Chapter 45
Continuing the leg in Shanghai..
Tigerstar and Scourge got great directions and the taxi driver was able to follow them. However Crowfeather and Lionblaze were the first pair of this group to find the gardens. They read the clue and wondered about getting there when their taxi driver did not speak English. Lionblaze saw a sign that said, "Subway". He pointed it out to Crowfeather and they raced to find the subway. Tigerstar and Scourge arrived just in time to see Crowfeather and Lionblaze running off but they could not catch them to ask them where they were going. Scourge read the clue and was thinking it would be difficult to take the taxi again as their taxi driver did not speak English. He was thinking as Tigerstar said, "Wait here's a sign for subway. Let's go".
"Where is this? Oh I see the sign. Yes let's run. Maybe we can catch Crowfeather and Lionblaze on the train?", said Scourge. Meanwhile Leafpool and Hollyleaf asked the taxi driver for directions and they were lucky enough to find a taxi driver who speaks English. They ask the taxi driver to go fast and they do. They actually arrived at the same time Scourge and Tigerstar did. Hollyleaf made sure to tell the taxi driver to wait. She wasn't sure how common an English speaking taxi driver was in Shanghai and she didn't want to lose him. She also made sure that Scourge and Tigerstar didn't see her lest they try to steal their cab. They get the clue and then see Scourge and Tigerstar running off somewhere.
Hollyleaf and Leafpool run back to their cab and ask the taxi driver to drive them to the Shanghai Museum. At the same time, Crowfeather and Lionblaze arrive in the subway station with Tigerstar and Scourge a minute behind them. Lionblaze scours the subway station for English signs, maps or maybe someone that would speak English. He found someone who appeared to be either a tourist or expat. He got the person's attention. The person looked shocked, "a talking cat"? they thought to themselves? That would teach them not to drunk too much. The person rubbed their eyes and realized they were not even that drunk and what they saw must be true. The person decided to help them and show them which line to take and which stops and also how to buy tickets. Scourge and Tigerstar see them do this and run over and interrupt as the person is giving instructions.
"Who are these rude cats? Should I respond to them?" said the person.
"No"! exclaimed Lionblaze and Crowfeather.
"Don't listen to these insolent fools. Help us instead", said Tigerstar.
Scourge stared at Tigerstar and said, "Let me handle this. Sir, I'm sorry about my friend and that he interrupted you, could you please give us directions too?"
The guy looked at Scourge and Tigerstar and back to Lionblaze and Crowfeather. He was scared of Tigerstar with his sharp teeth and decided to fill in the other pair of cats on his instructions for Lionblaze and Crowfeather. Both Lionblaze and Crowfeather who were not afraid of Tigerstar glared at him. Finally they were all sorted out and happened to make the same train to the museum together. What they didn't know is that Hollyleaf and Leafpool got there 10 minutes earlier and were inside already getting their tour as the other two teams arrived. They were shocked and Lionblaze asked his sister how they did it. She just gave a knowing smile and said nothing. She already thought she had the first number and Leafpool was going to try to get the second number. Lionblaze asked his sister if she would at least work together with them. Leafpool was uncomfortable being with Crowfeather but looked to Hollyleaf for her opinion and she nodded yes. So Lionblaze went on the quick tour and then concentrated on number 3. They then exchanged their numbers with each other.
Meanwhile Tigerstar and Scourge are starting to figure out their numbers but are unsure on the third one, so Scourge goes back to check. Lionblaze, Crowfeather, Hollyleaf and Leafpool cannot come to a consensus on the same 3 numbers. Lionblaze finally decided to go back to the sculpture for the second number, because it was the one they could not agree on. He got the answer Leafpool got. But then they were unsure on the third number, so Leafpool did that one. She got a different answer than Lionblaze. She was frowning especially since Tigerstar and Scourge seemed to be ready to put in their code for the combination lock. This time Crowfeather ran to the third one and as he goes off, Tigerstar and Scourge open the lock and read the envelope with their clue. They nod after reading the clue and run out. Crowfeather got the same answer as Leafpool and finally they are in agreement with the number. They try the lock and they are right. They also get the clue. Tigerstar and Scourge run off towards the subway and Leafpool pretends she has to go to the bathroom and waits for Lionblaze and Crowfeather to run off. Then they catch their cab. Tigerstar and Scourge decide to go to the soup dumpling place as does Lionblaze and Crowfeather and Leafpool and Hollyleaf.
