Kagome sat up quickly with confusion. What's going on? She wondered, as she ground the sleep out of her eyes. Inuyasha was tugging at a necklace around his neck. Kaide was watching him in amusement.

"You still cannot control your temper Inuyasha. So if you intend on chasing Lady Kagome around, she will be able to control you."

"Oh shut up and get this thing off me! I don't need you telling me what to do! I'm leaving today anyways, so you don't have to worry."

"Where are you going Inuyasha? The world has changed since you were pinned to the tree. Anybody you once knew is either old or dead."

Inuyasha calmed down and let that information sink in. How awful that must be, to not have aged and everyone around you kept going forward without you. Kagome thought about her own family. She wondered if they were looking for her, or if they had already moved on.

"I need to find all the pieces of the shikon jewel. I will become a full demon. I will head out this afternoon." He stood up and left the hut quickly.

The room was silent for a moment.

"And what do you intend to do Kagome? Do you still wish to wait for the preist, or are you going to follow Inuyasha?"

"I don't think Inuyasha really wants me to come along. He doesn't seem to like me." She sighed.

"It is hard for him to see the girl he once loved but as a different person. Especially since her betrayal is what got him pinned to that tree so many years ago."

She gasped, "What happened? You said before she died that same day, did he kill her?"

Kaede stood up and grabbed a cup of tea and gave it to the girl. She took it and inhaled the warm scent of an herb she could not identify.

The priestess returned to her mat and cleared her throat.

"Years ago, when I was only a child, my sister Kikyo was a very strong preistess. She was in charge of protecting the shikon jewel. Keeping it pure. She was beautiful and kind. Many men fell for her, but few got her attention.

She would spend her days helping the needy and her nights fighting off demons in the surrounding village. On one of her trips, she met a young half demon. Inuyasha, an orphan who was lost stuck between the humans and demons. He remained outside of the village and would visit her as much as he could. She was always so busy with everybody she rarely had time for herself.

Yet she found time for Inuyasha. She always had time for the boy. They fell in love, and Kikyo convinced Inuyasha to use the shikon jewel on himself to make him full human. They planned to marry after his transformation.

They made a plan one afternoon, after her duties in the mountains where she was currently working, she would come for him. He would use the jewel and they would run off together. But Inuyasha could not wait, he decided to suprise her and meet her in the mountains to help.

The local villagers directed him to a cave in which she had been healing a man who had been badly burned. Onigumo, a bandit who was caught in a fire and had been dragged to safety was brought back from the brink of death thanks to my sister.

However she was healing him for nothing, because the burns had gone too deep and left him paralyzed from the neck down. He would need care forever. Now she had been caring for Onigumo for months now, and kept it a secret from Inuyasha. She had spent so much time with him, she had fallen in love with him as well. But she couldn't bare breaking Inuyashas heart.

He went into the cave and caught her and Onigumo confessing their love. She saw him and hurried after him but it was too late. Inuyasha knew the truth, as did Onigumo. He realized he could not compete with his handsomeness and his ability to even walk. He began to pray, and beg and he screamed for demons to enter his body and make him whole again. They readily accepted and took hold of his body. But he was not as he had always been.

Onigumo was replaced with the monster half demon Naraku. He stood up with ease and walked right out of the cave. He found Kikyo near our village, sobbing. He soothed her and asked what was wrong. She told him her lover had run off.

Onigumo was a simple man who only wanted love, but Naraku was clever. He told her that he overheard Inuyasha saying he was going to steal the jewel and become a full demon. That he had convinced the priestess he was in love with her.

She ran back home and told me and our mother what had transpired this day. My mother told her not to worry and that Inuyasha would not get the jewel. It was a sad day in our home. It felt as if Kikyo was already gone. She left that morning to tend to Onigumo, and never came home.

I do not know exactly what happened afterwords, but all that is known is that Inuyasha did indeed steal the jewel, but was caught. Kikyo shot him and pinned him to that tree to sleep forever. We found her body at the edge of the forest, everything else is unknown."

Kagome sat on her mat, stunned at the revelations. So much information, poor Inuyasha. Betrayed by the only one he ever loved.

"What happened to Naraku?" She asked, unsure of what else to say really.

"He has been and causing havoc wherever he goes. However, I am almost positive he will be collecting the jewel shards as well. He is very dangerous, I am glad he has chosen to stay away from here for so long."

There was a knock on the door. It opened and a young man, in a monks robe walked in. He was handsome. Not even close to Inuyasha, but certainly not ugly. He bowed and took Kagomes hand to kiss it.

She blushed and stood up. "Hello, I am Miroku. The monk who will be ascorting you to wherever you would like to go. I can't wait to get started." He winked at the girl, but she just rolled her eyes. Now unsure of if she really wanted to follow him.

"Miroku huh? Was your grandfather a monk too? " Inuyasha made everyone jump as he walked into the tiny hut. He was eyeing the other man carefully.

"Oh yes, the men in my family have all been monks for generations upon generations. We are very dedicated to our craft," he told Inuyasha, then looked at Kagome,

"But we always make time for a little fun." and winked again. Kagome shook her head. Inuyasha stepped up beside her, so close it made her heart pound faster.

"I remember your grandfather Miroku, he was just like you. Quite a ladies man, or at least he tried. I don't trust you. Kagome, do not leave this village with him alone."

The monk gasped and blushed in embarrassment. "Oh, I am sorry, I had no idea she was spoken for! I, I... my mistake sir. I just figured..."He began to ramble on an apology, but was cut short.

"She's not spoken for! You can have her! I was just trying to help jeeesh." and he stormed out.

"I'm confused, is he your...?"

"Oh no, I just met him. But I'm still not interested. Besides, I hate to do this, but I think I may follow him instead. Nothing against you." He nodded.

"I understand, I can see it in each of your eyes. I am not offended, don't worry. You probably would not want to come with me anyways, I am on my way to Narakus castle. It is not the safest place for a young maiden."

"You got room for one more?" That sexy voice returned from the outside, as did Kagomes racing heart.
