Normal POV
(everybody is now together at the police station)
Garth parked in the parking lot of the sheriff's department, and Lilly and Garth walked in and made their way to the office Humphrey, Kate, and Janice were in. Humphrey was on the phone.
"Ok Great! Awesome!" Humphrey finished and hung up.
"hey guys!" He said turning to Lilly and Garth. They both waved and smiled weakly.
"So my friends Mooch and Salty are in on this too, but can't make it today, they're pretty upset about it, you know, the whole thing..." Humphrey trailed off unintelligently.
"Well that's great!" Lilly said excitedly. She then saw Satearious and Brisn and grew a bit shy and cowered behind Garth ever so slightly.
Garth picked up on her hesitation and reached forward offering a hand shake to Brian and Satearious. "Garth" he said, smiling a bit.
"Nice to meet you," Brian said.
Satearious nodded as he shook Garth's hand.
Just then, the receptionist from the front office popped in and asked to speak to Brian in the halls. A few moments later, the young wolves were left alone with Saterious in Brian's small office, which contained a lot of black and navy blue furniture. Mostly Mohogany, but not the expensive looking type, just the cheap stuff.
Saterious remained quiet, and there was an awkward tention between the six of them. But luckily, Brian was back in a matter of seconds, sporting a smile.
"Well, good news! You guys can stay in school and continue your normal lives and continue on this project!"
The five teens looked at each other, not seeming so thrilled by this.
"Just when I thought I was through with my family," Lilly mumbled to herself.
"Aww, you mean we don't get to fake our deaths and ruin our family's lives?" Humphrey asked jokingly, trying to ease the tension in the room. But he only resulted in being silent for a while, getting the hint from everyone else that now is not the time for fun and games.
"Well, all you have to do for now is tell your folks that you will be taking on more after school activities, and that's when you will come down here. Seems that each of you have your own means of transportation...somewhat, but we can always give you a lift if you need one,"
There was a moment of silence, and then Satearious spoke up, "Each of you seems eager to help your friend, but you need to know that you cannot tell anyone about this, especially if you do choose to continue your work with the secret services. And also..," Satearious paused a bit, "You must know that you aren't in safe environments ever once you join this group. Maybe not at first, but criminals will find out your ties with us, and I'll just leave it at that, since you know what I'm getting at."
"We really don't," Janice said.
"It means people will want you dead smartass," Satearious said in response to Janice's sass.
Shakeys POV
Ahh fuck. This is the third time I pissed myself. It's been three days now, and my captors give me little food and water, but I'm still alive, and I'm not calling it quits yet.
I can't see anything, I still have a blind fold on, and I'm fiend to a chair in the middle of a large room. My mouth is also still taped, and they retired all my restraints after seeing what I did with the glow sticks, but fortunately they didn't realize what the real use of them was. The room I am in is a smooth cement square. I can tell because of the sounds the dripping water from the ceiling makes when it hits the ground. It's resonance and reverb tells me the room is relatively empty, and smooth all around. I know one of the wolves that captured me is always around here somewhere. If he isn't it's because he switched places with another one of his accomplices. From what I can tell, this lace seems to be a fortress in the woods. I heard guns being loaded as I was walking in three days ago, and I heard them still sometimes. If I didn't know any better, I'd think these guys were going to war.
I heard footsteps approaching, two or three people. They stop in front of me. I brace for an impact. Unknowing of if it will be a punch, kick, or a blunt object, or where on my body they will target. But instead, one of them grabs the tape on my mouth and rips it off. Instantly my jaw starts moving around to try and regain a sense of feeling. I pick up a motion similar to one used to chew gum until I can feel it again. One of them speaks.
"Do you know why you're here?" Seems like a question I was expecting.
"N-no" I said, getting used to talking.
"Hmm". The other one said, and smacked my cheek. I felt a sharp sting as my head whiplashed.
"Do you know why you're here?" He repeated.
I took a wild guess. "Drugs?" I asked in a squeaky voice.
There was a pause. "Why didn't you say that the first time dumbass?" One said.
"Do you see why we have an issue here? We sent you $500,000 and you didn't supply the drugs. You know how stupid that makes us look? Do you think this is a fucking game?"
I thought quickly of what to say. 'Shit these guys think I'm a drug dealer! They're not gunna believe me if I tell them they have the wrong guy. Uhh dammit think!'
"Answer the fucking question!" The one with the lower voice asked.
"Okay okay!" I said, "I really don't mean to make you guys seem like idiots, but do you know who I am?"
"A fucking dumbass!" They both laughed.
"No seriously! I really think you've got the wrong guy!"
They both stopped laughing. I felt a kick to my chest, my chair flipped over and I smacked my head on the ground, and I felt dizzy. They pulled me back up.
"Don't fucking lie, you're one of the Mack brothers! Don't fucking lie are you a Mack brother?!" I heard him load his gun. But a third, more calm voice spoke up.
"Easy, easy." This man must be a leader or something because they listened to him. He continued to speak. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Tommy, and the guy about to put a .45 in your skull is José. Now José is a real nice guy if your on his good side. But you're not on his good side, so let's see if we can fix that. Are you one of the Mack brothers?" He asked quizzically.
I felt demoralized I knew they had one, so I gave them what they wanted; an answer. I lifted my head, now dripping blood from my cut lips as I croaked, "I am Shaky Mack,"
Those who you feel you can trust, are those you should trust. Those who you feel you should not trust, don't. But who said that? A man of will? Bravery? Honor? Well, no man said that. It is just what people believe. They trust their wit, their gut feeling on something. But how often are they walking away from their situation feeling confident they trusted the right person? Many a time humans make mistakes. Trusting that discoveries of other men will remain true for an eternity. Trusting their best friends will keep their deepest secrets for eternity. Trusting their true love will love them for eternity. But for me, eternity does not exist.
