"YOU HAD ONE JOB! GET MY DAUGHTER TO COME TO ME!"

"I am sorry my queen, she's just so—" The blond vampire trembled before her.

"So what? Powerful? You haven't seen power yet!"

Lilith took a deep unnecessary breath, "Very well, since you are completely useless just go."

Camille bobbed her head and quickly vanished from sight.

"I guess I will have to take matters into my own hands," the demon talked to herself as she devised a plan.

Linette stared at herself in the mirror as Sophie Lightwood put her hair into an intricate knot. The teen could now see why Tessa suggested Sophie help get ready, for she had a long jagged scar from her brow to chin.

"I think that completes your hair, you look absolutely stunning Linette."

"Thank you Sophie. Um, would you help me into my dress? I can't tie it myself."

She smiled sweetly, "Of course."

After silently helping her into the dress she spoke, " You look lovely I'm so happy for you. I can see why your Will fancies you so much"

"Speaking of Will. Do you know where he is?"

"His father said he for a walk to, um, clear his head before the party."

"Well he better come back soon, or he'll miss the whole thing."

There was a knock on the door, it was Zach. "The party is about to start, is Will in there with you?"

"No he's still gone"

"Oh," The shadowhunter looked at Linette with a critical eye. Thinking he was going to make some rude obscene comment, she braced herself. Instead he only said, "You look beautiful, Will's lucky."

She felt so warm all over, "Thank you Zach, we will be down in a moment."

She closed the door softly and turned to Sophie, "Thank you Sophie, my hair looks beautiful, now could you please give me a minute?"

"Of course dear, I shall see you down there." Linette smiled sweetly and nodded.

Now that she was alone she looked at herself in the mirror for the first time this evening. Her ebony hair was pulled into a mass of braids and jade flower pins which brought out her eyes. Her eyes looked even greener thanks to the dress she magiced. It was a modern silk ball gown in the shade of lilacs. The bodice was covered in lilac lace that traveled down her arms. The skirt flowed around her all the way to the floor like a waterfall. This was the first time in a long time she felt truly beautiful.
