your father?" Ana laughed handing Nicolette the still rolled up newspaper as her phone buzzed. As Ana checked her messages Nicolette stared at the front page:
NICOLETTE GREY PREGNANT WITH KIDNAPPER'S BABY
Last Sunday afternoon Nicolette Grey was seen exiting her Doctor's office looking very frazzled with her equally frazzled father and security team. What else could have frazzled the mighty Christian Grey other than the fact that his seventeen year old daughter is pregnant with her now incarcerated kidnapper's child?

"Oh my god. Who would do something like this?" Nicolette breathed.
"Do what baby girl?" Christian asked, making his presence known. Nicolette handed him the newspaper as Ana gasped.
"This!" Nicolette shouted, as quickly as she could have gone Nicolette hobbled out of the kitchen, up the stairs and into her room.
By the time she got to her room her phone was buzzing off the hook. All of her friends in Haven probably got the online update, Max was probably worried sick- he probably hated her by now.
Nicolette felt like she couldn't breathe. Max knew she wasn't pregnant. He took her purse to her in the bathroom when they were at his house last week. He knew that she wasn't pregnant... He knew... Tears kept streaming down her face and that unknown feeling in her took over again. She felt his hands all over her, grime seemed to coat her skin.
Breathe.
In.
Out.
In through the nose.
Out through the mouth.
OK No! Not working! Freaking out more! Nicolette freaked out, she could hear her parents coming into her room.
"Nikki! Nikki! Calm down!" Ana begged.
Moments passed and all Christian and Ana could do was stroke Nicolette's hair and rub her back as she sobbed into Ana's shoulder. But soon her sobs turned to whimpers and whimpers into hiccups before nothing but silence had fallen over them.
"Who could do such a thing?" Nicolette asked.
"Henry Granger wrote the article, I already have him writing a retraction statement." Christian whispered to his daughter. Nicolette's phone began to buzz again and she couldn't help but laugh.
"They're blowing up my phone." She spoke through the giggles.
"Yeah I know. I've already dealt with your grandparents, uncle and aunts." Ana smiled. Nicolette groaned as her phone buzzed again, this time she unlocked her phone and clicked the first name that came up on her messages.
Max.
Nickks answer me!
Four minutes ago he had sent.
Are you upset? It's OK to be upset. Please talk to me babe.
And five minutes before that...
Babe I take it you didn't see my message and saw the newspaper. Don't worry. I know you aren't pregnant and so does everyone in Haven, I've talked to most of the people already.
And the first message he had sent was.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT LOOK AT THE NEWSPAPER!
That would have been helpful twenty minutes earlier, Nicolette sighed and typed a reply.
Yeah, I saw it. You sure you still want to be with a melodramatic, pregnant teen?
Nickki.
Nicolette sighed as she moved on to the next name. Her parents kissed her head once each before excusing themselves to go to work as Nicolette reassured all of her family and friends that she wasn't actually pregnant.
It took longer than she thought, but Max's 'I love you' text, while he was in the middle of a lecture seemed to make everything better.
By noon Nicolette was dressed in black leggings and a long sleeved blue shirt with one brown knee high boot on. She and Max were going on a lunch date, and Nicolette was pretty sure that her father would attempt to crash it.
Nicolette was lead down to the garage where she was buckled into yet another red Audi with Strong and Ryan in the front again.
"Ryan are we still picking Max up from the school?" Nicolette asked.
"Yes, Miss Grey." Ryan smiled as he pulled out of the parking lot. Nicolette grinned, she got enough time to warn Max of her father's possible plans. Ten minutes later they were pulling into the school's parking lot where Max was standing wearing his black dress pants and dark blue button up dress shirt.
Max climbed into the Audi and pressed a kiss to Nicolette's cheek.
"Alright, are you sure you know what you are getting yourself into?" Nicolette asked, her green eyes brimming with worry.
"Nicks. I'd face a thousand versions of you father if it meant being with you." Max whispered pressing a soft kiss to her lips. Throughout the weeks Nicolette had been getting better with physical contact as long as it was Max, the boys, her father, her mother, the rest of the Greys, Grace or Taylor. The rest of the security team had yet to make much progress but Nicolette was able to withstand kisses, hugs and touches from most of her friends and family.
"Soooo, what do you think your father will do to me when he finds us? Give me the hanging sentence?" Max joked.
"So not funny." Nicolette groaned leaning her head against his bicep. After five minutes they arrived at the café where they had chosen to eat.
Lunch had been quiet, almost too quiet. Her father had only sent her a text asking her to be safe and the people didn't seem to be staring. That was until they decided to leave and they were instantly ambushed by the paparazzi.
Nicolette had hissed as flashes surrounded her again. The paparazzi was everywhere, shouting questions towards her as she tried to hide her eyes from the camera and Max started to lead her towards the car.
"Miss Grey! Is he your boyfriend?!"
"Miss Grey! Are you pleased with last month's verdict?!"
"Miss Grey! Are you pregnant with Logan's child!?" That man was awarded a shove from one of the security guards- either Strong or Ryan, Nicolette couldn't tell- under the grounds of being 'too close'.
"Miss Grey! Are you and Mr. Hartsville getting married?!" Another man shouted. Max gave up trying to keep them a good distance from Nicolette and picked her up quickly, so quickly that Nicolette dropped her crutched in favor of wrapping her arms around his neck. Ryan instantly grabbed the crutches from the ground and jogged after Max.
With Christian, Christian's POV
I watched on public television as my daughter and Max exited the café, only to be ambushed by some paparazzi and a TV Gossip Reporter. Everyone was shouting questions at once as Max pushed people out of Nicolette's way. After someone asked if they were getting married, Max grabbed Nicolette and started running toward the car. Ryan and Strong after them. The Audi peeled out of the drive not two minutes later.
"Obviously the two are planning some sort of elope, and don't want the all powerful and totally controlling Christian Grey to ruin their plans." The woman reported, she was African American, and had long curly black hair with matching eyes.
"Obviously Natasha." the reporter that was sitting inside the nice studio said.
"I think that stepping up for the baby and Nicolette is a good thing. She really needs a man like that, Bill." the woman beside 'Bill' said. She was white, with pin straight brown hair and cold brown eyes.
"I know Sarah, I would kill to have a man like that." Natasha joked.
"Aren't you married?" Sarah laughed. Bill made a face.
I glowered at the screen.
"I really wish people would stop saying that Nicolette's pregnant." I sighed, turning towards Taylor who had made his way into my office.
"I'll have another person with Ryan and Strong at all times, sir. But as for the other problem, everyone will realize that she isn't actually pregnant soon. Give it time and people will come to their senses." Taylor advised, I nodded at him.
"Thank you." I sighed, I looked back at the TV, the women and man were still gossiping about Nicolette's "pregnancy".
"I really hope she has a boy, let's her have an older boy before she and that Max guy start having kids. He'll protect the girls." Bill laughed. The women started bickering with him about how girls can protect their younger siblings too.
God, I hope she and Max don't plan on getting married for a while. Much less have kids.
I just got her back. I don't want her to go.
That'd really suck.
She's not even out of High School yet.
She'd need to restart her senior year.
I look over at the admittance forms for Brown's Academy again. They've been sitting on my desk for a month now, an acceptance letter sat underneath them. Her Christmas gift.
I sigh again.
Senior year. I haven't had much time with her.
Not much time at all.
Maybe it's time we have had that counts.
Just maybe.
