Chapter 53-Adapting
Morgan's POV
It quickly dawned on me as Pan was threatening the life of the jerk who crashed into me in Pan that if this person was this careless, he was probably running from someone, and I know a thief when I see one, so he was probably running from the law, AKA Emma and David. I wasted no time and immediately teleported myself back to my room in Rumplestiltskin's house, well, mansion. A small smile appears on my face when I notice that I had been able to do this successfully given how new magic, well using magic, was to me. Suddenly, I hear footsteps heading in the direction of my room. Panicking, I grab a spell book Rumplestiltskin gave me and sprawl out on my bed, pretending to actually be reading it. Fortunately, it was Belle who had walked in.
"You know, you're holding the book upside-down." Belle says.
"So that's why it made no sense." I reply. Belle walks over to me and sits on the corner of my bed. Uh…what is she doing?! I put the book down and sit up to face her.
"I know you're only living here to learn how to control your magic, which is something that I could never relate to. But, I do know something about being in love with someone that can be viewed as a monster in the eyes of many."
"Um, why are you telling me this?"
"Did you really think I didn't notice you sneaking out to meet with Pan?"
"How did you—?"
"The dirt on your jeans suggest you were anywhere but here. Look, Morgan, I understand how hard it is having feelings for someone everyone else fears. Right now I know that it's hard, but I know soon enough you won't have to sneak out to see him."
"I thought it would be easier when he finally came out of hiding, but it's not. How can you be so sure?"
"Rumple and Pan just have a bad history together. It's just going to take some time for him to get used to the idea of seeing Pan in a different light than he used to."
"Great. Just perfect."
"But in the meantime, maybe this will help." Belle hands me my cell phone. "Rumple gave me this to hold on to, but I think there will be less chances of you sneaking out if you have a way to contact Pan."
"Thanks. You know, you're not so bad."
Peter Pan's POV
I teleported myself deep into the forest where I could be free of the dirty thief who ruined my fun and Emma who still couldn't accept that Morgan's feelings for me were in fact her own, and not at all influenced by magic. I try to cast a curse that would turn everyone in this little town into my servants ONE TIME and she just can't let it go. But, my thoughts are put aside when I feel her presence.
"You can come out, Ingrid. I know you're here." I say.
"Why so glum?" Ingrid asks, coming out of the foliage. "Upset about your lovely afternoon date getting ruined. She really is quite pretty, such a shame you can never get enough alone time with her to show her what kind of teenager you really are."
"Stay out of my love life."
"I'm still quite surprised that you even have a love life."
"That just hurts."
"Well last time we saw each other you vowed you would never fall for a girl, again."
"What do you want, Ingrid? I know you're not dumb enough to piss me off, or at least I would think so. But with you, I can never be too sure. And I've told you to never bring her up again."
"Can't I just catch up with an old friend? Where are your manners?"
"They are reserved for people I actually want to be with, and quite frankly you do not make that elite list."
"I'd imagine that list is quite short, probably only reserved for a certain girlfriend, and even then you still show what you are."
"Enough of this. You are going to tell me what you want or I will choke the life out of you so slowly and painfully, you'll be begging for death."
"There's really no need for that. I just want to help you achieve your happiness."
"I don't trust you. You're almost as manipulative as I am, and I don't need your help. I already have my happy ending, and I don't need you interfering with the one thing I actually care about."
"Yes, because going on secret dates in the woods with Morgan is just so romantic. I'm sure girls in every realm are just so jealous of what you two have."
"At least I'm not alone. I have a girl who is willing to risk the wrath of her family to be with me, and you have no one. Everyone sees you as a monster who will never be loved."
"I will have my happy ending! Do not underestimate me!"
"And you will, as long as you stay away from Morgan. Go anywhere near her, and I will singlehandedly make sure you fail."
Neal's POV
I muster all of my courage to walk into Granny's where I know Emma will be for another eight and a half minutes, not that I'm keeping track of her schedule or anything. Inhaling deeply, I finally manage to open the door and walk inside. As I step through the door and take in Granny's, I immediately spot two things. One, Emma sitting at her usual table, sipping a cup of coffee slowly, and two, Hook making eyes at Emma. I knew that if I didn't do this soon, I'd lose her to Hook, so I took in a deep breath and sat in the booth opposite of Emma.
"Oh, Neal." Emma says, shocked. "So, how's Morgan?"
"Good. I talked to Belle about ten minutes ago. She's in her room, probably texting Pan, but that's to be expected by now." I respond.
"I guess."
"So, any luck on finding the Snow Queen?"
"There's no sign of her, yet."
"Don't worry, you'll find her. I know you will. It's kind of what your family does."
"I wish we could stop tracking people for a while and just live normal lives."
"In Storybrooke, Maine? Doubtful that's gonna happen."
"Yeah, I know. Hey, Neal. There's, uh, something I've been meaning to ask you."
"What?"
"I wanna ask you on a date."
"What? Really?"
"Don't be too upset."
"it's not that, I, uh, was just about to ask you out, but I guess you beat me too it. But since you did the asking, I get to plan the date."
"I know how to plan a date."
"You know how to chase down villains. Planning dates is something I'm good at."
"Says the guy who dated Tamara."
"And you, so I guess I did something right."
"Fine, but you're paying."
"Like I'd let you."
Henry's POV
I was thinking about how to get Regina her happy ending, which was probably with Robin Hood, and one thing kept popping into my head. Pan and Rumplestiltskin are two powerful villains that everybody feared, and still are, yet they both managed to get happy endings. Maybe one of them know the mysterious author. But neither would be very willing to help. However, I know a certain twin sister who might know something about the author considering that she is dating Pan and currently living with Rumplestiltskin.
Without giving it any more thought, I pulled out my cell and began texting Morgan, choosing my words carefully to ensure that she would actually come. Unsurprisingly, Morgan texted back within seconds of my message.
Me: Meet me at Granny's. Got something urgent to tell you.
Morgan: Can't u just txt it?
Me: Believe me. You're gonna want to hear it.
Morgan: Fine. Whatever. Meet you in 5?
Me: Sounds good. See you soon!
Seven and a half minutes later I was walking through Granny's, looking to see if my sister was already there. Just as I'm about to find an open table for the both of us, I see her in the way back, eating a plate of cheese fries. I sit in the booth across from her, and she immediately looks up.
"So what's this important news you just had to tell me in person?" Morgan asks.
"Oh, um, about that.." I stutter.
"So, in translation, you lied just to get me here. I'm impressed. Now, out with it, what do you want?"
"What makes you think I want something?"
"You're the complete opposite of me. I lie, you rarely do. So if you lied to get me here, you must want something pretty big."
"Okay, so I've been working with Regina to find the Author of whoever wrote that book of stories. But the problem is we can't find anything. So, I was hoping you would have a clue about his whereabouts."
"Why would I know?"
"Peter Pan and Rumplestiltskin are two of the biggest villains out there, yet they both got happy endings, and you are pretty close to both of them."
"I've been living with Rumplestiltskin for about a day."
"What about Pan? Surely he must know the Author to be able to have a happy ending with you."
"I don't know. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But I think I know a way to find out."
"How?"
"You ask him, you dope. Find the guts and do it yourself."
"Why can't you? You are his girlfriend."
"Cause this is something you want, so if you want to find out if Pan knows anything you're gonna have to suck it up and ask him yourself."
"I take it you're not gonna come with, are you?"
"Hell no. You haven't spoken to him since we regained our memories, well since you regained your memories, and I'm not gonna be around for that disastrous conversion. Do you know how many layers of awkward that conversation will be? There's no freakin way I would put myself in the middle of all that fun. That's all on you, dude."
"I guess I should've expected that. But how am I gonna get him to meet up with me? He's not exactly gonna jump at the opportunity to meet up with me."
"Maybe not you, but he will go if he thinks he's meeting up with me."
"I don't think I like this plan. He'll probably try to kill me, again, and I don't feel like taking another brief vacation to the Underworld."
"It's the only way. Take it or leave it. And the Underworld wasn't that bad, you never even got the chance to meet your worst nightmares."
"I guess that conversation just got a lot more awkward."
"Good luck with that." We stare at each other for a moment. "Hey, Henry. Can I ask you something?"
"I think you just did."
"I mean it. This is serious. Do you think Neal and Emma are gonna get back together?"
"I dunno. I hope so. I mean it would be strange seeing our parents in love with other people. Why do you ask?"
"While I was waiting for you I heard rumors that they're going on a date tonight."
"Then we have to make sure it goes well!"
"I'm not so sure about that. I'm no love expert."
"Says the girl who had a secret boyfriend."
"Ignoring that. What do you suggest we do? Tag along?" Henry's silence is all I need to answer my question. "You have got to be kidding me. You're not exactly well-coordinated or good at keeping your voice down."
"It's not like you're some sort of expert in keeping things from people. It didn't take long for me to discover your relationship with Pan."
"That's because we were sharing a room. Not exactly an easy thing to do when you're so nosy in other people's business."
"Like you're not?"
"I prefer the term 'gathering intel'." She smirks at me, and I couldn't help but smile back. If I had to say one think about her that really differs from me is that she can really manipulate the situation to her liking, at least most times.
"So…I'll text you later about where to meet up?"
"Sounds like a plan." She looks down at her watch. "Oh, shit. I gotta go. I'm gonna be late! And if I'm late then he'll be mad, and then I'll get mad, and then it's all kinds of disasters."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. Late for what?"
"Magic lessons."
"Wait. I have something important to ask you."
"What?"
"Since you have magic, do you think that will mean I will too?"
"Sorry. Genetics isn't exactly my expertise. I got a C minus when I took that class. You'd be better off asking someone who would actually know something."
"I know that look, Morgan. You know something. Now stop selling yourself short and tell me what you know."
"I'm gonna be so late."
"I have a feeling you can live with that." Morgan smirks in response. "So what do you know?"
"I know that us being twins and all, it's highly likely you will discover your magical abilities that will equally match mine."
"Why didn't I get mine when you got yours?"
"Mine came when I needed them most. Considering how much Storybrooke is attacked by some villain, I would guess it shouldn't take yours to surface."
"How do you know this?"
"Oh, I have my ways."
Peter Pan's POV
I found myself keep looking at the digital clock, from Morgan's bed, as I wait for Morgan to return from her magic lesson with Rumple. I still cannot believe that the "all-powerful" Savior actually trusts him more than me. Sure, I'm not the role model for goodness, but he's proven his disloyalty on many occasions. When I did what I did I had no friendly ties to any of them, so I never broke their trust. When you think about it, I'm more heroic than Rumple. But my devilishly handsome face probably makes it hard to trust me. I get it; there's no way a face like this could possibly be trusted, but I can. On some occasions. When it's in my personal interest or benefit.
"You know, most people knock, but you come in unannounced while I'm not even in the room." Morgan's voice says, making me face the dirty-blonde beauty leaning against the doorway.
"Are you surprised?" I counter.
"Not really. I'm more shocked that you're in Rumplestiltskin's house. It's not like the two of you can actually tolerate one another."
"But he's not here right now, is he?"
"No. He took Belle out on a date."
"Then let's have some fun." I see Morgan smirk before she pushes herself off the doorway and walks over towards me. When her face is only inches from my face, I grab her and passionately start kissing her. In a matter of minutes, both of our shirts are off and somewhere on the floor, and I'm on top of her on the bed, proving my dominance.
