Hostile 11 is on time!
Woot!
So yay!
Except that no one got the scene that was thrown in from somewhere else!
Boo!
It wasn't Leo's part, either. That was just a bonus.
Just to be a bitch, I'm not gonna tell you what it is. :3
Do some detective work.
Geez.
Mia-Teresa-Davenport: *Rubs the back of his head, muttering*
ShyMusic: That necklace is very, very useful.
AllAmericanSlurp: He's not in the underworld. He's on Earth.
So let's do this! Donnie?

Mr. Davenport
Ten imps, four djinnis, and an afrit. Add those to the three imps and half-djinn already living there, and Donald couldn't help but feel like his home was about to be destroyed in some horrific, demonic disaster of epic proportion. A few imps had already broken a few mirrors and thrown random objects around. What could all of them do?
The only things that were keeping Don remotely sane were Adam - who was talking demons out of fights with one another or mischief in general - and the fact that they were now meeting outside. The thunderstorm had weakened quite a bit, receding into a light rain, but the porch's overhang kept almost everyone dry. The afrit - standing around seven feet tall and, more importantly, several hundred porch-breaking pounds - had to sit in the grass near the porch. It didn't seem to mind, though. At least, it didn't say anything. Maybe it was scowling, but its face was hard to read between the massive fangs and the four eyes that didn't ever focus on anything. The only real emotion it displayed was impatience, if the twitching tail was anything to go by.
Donald was jolted from his thoughts when Ysthry gave a small, squeaky roar. One of the imps had gotten too close to Leo, prompting Ysthry to react. Leo reached up towards his shoulder and rubbed under her chin to calm her down as Chase climbed up on the porch railing and balanced with inhuman ease on the thin boards. "Okay, okay. Everyone calm down."
"About damn time," Sam muttered, crossing her arms.
"Remember how I said that I didn't want to kill the Hunters? Just make them stop?" Chase paused while everyone nodded or muttered about the fairness of it. He pinned his ears, baring his fangs as his expression turned cold and threatening. "I changed my mind. Let's kill them."
A loud cheer went up from most of the demons. Donald was too startled by the statement to react for several seconds.
When had Chase become that violent? Was the little voice in his head becoming more influential?
Judging by the expression on Leo's face, he wasn't sold on the idea, either. Bree was frowning thoughtfully, but she didn't say anything. Instead, it was Tasha who protested. "No killing random people, Chase."
"They kill us," Chase whined childishly.
"That doesn't means it's okay to kill them, too," Tasha growled. "If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?"
Chase started smirking. "I have wings, so yeah."
Tasha looked ready to slam the grounding hammer on Chase, so Donald cut in. "Leave total warfare as a last resort. Besides, you guys can't touch them, remember?"
The demons suddenly looked doubtful. One djinni tilted her head. "They had silver around their weak spots. Necklaces, bracelets, so on."
"And they can terrify you," Sam added. "You were frozen."
A colorful bird-like imp flapped up to perch beside Chase, clapping his beak together loudly with obvious irritation. "Silver is a minor setback! A few Hunters fell under our talons, did they not?"
A djinni that had made himself look like Leo just for the hell of it growled. "Then I'll let you bite them next time and be done with it." He shot the imp a look that Leo often wore when issuing a challenge.
Donald was suddenly glad that the djinni had healing silver burns around his mouth. Otherwise, Leo and the demon would have been identical.
The imp gave a huff, but hid its beak a bit and jumped down, obviously humbled. Chase, meanwhile, pinned his ears. "Okay, fine. Say we can't kill them. Then what? Any ideas?"
Donald frowned again as he watched Chase's expression go from cold to a bit relieved. It took a second before Don had a sort of a-ha moment.
Chase had never wanted to outright kill anybody. He had said that to make himself seem like one of the demons. If he was less human, he would gain more respect.
The kid was definitely going places.
Finally, the afrit spoke, shocking Donald by how beautiful her - her, for Gods' sake - voice was compared to her monstrous appearance. "These mortals have figured out how to terrify us beyond action. I want to know how."
Ysthry nodded. "If we can get rid of that, then it's more of an even fight."
"And they have to be hiding somewhere," pseudo-Leo went on.
"Several somewheres," Chase said. "They have safe houses all over the city. Supply caches."
"Then attack those," Yahn suggested. "If they lose their supplies, they lose their edge."
After a second, Chase nodded. He listed off several addresses before spreading his wings wide. "And remember: No one dies." With that, he sprang off the porch railing and sprinted across the yard, beating his wings until he was flying far above the mansion and away across town, his shortened tail making him look unbalanced and wobbly until he turned into a raven. The demons that wanted to fly followed him into the air, changing into various birds while the ones that didn't ran off in the opposite direction, turning into cats, dogs and other normal creatures. They were obviously aiming to tear through the bases and meet in the middle.
Except the afrit, who stood up and yawned.
After an awkward moment, Tasha cleared her throat. "Did you need anything...?"
"Xaranthi," the afrit - well, Xaranthi - supplied before shaking her head.
Another few moments passed before Adam spoke up. "Aren't you going to follow them?"
"No."
Sam frowned. "Why not?"
Xaranthi pointed in a direction that no demon had gone. "I'm going that way."
Donald was getting a bit annoyed at the vagueness. "When?"
"When I want to."
Ysthry - the only other demon that hadn't left - nudged Leo's cheek. "While we wait, maybe we can find out how they scare us."
Tasha suddenly shook her head. "That sounds like spying, and we all remember how that worked out with Summoner Hall."
Leo winced at the name, his eyes going a bit distant. After a moment, he blinked rapidly and sighed. "I could do that. I can handle a few Hunters."
"No, Leo," Donald hissed. It was stressful enough that Chase and Douglas were putting themselves in danger by flying right to the bases and spending time with a Hunter, respectively. Having Leo - a fledgling Summoner - walk into a group of Hunters and accidentally get caught - and killed in the name of whatever the Hunters were fighting for - would be devastating.
Leo's looked ready to get down on his knees and beg. "I can handle it," he insisted.
"That's what Douglas has Kevin doing," Bree pointed out.
"Yeah, so we don't need you," Adam said, smiling.
Donald sighed when Leo suddenly looked hurt. Adam hadn't quite thought the words through before he said them. "Leo, we don't need another spy, okay? You don't need to."
Leo nodded after a second, but his expression didn't change.
Before Donald could say anything else, Xaranthi crouched down and sprang into the air. She rose much higher and flew much farther than her size should have allowed. When she landed, she jumped again almost immediately, clearing the fence this time.
About a hundred feet away from where she started.
When she leapt a third time, she landed on the second story roof of the neighbor's house, sprinting across the roof and jumping to the next with ease. In a matter of seconds, she was too far away to see any more.
Tasha broke the stunned silence with a huff. At everyone's quizzical look, she sighed. "I just know there's going to be a news story about an unknown monster running along roof tops tonight, and it just had to be my day off."
Poor Tasha can never catch a break. :P
So, what's gonna happen?
Will the demons get close enough to destroy some shit?
Will Xaranthi crash through the roof and ruin a family dinner?
Will Leo "Leo" things up?
Guess we'll have to see.
So, until then, feel free to review. Or don't. Meh.
And enjoy. :3
