Chapter 46-Tall, Green, and Dead
Morgan's POV
"Morgan, I need to talk to you", Emma says. I may only be sixteen, but when an adult needs to talk to you, especially your birth mom, it usually means you're in trouble.
"Yeah, sure", I reply. Though I'd rather not. But whatever was on her mind was pretty damn important for she pulled me aside for some privacy or whatever and she just had to talk to me while Mary Margaret was in serious labor. "So…what's up?", I ask her once we are alone".
"You've been lying to me, haven't you?", Emma asks me, but given her tone it seemed like more of a statement than a question.
"I have no idea where you'd get that from".
"Don't play dumb with me. I may have missed your little act before, but I know now that you actually remembered but refused to let anyone know the truth".
"Are you sure you're not thinking of yourself? How long did it take for you to finally tell us about Neal?"
"I was—this is not about me! This about you".
"Of course it is. You always act like you're stronger than you are and always end up getting hurt one way or another because of that".
"So you DO know what I'm talking about".
"Oh…I guess I do".
"But why lie? Why lie about something as simple as your memories?"
"Cause".
"Because why?"
"Cause I didn't want everyone in this long, complicated family breathing down my neck".
"And you thought lying would help?"
"Well I went awhile without getting caught, so yeah".
"What about sneaking out? What was that all about?"
"Nothing".
"It didn't seem like nothing".
"Sorry to disappoint, but nothing was going on".
"You're lying. I know you were sneaking out late at night and nobody does that without reason. And in your case I'm assuming it's a boy, probably the one who showed up at the boat house. Who was he anyway?"
Emma's POV
I watched Morgan run off, but I didn't attempt to stop her. She just needed to blow off some steam, I get that. But she couldn't have picked a worse time to do it. I guess I might have picked a bad time to push her for answers; I forgot how stubborn she is and I kinda get it. It wasn't that long ago when I acted pretty similar to Morgan; so I just watched her leave the safety of the hospital.
Morgan's POV
I know running away wasn't my best idea, but I just had to get away; there was no way I'd admit what was really going on during the time when everyone except Pan and I thought I didn't remember who I really am. Things are complicated between Pan and I and I don't wanna make them even more complicated by letting the people who tried to kill him a year ago figure out that he's alive.
Emma's POV
"You really think this protection spell will be enough to hold her off?", I ask Regina.
"It depends, if your brand of magic is stronger than hers. If it is, no one wielding dark magic will be able to get in here", Regina replies.
"That doesn't sound like a vote of confidence".
"It isn't, but we're out of options". Regina exits and Hook approaches me.
"Swan? I heard the little royal was on his way", Hook says.
"I don't think it's a good idea for you to be here right now", I respond.
"I wanna help".
"If you really wanted to help, you would have told me when Zelena cursed your lips. Or when you figured out what Morgan had been hiding
"I had no choice. She threatened you and your family. I was trying to help. And I hadn't known what the lass had been hiding until just recently".
"Telling me what was going on would have been help".
"And the death sentence for your boy".
"Henry's safety is my concern, not yours, which is why I'm taking this fight to Zelena. This ends today".
"Emma, wait. You don't have to do this alone", David says before I can leave.
"Yeah, I do. You need to stay with Mary Margaret".
"Yeah, I know, but you need help. Take Hook".
"Are you insane? If I have to bring someone, I'll take Neal".
"He's currently unavailable".
"What do you mean?"
"He went to look for Morgan after she ran off".
"Just great".
"He's going with you", David says.
"Mm, I thought you didn't trust me, mate", Hook responds.
"Zelena backed you into a corner. You did the best you could".
"See? Even you're father gets it", Hook says to me.
"Yeah, because he knows about keeping secrets from loved ones. I'm sorry. I'm doing this alone", I respond.
"No, you're not. This isn't about you. It's about all of us", David tells me.
"What is he gonna do? I have magic. He's got one hand".
"You know, I'm good in a fight", Hook insists.
"At the very least, he can draw fire", David says.
"What, now I'm cannon fodder?"
"Fine. He can come", I respond.
"Fair enough. Shall we?"
Morgan's POV
"Going somewhere?", a voice asks me. A turn around, unsurprised to come face to face with Pan.
"What are you doing here? Well besides the obvious", I reply.
"You need to know something".
"Know what?"
"You're the only one who can defeat Zelena".
"Come again?"
"Remember when we kissed?"
"Yeah. What does that have to do with anything?"
"When you broke the curse, you showed that you have magic. Magic powerful enough to defeat Zelena. And you can, you can defeat that wicked witch with your magic".
"I can't defeat her. I know nothing about how to use magic; she's had years to practice and I haven't. It wasn't that long ago when I was introduced to the world of magic. I'm just not ready".
"Yes you are. You're as ready as you are stubborn. You can defeat her, I know you can".
"But how? How am I supposed to defeat her when I know absolutely nothing on how to use magic?"
"Believe. Not in magic, but yourself. I believe in you, but the real question is if you believe in yourself".
"Alright, I'll do it. But if this doesn't work, you are so dead".
Emma's POV
"What happened? Did you find Zelena?", David asks me
"I did but I couldn't stop her", I reply.
"She took your brother".
"Because I failed?"
"We're all still here so, you haven't failed just yet", Hook responds.
"Hook's right. Come on", David says.
"No, wait. Zelena took my magic", I inform them.
"How the hell did that happen?", Regina demands.
"Doesn't matter how, it just happened. So we need to find another way to stop her".
"There is no other way".
"That's not true. You can do it", Henry says.
"Sweetheart, I don't think I can survive Round Three with my sister".
"Glinda was pretty specific: Only the purveyor of the strongest light magic can defeat her", David tells them.
"Zelena only beat you because you were using dark magic against her", Henry says.
"But, it's all I have", Regina responds.
"No, it's not. When you kissed Henry; that was true love's kiss. That's light magic", I reply.
"See, you can do it", Henry says.
"Henry, I don't even have my heart right now", Regina responds.
"That doesn't matter. You broke the curse without it. And I know you still love me. I know there's good in you. Once upon a time you were a villain, mom. But you've changed. You're a hero now. And defeating bad guys is what heroes do. I believe in you. Now, you need to believe, too".
"Don't you see; I didn't break that curse".
"Then who did?", Emma asks.
"If I knew we would've been hunting them down by now".
"Well, you're all we got".
Third Person's POV
"There's nothing more innocent than a newborn babe. And you, my sweet, are the most innocent of all. The product of the truest love", Zelena says. She places him in a bowl opposite to Charming's sword hilt. The newborn baby points west. "See, once I changed the past, you and I shall meet under different circumstances. And, Rumple, you will choose me. And I will be enough".
"No, you won't. And no matter, where you go in time, I will find a way to kill you", Gold responds.
Chuckling Zelena enacts the time travelling spell. Firstly, the infant boy gleams bluish. Secondly, brain and sword hilt both light up golden. Lastly, the enchanted heart flares up ruddily. Pouring into the empty slots all four viscous colors confluent in the middle of the structure. Slowly, a portal opens.
"Don't worry, dearie. Once all this is over, you won't remember a thing".
"It isn't over, yet", David says, entering the farmhouse along with Emma, Regina, Hook, Neal, Robin, and what's left of his Merry Men.
"And who's gonna stop me? Certainly not the savior", Zelena asks.
"Go, get him. We got your back", Emma says to David.
"And I've got your heart", Robin tells Regina.
"Zelena, stop now. We're not gonna let you succeed", Regina says to Zelena.
"Rid me of those pests", Zelena commands Gold. Using magic Gold pushes David and Robin Hood away from the portal. He then turns to face Hook, Emma, and Neal.
"Please no more water", Hook begs.
"Get the dagger and the Dark One will be on your side", Gold tells them. Waving his hand Gold flings Emma's pistol aside.
"This is easier said than done", Emma says.
"Do as I say or I will destroy you all. I'm sorry Bae, but I have no choice". Using magic again, he pushes Emma, Hook, and Neal back.
"Come for another beating, sis?", Zelena asks Regina.
"No. I came for some jewelry", Regina replies. Regina reaches out for Zelena's pendant. Quickly, Zelena magically pushes her sister away from herself.
"Remember, these creatures are our friends", Robin says as he takes aim with a crossbow.
"Don't worry; I'll use a gentle touch", David responds.
"Unfortunately, that's not an option for me", Gold informs them. Using magic Gold forcefully pushes both of them back once again. Once more Zelena applies her attention to Regina. Lifting her up Zelena strangles her sister.
"Only light magic can harm me. And you're as dark as they come. It was your destiny to be this way. And it'll also be your undoing", Zelena says to Regina.
Morgan's POV
"Hey tall, green, and ugly!", I call out, diverting Zelena's attention from Regina to me.
"You must be joking. A weak, untalented, naïve sixteen year old girl?"
"At least I haven't spent my whole life being a bitter witch who hasn't had a date since ever. Oh and don't underestimate me; I may be sixteen, but you are wrong about everything else".
Before I knew it, I was hoisted up into the air thanks to Zelena's magic. I remembered what Pan said to me not that long ago and focused on the magic that ran through my veins. The next thing I knew, there was a bright, white light emerging from my hands. I then take this power to knock Zelena down; weakening her.
Third Person's POV
Regina takes Zelena's pendant thus removing her magic. Then Regina turns to the portal. The pendant absorbs the portal's energy. David is about to look after his son, as the flying monkey shrieks behind him. Ready to fight the creature David nearly beheads the monkey. Zelena's spell dissolving the flying monkey regains his human form and is revealed to be Little John.
"Little John, you're back!", Robin Hood says excitedly.
"David, the baby. Is he okay?", Emma asks.
"Yeah, he can handle anything. Just like his big sister", Charming replies.
Emma's POV
"Never thought, I'd see one of those", Hook says as we look into the room in which Mary Margaret, David, and the baby are in.
"It's called a baby", I reply.
"No, Swan. A smile".
"We won".
"In all the chaos I never got a chance to say thank you".
"You really think, I'd let you drown?"
"Given our history can you blame me for being uncertain? Has your power returned, now that Zelena has been defeated?"
"No".
"I'm sorry, love".
"It's okay. I won't need it in New York". Then, Neal walks up to me and Hook gets the signal to leave.
"Hey", Neal says. "So are really thinking of taking them back?"
"Why wouldn't I? We were happy there".
"But it wasn't real. They both know that and so do you".
"Why does that matter?"
"They're sixteen. They want to be able to make their own decision and forcing them to go back to New York won't do them any favors, especially Morgan. She defeated Zelena, she broke the curse. Both she and Henry are happy here.
Third Person's POV
"Regina? I didn't expect you back so soon", Zelena says.
"I don't imagine, you expected me at all, dearie", Gold says in response. Upon hearing his voice Zelena turns around to face him.
"What are you doing here?"
"What do you think?"
"You can't kill me, Rumple. I saw Regina take your dagger".
"She gave it to Belle".
"And she wants me dead?"
"No, of course not".
"Well, then you'll have to do what she wishes. If she has the dagger, you have no choice".
"Yes, if she has the dagger, but she doesn't". Gold produces the Dark One's Dagger, which was hidden behind his back. Quickly, Zelena gets up, leaning against the cell's wall. "She only thinks she does. You see, my former friend taught me something. The only useful thing he passed on. A bit sleight of hand called "Follow the lady". Belle has a fake. This, however, is quite real". Using magic Gold teleports himself inside the cell. Zelena backs away from Gold.
"Wait. Wait. I'm powerless now. Regina has got my pendant. My magic is gone. I can't hurt anyone. I can't". Unimpressed, Gold steps closer. "Why?"
"Because no one controls me and gets away with it dearie". Gold stabs Zelena, instantaneously using magic, thus transforming her into a porcelain doll. When he removes the dagger, the porcelain doll shatters. Then Gold leaves the cell. After a moment the doll's broken fragments crumble to green dust. Then the green dust itself melts into thin air.
Morgan's POV
I was sitting outside Granny's while everyone was celebrating the defeat of Zelena when someone walked up. I didn't even bother to look who it was, though I expected it was Henry.
"Go away, Henry", I say still not looking up.
"Well it's a good thing I'm not Henry. At least not today", I hear Pan's voice respond.
"What are you doing here", I ask meeting his greyish-green eyes.
"I could ask you the same".
"I asked you first".
"You went through a lot today. I just want to make sure you're okay".
"I've been through worse".
"You can tell me anything".
"I'm fine. Zelena's been defeated and my family still is unsure on whether or not you're alive".
"Morgan…"
"Look, I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow?".
