His confession made her pause for a moment, she looked up at the handsome boy holding her hand. His face looked so soft. So unlike his normal hard exterior. She squeezed his hand and opened the door. The lights were all on, but no one was in the kitchen.
She let go of his hand. "Stay right here, don't move." He nodded and hurried through the rest of the house. "Mom, gramps, Sota! I'm home!" She shouted. She heard a thump, and what sounded like glass breaking.
Her mother ran down the stairs and leaped into Kagomes arms. She held on for a long time, only to be pushed aside by Kagomes grandfather, and then her brother.
"Where were you! Sota said you fell down the well and disappeared! We were worried sick, we thought the worst!" Her mother cried. She embraced her again.
"I know, me too mom. I thought I'd never get home. But man, do I have a story to tell you. Before you get too excited guys, I have a few things to say. One, I haven't decided if I am going to stay long. Two, I brought someone with me."
Everyone looked around and at the edge of the doorway, Kagomes family saw a tall stranger peeking at them his body hidden on the other side. The teenage girl went to him and pulled him into the living room.
They all gasped as they noticed his odd clothing, his long hair. His dog ears, and finally how strikingly handsome he was.
"Uh, hello." He said to the group. Her mothers eyes grew big, and with nothing more, she fainted, with Sota catching her.
Once her mother came to, Kagome repeated what she had just revealed to the rest of the family. A shortened version, anyways.
She explained that she wanted to go back to fix what she had done. To get the jewel shards back to make it whole again. What she didn't tell them is that she also wanted to get closer to Inuyasha. Although after the whole him pushing her into the well thing, that might not happen now. Once they got to her world though, things changed. It was as if they had both forgotten how mad at each other they were. It was weird, but nice.
Her mother was instantly against it. What about school? How would they explain that? What about her father, he would certainly not stand for this. Her grandfather was excited, and asked Inuyasha question after question. He wanted her to bring back some things for him to examine, and sell.
Sota, was, well Sota. He was already planning on taking her room. They got into a littlet tiff about that, and Kagome put him back in his place. As the day ended, Sota grew tired as did her mother. Although uneasy about the whole thing, she laid out a mat and blanket for Inuyasha. Her grandpa stayed awake and continued to chat with the boy. Kagome even brought them a midnight snack.
Kagome left them talking and went to her room. Oh how she missed her soft bed! She jumped onto it and sighed. Oh how nice everything was. She gazed around and wondered if she really was ready to leave these things, indefinetly. She couldn't think about that right now. She realized she could shower now. She grew excited about hot water and hurried out.
She returned to her room clean and smelling amazing. She sat at her vanity in her towel and brushed her hair. She put on some sweet smelling lotion and her pajamas. She smiled satisfied with her comfy sweats and baggy t-shirt. Not yet tired, she grabbed a book off her shelf and started to read.
A few pages in, her door burst open. "And this is Kagomes room. Typical girl, boooring." and then it was shut again. She blushed, apparently Gramps was now giving Inuyasha a tour. She sighed and after another chapter, shut her lights off and went to sleep.
Soon after, she heard a creak of the stairs, and a light knock. She sat up groggily, as Inuyasha slowly opened her door. "Kagome, Kagome can I come in?" He whispered. She mumbled something tiredly and he hurried in, pushing the door shut as quietly as possible.
He kneeled close to her face. "It's weird alone down there. Can I stand guard up here?" She just looked at him with confusion, but nodded. She got up and left the room, returning with blankets. She set them on the floor and looked up. Inuyasha had gotten on her bed and fallen asleep. Great. She closed the door and went to him. He looked so innocent. So beautiful.
She decided to skip the floor. Her bed was big enough for both of them. She laid next to him, taking in his scent and his warmth. She fell asleep so easily.
In the morning she was alone, she hurried to breakfast and found Inuyasha sitting at the table with Sota. They looked as if they had entered an eating contest. Shoving everything in there mouths as fast as they could. Inuyasha looked up and swallowed.
"The food here is amazing, can we bring some back with us?" She nodded and grabbed some juice. Her mother was already at work, and Sota was on his way to school. Her grandfather was the only one left, but he was leaving too.
"Well, I'm off to go do something about your school, and maybe get a few things to show the boy. Need anything?"
"Yea actually. Can I borrow some of dads clothes, and a hat?" She asked.
"Well I don't see why not. He never uses them anymore. I'll be back this afternoon."
They said there goodbyes, and Kagome hurried to her parents room. She grabbed a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. Along with underwear, socks and a ball cap. Inuyasha was finally done eating when she returned.
She drew him a bath and explained to him what soaps to use. She hurried out as he began to undress with her still in the room. Oh wow, those abs. She went to her room to get dressed. Since she wasn't in school today, she chose a nice sundress. She returned to see Inuyasha trying to figure out the jeans. She helped him finish getting dressed and grabbed her purse. She was going to show him the city.
After about ten minutes, she realized this was easier said than done. The first car Inuyasha saw almost gave him a heart attack. He refused to get in one, so they walked downtown. She took him to a candy shop and let him pick out as much as he wanted. Then he saw a television and demanded they watch. After an hour of him watching the news, Kagome decided to take him to a theatre.
There was a movie playing about Samurai fighting so she took him to that. He was amazed at everything. Although when the big screen came on he jumped and growled. As embarrassing as he was, it was fun seeing everything through his eyes.
As their day ended, they began the walk home.
"I can see why you missed this place." He told her. She nodded. "I do love it here, although now that we're here I miss the fuedal era." Kagome chuckled. Inuyasha was silent.
"I know I have to go back, but a part of me doesn't want to. Theres nothing left for me, other than the jewel shards."
Kagome remained quiet, how sad she was for him. All alone in this huge world.
"Well you have me," Kagome whispered nervously. Inuyasha took her hand. "Thanks. Can I sleep in your room again, that thing is comfy." She laughed and agreed.
By the time they got home her mother was cooking dinner. Inuyasha went into the living room to eat his candy, while Kagome helper her mother.
"When are you leaving Kagome? Your father is not happy about this." She added, trying to be stern.
"I think in the morning, and don't bother with the dad thing. If he cared he would be here." Kagome snapped.
Her mother ignored the comment as usual. When it came to her fathers shortcomings, her mother ignored it. As long as they had a roof over their head she pretended everything was fine.
After dinner Inuyasha watched TV with Sota and Grandpa. Kagome went upstairs and began packing a bag full of stuff to take back. Clothes, a book, toiletries. When everyone went to bed Inuyasha snuck back in and fell asleep. This time he pulled her close. They did not talk, but they didn't really need to.
