Chapter 24

A/N: So I didn't realize that I put the wrong name for the Bully :/ lol Her name is Jenny and I put Britney! I apologize for any confusion!

When Kirsten and the girls walked into the restaurant; they were led to the back room where everyone else was waiting for them. Elena smiled; the back room was decorated in pink and turquoise streamers and a 'Happy 10th Birthday' banner was hung up on the back wall. There was a small table in the corner that had several gifts on top.

"Happy Birthday Elena." Everyone said in unison. She smiled wider; everyone that mattered was there. Her parents, her three brothers, Taylor, Summer and of course her best friend Caitlin.

"Thank you everyone. It looks so great." Elena gave each one a hug. She sat down at the table in between Trey and Caitlin.

The meal portion of the evening went great. Everyone was talking, and having a great time. After several minutes waiting for their food to digest, their waiter and some of the other staff from the restaurant came into the room singing happy birthday, holding a birthday cake that Sandy brought with them.

Elena smiled as the lit cake was placed in front of her and everyone else started to sing.

'Happy Birthday dear Elena, Happy Birthday to you!" Sang out everyone; and clapping when finished.

Elena smiled wide and closed her eyes, making a wish. She took a big breath and blew out all ten candles.

She looked around with a big smile, just taking in all the faces of the people she loves. She then got the overpowering feeling of disgust. She ate way too much, and now she's going to eat some cake. Sure she barely ate the past several days, but she just couldn't help feeling the way she felt; although she really wished she didn't.

"Hey you okay?" Elena was knocked out her thoughts by Caitlin. Elena smiled at her with a nod. "Yeah, totally."

A couple minutes later everyone had a piece of cake. Elena took a fork full and put it in her mouth. Man this is so good. She thought to herself.

"It's been a long time since I had cake. This is so good." Trey said smiling.

Kirsten smiled with a nod. "Thank you. It's one of my specialties."

"That among many others!" Elena beamed. "Mom is a fabulous baker!"

Trey looked to Elena and smiled at her. "I can tell. I can't wait to try some of her other masterpieces."

Several minutes later Elena put down her fork when her plate was empty. "Man I'm so full." She stood up. "Well I have to go to the bathroom, I shall be back, then maybe we can do presents?" She asked with smirk looking at her parents.

Sandy and Kirsten chuckled nodding. "Yes honey."

Caitlin looked over at Elena. "Want me to come with you?"

"No I'm okay, I'll be right back." She smiled and ventured off to the restroom.

When she opened the door she couldn't believe who she saw at the sink.

"Hey look its Chino." Rang the snobby voice.

"Jenny…" She mumbled trying to head to a stall.

"Looks like you ate already. I hope you saved enough food for everyone else." She snarked leaving the bathroom.

Now Elena was the only person in the room. Her day was going great until now. She hated that she let Jenny get to her the way she did, but she couldn't help it. She felt angry and hurtful tears sting her eyes. She ran into the closest stall locking it behind her. She didn't waste anytime before sticking her index finger down her throat; after gagging a few times she finally emptied the contents of her stomach into the toilet bowl. She kept going until there was nothing left coming out.

"Elena?" She heard Caitlin's voice. She didn't hear the door open when she was making all of her purging noises. Elena grabbed toilet paper and wiped her mouth, flushing the toilet. She wiped her tears and walked out of the stall hoping to God she didn't hear anything.

"Hey Caitlin." She flashed a fake smile, walking to the sink to wash her hands.

"Don't 'hey Caitlin' me. What were you just doing? And don't say peeing, because I know what peeing sounds like and that wasn't it." She crossed her arms over her chest, her voice was firm but it was full of concern. "And you're my best friend Elena, I could tell you were just crying."

Elena bit her bottom lip and turned to her, knowing she couldn't lie to her best friend. "Caitlin, don't tell anyone. Please you can't."

Caitlin was suspicious of Elena the past several days; barely eating at lunch, and just looking paler than normal, but this confirmed it. "Yes I can! Elena, you're throwing up your food, and you're barely eating as it is! I'm so telling!" She turned to go to the door.

"No please! Please!" Elena grabbed her wrist, pleading looking in her eyes. "Please, I'll-I'll stop, just please. I don't want to cause any trouble with anyone."

Caitlin's heart broke for her best friend; her expression softening. "Promise me you will stop. Because if you keep doing this, I have no choice but to tell someone. You may hate me for it, but this is very bad Elena."

Elena nodded quickly. "I'll stop. I promise." She sniffled. "And for the record; I could never hate you."

Caitlin gave her a small smile but frowned again. "Why are you doing this to yourself? Is it because of Jenny?"

Elena just stayed silent looking at the floor.

"I'm gonna kick her ass-" Caitlin chuckled angrily.

"No Caitlin; just, I'll do better to not listen to her. It's just hard sometimes." She admitted.

Caitlin hooked her arm with Elena's. "You know I'm here for you always. What Jenny says is not true. You are not fat what so ever. I have no idea what her problem is with you because you are amazing." She gave her a playful nudge.

Elena chuckled. "Thank you Caitlin. I really, really wouldn't know what I would do without you." She laid her head on her shoulder.

"Same to you Elena." Caitlin smiled. "Now, we should head back."

Elena smiled and the two of them walked back to the back room.

"Hey there you are. I thought you fell in. We were about to start a search party." Seth chuckled, in return receiving a playful smack by Summer.

Elena just laughed and sat back in her chair next to Trey. "Lena you feeling okay?" Trey asked sounding concerned.

Elena nodded with a smile looking at her. "Yeah I'm fine."

Trey decided not to push. He noticed earlier she was looking pale but it seemed more pronounced but he didn't want to over step since he did just come back in her life today.

He just smiled and gave her a nod.

Now that the table was all cleaned up Elena was ready to open her gifts. Caitlin got up off her chair and ran to the gift table wanting to hand Elena her gift herself. She handed her a medium sized box with Minion Birthday wrapping paper.

Elena laughed. "This wrapping paper is so great!" Caitlin watched as Elena tore open the wrapping paper. She took the lid off the box and there were several gifts inside. Elena smiled wide when she picked up the first gift. It was a picture of her and Caitlin in the swimming pool; Elena was on Caitlin's back having the best time. The picture was in a sparkly turquoise frame with coral letters that read 'Best Friends Always and Forever'.

"Oh my Gosh I love this!" Elena squealed throwing her arms around Caitlin. "This was a fun day!" Caitlin laughed. "It so was!" She nudged to the box. "There's more."

Elena passed the frame around and continued with her gift. There was a Shawn Mendes t-shirt and rubber bracelet, a 5 Seconds of Summer t-shirt and necklace and lastly there was Shawn Mendes's new CD 'Illuminate'.

"Thank you so much Caitlin! I love everything! I can't wait until we get back to the house and listen to the cd!" Elena again threw her arms around the other girl.

"You're welcome!" Caitlin smiled.

"Look over here girls." Kirsten smiled and was waiting across the table with a camera. The girls posed for a few pictures.

"Our turn!" Summer boasted pushing her and Seth's together-gift in front of Elena. the gift was a smaller box, wrapped in solid turquoise wrapping paper topped with a pink curly bow.

Kirsten kept snapping candid pictures with the camera, while the others would take several with their phones. Trey though, was just living in the moment. He had been waiting for a moment like in over 5 years. He kept his emotions in check since he rather not break down in a room full of people.

Elena ripped open the wrapping paper, bouncing up and down. It was a light blue Instax Mini 8. She wanted a camera like this since she first saw it in the store. "Thank you Summer! Thank you Seth!" She hopped up throwing her arms around the both of them. "I can't wait to take pictures!"

Seth smiled placing a kiss on his sister's head. "Just none of me; I'm not very photogenic." He joked.

Summer laughed hugging her back tightly. "You're welcome Lena."

Elena was really grateful and happy with her gifts. Taylor had gotten her a movie basket. It was a basket with 5 of her favorite movies on Blu-Ray; Despicable Me, Up, The Little Mermaid, The Minion Movie and Finding Nemo. Also in the basket were a bunch of mini Twix bars, Reese's Cups and there was two boxes of microwave popcorn.

Ryan had gotten her a scrapbook kit, with a bunch of decorations for it from stickers, to pens, to the decorative pages. He also bought her extra stuff for scrapbooking that wasn't in the kit. He remembered that she had mentioned of wanting to start up scrapbooking when Kirsten mentioned it one time; so he thought it was a perfect gift.

Trey cleared his throat and walked handed her a stuffed Koala bear that he bought her. "It's not much, but I remembered that you love koala bears, and I-I hope you like it." He said a little nervous. He didn't have any money to buy her a great gift; Ryan actually took him out to get a gift for her when the girls were at the mall. "I'm sorry it's not wrapped." He blushed looking down.

Elena looked at the stuffed animal, then hugged it tightly to her chest. She hopped off her chair and into Trey's lap. "I love it Trey. Koalas are my favorite animal, but this is very special because you were able to give it to me. It's a lot in my book." She wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight embrace. "I love you."

Trey felt his chin tremble slightly but did his best to keep in contained. He wrapped his arms tight around her, placing a kiss on her head. "I love you too Elena; so much, you have no idea." He said softly in her ear.

Ryan smiled at the sight in front of him. He was so happy to have his brother back in his life; knowing that Trey really wants to make changes to make sure it stays that way. He snapped a picture with his phone.

"I hate to break this up but we have one more gift." Sandy said placing a long rectangular box in front of them.

Elena turned around to face the table, but remained on Trey's lap. She looked over her shoulder. "Do you mind if I sit here?" She smiled at him.

With a slight shake of his head he answered. "No of course not silly."

She giggled and went to open the box. She opened the balloon wrapped box and inside was an envelope that was labeled 'open me last'. She looked perplexed but continued with the gift. She put the envelope a side and was pulling out the clothes that laid in the box. It was a pair of dark denim shorts, and a black Shawn Mendes T-shirt. There was also a new pair of neon pink Converse 'cut offs' and Shawn Mendes guitar pick necklace. Elena smiled wide this is so cool!" She pulled the necklace over her head.

Kirsten stood next to Sandy smiling, anxious for her to finish opening the gift; while Seth offered to take over the picture taking.

"Open the envelope now sweetheart." Sandy smiled, also excited.

With anticipation on her face, Elena opened the envelope and pulled out the contents inside which were 4 tickets and 4 lanyards. She was literally speechless. With her mouth agaped, she tapped Caitlin on her arm.

"What is-" Caitlin couldn't even finish the question. The two girls looked at each other and let out squeals. "Shawn Mendes tickets!" Elena bounced in Trey's lap. Then she looked at the lanyards that here in her hand as well. Fan-girl tears welled in her eyes. "VIP passes! Caitlin! We-we are...wearegonnameetShawnMendes!" She spat out in a jumbled. Both girls were just freaking out. It was quite the scene.

Trey looked to Ryan and mouthed 'Who's Shawn Mendes?"

Ryan laughed. "Just some singer that the girls are totally in love with."

Elena slid out of her brother's lap and charged at her parents, engulfing them in the biggest hug fathomable. "Thank you thank you!"

"You're so welcome baby." They said, each giving her a kiss on the top of her head.

It was about 45 minutes later when everyone loaded up in their cars and headed to the bowling alley. They decided to split up into uneven teams between the two lanes they reserved. It was boys against girls. Once they all settled with their shoes and getting their balls, the game started.

It was halfway through the second game; with the girls winning the first round. Elena was sitting in the seats cheering on Caitlin when Trey sat next to her.

She smiled just hugging him what seemed like the 100th time just at the bowling alley, but he wasn't complaining; he just smiled. "Having a good Birthday?"

Elena nodded with the biggest smile. "Yes! The best! You're here; everyone I love and who loves me is here. I-" She started tearing up. "I haven't had a birthday like this before and it's the best. I mean Ryan and I celebrated with the two of us when mom was too drunk or not even around to do so. But this...this is different. I feel like I have a real family again, and now that you're back; it's complete." She wiped the tear that escaped her eye.

Trey too was on the verge of tears. He wiped his eyes of any evidence and just hugged her again. "I'm going to do better by you and Ryan. I can't fix the past, but I can make sure I don't mess up the future."

Elena looked up at him from the hug with just a smile; she couldn't find the words.

Again, he noticed she looked pretty pale. He was starting to get a little bit more worried. "I know you're getting tired of me asking this, but are you sure you're okay? You look really pale Lena."

Truth is, other than the amazing feeling of love and joy she is feeling; physically she felt like crap. It could be the lack of food the last several days and the amount she ate today; plus making herself get sick didn't help the fact. She put on a brave face. "Yes, Trey I am fine. I am just tired, it's been a long day."

"Your turn Lena." Taylor called over to her, smiling.

Elena nodded to her and stood up. "We are so going to win again." She said to Trey and walked over to the ball return. She picked up the blue 8 pound ball and stood in front of the lane, taking her stance. That's when she felt it. Her heart was pounding in her chest and the room started spinning and getting dark. That was the last thing she remembered.

Ryan was sitting in the chairs watching Seth and his sister up at the lanes. He was smiling but that quickly faded when he saw his baby sister collapse on the ground, the ball popping off of her fingers. He saw, and heard her hit her head on the floor. "Lena!" He hopped of the chairs and raced over there along with everyone else.

Trey was watching Elena as she was about to take her turn; but all of a sudden he saw her go down, smacking her head on the floor as she landed. His heart sunk in his stomach. He sprung out of the chair and ran over to her, meeting up with everyone else.

"Call 911!" Sandy yelled to anyone who was available. Someone of the group next to them took out their phone and called for an ambulance. Sandy kneeled right next to Elena's head, stroking her cheek gently trying to help her regain consciousness. He tried his best to stay calm for everyone else but on the inside he was terrified.
