Tom's pov

I took Kacey to school on monday morning where she went off to the pru and i went to my classroom, the morning went by as normal as it can at Waterloo road then in the afternoon it was last thing and i had no class when Josh arrived. He turned up just as i was walking past the door so lucky thing:

"Hey Josh."

"Hi dad."

"I haven't got a class so come to my classroom!"

"Alright."

We went in and sat down, me on the front of my desk and Josh in a chair at a desk at the front:

"What's up dad?"

"I was gonna tell you at home but i think it'd be easier here!"

"What?"

"Well, do you remember Kacey Barry?"

"Erm yeah, i think so!"

"Well her brother was arrested for assaulting her!"

"Ok what did he do? And why does this concern me?"

"Ask her yourself it's not for me to say, well their mum was helping him so she can't go home!"

"Dad what have you done?!"

"I took her in temporarily to keep her safe, now she lives with me!"

"WHAT?!"

"I'm adopting her, please be nice to her and she goes by Robbie now!"

"So you didn't think to consult me before this?"

"What was i supposed to do? Leave him to kill her?"

"She could go into care like every other endangered kid!"

"Listen, she needs to be with someone she knows and trusts not a stranger after what she's been through!"

"What do you mean? What happened?"

"I'll go get her out of class and you two can talk!"

Kacey's pov

Tom came to the pru during last period and told me to bring my stuff so i picked up my bag and went with him to his classroom where Josh was sitting:

"i think Josh wants to speak to you Robbie!"

"Ok."

I sat down at a front desk and Tom sat at his desk while we talked:

"So...my dad said you're staying with him now!"

"Yeah, i am!"

"Don't you think that's weird staying with your teacher?"

"No, i need him! I would probably be in hospital if it wasn't for Tom!"

"Do you mind me asking why you need to be away from home? What happened?"

"Well erm...long story, basically i came out as transgender and my brother refused to accept it so he decided it was a phase, he kept hurting me and my mum helped him until the last thing he did when he cut me with a knife but Tom got me out of there before he did anything else!"

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry Kacey...Robbie, I assumed you'd made him mad or something!"

"So...are you ok with me staying?"

"Yeah it's cool, I might even like having a little brother instead of me being the youngest with Chlo and Mika!"

I smiled at him then he continued:

"So where have you been sleeping?"

"Your room, sorry!"

"It's ok, so did you plan on sleeping in the girls' room tonight?"

"Yeah!"

"Dad, Robbie needs a bed of his own!"

Tom looked slightly surprised:

"You're being very accepting of Robbie now!"

He shrugged:

"I know what it's like not to be accepted!"

"Alright, well how about it Robbie? Do you fancy a new bed? Liverpool covers of course?"

"Yeah that sounds good!"

"Alright, when the bell goes you can go home with Josh if he doesn't mind giving you a lift and i will go buy the bed!"

Then the bell went:

"Right Robbie let's go!"

"Can i talk to my sister quickly first?"

"Alright i'll wait at the gate for you! Try not to take too long! You too dad be quick!"
