Chapter 33- Save Morgan and Henry
Emma's POV
"Oh god, are they unconscious?", I ask as me, Neal, and Regina try to shake the twins awake.
"Henry, Morgan, can you hear us?", Regina asks the motionless teens. I got to say I was surprised when Regina said Morgan's name, especially since she was doubtful of Morgan in the beginning
"They passed out as soon as their hearts went into Pan", Neal replies sadly.
"Are they breathing?", Regina asks.
"I don't know", Neal replies. Suddenly, Pan began to descend from the air with an odd look in his eyes, a mixture of victory and grief. But that couldn't be right, could it?
"What the hell did you do to them?", I ask Pan angrily.
"Oh, I didn't do anything, Emma. It was them. They offered me their hearts of their own free will", Pan replied smugly.
"I'm gonna take it back from you", I say as I unsheathe Neal's sword . But as I lunge forward, Pan disappears.
"I don't think you have it in you", Pan says from behind me, I turn around to face him to see him picking up Pandora's Box from a rock. "Rumplestiltskin didn't. Why should you?"
"Where is he?"
"What did you do?", Neal questions Pan.
"Oh, he's right in this box. Safe and sound. And out of the way. Unfortunately for you, he can't hurt me anymore. And neither can you", Pan responds.
"Really?", I ask Pan, then cut him with the sword. "How did that feel?"
"Like a tickle", Pan replies before flying off into the air.
"How are they?", I ask Regina after Pan leaves. Regina casts a spell on their still bodies before replying to me about their current condition.
"This preservation spell can keep them in this condition for a while longer. Buy us time to get to Pan", she finally replies. I look at Neal, he gives me a weak smile. Wait a minute, Neal, he used to live here.
"You were a Lost Boy. Any idea where he went?", I say to him.
"Well, I, I know where he lived. Where his compound...", Neal began before Regina cut him off.
"That's idiotic. We all know that. Think he's stupid enough to go back? Please", Regina says.
"Enough", I tell her.
"Don't tell me what's enough. My son is dying!"
"Our son, and not to mention his twin sister. So, yes, I know how you feel".
"You have no idea what I feel. You have your parents. You have this…person; a pirate who pines for you. You have everything and yet you claim to know what I feel? All I have is Henry and I'm not about to lose him because he is everything.
"You're right. I don't know what you feel. So what do you want to do? You want to run the show? Run it. How do we save them?"
"I don't know".
"Even if we can find Pan, he was probably powerful before without Henry's heart. I-I don't know if we can hurt him", Neal says in response.
"Yes, we can. Look. You nicked him. He can bleed. We can hurt him. And if we can hurt him, we can kill him. And we will", Regina says to me, in reference to my sword.
Regina's POV
"Gold is in a box. And David can never leave the island", Snow says sadly. Can't she focus on what's truly important, my son, and his annoying sister, are DYING.
"Mary Margaret, that doesn't matter. I've already made peace with that. What matters is Henry. How much time do we have left?", Charming responds to Snow, then asks me the last part.
"Maybe an hour before the preservation spell wears off", I say, not letting my voice crack.
"If he's airborne, he can be anywhere on the island", Neal says.
"Now is just as much time I suggest we get started looking", the pirate tells us. Yeah, like I was going to listen to a one-handed pirate with a drinking problem to help me when my son's life was at risk.
"Where is he?!", I ask Felix angrily as I storm up to him.
"Gone. There's nothing you can do. He's already won. Pan never fails", Felix responds.
"You won't talk? How about I make you talk? I then move closer to him so I can rip his heart out and make him tell us where Pan is. But before I could, Emma stopped me.
"Regina, wait", Emma says to me.
"There's no time!", I tell her.
"I don't think torture is our best move here. Look at these kids. They've been to hell and back. We need to try something else".
"Yeah, good luck with that. They don't respond to reason. What else do you have to offer?"
"What every kid wants. A mother".
Emma's POV
"Guys, listen to me. We are not going to hurt you. I know you're loyal to Pan and I get that, but you are making a terrible mistake. For a long time, I thought I was never gonna find my family. I was an orphan like all of you. A lost girl. And I was reminded today that I am not alone. That I have a lot of people who love me. And I never thought that was gonna happen. If that can happen to me, it can happen to you", I say to the lost boys, glancing back at Mary Margaret and David every now and then.
"Pan is the only family we need", Felix replies.
"No, family doesn't do what he did. Pan lied to you and made you do terrible things. He lied to Henry and Morgan and convinced them to give up their own hearts!"
"To save the island", a young lost boy says.
"No, to save himself", I reply.
"Don't listen to her. Pan cares about all of us", Felix insists.
"No, he doesn't. We care about you. And we can save you. We can take you home with us. To our land. There's no reason to fear Pan anymore. Until he absorbs the power from Henry's heart, he can be stopped", I tell the other boys.
"You just have to tell us where he is", Mary Margaret adds.
"Leave now while Pan still allows you to breathe. That's the only hope you'll get", Felix tells us.
"Where is Pan?", I ask Felix sternly.
"Not. Telling".
"Can you really bring us home?", the same lost boy from before asks me. My face lights up, we might be able to save Morgan and Henry.
"Shut your mouth!", Felix yells at the lost boy.
"Yes, with your help", I say to the lost boy, kneeling in front of him.
"His thinking tree", the lost boy says quietly.
"NOOO!", Felix yells, horrified.
"Yes, his thinking tree", an older lost boy confirms.
"STOP IT! ALL OF YOU!", Felix yells at the lost boys.
"What is that?", I ask the lost boy who first spoke up.
"That's where he goes when he wants to be alone", he replies.
"You can find him there. It's not far", the older lost boy tells me.
"No, don't trust her!", Felix screams, but the lost boys continue to ignore him.
"Can you tell us where that is?", I ask the younger lost boy
"But you have to swear... swear that you'll take us with you", he responds.
"I promise. We are going home", I say with tears forming in my eyes.
Third Person's POV
"The Pixie Woods? That's where he is?", Regina asks the lost boys
"It's just north of here. It's where the pixie dust used to grow", the young lost boy replies.
"You know where that is?", Emma asks the pirate.
"Aye. The whole region is deserted now. No one but Pan has set foot in those woods in centuries", Hook responds.
"Then let's make history", Neal says.
"We're gonna need you here. Once we get Henry's heart, it's a race back. We need help on both ends", Emma says to Neal.
"Okay", Neal responds.
"What do you need from us?, Charming asks Neal.
"Let's gather up the Lost Boys and get them aboard the Jolly Roger. Prepare the ship to fly".
"Let's hope you have a Pegasus sail", Hook says to Neal.
"Pan's shadow is in here. If your ship holds together, there should be no problem", Neal replies.
"As long as your plan holds together, she will".
"The twins are gonna be with me the entire time. Nothing is gonna happen while you two are away", Neal tells Emma.
"You mean three. I may be trapped on this island for the rest of eternity, so if you think I'm not going to be spending my last moments with my daughter, you're crazy", Snow says, making it clear that Emma had no say in the matter.
"Okay. Let's do it", Emma replied.
Emma's POV
The lost boys had been right; the Pixie Woods weren't that far from the camp, but Pan was nowhere to be seen.
"Look", Regina says, in reference to Pandora's box sitting on a rock. As get ready to fight by pulling out my sword, Mary Margaret moves closer to the box.
"Careful. Pan wouldn't have just left it behind for no reason", Regina says to Mary Margaret.
"It's David's only way home. Without Gold, we're stuck here", Mary Margaret says. She then tries to grab the box, but vines shoot out and tie her to the tree behind us.
"Mary Margaret!", I yell. Then vines shoot out and Regina and I are tied to the same tree. We try to get out, but no matter how much we struggle, nothing happens. Then Pan comes out from behind the tree, picking up the sword I dropped.
"You're still at it. Don't you know Peter Pan never fails? I didn't expect you to find me. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. You're mothers. Quite tenacious about your offspring. But if you're looking to see Henry or Morgan again, I have to tell you there's only one place you'll be reunited—in death", Pan says evilly.
Angered, Regina struggles even harder against the vines than before, but as before, nothing happens.
Peter Pan's POV
"Having trouble moving? Can't be surprised given where you are. Do you see what is hastening your demise is your regret?", I say to the trio of mothers.
"What are you talking about?", the Savior asks me.
"This tree is the site of a very important event for me. I betrayed my best friend here".
"Who? Felix? I don't think that really qualifies", The Evil Queen says.
"He was never a lost boy, but we were close", I reply.
"If you were close, you must regret losing him", Emma says.
"But I don't. Quite the opposite, actually. See, I have him all boxed up so I don't lose him again", I respond, playing with Pandora's box in my hands.
"Rumplestiltskin was your friend?", Regina asks incredulously.
"That he was. But how would you know anything about friendships, no one EVER liked you", I tell the Evil Queen.
"How's that possible? You're…", Snow White starts.
"Younger than him? Not really. Just like you and your daughter", I say, cutting her off early.
"You're a fraud. Your magic is weakened. You can't even hurt us; let alone Rumplestiltskin", Regina says, feeling smug about herself.
"You're right. But that's why I'm here. This tree will protect me till my power's restored. And then, well... then I get to have some real fun", I reply with a smirk.
"There has to be another way", Emma says after another failed attempt to escape the vines.
"You're not going to get to me. See, this tree attacks the regret inside anyone who comes here, and you, you've got plenty".
"I regret not taking a better shot at you when I had the chance".
"Better luck next time. But that's not all, is it, savior? No. I have your son's heart inside me. I can feel just how much you let him down time and time again. And as for your daughter, do you know how miserable you've made her in these past fifteen years, and she hasn't known you for most of it. She was pretty much BEGGING for me to take her, she was so lost I didn't even need to kidnap her".
"Leave her alone", Snow White says to me before I could pick at Emma any more.
"Perhaps I should. After all, what chance did you have of being a good mother? Look at the example you set. Abandoning her for twenty-eight years", I say to her.
"Are you finished?", Regina asks.
"Last words from the Queen. Perhaps a deathbed confession from the one who has the most regrets of all", I say to the Evil Queen.
"Yeah, there's one problem with that. I did cast a curse that devastated an entire population. I have tortured and murdered. I've done some terrible things. I should be overflowing with regret, but, I'm not", Regina says. She then pulls herself, as well as her companions, free from the vines. "Because it got me my son", she finishes. Regina then rips the twins' hearts from my chest, successfully catching Morgan's heart when they separated into two hearts once again. I fall to the ground, desperately trying to grab Pandora's box, but Emma grabbed it while it was still out of my reach.
"Now let's go save Henry and Morgan", Regina says triumphantly.
Emma's POV
"Morgan? Henry? Where are they?", I shout as Regina, Mary Margaret, and I rush onto the Jolly Roger.
"They're over here!", Neal shouts. Regina and I kneel over their bodies, each one of us holding a heart, which I got to say felt pretty weird and creepy. I was holding Morgan's slightly blackened heart and Regina was holding Henry's pure heart.
"Hold on", Regina says to the twins still bodies, but more to Henry's body. Regina and I then pushed their hearts back into their bodies, hoping to revive them.
"Henry? Morgan?", I ask hopefully, but there is still no response. "Are we too late?", I ask.
"Henry? Honey!", Regina says.
"Morgan? You've fought magic before, do it now. Come back to us", Neal says.
The twins gasp to life. While Henry hugged everyone, Morgan seemed really unsure of what to do. But David, Mary Margaret, Neal, and I didn't let that last long as we hugged her whether or not she wanted to be hugged.
"Woah, woah, woah. Take it easy, buddy", Neal says to Henry.
"I'm sorry. I wanted to save magic", Henry replies.
"It's okay. It's okay", I tell him.
"I-I wanted to be a hero".
"Hey, there's plenty of time for that", David says.
"Right now, it's time to rest", Mary Margaret adds.
"We're fine", Morgan insists.
"But almost dying can tire you out", I reply.
"Well not me", Morgan says stubbornly.
"I guess the almost dying thing runs in the family", David jokes to Mary Margaret.
"What?", Henry asks confused.
"He doesn't know, does he?", I ask Morgan, even though I'm pretty sure I already knew the answer.
"Nope", Morgan replies.
"Know what?", Henry asks.
"Henry, when I was pregnant, I wasn't just pregnant with you, I gave birth to you AND your twin sister. I've known this since the day you showed up at my apartment. Henry, Morgan is your twin sister", I tell Henry, leaving a shocked expression on his face.
Henry's POV
I had convinced Morgan to come below deck with me, but she still refused to get in the other bed that was down in the room we were in.
"Oh, I know that look. Five hours of Space Paranoids and too much pizza", Regina says to me.
"Pizza's good", I reply. Regina then put a spell on both Morgan and I. While she doesn't seem to be affected, I wince in pain.
"It stings. What's that for?"
"A spell. So no one can ever take your heart ever again".
"Thanks, mom". Regina then decides to leave the room, leaving just me and Morgan.
I then sit up to adjust my blanket and lie back down. When I do, Pan appears beside my bed. I notice too late as Pan takes out a blade at me. Morgan stands there unsure of what to do.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this", Pan says.
Morgan's POV
"Wha-what are you doing?", Henry asks Pan. I wanted to go over there and help Henry, but Pan had used magic so I couldn't move my feet.
"I wanted your heart, Henry. But your mother took it away from me. Left me for dead. What a mistake", Pan says. He then tries to tear out Henry's heart, but since the spell wouldn't let him, he then attempts to rip Henry's shadow off.
"What are you doing?!", Henry asks Pan in pain.
"Pandora's box works both ways", Rumplestiltskin says as he opens the box.
Pan still refuses to let go of Henry's shadow even as the box begins absorbing him away. Pan has already released his magic hold on me and is getting sucked into the box. I saw their eyes flash for a second, but thought nothing of it as it could've just been the light.
"No!", Pan screams as he is sucked into the box.
Peter Pan's POV
I pick up a plate of food and make my way over to Felix while in Henry's body. I hold it out for Felix, but him doesn't take it.
"Go away, boy. I'm not hungry", Felix says.
"But I came to thank you", I respond.
"No matter what those other traitors do, I'm on Pan's side. And Pan…"
"Never fails".
"What?"
"You heard me. Peter Pan never fails. He can't be stopped even when they think he's defeated. When they think they've won, he finds a way".
"So you think you're not safe?"
"Oh, no, I'm perfectly safe. During our struggle, my fate was sealed. The one who's in trouble is Henry".
"But you're Henry".
"Not anymore". I smirk.
"You. You switched".
"You sure you're not hungry?"
"Thank you, Pan".
"Now, let's play".
