Hey, guys! It's been a while! I apologize for not updating sooner, but I couldn't seem to get this chapter right! I literally edited and rewrote this chapter at least four times :/ I realized that I'd rather upload the chapter later and have it be the way I want it to be than to upload the chapter sooner and not have it be the way I want it to be. I think that's all I have to say right now!

"Oh my gosh...why didn't he tell me this?!" I exclaimed.
"I know...and I thought you guys were just starting to become friends," Grant said.
I put my head in my hands and sighed. "Well...I sort of destroyed that last night."
"What happened?" Grant asked.
"Well, we got in a fight and I called him a self-centered jerk and told him I never wanted to talk to him ever again," I explained.
"Oh Cam...well don't worry! When he gets back you can fix things."
"I know...I'm just going to have I wait until then. Where is he right now, anyways?" I asked.
"Well, he left this morning to go back to New York where his family is. He should be flying there right now," Grant explained.
"When is the funeral? I think that we need to be there for him," I told him.
"I think that it is going to be this Friday."
"Alright, well we will get permission to leave on Wednesday so we can get there by Thursday. I need to be there on Thursday so that I am not apologizing on the same day as the funeral," I explained.
"Sounds good to me," Grant whispered while our teacher started staring at Grant and I to shut us up.
LINEBREAK
The rest of the day went by in a blur, and pretty soon the first school day was over. I had at least one of our friends in each class, so I wasn't by myself in any class. At the end of the day, Grant and I got our whole group of friends together to discuss our plan. Once we told them the plan and how we were going to leave on Wednesday, everyone agreed and decided to go back to their dorms to start packing. It was Monday, so there was still one more day before we left. Our only issue was that we weren't sure if we were going to be able to get out of school for three days. After school on Tuesday, we all met in the lounge to discuss how we would get permission to be gone for so long.
"Does anybody have any ideas on how we will get permission?" Bex asked.
Right when she asked that, Macey came walking in. "Sorry that I'm late, but I do have a simple answer to your problem. We just call up my dad, and then we have my dad talk to the school; it's no biggie," Macey said nonchalantly. There definitely were advantages to being the senator's only daughter's best friend!
"Thanks, Mace! You're a life saver!" I exclaimed!
Macey then got on the phone with her dad, and then he immediately called the school. We were excused for the rest of the week! Once Macey's dad got us a private jet and got us hotel rooms (one suite for the guys, one for the girls) we were good to go! I then went back to my room to finish my packing when someone came up behind me.
"So, I haven't seen you with Zach lately-did you two break up?" Austin asked. I rolled my eyes-he was the last person that I wanted to see.
I turned around and glared at him. "Nope, we are still together. If you must know, he is going to be gone for the next week or so."
"Aww…are you guys having relationship issues and he needed some space?" Austin asked mockingly.
"Nope-more like a family emergency that is none of your business! Now if you'll excuse me I need to go to my dorm right now and I don't need to deal with you!" I exclaimed as I reached my dorm and slammed the door shut. All I wanted to do was get to New York right away so I could apologize to Zach. The guilt was eating me alive, and I didn't know how much longer I could deal with it. Once I finally finished packing, I laid down on my bed and cried myself to sleep.
LINEBREAK
I woke up the next morning to the girls slapping me in the face.
"You need to get up now, Cam! The limo will be here in an hour to take us to the airport!" Macey sang as she went into her closet and threw clothes at me. One hour later, I was in a pair of white shorts and a blue tank top, and my hair and makeup was done by Macey. I didn't understand why I needed to be so dressed up when we were going to be on a plane first, but I let her dress me up anyways. Once we all got on the limo, we headed straight for the airport. We were escorted to Macey's private jet, and we were immediately headed towards New York. I was able to sit next to Liz and catch up with her even more, which was really nice since I hadn't seen her in what felt like centuries.
"What if Zach doesn't forgive me?" I asked Liz. I wasn't going to lie, I was terrified of finally facing Zach and apologizing. I couldn't wait to see him, but I was afraid of what he would say.
"I bet everything will work out, don't worry. He was chasing after you for a while, and you guys finally agreed on being friends. I know you guys fought, but I bet he needs your friendship now more than ever," Liz said.
"Thanks, Liz-you always know what to say, and I've missed that," I said as I hugged her. We spent the rest of the flight talking until we landed in New York. We took another limo straight to Zach's house, and once we arrived I couldn't get myself to ring the doorbell. The others stayed in the car and decided that I needed to talk to him first, and they drove off and were going to come back later. After contemplating ringing the doorbell for what seemed like forever, I finally rang the doorbell. I waited a second when a lady with sad green eyes answered the door.
"Hi, I'm a friend of Zach's from school. Is there any way I could talk to him right now?" I asked the sad lady.
"You must be Cammie. I'm Zach's mom, by the way. Just head up to Zach's room-it's the first door on your left," Mrs. Goode said as she went to grab more tissues.
"Thanks. I'm so sorry for your loss," I said as I walked up the stairs. When I got to Zach's room, I once again couldn't get myself to knock on the door. I knew that I had screwed things up, and I wasn't there for him when I should have been. I then realized I had to face reality, so I knocked on the door. After a few awkward moments, the door opened to probably the saddest looking person I had ever met. I didn't even start my apology when Zach grabbed my waist and brought me into a hug. I hugged him back for the next hour as he kept his head on my shoulder. At least I was there for him then, when I should have been there for him all along.
LINE BREAK
After an hour of Zach laying on my shoulder, he finally stopped crying and it was silent. I figured that it would be a good time to finally apologize.
"Zach, I'm so sorry for everything that I said to you. I was just upset and I thought we were finally beginning to be friends and I was tired and I really shouldn't be making excuses but I'm so sorry. I should've been there for you, but instead I was yelling at you. I'm an awful person, and I'm so sorry," I said as I looked at Zach.
Zach then looked at me for a moment before finally speaking.
"It's okay, you're not an awful person, and you had no idea about what had happened. I'm just shocked that you were able to leave school and fly all the way here."
"Yeah, well when one of your best friends is the senator's daughter, anything is possible," I said while I smirked.
Zach frowned. "Hey! Don't steal my smirk!"
"Back to seriousness...do you want to talk about what happened?" I asked him sadly.
Zach nodded, sighed, sat next to me, and started talking. "I've always been very close to my dad. We always spent a lot of time together, and any free time my dad had was spent with me. I started going to boarding schools in sixth grade, so after that I didn't see him half as much, but we still kept in touch. I can't believe he's gone, Cam. One minute he was still here, the next he was gone. I honestly don't know what to do right now...I can't seem to accept the fact that my dad was killed in a car accident..." Zach said sadly.
I reached out and grabbed his hand in mine. "No matter what happens, I am here for you. All of our friends will always be here for you." The doorbell suddenly rang. Just a moment later, I heard all of the rest of our friends running up the stairs to Zach's room. While the rest of our friends went to comfort Zach, I went outside to get some air. I couldn't accept the fact that this was all happening. This was all real.
