Touko snapped her eyes open and looked to the right, her heart sinking at the empty space beside her. Half of her had hoped that N would still be sleeping, the other half hoped he is at least within the apartment. She sits up and begins to yawn but winces mid way, taking notice of the dull throb between her legs and lower back before last nights memories came rushing back.
He was so... erotic! After she told him he could take control, the rhythm picked up fairly quickly, and it felt so good all Touko could do was moan and try to meet his wanton thrusts with her own. He lasted longer than the other two times, which pleased her immensely, and she was able to have an orgasm. It had been so long, had felt so good, she nearly blacked out at the intensity.
"Eee!" She squealed and squirmed about, unable to contain her glee.
Touko began to crawl across the bed, ready to search the place to see if N was still here but spotted the note on the pillow he slept on. Feeling her heart skip a beat, she scanned over it quickly, thinking the worse, but smiled in the end.
'Sorry I am not here when you've awoken,
I currently have some business to attend to and
I do not know how long I will be.
I hope to see you soon. Last night was...
-N.'
'I hope he was just overwhelmed about last night that he couldn't finish that sentence," Touko mused and threw the note out in a waste bin by her bed.
She had some difficulty getting out of bed, her core much more noticeably sore now that she was moving more, and limped her way to the bathroom for a hot shower. It helped soothed her aching muscles much more and she continuously sighed into the steam for a good ten minutes before getting around to the act of cleaning herself up. Her thoughts went back to N more times than she could count, branding his scent, his expressions to memory.
Touko have seen men before when they finally came, looking satisfied and relieved, but Natural... he looked exotic, wrapped up in pure bliss and ecstasy. When he finally came inside her, his strong arms wrapped around her midsection and nearly crushed her to his chest. He was falling into unknown territory and had chosen her to help guide him. So she ran her fingers through his hair, gripped hard enough to pull his head back and gave him a bruising kiss. He wasn't alone.
With that thought in mind, and much giggling, Touko hurried along with her shower. She can foretell that her day will be filled with happiness, rays of fucking sunshine and homework!
. . .
When Monday came knocking, Touko was only a tad disappointed. N had not shown up for the rest of the weekend and a part of her pondered if she had scared him off. 'It has been a while since I did it with a virgin, were they always so skittish?' But she would reassure herself that he most likely had business to attend to, like he wrote on the note, and tried not to think about it. Truth be told, she was looking forward to know about about him. She felt like she knew the guy without really knowing him. He kept his life very private.
'I'll really flip shit if he does, in fact, murder people, 'cause that means I'm most likely next on his hit list,' she thought with dry humor while slamming her locking shut. She nearly stumbled back when she saw Belle standing on the other side. "You scared me!"
"You're in a good mood today. Anything good happen?" She was giving a peculiar smile, as if she knew what was going on.
"I suppose," Touko murmured, feeling her face heat up. She saw her friend scrunch her face up in disappointment and opened her mouth, probably to go on another tirade on how she should stay out of trouble but froze.
Belle's eyes started to widen, her shoulders were bunching up and it looked as if her very breath has been stolen. "He's here," was all she said.
Touko knew who she was talking about and noticed Belle looking over her shoulder and turned around, spotting him further down the hall, his own eyes wide with recognition and glancing between the two. "Natural?"
The blond wasted no time and grabbed her wrist before taking off around the corner in a quick sprint. She dodged through people with ease and even after five minutes of this quick pace she was not out of breath, unlike Touko who was panting for dear life.
But Touko never questioned her on why she was running, nor why she was being dragged along. She knew her friend would never do anything unless necessary because she always thinks of all possible routes to go before finally deciding on the best path to walk. When they finally got out of the college they ran towards the town bus stop, flashing their passes to the driver before finding two empty seats.
She looked out the window but did not see N anywhere insight. Disappointed or relief, what was she suppose to feel now? Everything had been going perfect but now... All she knew now that Belle is indeed the person Natural is looking for and she hopes her friend has a good explanation for all this.
They stayed on the bus until she reached the bad side of town. Once they stepped off, Belle got a hold of her wrist and took off in a sprint once again, this time mindful of Toukos' less superior lungs and athletic ability. They did not stop until reaching a filthy brown brick building, the stones being a lighter colour than they probably originally were, worn down by the harsh weather over the decades, graffiti splashed on the walls with various colours, signs and slang's.
Belle finally let go of her wrist at the large steel doors, taking out a silver key and opening it up. She steps in first, closing the door after Touko before leading her down the hall, stopping in the middle of the hall and in front of the door twenty-three. She inserts another key, jiggles the knob a bit before it finally gives and opens up. Once inside, locking the door and window, Belle was finally able to breath easy, collapsing on the living room couch.
Touko took everything in and was wholly surprised. This is the first time she had been over to the blond's place and she always believed that she was staying in one of those upper class apartments, or at least a large house. Somehow it appeared wrong for such a beauty to live in the slumps like this. She walked forward until she reached the couch and sat down, mindful of the slight puff of dust ejected into the air.
It was silent, save for Touko's heavy panting and Belle's constant sighing. When the brunette tried to speak a hand was smacked over her mouth before retreating into a single finger. The messenger was clear. Be quiet.
It was killing her inside. She wanted the answers, like weeks ago, not now when everything had been perfect. But now they were running away from her... lover? It did not seem fair.
After what seemed like hours, but was in fact only thirty minutes, Belle finally spoke, a wry smile on her face. "Well, I think we're safe, for now."
"Does he murder people?"
"What?"
"Does Natural kill people?"
"No! Well, not technically."
"What is that—Oh no, you told me you were partners before, does that mean you use to kill people too?"
"Erm... "
"That must be it! You two are probably scheming me into trusting you both and then you're gonna murder me now that you got me cornered!"
"That's not it!" She rose her voice and immediately a dark look settled on her face. She looked down at her lap, shoulders slumping forward. Even while looking depressed she looked lovely. "We don't kill people."
"Then what exactly do you two use to do?"
"I can't tell you."
"Shit, Belle," Touko scoffed in disbelief, standing up and placed her hands on her hips. "What the hell am I suppose to do then? What are you going to say to convince me to stick around any longer, because I am close to being fed up and walking out this door."
"We have been friends all these years, no? We have gone through the bad and the good, no matter what we stuck through it all. Just because the situation is a bit more on the weird side, why is it any different from before?"
"Its... " Touko stared into watery green eyes for a moment before crumbling. She settled back on the couch, muttered a curse under her breath and sent a glance over at the door. "You're right, but it doesn't mean I enjoy being left out in the dark."
"I'm sorry."
It was silent after that. There was nothing to be said that could make either person feel better. One felt confused, upset and a bit shaken up, while the other felt disturbed, wary and a whole lot of tension. Any sounds, may it be a creak in the floor or a vehicle speeding down the street, would set Belle off. She could not sit still so she finally decided to pace the dingy apartment.
After awhile Touko felt her anger simmer enough for her to speak without worrying about lashing out impulsively. "Of all the places I pictured you living in, this was definitely not on the list."
"Ah, this place," she let out a soft, exhausted laugh. "I don't really stay here. It is more like a haven, a place where one would least except me to stay."
"Oh."
"It makes me feel safe, you could say."
"Huh, now I'm starting to truly wonder if anything you told me about you over the span of our friendship is even real."
"I'm sorry," she apologized again with a sniff, eyes itching to squint, to control the tears that wanted to spill over. "Everything is so messed up. If only I had not let my feelings get involved, I would be back home, working the next job, and you would be... "
"I would be, what?" Touko questioned quietly when Belle did not finish, and stood up to eye the blond warily.
"Yes, please do share this information, Belle, because I would like to know as well."
Both women whipped their heads in the direction of the deep voice. His calm expression did not match the angry undertones in his voice, the small tug from the corner of his mouth looks more of a snarl than small smile. In the dim light, N stood tall, arms crossed, shoulders pose relaxed. His eyes were telling anything but.
"How did you get in here?" Touko glanced over at the door with furrowed brows.
He ignored her. "Dear, clumsy 'ol Belle, you should have sensed me come close minutes ago. Your powers are truly indeed weak."
"If they are so weak, how did you find us?"
"Ah-ah," he tapped his temple mockingly. "We have been partners for so long, I have your power signature memorized. Although I have to admit that it was not easy to find due to it being at such a low level. I would like the answer, now."
Belle shook like a leaf, eyes wide and pupils dilated. Touko had never seen her friend so terrified looking, it made her feel protective of the petite blond.
"Hey, Natural, I'm here too."
"This is no business to outsiders."
The words sliced right into her soul, searing her on an emotional level. Without warning tears welled up and trailed down her face. Her breath hitched and she appeared completely crestfallen.
"N—no, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." Natural dropped his frozen exterior and looked like the person she knew before; warm, friendly, kind. "It's just— this is really strict business stuff, and getting you involved could be bad for all of us, including you."
"After all we been through," she sniffed hard to prevent her nose from running. "After what we did, you're just like the next damn asshole! Doing a complete turn around after getting what you wanted, damn you, you jerk! You think it's fun to play with my feelings?!"
"Touko, calm down." He took a step towards her, arms wide and ready to comfort her but stopped, remembering his place. "I'll attend to you later, I promise, but I really need to deal with Belle right now."
"Natural, you are going to have to deal with the both of us," Belle sighs regretfully, head dipping back so she could stare up at the ceiling in defeat.
"What are you talking about," He questions.
"Touko has everything to do with this situation." She licks her lips nervously, fingers curled up into a fist. "She... Touko White, file seven-two-nine-zero-four-seven, was my last assignment."
N froze. He was a complete statue with eyes wide, disbelief colouring his face.
Touko sniffed a few more times, staring between the two, hurt and confusion beating against her, making it hard to breath. "W—what do you mean 'last assignment'?"
"It means you are not suppose to be alive right now." N informs her, refusing to look in her direction.
