Chapter 31-Trusting Pan

Henry's POV

I was following Felix, in the shadows, when he suddenly dropped a bag of food at a ladder. I was trying to decide what I should do when I heard coughing. I went with my gut feeling, grabbed the food, and climbed the ladder only to find a girl a little younger than me lying in a bed.

"Who are you? You're not supposed to be here", she says as I approach her.

"I know. I thought Pan might be keeping my family here. Why are you so far away from the camp?", I reply as I set the food at the foot of her bed.

"I'm...I'm sick, and he's afraid someone might catch it".

"Who are you?"

"My name's Wendy?".

"Wendy Darling?"

"I'm Henry. W... what's wrong?"

"It's the island, Henry. Its power is fading. I've been here a long time, but...well... for some reason, it's affecting me more than the others. You look like him".

"Like who?"

"Your father".

"You knew my father?"

"We were friends. A long time ago, when he was just a little bit younger than you. He saved my brothers from danger. He would do anything for my family".

Suddenly, Wendy goes into a bad coughing fit.

"Are you gonna be okay?", I ask Wendy.

"You should go", Wendy replies.

"M... maybe there's something I could do to help".

"Just please, I don't want you to catch what I have. Pan is already doing everything that he can. But the magic here...I fear it is not enough".

"There has to be a way..."

"Please go, before you, too, become ill".

"I'll come back for you. I promise".

Peter Pan's POV

I was leaning against a tree, waiting for Henry to come back to the camp after having a little chat with little 'sick' Wendy. For a girl as terrified as herself she actually did quite the good acting job. A heard someone approach me from behind, I assumed it was either Henry or Felix, but instead it was Morgan.

"Look who has finally warmed up to me", I say to Morgan.

"In your dreams", Morgan replies.

"Oh, I know I'm in YOUR dreams".

"Okay, ignoring that. I didn't come here to listen to you be a creeper".

"But you LOVE it".

"Keep telling yourself that".

"You coming to talk to me is all the proof I need".

"Whatever".

"Then why don't you tell me why you came up to me".

"Did you really mean what you said?"

"You need to be a little more specific laddie cause I say a lot of things to many people".

"The thing you said to me earlier today".

"The thing about you and Henry being different?"

"No you idiot, the other thing".

"From the moment you got here I felt…something…when I was with you".

"I know what you mean. I always feel…different…when I'm with you".

"I've been meaning to give you this for a long time", I blurt out, breaking the awkward moment. Before she could ask what I meant by this, I snapped my fingers and a gold locket appeared on her neck. But it was no ordinary locket as the giver, me, would be able to find the wearer, her, wherever they may be.

"What is this?", she asks me.

"A locket", I respond simply, with plenty of duh in my voice.

"I know that. Why did you give it to me?"

"It's pretty. Don't girls like pretty things?"

"Maybe stupid girls".

"So not the jewelry type I see".

"You could say that".

"Why is that?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why are you so different? Most other girls would be swooning over me".

"Well I'm not like other girls".

"That's why I like you".

"Huh?"

"You're a challenge, a game. You rise to a challenge, despite your odds".

"So…everything is just a game to you?"

Before I could respond, Henry walks up to us, promptly ending our conversation, with a glum look on his face. Perfect, I guess little Wendy did play her part rather well in fact, now they'll both be even more than willing to help me.

Morgan's POV

"Why so glum chum?", Pan asks Henry.

"You said that you weren't keeping any secrets, but you lied to me, to the both of us. I found Wendy", Henry replies angrily, well at least trying to be angry, Henry responds.

"Henry, I can explain…"

"She's dying, isn't she?"

"I'm afraid she is. Like much of the island, because the magic here is slipping away".

"Wait…what the fuck is going on?", I ask, rather confused.

"There's another girl on this island, her name is Wendy Darling. As the island has been growing weaker, so has she, in only a matter of time she will die", Pan responds.

"Why didn't you tell us?", Henry asks Pan.

"I would've told you, told the both of you, but…I didn't want to put that weight on both of your shoulders, knowing that a young girl's life…depends on the both of you". Oh, great…I have to save someone, yeah, like that's totally me, saving people and such bullshit.

"So…we're basically the only ones who can save magic, huh?", I ask Pan.

"You are", he responds.

"How do we do it", Henry asks.

"The question isn't how, it's where. Follow me", Pan says to Henry and I. We follow him until we see an island offshore that has a giant skull on it. My guess is that this is Skull Rock.

"See that?", Pan asks us.

"Is that Skull Rock?", Henry asks. No…that's the gumdrops and candy tree. Man, would it hurt for him to think logically for a second.

"Yes. Inside is where our salvation awaits…a salvation that only the hearts of the truest believers can bring".

"Us?", Henry asks.

"That's right. But I won't lie to you guys, it won't be easy. It'll require heroism and sacrifice. The only real question is are you two up for the task?", Pan says to us.

"Yes", Henry says.

"Sure, why not", I reply, knowing that agreeing now just saved SO much time in the long run. Between Henry and Pan AKA the two most persistent people I have ever met, it just saves me my breath.
