"Keep your heads held high, talk to each other about how pathetic this rebellion is, or just jabber about clothes and such" Cato orders to their small group as they started walking down the streets towards the train station; he had his arm wrapped around Onyx's waist with her pulled into his side while Marvel and Glimmer were just a little bit behind them acting lovey dovey as they walked.

The ten of them were scattered along the street to make their big group seem smaller as they walked, Onyx was relieved to have Cato beside her since he seemed to be able to hold most of her weight so that she wasn't putting too much pressure on her latest wound.

"What do you think is going to happen to the other districts? honestly joining this silly little conflict, what were they thinking?" Onyx sneered as she aimed at her question at Cato, she didn't really need to act, her question was genuine and her hate for the Capitol was easy to muster up when it came to mentioning the rebellion; if she had to ask about clothes or such then she would have failed, she couldn't act very well.

Blinking in slight shock at how well Onyx was able to put venom in her voice like a District Two civilian, Cato blanks for a moment before turning his attention to the question at hand; he wasn't sure about the districts but he hoped that everyone was able to get safe..

"Twelve will finally be knocked off the map like Thirteen" Cato scoffed, sending a small apologetic look to the girl at his side "The others will have our forces keeping them in line, unless of course they can run them out but that's highly unlikely"

Onyx mulled over his words as the pair walked in silence, she could hear the others chattering behind them but she couldn't come to talk to her friend any more with the information that she was given.

Twelve would be knocked off the map.

While the district wasn't really a home, it held memories of her parents, both good and bad and she didn't want to lose them; she had her friends there who, she hoped with all her heart, were safe from whatever the Capitol sent their way. She couldn't cope with losing the people who helped keep her alive in her darkest days, Sae, Ripper, Darius, The Everdeens and the Hawthorns.

"How do you think they'll do it?" Onyx asked, this time her voice was quiet and submissive, she didn't want to know but she also needed to know.

Cato glanced over to her before looking back at Marvel who scowled at the question and shook his head at Cato, telling him not to tell her.

But Cato needed to, she needed to know what they might come across when they somehow got out of District Eleven and over to Twelve, Thirteen was past Twelve and it would be a bridge they would soon have to cross.

"I don't know, District Thirteen was levelled but-" Carto paused as he tried to think of what 'poetic' end Snow may come up with for the home of the girl who started the whole rebellion, he could use the plants that her name was from against her and poison them all or he could use her moniker against her "Snow will use that hideous moniker against her, he'll either poison them with mutt roses or burn the district to the ground"

Onyx let out a small whimper at the information before taking a breath and nodding, her head still held high as they continued to walk towards their chance of survival.

"Damn it Cato, I said no" Marvel growls under his breath towards his friend as he fought against the urge to pull his sister into his arms and reassure her that everything was going to be okay.

Glimmer placed her hand on Marvels arm gently to hold him back by her side so that he didn't cause any attention to be pulled their way, she could see the train station up ahead so they would be able to get the conflict out of the way once they were safe.

"Not here" She whispers to her partner as she pressed a kiss to his cheek to distract him before going back to her insane jabber about the latest shoes that were released before she had left for the games.

Marvel grumbled a little but couldn't stop the small smile at the kiss to his cheek before turning his attention back to the blonde next to him.

"Nearly there" Cato whispered to himself as his grip on Onyx increased slightly, he could see the station and could see that there was also no peacekeepers around

Which meant that his father had actually helped them escape the District that he had put so much into and nearly lose his family over, Cato knew he owed his father an apology and would try and rectify the anger and hurtful comments he had made since he started training to become a tribute; his father, it seemed, would always pull through for his family.

"Told you I was right" Onyx smirked as she took in the slip of his mask, surprise flitting across his face as he noticed there were no peacekeepers at the train station that they were now entering.

"Shut up" He huffed as he mock glared at her, a small pout on his face as he realised that she was right and he was going to have to tell her that.

Waiting two minutes for the whole group to gather, Cato and Marvel both scanned the area for any sign of peacekeepers before ushering everyone into the cargo hold of the train.

As soon as they got the door closed, Clove moved to Nyx's side and threw her arms around the younger girl surprising everyone with the initiated contact.

"Don't you ever, ever do that again" Clove growled out into the girls neck as she held her close.

Watching the red begin to soak the girls shirt as a bullet pierced her body, scared the living daylights out of Clove, she thought for a moment that not only would she be losing a friend but their group would lose the glue that held them all together; they would lose one of their only reasons for keeping on going.

It was all because of the stubbornness of the young girl faced with two overprotective boys, one a brother and the other a potential love interest, if the boys hadn't of acted like idiots then they would have caught sight of the threat as a group and would have acted before any of them got hurt.

Nyx hesitates for a moment before wrapping her arms around her friend and holding her close, she knew that she had scared some of their group but she hadn't realised how scared the others were as well.

"I'll try not to get shot again" Nyx promises Clove as she holds her friend close before pulling away with a small smile, Clove eyed Nyx closely before nodding in acceptance at the promise and moving away to where the Peacekeeper outfits were hidden.

Watching her friend, Nyx smiles a little before she is pulled into another hug, this time she knew who had grabbed her when she smelt the familiar scent of her older brother; Marvel hadn't had the chance to reassure himself that she was okay so holding her close was expected.

"I'm okay Marvel" She whispered to her brother as she held him just as close to her as he was holding her to him, she remembered the pain in his eyes as he held her in his arms as she bled out because of her own stubbornness.

"You ever do anything like that again and I'll... I'll" Marvel stammers lightly, he couldn't figure out what he would do if his sister did something so stupid again; he nearly lost her but he knew that it was also his fault as well so he couldn't exactly punish her when she was already shot.

Nyx didn't know if she was happy that he was taking such an interest in her life and her safety or if she was annoyed by how overbearing he had become since the rebellion was announced; she knew that he wouldn't punish her properly because he wouldn't hurt her but she was still a bit weary of what he could come up with that he classed as a punishment.

"Marv let her go, we need to figure out what we're going to do" Cato ordered with a bit of amusement on his voice, they needed to sort out shifts to sleep as well as an area to sleep; they also needed to figure out who was going to dress as peacekeepers so that they could get some food.

Marvel scowled at his friend for the reminder and hesitantly pulled away from Nyx but kept his arm around her waist which led to her leaning into him for a moment as she looked around them.

"District Two and Eleven are pretty close to each other" Link piped up just in case the older boys started an argument, "From what I learned from my dad, Two is on the border but far enough from the city so that it's not seen or anything, District Twelve is not too much of a journey from Eleven either; the main problem will be the fences that surround Eleven"

The entire group turned their attention to Link at his words, causing him to shrink back slightly at the nine sets of eyes that were now focusing on him.

"He's right" Thresh informed the group as he lifted Rue up onto one of the crates as the train started to slowly move along the tracks; the transport must have been running on a timer or something. "It's about three hours between the train station of Two and that of Eleven, and another three between Eleven and Twelve, it will take us a few days to walk it though and the fences are incredibly high"

"Eleven could be a safe zone" Nyx added her opinion into the conversation as she moved away from Marvel and over to where Rue was sat on the crates. "For all we know, dad and Thirteen may have taken Eleven in hopes that we'll make our way through there to get to Twelve, or they may see Eleven as a better ally than most because of how close they are or because of their industry"

"The only problem with that is that the Capitol may have that train of thought too" Coral pointed out as she sank down to the floor, leaning against the wall of the train and pulling Link down with her so that they could work out what they were going to do while sat down rather than standing around like idiots.

"But wouldn't your dad have warned us?" Glimmer asked Cato as she joined Nyx and Rue "I mean, he seemed genuinely willing to help, wouldn't he have been warned about potential threats to his soldiers if there was a chance of Eleven being hit? He was going to put peacekeepers on the train if we hadn't of appeared on his doorstep"

"He would have" Clove answered for Cato as she gave him a firm look, waiting for him to argue with her.

Clove knew that her friend and his father had a distant relationship ever since Cato hit fourteen and threw himself further into their training, but she also knew Caleb cared for his son and wouldn't ever dream of sending his eldest son to his death after he'd only just got him back from the arena.

"Which means that Eleven may or may not be a danger for us right now" Rissa summed up as she eyed the group carefully, they looked much better than they had a few hours ago and weren't as sleep deprived or exhausted so the journey would be less of a danger to their health after their stay in Cato's house "Are we leaving this area of the train?"

Looking around him, Cato catalogued the build of each of them and knew that the only people who would get away with hiding as peacekeepers would be Thresh, Marvel and him because of their heights and maybe Glimmer and Rissa because most of them female peacekeepers were of a tall, lithe build that they had. But the group also had a new stock of food from his mother as well as some more supplies to keep them running, and since it was a journey that lasted four hours at the most, they could easily just nap or converse so that his father wouldn't get in as much trouble when they asked why a peacekeeper was seen wandering but there was no one on the rota.

"We're going to stick in here, less chance of getting caught or getting my dad in trouble" Cato decided as he lowered himself to the ground against the crate that Nyx was sat on.

The rest of the group nodded in agreement as they all began to settle down on the floor or on the crates, many of them glancing towards Nyx to double check that she was okay as she moved so that her legs were pressed against Cato's shoulder; she knew that out of the whole group, it was Cato, Marvel and Rue that needed to be reassured that she was okay.

Rue because of her age and the boys because of the guilt that they most likely carried because of the argument that had led to her storming off and getting shot.

"What's the plan of attack once we get to Eleven?" Nyx asked the older boy quietly as Rue decided to move to where Clove was sitting and curled into her side before falling asleep almost instantly.

Clove froze at the close contact before relaxing and wrapping her arm around the younger girl, her gaze flitting over to Thresh who just smiled lightly before continuing his conversation with Rissa.

Cato shrugged lightly as he looked at the small group surrounding them, the past twenty four hours had been emotionally draining for a number of them and he could see that half of their group were either succumbing to sleep or fighting it as the train rocked them in a gentle movement as they headed to their destination.

Nyx was half dead as they finally caught sight of a district, both Clove and Cato were able to relax slightly as they recognised their home district because they knew that they would find someone trained enough to help the girl in his arms.

Carrying the young girl through the streets of Two had been gruelling, mainly because of the fear that gripped him, the fear that he would be too late to get her to his mother who was trained enough in medicine to help her without the use of machines and serums.

The sight of his mother standing shocked in the doorway almost made Cato sob in relief as she shooed him into the study and set to work on the girl who was only hanging by a thread as he set her down on the table; he had hovered in the doorway as his mother worked and hadn't even noticed that he was covered in her blood until his father had pointed it out before he left for a few hours.

He had been sure that they were all dead the moment his father left but he needed to stay with Onyx which was why he hadn't moved the group, deep down, he knew that his father wouldn't have turned them in.

"Cato" Nyx pressed as she slid gently down from the crate to the floor beside him as he automatically put an arm around her shoulder and drew her close.

"We'll probably need to hide initially so that we can figure out how many peacekeepers will come aboard" Cato informed her automatically as he was drawn out of his thoughts and turned his attention to the girl curled into his side "Then, as soon as we can, we'll either leave as a group or in pairs so that we can hopefully slip past unnoticed"

"Should have Thresh and Rue go first" Marvel yawns half asleep as he held Glimmer close to him against the wall across from Cato and Nyx "She's small, he's big, can take out the keepers if they aren't large numbers"

Eyeing the other boy closely, Cato tips his head in acknowledgement, Marvel had very rarely offered strategy since they met but he had a good head on his shoulders and Cato had to agree that his plan was a good one; looking over at Thresh, he nods as Thresh accepts the plan.

"Maybe Glimmer and Marvel after Thresh and Rue?" Rissa offers out to the small group that were still awake "Cato should stay with Nyx for now and other than Clove and Nyx, Glimmer is the most deadly of the girls and lithe so she can slip out easily plus Marvel can use his hands to attack as well"

This time Cato was shocked by the insight that he was given, it showed just how much they had all grown since they had escaped the arena nearly two weeks ago; Rissa was more confident speaking out and everyone else was showing their true selves as the days went by.

"I can stick back with a bow and arrow and take out whoever tries to set off an alarm?" Nyx offers quietly, she hadn't taken a human life yet but she knew that she wouldn't hesitate if it meant keeping her family safe "We don't know if Eleven is safe but I have a feeling that they are on our side so as soon as we get rid of the keepers at the station, and maybe take over their communication then we'll have an easier time getting to Thirteen without having to sneak through"

Cato sighs lightly and eyes the small group carefully, out of the ten of them, it was only the tributes from One and Two as well as Thresh and Rissa that had taken a life; Link, Coral and Rue had been saved from that in the arena as well as their fight against the keepers that hurt Nyx. The next few days were going to be hard on them all.

Nyx had told Dustin at the beginning of the games that she despised the idea of ending a new life, but that was the idea of killing other teenagers and children, while her targets were now people who had actively joined the Capitol in making the lives of their people horrible and hurting them without qualms so she would defend her family in anyway if needed.

"Let's just try and get a nap or just some chill time" Marvel announces quietly to stop the depressive thoughts from taking over the group, they were finally getting that one step closer to the safety of District Thirteen and from then on no one knew if they would be safe or would be pulled into the war that was starting; he sends a look at Cato who he knew hadn't slept properly for the past two days.

Cato rolls his eyes at the other boy before nodding slightly in recognition of the order that had been giving to him, he didn't mind differeing to either Marvel or Thresh when he needed too however he was a slightly insulted that the other boy was using that fact against him now.

"Wake me up if I'm needed" Cato tells both Marvel and Nyx as he decides to settle sitting up against the crates that he and Onyx were resting up against.

"Will do" Marvel salutes, sending a small wink over at his little sister who rolled her eyes at him and struck up a conversation with Coral as the others seemed to have felt the safety that they had in a moving train and had drifted off just as quickly as Cato and Rue.

*Time Skip*

Onyx had, in the end, been the only one to remain awake through the train journey towards what she hoped was a safe place where she could see her father once more; the rest of the group had somehow ended up in their little pairs once more which made Nyx smile as she carded her fingers through Cato's hair softly.

The blonde had somehow shifted from leaning up against the crates, to having his head in her lap while he curled up on his side; he still held himself as if there was a threat coming towards them, but Onyx had managed to chase away the beginnings of his nightmares with just a touch of her fingers to his hair.

It seemed that she was the one that could chase away his nightmares, just like Glimmer could with Marvel.

The train had been gradually slowing down for the past few minutes so she knew that she needed to wake the others up before it came to a complete halt, she didn't know if they were at District Eleven yet or if they were about to be caught; she just knew that whatever happens now, there was a high chance that the end was about to come to pass.

Kicking her foot slightly so that it met her brothers ribs, Onyx smiled innocently as he shot awake with an annoyed grunt and then spotted the way that everyone else had fallen asleep; his eyes dropped down to the peaceful looking Cato in his sisters lap and knew that he would need to have a few words with the blonde but that would be after they got to safety, from the way the train was beginning to stagger, he could tell that they were reaching their destination.

"Everyone up" Marvel called out carefully as he shook Glimmer and Clove lightly, they were the most dangerous compared to Cato and Nyx was already beginning to shake him gently.

"Time to wake up Cato" Onyx whispered to the older boy gently as she continued to card her fingers through his hair, maybe going the gentle route would be more beneficial in the future than shaking him did in the past.

Onyx knew that her father and possibly everyone else were going to have reservations about how Cato and her acted around each other, the past two hours had given Nyx a lot of time to think about what was happening and about the relationships that were begining to form between them all.

She shouldn't have become so attatched to Marvel and Glimmer as quickly as she did, especially not after they tried to kill her, but Onyx had very few people that she could openly say were worth getting past the walls that she had built up as a child. She had allowed Haymitch in and had gained a father in the drunk that made sure that she was fed and sheltered whenever he was in Twelve, and had gained aunts in Sae and Ripper even if none of them would openly admit it, there there was Darius who was like her best friend when he could get away from the other Peacekeepers.

But the moment Marvel picked her up from the floor to keep her from injuring herself further showed a side of him that he probably didn't mean to show, and from that moment on he seemed to have been getting more and more protective of her; which also resulted in her going to him more often when she needed to talk or needed company, and soon it became the same with Glimmer who tried to make her feel like she was normal instead of pitying her for her family status.

Then there was Cato, ever since the meeting on the roof, there was something about the blonde that just seemed to draw Onyx closer and closer to him; he was an enigma but she also couldn't help but notice his sense of humor, his protection over those he called 'allies' and also just how he looked at her from the moment they met; she didn't care about the age gap between them, and she had a feeling that nothing would ever happen between them until she was at least sixteen, so she didn't mind the idea of just getting to know him better.

She just hoped that they survived this war long enough for something to happen between them.

Cato slowly came back to reality and frowned as he caught Nyx looking down at him, the gentle pull of his hair distracting him from the need to jump up as her fingers continued to run through his hair; when did he end up on his side?

"Wha's going on?" he mumbled tiredly, his mind still not being able to put together what was happening as he tried to wake himself up fully.

"Train's slowing down mate" Marvel informed him as he held out a hand for Cato to take so he could pull the boy up rather than irritate Onyx's side with the small jorstling it would take for the bigger boy to get up "We need to be ready for whatever comes our way"

Frowning in confusion, Cato couldn't understand how he had slept through the entire journey without a single nightmare but accepted Marvels help as the other boy hefted him up from where he had been laying in Nyx's lap; a blush worked it's way up his neck as he realised how he had woken up and quickly averted his eyes from hers as he tried to gather his thoughts and his things up.

Shaking her head at the blush and the embarressed look that the blonde was now sporting, Nyx readily accepted her brothers hand as she pulled her up from the floor gently; he pressed a small kiss to the top of her head before moving to grab his sword as well as Glimmers hand for a quick squeeze of reassurance as the train hit the final stages of stopping.

Glimmer accepted the comfort from her possible boyfriend with a small smile and raised her bow and arrow as Thresh and Rue moved either side of the doors, the two of them knew the layout of the District and the train station better than any of the others so hopefully they'd make it to the communications tower before anyone could raise an alarm or Rue could hide before any bloodshed occured.

"We should have five minutes of obscured view before we get to the communications tower" Thresh had informed the group earlier on after Cato had fallen asleep, so they were hoping that in those five minutes; there would be little to no casualties.

The train finally came to a smooth stop as the entire group tensed on edge and waiting to see what would happen as soon as the doors to the train carriage opened.

It wasn't worth the worry.

Nyx was seriously confused, there was nothing waiting for them, there were no peacekeepers waiting to unload the supplies that should have been in the trains cargo hold but there was also no sign of her father or any kind of resistence.

"Is this it?" Coral asked confused as she poked her head around Thresh to see the empty streets and yet they could hear some sort of noise coming from further in the District.

Rue and Thresh both shared a looked before taking a step out of the train in unison and motioning for the others to follow them as they began to head away from the still waiting train, heading towards a large tower which seemed to be close to where the noise was coming from.

"The only reason that there would be no one at the station would be something happening at the Justice House" Rue explained softly as she darted a few steps ahead to scout the street that they were about to cross through.

Thresh looked like he wanted to pull his niece back to him but he knew that she would have less of a chance of being seen by peacekeepers because she had been doing stuff like this for years, he also knew that she had a better understanding of the Districts layout than him because he had been working longer than him so didn't know all the buildings that had been put up since he was her age.

"Which means we have a better shot at knocking out communications, but something bad is happening in the square" Thresh clarified as he headed the group towards their hope of survival.

Marvel and Cato glanced at each other before nodding, if something was happening in the town square then they wanted to know what was going on and wanted to help in any way they could; but that would mean splitting up and they weren't sure if they wanted Onyx with them or with Rue who they hoped to send ahead with Rissa, Coral and Link to try and kill the alarm system.

"We're going to split up aren't we" Clove commented flippantly as she caught the looks that the both boys sent one another, she knew the moment that Thresh and Rue said about something going on in the square; that at least some of them would be making a detor.

"That's the plan" Marvel sighs lightly
