Chapter 39-New Beginnings
Emma's POV
"Okay, Morgan and Henry are asleep upstairs. If they wake up, you two are helping me with the case. So, what the hell happened here? I mean, besides the obvious", I ask David and Mary Margaret.
"We don't know. We watched you drive over the town line with Morgan and Henry. Regina started to cast her spell to take us all back to the Enchanted Forest and then...everything went black", Mary Margaret responds.
"And the next thing we remember is waking up in our beds like it was any other morning in Storybrooke", David adds.
"Except it clearly wasn't", Mary Margaret says, putting her hand over her pregnant belly.
"Almost harvest time and you can't remember the planting. It's bad luck, mate", Hook says in response.
"Clearly a year's past. I was in New York, I know I was", I say.
"And we don't know where the hell we were. We don't even know if we left Storybrooke", David adds.
"Aye, you did. I was with you", Hook tells them.
"In the Enchanted Forest?", Mary Margaret asks Hook.
"Regina's spell brought us back. We've spent a brief time with a prince and princess named Phillip and Aurora. But I wasn't feeling the community spirit, so I ventured of on my own. The last I saw of you lot, you were making your way to Regina's castle".
"And now you're cursed. Why doesn't that surprise me?", I say.
"Regina seems as clueless as the rest of us. I'm not quite sure she was involved in this", Mary Margaret responds.
"So she says".
"I don't understand: If you left the Enchanted Forest before the curse, how did you know to find Emma and come to Storybrooke?", David asks Hook.
"As I was sailing the realms a bird landed on my ship's wheel with a note instructing me to retrieve Emma and bring her back here. There was a small vial of memory potion tied to its leg", Hook replies.
"Who send it?", Mary Margaret asks.
"I assumed you did".
"A message via bird-that does sound like you", David says. Suddenly, there's a knock on the door; Leroy and Happy enter the room. "What is it?", David asks them.
"We lost another one. We're five now", Leroy informs us.
"Four, actually. Bashful's not answering", Happy corrects.
"Wait. What is going on?", I ask them confused.
"Thank God you're back, sister", Leroy says to me.
"It's not just our memories that are missing. Ever since we woke up, people have begun disappearing", Mary Margaret informs me.
"Whoever cursed us is picking us off, one by one".
"Who's exactly missing?", I ask.
"Aside from the dwarves, we're not sure. There's been a lot of confusion over the past few days. It's been hard to keep track of everyone", David replies.
"Wait. Neal. Is he here?", I ask. And as if on cue, Neal comes through the door.
"Emma. You're really back", Neal says.
"Neal. How did you know I was here?"
"I saw the bug. It's kind of hard to miss".
"Perfect timing as usual", Hook says.
"Any clue on who's responsible for making people disappear?"
"There's only one way we gonna figure all this out. We have to get your memories back", I respond.
"How are we going to do that?", Mary Margaret asks.
"By figuring out who took them in the first place".
Morgan's POV
"Here you go", a waitress says as she sets two cups of hot cocoa in front of me and Henry. I examine the cup and notice cinnamon sprinkled in it. That's unusual; most people don't make it this way.
"Hey, it's cinnamon. How did you know?", Henry asks her.
"A lucky guess. You've got a cinnamon kind of face", she responds before walking away. Mom then enters with a woman and a man, by the look of them they looked to be married, that and the woman was pregnant.
"Morgan, Henry, this is David and Mary Margaret", mom says, introducing us.
"Are you helping my mom with the case?", Henry asks them.
"Or are they the ones who jumped the jail?", I whisper to mom.
"No, they are- They are just old friends", mom says awkwardly.
"Friends? From where?", Henry asks. This made sense saying mom never talked about any friends.
"Phoenix", Mary Margaret says quickly, almost too quickly.
"Well, Phoenix and here", mom adds.
"But I thought you were only in Phoenix for being in... that place", Henry says.
"Right. We were cell mates", Mary Margaret replies.
"Really? What were you in for?", I ask.
"Banditry. People make mistakes. The important thing is to find a way to keep moving on".
"Did you know my dad?", Henry asks. And I have to admit I was quite curious as mom never talked about him and when she did, it was nothing good.
"Should we order? Let's order", David says, changing the subject. Suddenly, something is dropped and makes a loud shattering sound. I turn to the source of the sound, along with everyone else, and notice a dark haired woman staring at Henry, which is pretty creepy.
"Oh, uh, I'm- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you", she says.
"Oh, that's okay", Henry replies before taking another sip of cocoa.
Third Person's POV
"He looked right through me", Regina says once we're in the back room.
"Because he doesn't remember you", I reply.
"But you clearly do. Why are you here?"
"Storybrooke. A new curse. Missing year. What do you think?"
"What I mean is, how did you know to come back? I gave you, Morgan, and Henry a new life. New memories.
"Hook found me. He gave me a potion to make me remember. There wasn't enough for Henry or Morgan".
"How convenient. Look, I didn't cast that curse, if that's what you're thinking".
"The thought did cross my mind".
"Why would I do this? Why would I erase an entire year of my life?"
"Maybe it was a bad year for you. Maybe this curse was your way of getting me to bring Henry back here".
"With no memory of me? If I wanted my son back, do you think I'd put myself through this kind of torture? I cast curses to hurt other people. Not myself".
"Maybe so. But I need to start crossing people of the list".
"How? By walking around using your superpower on everyone?"
"You've got a better idea?"
Emma's POV
"This is where he was taken", Robin Hood says as we approach the town border.
"I wouldn't step over that line, if I were you", I warn him.
"You think Little John was carried away because he attempted to cross that line?"
"Makes sense. The dwarves were out checking the line to see if anyone was coming or going when they disappeared. What exactly took Little John?", David responds.
"We didn't get a good look. Some manner of a beast with wings".
"That sounds a lot like the monster who attacked me in New York".
"The monster you were gonna marry?", Hook asks me.
"You're gonna marry someone?", David asks me surprised.
"Did you just miss the part where I said "monster"?"
"It happens. I almost married a minion who worked for Peter Pan, who is the nastiest person I've ever met", Neal says to me.
"We need to find Little John", Robin Hood insists.
Morgan's POV
"My God. Did you know there's something like cradle cap? Babies get that on their heads. It's a crusty, yellow, greasy, scaly skin rash. Seriously, this book uses all of these words", Mary Margaret as I'm listening my survival playlist, which is really just heavy metal and rock songs, while Henry is playing a game on his Nintendo. I barely hear her, but why is she telling us this. We're sixteen; we don't really care about stuff like this.
"Gross. Yes, devastated him", Henry responds, too focused on his game to really pay attention.
"You know, there's a library down the street. We can pop in get you something, if you'd rather. I know how much you love reading".
"How do you know that?"
"Your mom told me".
"Cool. Let me go get my coat. I'll be right down".
"Race you", I challenge.
"Oh, it's on", Henry replies. The two us quickly get out of the booth and run upstairs to the hotel room to grab our coats. Henry gets the lead at first and just as I'm about to get ahead of him, I run into someone. Someone very cute.
"Hi", I say to the green eyed boy in front of me.
"You're a little clumsy, aren't you?", he asks me with a smirk.
"You really know how to charm a girl, don't you, uh…"
"Peter".
"Well, maybe I'll see you around, Peter", I say to him before I run up to the hotel room, not really caring if Henry beat me up there as I had a more important thing to attend to; this boy seemed familiar.
Peter Pan's POV
The evil queen just had to take her memories. I'm somehow alive again and the one person I care about doesn't remember, not to mention the relationship between the two of us. I had to make her remember, death was far less painful than being around the one you love when she has no memory of who I am. Meeting her again just wasn't the same; these new memories gave her a different life, a different personality. I looked at the book of Neverland adventures in my hand; I had to get this to this library before she got there. Maybe something in here will help her remember.
Morgan's POV
When Henry and I get back to the hotel room, I pull about the book that caught my attention at the library. Well it wasn't really a book; it was more of a storybook about Neverland. But what was strange about it is that the story was nothing like the one I heard when I was younger. I open the book to a random page and notice something immediately in the illustration; there is a girl in the picture who strangely resembles me, as well as the boy who overflows my sketch pads.
UNTIL NEXT TIME BANDIT OUT!
