Chapter 28- The Echo Caves

Morgan's POV

I look longingly into the Neverwoods. It feels like it's been forever since I've last had a break from Pan and the Lost Boys to help Henry get home. I may not be mad at Pan for tricking me anymore, but I always stick with something once I start it, I NEVER give up. But the funny thing is that when Pan tricked me, I had a new appreciation for him, he is the only person I've ever met that has deceived me and lived to tell the tale. You see, it wasn't like the typical he cheated on me for another girl, but rather tricking me to do something for him, which is quite impressive saying I'm quite manipulative myself. But I'd NEVER admit this to anyone; I myself am not even sure about these so-called human emotions.

I knew I wouldn't be able to stay inside the camp for much longer. Today I'd have to make, yet another, escape, and hopefully find annoying grownups numbers one through five. All I need to do is to find a way to get Henry and his family off Neverland. Maybe they have an idea on how to get off Neverland, I'd help, and then my unofficial obligation would be over.

But before I could even think of an escape plan, I overheard Pan talking to Felix with some very interesting information. Apparently, they were going to move this guy named Neal to the Echo Caves so annoying grownups numbers one through four could find him, Regina was currently MIA. I would have to get to the Echo Caves fast, but not before the Lost Boys, that's a must avoid.

Peter Pan's POV

After I had given some Lost Boys instructions of where to take Baelfire, or Neal, whatever he calls himself these days, I went to look for Morgan. I hadn't spoken to her in forever, okay it was yesterday, but still, I like talking to her, she's got spunk. However, I couldn't find her anywhere. And it wasn't like I could miss her, she was the only girl in the camp, it's kinda hard to miss, especially if you have some sort of feelings for her. But I'd never admit that to anyone, I've got a reputation to uphold you know.

I started to ask around camp, but no one knew where she was. They said that she was here a little bit ago, but now she was gone. That could only mean one thing, she ran.

Morgan's POV

I knew I was probably stupid to escape saying that I've done it many times before, but I knew I had to help Henry escape before I forget, and knowing myself, I can be very forgetful. I was now sitting on top of the Echo Caves, impatiently waiting for the annoying fairy tale characters to arrive, point their weapons at me, and then stop "threatening" me when they saw who I was. They are kinda predictable, which isn't good saying we're on a place where imagination runs wild, meaning they're screwed without my help.

"Morgan? Why are you here?", Snow asks.

"Got bored", I reply.

"How did you even know we'd be here", Emma counters.

"Pan's been blabbing about this all morning to Felix. He really needs to get better at knowing who's around. He's kinda an idiot if you ask me".

"How did you even escape?", Snow questions.

"It's really not escaping; it's more like leaving the camp unnoticed. They're Lost Boys, not exactly known for being smart or doing anything without Pan telling them".

"What is this place?", Charming asks, focusing on where we were.

"Echo Cave", Hook responds.

"You know it?"

"All too well. I lost half my crew inside those rock walls. The only way to rescue someone from inside is to reveal a secret".

"A secret? That's all?', Snow asks.

"Your darkest secret. Echo cave derives its name from an old saying...the deeper the lie, the more truth in its echo. The cave demands that you reveal a truth about yourself. A secret you would never admit to anyone", Hook responds. Shit…I had to choose to help them in the place where I'd have to spill my darkest secret. I really need to think things through better.

"This is ridiculous", Emma says.

"Don't kill the messenger love", Hook replies.

"Even if we spill our guts, how do we know Neal's still alive in there?". Hey who knew, actually someone here has some common sense, I'm shocked.

"Because this is what Pan wants. He wants us to rescue him".

"Why exactly would Pan want to help you? It's not like you guys are on good terms with Pan", I say.

"So that we reveal our secrets. He believes once we do, our secrets will destroy us", Hook responds.

Peter Pan's POV

I can't find Morgan anywhere! It's almost like she disappeared, but that's impossible, I know where anyone is on MY island…so why can't I find her. I even sent out some of my best trackers, but they couldn't find her either. I guess I would have to wait until I can find her. And I NEVER fail, just as difficult of a person Morgan is, it will just take some time…

Morgan's POV

When we enter the fearsome Echo Cave, there was a guy in a cage across from us. Easy rescue, right? Haha, nope. There was one teeny little problem, there was a giant gorge between us and Neal, whoever the hell that was.

As we walk in, he notices us and lays eyes on one particular person, Emma.

"Emma!", he shouts, his voice echoing throughout the cave. I guess that's why they call it Echo Cave, not really original if I do say so myself.

"Neal", Emma says, kinda quietly.

"It must be a hundred feet across", Snow says.

"It's probably further", I mutter.

"Even if we fashioned some sort of rope, there's nothing to attach it to. No way to swing over", Charming states, ignoring my negative attitude.

"So what should we do?", Emma asks, even though Hook told us what unfortunately have to do only minutes ago.

"I told you what needs to be done. Consider this the moment of truth, literally. Now... who wants to kick things off?", Hook says.

"So what, someone tells their secret and they sprout wings?".

"I don't know the particulars, only what I've been told".

"Then how the hell do you know that it will even work?", I ask, leaning against a rock off to the side, giving me some distance from everybody else.

"There's only one way to find out, I suppose", Hook says. He pauses dramatically for a while until, at last, he continues. "I kissed Emma", he finally blurts out, turning to face Emma.

"YOU DID WHAT?", Charming asks angrily.

"David, now is not the time", Snow says to her husband. Aw, she just had to kill the rising right, just when something interesting happens, it disappears.

"I already told Mary Margaret, so technically it's not a secret. But it was just a kiss. How's that your darkest secret?", Emma says to Hook. Ooh, drama, popcorn would be really nice at a time like this.

"My secret is, I never thought I'd be capable of letting go of my first love... of my Milah... to believe that I could find someone else that is, until I met you", Hook responds. Wow, a sensitive Captain Hook in love, never saw that coming.

Before Emma or anyone could respond for that matter, the rocks began to form a bridge from where Neal was being held. So I guess that's how this expose your darkest secret thing works. Sprouting wings would be a whole lot cooler, but whatever, at least I wasn't the one who tested to see how it works.

"Mary Margaret…", Charming starts to say before Snow cuts him off.

"No, no, no. Me next", Snow says. She pauses slightly before continuing. "Ever since the curse broke, since we found each other, since we found Emma... And all of that happiness, there is something I haven't wanted to admit. Our daughter is a beautiful, smart, amazing woman whom I love very much, and of whom I could not be more proud. But she's all grown up".

"And…", Charming asks, clearly confused why Snow was telling him this. But you really can't blame the guy; I don't see anything to hide in this, especially saying Snow was telling this to Charming, not Emma.

"As much as I wanna pretend I'm okay with that, I'm not. We missed it, David. What we have with her is unique, but it's not what I wanted. We were cheated out of everything... her first step, her first word, her first smile. We missed it all", Snow replies.

"What are you saying?"

"When we get off this island and get back to Storybrooke, I want another go at it. I wanna have another baby". Wow, THIS is her darkest secret; she really needs to get out more.

Just like when Hook had exposed his secret, the ground began to shake and the rock bridge began to form even more, now at the halfway mark.

"Nothing in this world would make me happier, and I know with all my heart that you would make an amazing mother. But it can never happen, at least not with me", Charming says to Snow.

"What do you mean?", Snow asks Charming, rather confused. I was equally confused, he was young and healthy, surely they could have another child with no problem at all.

"When Hook and I went to search for the sextant, he was really taking me to find a cure".

"A cure for what?"

"Dreamshade". Wait, there's a cure for that? Shit, well I guess I can cross off 'poison Lost Boys with dreamshade' off the list on how to get Henry off Neverland.

"The lost boys, the arrow... you pushed me out of the way..."

"…I wasn't fast enough, I was hit. Hook was able to find a cure, but it comes at a price. I can't leave Neverland. If I do, I'll die", Charming says to Snow. Well that's gotta put a wedge in their "perfect" relationship. There's nothing better than death to break up a relationship. On the bright side, Snow is about to become a free woman, maybe Emma can lend Snow one of the men who are currently falling head over heels for Emma.

And yet again, the ground began to shake as the rock bridge grew even farther. But, it had still not completely reached us. One more secret would have to be told for the rock bridge to reach where we were. So either Emma or I would have to reveal a secret…great.

Emma and I looked at each other, trying to pressure the other to reveal their secret with the determined look in our eyes. Suddenly, Emma broke away, and stared at Neal, well played.

Sighing, I knew what I had to do; I would reveal the darkest of my many dark secrets. I would probably regret this later, but I made a promise to myself that I would get Henry the hell off this island, and I would do just that.

Taking a deep breath, I was finally ready to reveal my darkest secret. Having no one to really say this to, I faced the gorge, ready to spill my guts. "Ever since I was seven years old, I've lived where people feared me, it was great. Ever since then, I never had to deal with mean girls or school bullies cause they were too afraid to even look me in the eye. And those who were brave enough to double cross me would spread what happens to those who get on my bad side. But then, I came here. This was the first time where I have ever felt different. Neverland is the first time I've been afraid in a long time", I say. I knew they would try to say something to me if I looked them in the eyes, so I completely avoided eye contact.

The ground began to shake, once again, this time the rock bridge finally reached us. We all looked at Emma, as she was the only one who hadn't revealed their secret.

Emma's POV

I unsheathed Neal's cutlass and began walking to the cage Neal was being kept in. Once I reached the cage, I kneeled down so I could talk to him.

"You okay?", I ask Neal.

"Yeah, but….", Neal starts before I cut him off.

"I know, we're going to take care of him. I just need to get you out of here first". I began hacking away at the cage, but the cage, more like crate, wasn't breaking.

"Emma!", Neal yells at me and I stop. "You know this isn't how it works. It's okay, you can tell me anything", Neal continues.

"When I heard you might be here, and that you might still be alive, I knew I should be happy, but I wasn't. I was terrified. I didn't understand why until now. From the moment I saw you in New York, in the instant you stepped back in my life, I knew. I knew I'd never stopped loving you. And before I even had a chance to take a breath, I...I lost you once more, and all that pain that I had pushed down for all those years, it just came... rushing back, and I...I didn't know if I could go through it again. I love you. I probably always will. But my secret...Is that I was hoping that this was a trick. I was hoping you were dead because it would be easier for me to put you behind me than to face all the pain that we went through all over again", I say between sobs.

Then, the bars keeping Neal in vanished and the two of us kissed.

"Emma, there something I need to tell you. When we were in New York, it was you who told me that Henry was my son", Neal says.

"Yeah, so…", I ask, awaiting for something I didn't already know.

"Now it's my turn".

"What do you mean? Are you pregnant or something? Usually I don't judge, but that would be a little strange".

"There's a girl on Neverland, her name is Morgan".

"Yeah, I've met her, she's over there", I say, indicating to the other side of the cave where she was standing.

"You didn't let me finish. When I first got here, I was captured by Felix, but before I escaped, he told me that Morgan was my daughter and Henry's twin. At first I was a little unsure, but then Pan also told me the same thing. Emma, Morgan is our daughter, and she's also Henry's twin sister", Neal tells me.

I look at him in shock, trying to find words.
