Chapter 51-Flames

Morgan's POV

"How did you find me?" I demand, still surprised on seeing him.

"Your powers have only recently surfaced." Mr. Gold replies. "I knew you couldn't have transported very far". Right. Sometimes I forget just how much of experience some people, mostly some sort of relative of mine, have with magic.

"What do you want?" He couldn't be trusted. There had to be some reason he was here. I'm no idiot like the rest of this town, I know all about self-benefit. I'm pretty sure he invented that word, he's probably old enough to.

"Ah, but on the contrary, I want to help you". Why on Earth would he want to help me? He is one of the most self-motivated people in this town and is known to manipulate others for his own personal gain. What he was saying was pretty sketchy, but he knows magic very well, he could help me.

"Help me? Why would you help me? You don't exactly have the best reputation around here."

"You're my son's daughter. I'm not just going to stand by and let you hopelessly try to figure out your newfound powers."

"I'm fine on my own." I sneeze fire. Great. Not only am I being confronted about how I can't handle my own magic, I'm unwillingly proving it.

"Really? Dearie, if you keep this up you'll burn the entire town by nightfall." I sigh. This was something I couldn't handle all by myself, this was magic. I don't have the slightest idea on how to control it, but he does.

"Fine. But if this is a trick, you'll be sorry."

"Wouldn't dream of it."

Mr. Gold's POV

It is quite hard to pass up an opportunity like this, she really is just a younger version of her mother. However, as much as I would love to manipulate her into doing some dirty work for me, she is Neal, my beloved son's daughter and he would never forgive me if I turned her farther into the dark side for my personal benefit. I will help the girl, I can't just ignore my own blood after what I did to Bae. And even if I did, sooner or later Miss Swan would be negotiating with me to fix her, this just saves me a whole lot of my time. Besides, even though Belle lives with me, my home can seem a little dull and boring. I know the Charming household must be pretty cramped, so in addition to Morgan learning how to control her powers she also gets her own room. And what do I get? Just a taste of the life I could've had with Bae, oh and I also can limit the time my once dear friend can spend with Morgan. This is a win for everyone that really matters, and that's all that I care about.

The real question though is if I can handle a high-strung teenage girl with a likings for villainous, green eyed boys. I never exactly handled Bae's first crush when he was a boy, and now the only thing I can do to make up for that is to spend time with Henry and Morgan. Henry though is more on the heroic side while Morgan is more on the dark side. It would be much harder to make a real relationship with Henry, so I will use my efforts into bringing Morgan into my life, as well as getting her to genuinely like me.

If only we found her the same time Emma broke the curse, it sure would make this a whole lot easier. All Morgan appears to enjoy is sneaking out late at night and wasting the day on her cell phone. But this is not to say that task is impossible, for I will succeed and I will teach her to contain her magical abilities. But how?

I guess I will figure this all out, but the important thing is I get a second chance. I gave up Baelfire for magic when he was only a couple of years younger than Morgan, but now I get a glimpse at what it would've been like to raise a teenager. I realize she is very different from Bae, but she's his daughter, and it's the closest I can be to raising Bae again.

Morgan's POV

"You want me to move in with you?! Why would I do that?", I ask Mr. Gold.

"Because you want to learn how to control your magic, don't you?"

"I don't get how moving in with you relates to controlling my powers".

"Wouldn't you like to have your own room? All I'm offering you is a spacious place to stay. That, and I know you can't stand living with the rest of your family. Don't deny it, I know it's driving you mad being around so much good in such a little place".

"So what do you get by doing this for me? Surely you have something to gain…"

"I'm just thinking of your interests".

"My interests?"

"I know you're not a hero, you know I speak the truth. I know being around that much good is eating you up inside. I'm just offering you a place where you can feel free to be yourself".

"You mean be like you?"

"Don't say that with so much negativity".

"I'm not you, I'm not anyone but me".

"I wasn't asking you to, all I want is to keep you safe."

"No strings attached?"

"All I ask is that you help out in my shop".

"I can live with that". Morgan sighs.

Emma's POV

I pace around frantically trying to picture what Morgan is doing and how much trouble she is causing for Storybrooke. I mean, she was sneezing fire, and that wasn't even on purpose. I can't even imagine what would happen is she tried to use her powers given the state she is in now.

"Emma, calm down", Neal says.

"Calm down?! How the hell am I supposed to calm down?! Our daughter has uncontrollable powers and the most untrustworthy man just vanished to meet up with her! No offense Neal but I have no trust in your father."

"I know. But you're gonna have to, he has the most experience with magic than any of us, if anyone can help her it's him."

"I don't feel good about this. What if he has some twisted ulterior motive that he needs Morgan for? She's vulnerable right now, he could be using her for some evil plot."

"I know it's hard, but we can trust him. He's spent so much time trying to make things right with me, I have no doubt that he won't hurt her or use her for his own benefit. If he did, he would lose everything he's worked so hard for, there's no way he'd ever make that mistake."

"Neal, I know you want to trust him, but what if you're wrong? Morgan has already been through so much in the past sixteen years, I just don't want things to get worse."

"She was sneezing fire! If we don't let my father help her she could die! I know you're learning about magic and all, but he's the only one we know for sure can help her. And whether or not you like him, he is her grandfather and if he thinks he can help, we should trust him without thinking the worse possibility of why he's doing this. You're giving me a second chance, not to mention Regina, so why not him?"

"It's different."

"Is it? I think you still have trust issues and keep comparing Morgan to yourself."

"That's ridiculous." Morgan might have grown up similarly to how I grew up, but she's very different in personality. Not to mention the fact that she's completely infatuated will Peter Pan, and despite everything he's done to protect her, I still think he's been doing good things for himself, not my daughter.

"No it's not. I know deep down you wish you had just stayed in New York, then you wouldn't have to deal with any of this."

"So what if I am?! They were both safe and happy."

"It was fake."

"But I didn't have to worry about saving anyone, Morgan wasn't sneezing fire, and there were no villainous relatives or boyfriends."

"The Emma I knew wasn't afraid of anything."

"I'm not."

"Then why do you keep running from things? Not to mention dragging Morgan and Henry into it. This is where they belong, their family is here. This is bigger than yourself so stop trying to make reasons of why you shouldn't trust anyone."

"Morgan has been surrounded by darkness since I met her on Neverland, I'm just trying to make her see the light."

"That's not your decision to make! She's sixteen! You can't control her life!"

"So you want her to be with Pan?! You said yourself that he's the nastiest person you ever met!"

"People can change, and he has. I said that when I met him long ago when I was a lost boy, but that was a long time ago. He cares about our daughter, that's what's important. It's time you stop judging people on past mistakes."

"He cast the dark curse, Neal! He can't be trusted!"

"So he could rule over Storybrooke with Morgan by his side! While his methods might not be the best, he does truly care about her. And you can't ignore the part when he saved her from the Wicked Witch. No matter what you think, Morgan means much more than a prize to him." I don't believe that for a second, Pan is up to something and he's tricking everyone to not take notice in him because he's acting like he cares for Morgan, who is obviously under love spell. I'm no fool, that relationship is a fake and I will find a way to end it before it's too late. Pan is still that evil little scumbag I met on Neverland, just looking out for himself and willing to sacrifice others for his own benefit. Just wait, I'm gonna make him pay if it is the last thing I do, and this time his suffering will have no end, no escape.

Peter Pan's POV

Unknown to Neal and Emma, I had been listening to their lovers quarrel. But who can blame me? Neal was right, I do care about his daughter, a lot. She's the most amazing, beautiful girl I had ever met, and I've met many girls throughout the centuries I have been alive. I get they might not trust me after trying to kill Morgan and Henry to become immortal and attempting to curse this land with Morgan as my queen, but I care about her more than anything.

True I was the most feared villain in all the lands, but at some point she became more important than power. I know, weird. I guess love really is as powerful as people say it is, having someone to care about is a magical thing.

But Morgan was a special girl, more than any of them realize. Sure, she had one half of the Heart of the Truest Believer, but there was something else that made her even more special than Henry. While Henry had light magic that had yet to surface, Morgan had powerful dark magic. I knew shortly after seeing her heart that she had great power, but I still don't know exactly how powerful or what unique powers she possesses.

They're all fools thinking Rumplestiltskin can help her, she is extraordinary and possesses powers way beyond their comprehension. I doubt one of them knows that certain sorcerers can possess unique abilities that many cannot do without great difficulty or some sort of magic. Take me for example, I can fly without pixie dust, I don't know one other person who can do that. Morgan has her own unique ability that will separate her from everyone else, finding it is the real challenge. I have no idea what it is and the list of special abilities is quite lengthy, I can't just get her to try every single known ability, she'll just get pissed and think I'm making this up.

Morgan's POV

"Well since I've seen your ability to create fire by sneezing, we're going to start by conjuring up a flame that doesn't involve your mouth or nose." Gold tells me. I had to admit a was a little nervous, not because of learning to use magic, I was really excited about it, but more nervous about finding just how powerful I am. I mean I don't want to do all this training and find out my only power is launching fiery snot rockets, though that's kinda awesome. I guess I'm just worried that my powers won't be all that I want them too. I know most people would be amazed that they could sneeze fire, but I'm not most people, I come from a magical family tree and I want to have power people envy, especially Pan. He's always been doing all these cool magical things and I want to be more powerful so I can shove it in his face. Maybe a bit childish, but he is Peter Pan, so who is he to judge?

Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold's POV

As I am trying to teach the girl how to properly conjure up a fire ball, I notice the wandering look in Morgan's eyes. She may be Neal's daughter and my granddaughter, but that didn't mean I was going to let her off easy. I conjure up a small fire ball and release it at her feet. Morgan jumps back and aims the flame away from her with the swift movement of her arm. Just like Emma, so much potential, and unlike Emma, I will be able to use her power for my own benefit.

"What the hell!" Morgan yells at me.

"You need to focus, dearie. You need to keep your mind clear." I reply.

"So shooting fire was your solution?!"

"It got you to pay attention so it would appear to have worked. Besides, you showed me that you could react with your magic in only a moment's notice. Now, are you ready to take this seriously and pay attention when I am trying to help you gain control?"

"I guess. Sneezing fire kinda really sucks."

Neal's POV

I look at my phone one last time, hoping Emma had changed her mind about the whole "find out what your father's up to or I will" thing, but I had no such luck. I wasn't afraid of my father, in fact, sometimes it seemed the other way around, but I didn't want to storm into his shop and question his motives for taking Morgan. I could see where Emma was coming from, but he was trying to change, and if no one trusts him, how is he supposed to become the man I want him to be? The man he wants to become? I sighed before entering his shop. The bell jingles above the door the moment I open the door and I immediately spot my father behind the counter, but Morgan is nowhere to be seen.

"Where is Morgan?" I ask him.

"She's in the back." He responds. "What are you doing here?"

"I just want to make sure she's okay."

"She's fine. She stopped sneezing fire, so it would appear she's making progress."

"You're teaching her magic?"

"How else would I be able to help her? Don't worry, Bae. She's in good hands."
