Chapter 37-Going Home

Peter Pan's POV

"Hello, Peter", Rumple says to me when he notices I'm awake and in my own body.

"Thought you'd kill me in my sleep, laddie", I say sitting up. "I guess you changed your…", but then I cut myself off when I notice a black cuff on my arm, the cuff I gave to the two idiots while they were still alive. "Oh, wait. I see. You've taken away my magic. That's why it's so easy for you to strut around and pose now, isn't it?"

"I wanted to talk to you. I wanted you to see me and think about what you've done".

"Of course. To look at my friend here at the end and really see him and think about what might've been. Is that what you want? Because I do. I remember you talking about the life we could've had together if I would grow up with you. The two of us could've grown up together, I could've stopped conning people out of their money and possessions at that pub, but we both know I could never do that. I don't regret choosing Neverland over you, the choice was rather easy. And still after all that time, I was still pestered by my dear friend who I wanted out of my life. But I got my payment when your son Baelfire came to Neverland. You know he had no hope that you would ever come for him. When I got rid of him I thought I'd be free from you for good, yet you're still here. Can't I be free of you?"

"Oh, you will be. In death", he says picking up a sword.

"Then, one last bit of advice, Rumple. Never make a cage you can't get out of". I rip off the bracelet from my own wrist, standing up, as Rumple looks shocked. "I made this cuff, you know. Doesn't work on me. But on you...". I use magic to put it on Rumple's wrist and magically fling him backwards into a shelf. "Let's see how you do without magic". Rumple crawls towards the fallen sword, but I kick him away from it.

"I've come too far for this. For them", Rumple says to me.

"For your son? No. It's too late. Soon, that fine green smoke will fill their lungs and fog their brains. Not like the rest of this town. I'm not just going to take their memories. No. Because of their special meaning to you, I'm going to take their lives. And you won't do a thing to stop me. Do you know why? Because without magic, you are right back to where you started. The village coward".

Morgan's POV

"Regina!", Emma yells.

"Emma", Regina say, standing up.

"What happened? You okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine".

"What is it? What happened when you touched it?", Snow White, or Mary Margaret, asks Regina.

"I saw what needed to be done", Regina responds.

"Mom, are you going to be okay?", Henry asks, and I mean actually Henry, not Pan feigning to be Henry.

"The important thing is you and Morgan will". I look at her confused, this whole magic thing is A LOT to take in after fifteen years of living where magic never existed.

"No they won't", Pan's voice says. We all turn around to face him, most everyone has a look of fear in their eyes, but not me. And to be quite honest, I don't even know how I feel about him, I mean I should hate him more than anything in the world, but I don't. I just look at him expressionless.

"He has the…", Hook starts to say, but Pan cuts him off when he freezes all of us in place so we are unable to move or speak. Great, Pan is now holding me back with no physical restraints; I better add that to the list of times that he's been able to capture me.

"Curse? That I do. Look at you all. A captive audience. I could play with you like a pack of dolls, couldn't I? I think I'll start with these two", Pan says to us. He then walks over to Belle and Neal. "Hmm. You both look so adorable. Hard to tell who to kill first". He shifts his gaze between both of them as if he was trying to make a decision. "No, it isn't. You. You first", he finishes, pointing at Neal.

"Stay away from them", Gold, or Rumplestiltskin says to Pan, appearing behind him.

"Well how about this? You're here to protect your wuved ones, aren't you laddie?", Pan asks Rumple in a mocking tone.

"I'm not gonna let you touch either one of them".

"Oh, I'd like to see that saying in all the years we've known each other, you've never even come close to besting me".

"Oh, you will. Because I have a job to finish, and I have to do whatever it takes. No loopholes. And what needs to be done has a price. A price I'm finally willing to pay. I used the curse to find you, Bae, to tell you I made a mistake. To make sure you had a chance at happiness. And that happiness is possible. Just not with me. I accept that".

"Pretty, pretty words".

"I love you, Bae. And I love you, Belle, you made me stronger", Rumplestiltskin says, looking at Neal and Belle during his little pitiful speech.

"Stronger, yes. But still no magic".

"Oh, but I don't need it. You see, you may have lost your shadow, but there's one thing you're forgetting".

"And what's that?"

"So have I. I sent it away with something to hide". Rumplestiltskin raises his hand into the air; summoning his shadow back with the dagger. As he takes hold of the dagger, the shadow goes into Pan and Rumplestiltskin and his shadow holding a struggling Pan there, Rumplestiltskin holding his dagger close to the back of Pan's neck.

"What are you doing?!", Pan demands, still struggling.

"You see, the only way for you to die, is if we both die. And now... now, I am ready", Rumplestiltskin replies. He then stabs Pan in the back with the blade, and for the first time ever, I hear Pan scream in pain. There is a pained, like extremely painful, look on Rumplestiltskin's face, but he remains silent.

"Rumple, please. You can stop this. Remove the dagger. We can start over. We can have a happy ending, just like you wanted all those years ago", Pan says painfully.

"Oh, but I'm a villain, and so are you. And villains don't get happy endings", Rumplestiltskin replies. He twists the dagger deeper into Pan's body as well as his own shadow that was in Pan. Pan gasps in agony and a golden light peeks out from the blade and begins to shine even brighter. Then, before I could try to make sense of what was exactly happening, Pan and Rumplestiltskin were gone, but not just gone, they were gone gone. The scroll drops to the floor while the freezing spell on the group wears off. All of us are visibly in shock over the unexpected turn of events. Belle collapses on the ground in a fit of grief.

I know that I should feel relieved and full of happiness that the boy who had tried to kill me was gone for good, but I couldn't. Something just didn't feel right. After all this time I thought I would've been overjoyed for this to happen, but I didn't, I felt no joy in this. But how is this even possible? I've enjoyed others misery and tragedies for so long, but now I couldn't feel the thrill.

"He's gone. For good", I state, holding back any emotion from surfacing.

"No... Rumple! He's-he's gone!", Belle sobs.

"Regina? Are you okay?", Mary Margaret asks Regina when she notices her picking up the scroll Pan had dropped when he perished.

"I'm fine", Regina responds.

"I'm so sorry", Emma says to Neal.

"My father did what he had to do. He saved us", Neal responds. He then turns to Regina. "Regina, don't let him die for nothing. Regina?",

"What?", Regina finally says.

"We've here for a reason, love. Pan", Hook states.

"Is dead".

"His curse remains. Can you stop it, or shall we all prepare our souls 'cause mine is gonna take some time".

Emma's POV

"It's here! The curse, it's here! It's coming from all sides! There's no escape", Leroy exclaims, running up to us in a hurry.

"It's not too late. We can still stop it, right? Regina?", David asks.

"Yes", Regina simply replies.

"W-what's the price? Gold said there is a price. What is our price?", I ask her.

"It's not our price. It's mine".

"What are you talking about?"

"It's what I felt when I... first held it. I have to say goodbye to the thing I love most".

"Henry?"

"I can never see him again. I have no choice. I have to undo what I started".

"The curse that brought us to Storybrooke?", Mary Margaret asks.

"It created Storybrooke. It doesn't belong here, and neither do any of us", Regina responds.

"Breaking the curse destroys the town", David says in realization.

"It will disappear from existence as though it were never here. And everyone will go back to where they are from. Prevented from ever returning".

"We'll go back to the Enchanted Forest?", I ask.

"All of us. Except Henry and Morgan. They will stay here because... they were born here".

"Alone?".

"No, you will take them. Because you're the savior. And you were created to break the curse. And once again, you can escape it".

"I-I don't want to. We'll go back with everyone".

"That's not an option. I can't be with him. If I don't pay the price, none of this will work".

"Emma, you have to go", Mary Margaret says.

"But I just found you".

"And now it's time for you to leave us again. For your best chance. For theirs".

"No. N-no. I'm-I'm not... done. I'm the savior, right? I'm supposed to bring back all the happy endings. That's what Henry always said".

"Happy endings aren't always what we think they will be. Look around you. You've touched the lives of everyone here".

"But we're a family".

"Yes, and we always will be. You gave us that".

"You and the twins can be a family. You can get your wish. You can be like everyone else. You can be happy".

"It's time to believe in yourself, Emma. There's time for you to find hope".

"I've known you for some time and all I wanted was for you to get the hell out of my life so I can be with my son. But really...what I want is for Henry to be happy. We have no choice. You have to go. Give them the life they deserve, where they can be happy and together", Regina says

"Okay", I respond reluctantly.

Henry's POV

"This isn't fair. It's all my fault", I tell my mom.

"What do you mean?", Regina asks.

"If I had never gone to get Emma, if I just lived under the curse with you, none of this would have ever happened. I thought I was alone. I-I thought you didn't love me. But I was wrong".

"Henry. I was wrong too. It wasn't your fault, it's mine. I cast a curse out of vengeance and I'm-I'm a villain. You heard Mr. Gold. Villains don't get happy endings. And if you never found Emma, you would've never found your sister".

"You're not a villain. You're just my mom", I respond before hugging her.

Emma's POV

"Neal. I'm sorry", I say.

"Don't be. You got two kids who you've got to keep alive here", Neal responds.

"And you have to go back there".

"Hey, this isn't over. I'll see both of you again".

"I'm counting on that". Then we hug for what could be the last time.

Morgan's POV

"Hey", I say to Henry.

"Hey yourself", Henry responds. We laugh at this as on Neverland it was always the other way around.

"I'm sorry that I kept who I was fro you for so long. I should've told you, but I didn't".

"It's not your fault; Pan didn't want you to tell me".

"But he wasn't the reason why I never said anything".

"Then what was?"

"I was afraid".

"Why?"

"Because I've really never had one and when I found out it scared me for I knew things would be different. I really didn't know what to expect and it was scary knowing that my life could've changed".

"It's okay".

"No, it's not. If I could've accepted this, I could've figured a way to get off Neverland and then Pan would've never switched bodies with you or cast this curse".

"Morgan, it's not your fault. My dad, I mean our dad, lived on Neverland much longer than we had been there and he was only barely able to escape. You can't think of what could've, you should only worry about now, where you can control what happens".

"Well except this curse thing". We laugh, knowing this could be the last time we speak of things like Peter Pan and Neverland.

Emma's POV

"That's quite a vessel you captain there, Swan. There's not a day that won't go by that I won't think of you", Hook says to me.

"Good", I reply. The two of us then smile at each other.

"Emma. There's something I haven't told you", Regina says, interrupting Hook and I.

"What now?", I ask.

"When the curse washes over us, it will send us all back. Nothing will be left behind. Including your memories. It's just what the curse does. Storybrooke will no longer exist. It won't ever have existed. So these last years will be gone from both your memories. Now we'll go back to being just stories again".

"What will happen to us?"

"I don't know".

"Doesn't sound like much of a happy ending".

"It's not. But I can give you one".

"You can preserve our memories?"

"No… I can do what I did to everyone else in this town. And give you new ones".

"You cursed them and they were miserable".

"They didn't have to be. (Grasps Emma's hands) My gift to you is good memories, good life for you and the twins. You'll have never given them up. You'll have always been together". And as if on cue, Morgan and Henry walk over at this moment.

"You would do that?", I ask.

"When I stop Pan's curse and you cross that town line, you will have the life you always wanted".

"But it won't be real".

"Well, your past won't. But your future will. Now go. There isn't much time left till the curse will be here any minute".

Third Person's POV

With the curse approaching rapidly, Henry, Morgan, and Emma get into Emma's yellow bug and drive off over the town line, going to start a new life with fake memories. Although it was true that any past memories wouldn't be real, they did have the power to make real memories themselves. Regina then tears the curse and uses her magic from coming into effect, but instead sending them back to the Enchanted Forest.

Emma's POV

I start making breakfast for me and the twins, and out of the corner of my eye I see the Henry running around with Morgan's cell phone.

"Give it back!", Morgan demands.

"Not just yet", Henry replies.

"Henry!"

"I give it back…just as I go through your texts".

"WHAT?! No! Henry I mean it, you better give me back my phone now".

"Let's see…", but Henry was never able to finish his sentence cause Morgan quickly grabbed the phone out of his hand.

"I'm so gonna get you for this", Morgan says to Henry.

"Breakfast", I call out once the eggs and bacon are done and the plates are on the table. The twins easily forget their bickering and race to the table.

"Mom, you forgot something", Henry says in indication to his hot cocoa.

"Right, cinnamon", I respond. I grab the sprinkler and give it Henry, who pours cinnamon on his hot chocolate, who then hands it to Morgan and she does the same. We clink our cups together before drinking. Suddenly, a knocking comes from outside the door.

"Someone coming over?", Henry asks.

"Did you invite Walsh over?", Morgan asks.

"No", I reply.

"Wait here", I tell the twin when the knocking resumes. When I open the door, I notice a man wearing all leather, almost pirate like.

"Swan. At last…", he says, trying to enter the apartment.

"Woah, do I know you?", I ask, blocking him from entry.

"Look, I need our help. Something's happened. Something terrible. Your family is in trouble".

"My family's right here. Who are you?"

"An old friend. Look, I know you can't remember me, but... I can make you". He then kisses me on the lips and I quickly knee him in the groin and shove him back.

"The hell are you doing?", I demand.

"A long-shot. I had to try. I was hoping you felt as I did", he replies.

"What you'll feel is the handcuffs when I call the cops".

"Look, I know this seems crazy, but you have to listen to me. You have to remem…". But instead of letting him finish, I shut the door in his face.

"Who was that?", Henry asks when I walk back over to the table.

"And more importantly, why are we even caring", Morgan says.

"No idea. Someone must have left the door open downstairs", I say in response to Henry's question. "Come on, let's eat".

for those angry that i killed pan, don't worry...pan is only once upon a time dead, which we are all well aware doesn't mean dead dead and is more of a "dead" (ie blue fairy, cora, archie, august)
