Chapter 40-Reuniting
Emma's POV
"If you wanna waste your time playing Nancy Drew, be my guest, but we can't let Henry wander around alone with that witch and her flying monkeys out there", Regina says.
"I'm guessing you're volunteering?", I respond.
"If you find anything, call me".
"Just remember, he thinks we're here because I'm on a case".
"Well, look who's gotten good at lying".
"Just don't let anything slip up. As far as Henry knows, you're just Madame Mayor and that's it".
"I'm well aware of how Henry sees me". Regina storms off in a huff before I could even ask her if she would drag Morgan's ass out of Granny's as well.
"So are we going to save this town from this wicked witch or what?", Neal asks me. I smile at Neal, having a relieved feeling knowing that the guy who knows a thing or two about tracking and evading capture would be right by my side.
Morgan's POV
"Hey!", I shout at the mysterious boy, Peter. He casually walks toward me with a smirk plastered on his face as if he was expecting this encounter. Okay, is it me or is this town just getting stranger and stranger. What's next, magic?
"Yes? Have you been looking for me?", he asks. Seriously? He's the one who has been stalking me and he's the one asking this question. I notice him talking with his eyebrows. Yeah, like that's going to make his words have impact.
"Cut the act. I know you've been watching me".
"What makes you so sure?"
"This", I respond, throwing the book at his face. Unfortunately he caught it with one hand before impact. "Why did you sneak this into my backpack?"
"I needed you to remember".
"Remember what?" How am I supposed to remember a history with someone who I've never met before.
"Who you are".
Emma's POV
"I think I have a partial footprint. You guys see anything?", David says.
"Other than an austere sense of design? Nothing", Hook responds.
"Is that blood?", I ask, noticing a red-colored half a footprint.
"It's berry", David declares.
"Like a fruit?"
"No, like holly berry. They grow on bushes".
"Are you some sort of botanist in this life, mate?", Hook asks
"If thought you were a co-sheriff with Emma", Neal says.
"I've worked in an animal shelter. Saw dogs track them all the time. The bushes grow in the woods", David informs us".
"You know where?"
"Yeah, in the north-west corner, not far from the toll bridge".
Morgan's POV
"You're insane. This book is just a fairytale", I tell him.
"We both know if that was true you wouldn't be here", Peter responds.
"You're full of it".
"Don't pretend you don't believe me".
"Why shouldn't I?"
"Because deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down, you know that I'm right".
"How would you know ANYTHING about me?"
"We've met before, you just can't remember".
"And I can't remember this because…?"
"Long story short, Regina stole your memories".
"So how would this book help me regain theses supposed memories?"
"Look", he says opening the book. "Here is when you first arrived in Neverland and here is where we first met…".
"This proves nothing. You could've written this book yourself".
"I'm sorry it had to come to this".
Emma's POV
"So how have they been?", Neal asks me.
"Good. They were happy in New York", I respond.
"Why did you come back?"
"Hook found me, he helped me remember".
"How so?"
"He directed me to your old apartment and I saw Henry's camera there. And then when I confronted him about it, he gave me a memory potion to regain my memories".
"I'm surprised my stuff hasn't been cleared out of there yet".
"So how are they taking all of this?"
"They think it's part of a case. Though something feels off about Morgan".
"What do you mean?"
"Sometimes I feel like she's acting more like who she was before her memories were erased".
"Well with the Wicked Witch out there we're all paranoid. Besides, it's not like Peter Pan is alive and after our daughter".
"At least there's that. We've already been through that once. We don't need to go through that again, along with the Wicked Witch on her psychopathic plot".
"Emma".
"Yeah?"
"I just want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what. And I'm not going to make the same mistake again. I'm not going to give up on you".
"Neal, let's worry about our relationship when the town isn't being threatened".
"We both know that's never going to happen".
"Now's not the time".
"Then when? When are you going to stop running?!"
"I don't know! All I know is I need to save my family".
"Which one; your real one or just the twins?"
"It doesn't matter. Once this is all over, I'm going back to New York".
"Hey, look. The trail ends here".
"A farmhouse. You have to appreciate the irony", I respond as we approach a farmhouse. "There's definitely someone living here. Looks empty right now, though". We look around a little bit more just in case the Wicked Witch was lurking around somewhere. Luckily, she wasn't here and Neal and I were in an empty farmhouse. I was about to cut the losses, but Neal noticed something.
"Hey look, a storm cellar. But why would anyone have a storm cellar in Maine?"
"Let's find out".
"Emma! If there's anything I've learned from Neverland is that you never break in somewhere without knowing your way out".
"Okay, I'll call Regina. Have her drop Henry at Granny's. I'd like to see those flying monstrosities trying to get past her crossbow".
"What about Morgan?"
"She's already there. I think it's better. Things here are pretty crazy and the less she knows, the better".
Peter Pan's POV
"What are you doing!", Morgan demands.
"I'm not letting you go!", I respond.
"Quit acting like you know and care about me. You somehow know me, but I don't know you so back off before I hit you so hard that you cough up blood".
UNTIL NEXT TIME BANDIT OUT
