Chapter 24: Explaining
"…if she isn't awake soon we have to send her to St Mungos!"
"No! Last time she went there, she got kidnapped!"
"James control yourself! We won't just let her alone! There would be an Auror all the time!"
"But Dad! Please! I can't lose her again!" Who are those two persons? Where was I? Well I couldn't be in St Mungos because they said they would have to send me there if I wouldn't wake up. That is interesting. Aren't I awake now? Maybe I am dreaming this? I tried to pinch myself but my arms wouldn't do what I want. That was bad. All that seemed to work was my ears.
"I know James. And I don't want to see her there but she is now out for more than three weeks!" That was a long time to be out…
"And I know that you can't, but the Healer in the hospital have better resources and more potions. There are people who are specialised for torture victims!" Torture victims? What happened? Who was the victim? Why can't I remember anything? There was a hustling and then I felt a cold hand grabbing mine. Then there was a feeling like something flew through me.
"Well?" asked the younger of the two persons impatiently.
"Nothing has changed. She is in perfect health, well for somebody who spent more than two months as a prisoner." The hand gripped mine harder.
"But I don't know what is wrong. She just won't wake up." I could hear a sigh and then footsteps walking away. I fell asleep shortly after that. The next time I awoke was to a voice calling a name.
"Please! Georgie, please wake up! I don't know if I can take this anymore. First the two months where you were not even here and now this! It has been three weeks! Please just wake up! I need you!" My hand was now held by two hands and I could feel teardrops on them.
"Nobody is the same. We all need you! Louis and Fred don't talk more than needed, Rose and Roxanne are constantly arguing about the most ridiculous things, Albus and Scorpius are now every night in detention, because they are fighting so often. Even Lucy is not her usual bookwormy self. And I think Lily is the worst. You know her, very normal around us but with her cunning side? Well now she is the Slytherin Princess all the time, even around us. Well and then there are my parents and the rest of the clan. Everyone is trying to just live their lives like normal but it isn't working. Mom said that it was a lot like this when my uncle Fred had died. But even a little bit worse because you are laying here… still like a stature. You haven't moved in the whole time you were here. And we can see you and touch, feel the beat of your heart, but we can't talk to you. Uncle Fred was gone, he moved to a better place, but we don't know what is wrong with you.
"Do you know that we heard Minnie growling? We gave her the things you sent and she came out of her office growling like a lioness whose cubs were hurt. You were so clever! To find a way to get to the House Elves! That saved you! We, I mean the boys and I, didn't saw your memory or the parchments. But by what the others say when they forget that we can hear them..." There was a little sob.
"You are so strong! I don't think I would ever withstand for so long! So please wake up! Show those arseholes that you are better than them! That you are stronger! Please!" The boy who held my hand was now crying hard. My hand was getting wetter and wetter. I didn't know who this boy was but I felt like I have to comfort him. I tried to remember how I opened eyes. And slowly, ever so slow, I could open my right eyelid a little bit. But it was so heavy so I closed it again. After a few seconds I tried again and got it open a bit more. I worked for a few minutes until I could open both eye to the middle. It was dark where I was laying. I saw a ceiling with lots of tiles. I had to close my eyes again. The sound of the sobbing boy could be still heard. I took a deep breath and opened them up again. This time they were fully opened. Taking another breath was necessary so that I could turn my head. The boy who clutched my hand in his had black hair. His head hung over my hand and he sat in an uncomfortable looking chair. I had to take all my power but I managed to twitch my little finger. The boy instantly became rigid. I tried again, the twitch was stronger now. He closed his eyes and then slowly lifted his head. After a few seconds he opened them. I looked into the most amazing eyes I had ever seen. They were a warm hazel colour and portrait so much sorrow in this moment. I felt as if I was pulled in by them. It was so strong that I wanted to never look away. But my eyelid grew tired so I had to blink. The next moment I was hugged by the boy who just a few seconds ago was sitting in the chair.
"Oh my Merlin! Georgie you are awake! Are you okay? Are you hurt? I have to get Hannah!" He pulled away and looked at my eyes again. He looked a little bit scared because he couldn't see any emotions.
"George, what is wrong?" I took a few deep breaths before I answered.
"Who is George?" I asked in a broken voice.
"What?" he croaked out.
"Who is George? And who are you? Where are we? What happened?" He looked at me stunned before he got a grip of himself.
"You have no idea what happened? Why you are here?" I shook my head. He looked scared again.
"I have to get Hannah." He got out of his chair but I gripped his hand in mine. I don't know why, but I couldn't let him go. I didn't know who he was but he gave me this feeling of safety and I couldn't let that pass.
"George I have to talk Hannah! She will know what to do! But you have to let go of my hand first." I shook my head with power. He nodded slowly and gently pulled my hand out of his. He looked a last time at me and turned to the curtains. After a few seconds of him gone I felt a little unsettling. With renew strength I got out of the bed and looked out of the curtains. I was a bit shaky on my legs but it would have to do. I saw him walking to a little office at the back of the room. I walked so fast I could and as he raised his hand to knock, I was in his arms. He stumbled back from the shock and then held me.
"What are you doing? You shouldn't be out of bed!" I just clenched my fists in his shirt and shook my head again. He sighed and then pulled his arms away. If possible I held him even tighter in fear he would push me away. He chuckled a bit and then lifted my up like a bride. My hands went around his neck and he lightly kicked against the door. Nothing happened. I put my head against his chest and nuzzled a little. He kicked again. This time with more vigour. A rumbling was heard and then the same voice who said that nothing should be wrong with me grumbled in a loud voice.
"What do you want? It is past midnight!"
"It's James! Georgie is awake!" The door flew opened and in the doorway stood a woman in her forties.
"What is she doing out of bed! She was out three weeks and before that had she to live on dry bread and water!" she scolded my holder.
"She awoke after one of my speeches and then I went to wake you but she ran after me. I didn't want to let her stand so long so I picked her up." The woman let her hand slide down her face.
"Okay put her back to bed. I will have to examine her." The boy nodded and we walked back to the curtain drawn bed. He laid me down and tried to pull his hands away but I wouldn't let him. He was the only one I trusted. I had no idea why but I felt good around him.
"James you have to let her go…!" The boy groaned.
"I would if she would let me." I shook my head frantically.
"Please don't leave! I don't know where I am or who but I trust you! Please!"
"Wait a second. You don't know who you are?" I shook my head again.
"Ok, so you don't know what your name is? No… okay. Do you know your birthday? Ok, do you know where you are? Again no. Ok a last question. Where would you search for a Bezoar?" James looked at her like she was crazy.
"She don't know what her name is but she will know where to find a Bezoar? Are you out of you mind?" But before the woman could answer, I spoke up.
"You would find it in the stomach of a goat, mountain goats are the best." I blinked. Where did that come from? James sat down on the bed with me in his lap before he looked up to the woman.
"Why can she remember this but not her own birthday?"
"I think it is a special case of amnesia. She won't remember personal things nor has she access to her memories. But she will remember the basic stuff. Things that she learned in school. Things that are not important for her memory. She blocked the horrible scenes out as a safety reason. Her brain locked up the special door where she would find the months in captive so she could heal better. The problem is everything that is personal is saved there too. The school stuff is behind another door which isn't locked. She will recall all of this after a while but it will probably be a little painful. For now we are going to heal her body." James looked down at me and I was again captivate by his eyes. He pushed a strand of hair out of my face.
"We will do it together! I will help you and everyone else too!" I smiled at that and held my hand out.
"I don't remember my name but would you say yours?" He grinned. And took my hand.
"I am James Sirius Potter."
