Chapter Forty-Three
"Stop giving me that look," she told him without turning around. Rummaging through her closet, Georgie felt his eyes on her and instinctively knew he was less than thrilled she'd made plans to go out. But hiding inside wasn't acceptable to her.
"What look?" he asked innocently before standing and looping his arms around her waist. "Paranoia's a sign of mental illness, you know."
Playfully elbowing him in the ribs, she reached for a shirt before sagging back into him as he tickled her sides. Twisting and squirming, she attempted to break free while giggling. "Johnny! Stop! Please!" she begged as her entire body convulsed with laughter.
"Uh uh. You could cancel lunch and I could reschedule the meeting." His rich voice dropped to a seductive growl near her ear. "Since you're still a bit tired we could spend the free time in bed."
Goosebumps spread over neck and arms. Turning in his light embrace, she pressed a kiss on his jaw before smiling sassily. "I'm pretty sure the guys need to see you and I want my daughter back. Besides, what you have in mind wouldn't help me be less tired."
"Sure it would. We'd both need a nap to recover afterwards," he retorted with a wink. Releasing her so she could finish dressing, he stepped back and admired the view of her standing in front him in only a matching bra and panties set. He could spend all day in bed with Georgie and still not get enough of her. "Seriously though, are you sure going out is a smart idea? You're still not feeling all that great."
"I'm just tired and a little stressed, Johnny."
He grimaced. The stress would only increase now that they were back. Maxie and Alexis were pretty much guaranteed to piss her off before the end of the day. "Remember to stay in the guy's sight at all times, Georgie. My father's been quiet for too long. Not to mention Frisco must be chomping for the chance to approach you."
Fixing the thin straps of her tank top, she glanced over at him, chewing on her lip. "Any word on Diego?"
"My uncle's guys reported he flew out of South America the night before we left. He only stayed in Italy for one night before going to his family's estate. I assume he's back but staying out of sight." A frown betrayed her unease. He knew she worried about him blaming her for their son's death but at the same time wanted to talk to him. Even as he understood, Johnny dreaded Diego taking an active role in their lives. But unless he proved a danger they would have to find a way to coexist because Johnny wasn't going anywhere. "It'll be okay, Georgie, I promise."
Needing to feel him, she hugged him tightly before snuggling into his chest. "I hope so, Johnny. But so much has happened. We've both changed dramatically. Diego's not going to be the same person I knew. I don't know what to expect," she admitted. "But I think I need to see him and get it over with. I can't keep making myself sick with worry. I'm afraid he's going to hate me after it's all said and done."
The soft confession had him wishing he could reassure her. But he wasn't certain that the man wouldn't be a threat once he learned Georgie was in love with him, that their marriage was real in every aspect possible. "No matter what happens you aren't alone, baby. We'll deal with whatever comes our way together."
"I love you."
"Forever," he agreed before swatting her bottom. "Now finish getting ready before I decide to forget everything else except for tossing you back in bed and how incredibly sexy you are."
"You're insatiable!"
"For you, hell yeah I am!" Walking her backwards toward the bed, Johnny grinned wickedly when she pointedly glanced over at the clock and back. "We can always track Bay down in a bit and the guys aren't gonna start the meeting without me." His long fingers skimmed down her neck before teasingly circling her nipples.
Fire jumped into her eyes as Georgie's body started to hum in anticipation. A whimper escaped as his fingers brushed over her breasts before lightly pinching her nipples through the fabric of her clothes. "We really don't have time, Johnny," she breathlessly protested weakly.
Jerking her forward and crashing his lips on hers in a short but intensely erotic kiss, Johnny then grabbed her hips, turning her so she faced away from him. "This won't take long," he promised huskily. "Get on the bed."
Doing as directed, she climbed on the bed and started to turn but he dragged her back to the edge of the bed. "Just like that, baby," he hissed while unfastening his jeans and letting them pool around his feet.
On her hands and knees on the bed with him standing behind her, Georgie turned her head to look back at him. "Johnny, I…"
"You loved it in the elevator," he reminded her, growing harder when she blushed at the memory. Her eyelids dropped as he dipped a finger under the edge of her panties, testing her readiness. Growling at how slick she already was, Johnny tugged the small fabric to the side before lifting her hips up and driving into her without any warning.
"J-Johnny!" She clenched the bedspread in her fingers while trying not to sob in pleasure. The long, quick thrusts broke her control. Never before had she felt so full. Whimpering incoherently as he increased the already rapid pace, Georgie's body quivered as the delicious feelings intensified.
"Fuck, Georgie!" he growled, his hands tightening on her slender hips while thrusting as hard and deep as dared in this position. Her tight little body was made for him but sometimes he worried about hurting her she was so tight. Her increasingly loud moans and pants driving him closer to his release, Johnny reached around her without breaking his furious rhythm and flicked at her nipples a few times before her inner walls started to ripple around him. His other hand caressed her smooth thigh, loving the fee of her silky smooth skin. His primal instincts flared to life. He needed to hear her say it while she came all around him. Fisting a hand in her hair, Johnny pulled her head back up from where she'd let it drop. "Mine! Do you hear me, Georgie? You belong to me. Say it for me."
Her eyes fluttered as she felt the pleasure building. She was so close.
"Say it!" he demanded harshly as he felt himself getting ready to explode with her. Hearing only her moans, he tugged on her hair with more force, causing her to gasp. "Damn it, baby! Now!"
"O-only yours, Johnny!" she managed to whimper. "Please, Johnny! I love you! I-I'm… Oh God!" she wailed as he sank deeper into her, forcing her over the edge at the same time he emptied himself deep inside her.
Leaning forward to press his lips against the back of her neck, he couldn't help but wonder how he'd gotten so lucky. She was it for him. There was no doubt Georgie was his perfect match. There would never be anyone else for him again, not after experiencing how amazing she was in every single way. His only regret was not recognizing she belonged with him first time they met. "I love you, baby," he murmured at her ear.
Adjusting her head so she could see him out of the corner of her eyes, Georgie laced her fingers with his hand now resting near hers. "I love you too. And now I'm convinced more than ever that you need that warning label."
Johnny smirked before standing and then helping her regain her balance when he pulled her into his arms. "Actually I think we can skip that. You already know how I am so it'd be a waste. You better get dressed before I decide to call and tell everyone that we're sick."
OoOoOoOoOoOo
"First day back and you can't get motivated enough to be on time."
"I'm here now, aren't I?" Johnny looked around the office and could tell things weren't as bad as feared. Jason almost looked relaxed and O'Brien was his normal smartass self. "Where's Francis?"
"Marco had a family emergency so he volunteered to go with Elizabeth today. I think he suspects trouble at the girls' lunch. He'll be able to keep Elizabeth from jumping into the middle of the melee if so." Jason rubbed his neck before sliding a folder across the desk. "Diane finalized the papers from your Uncle. The international shipping lanes were put solely in your name since it's your family connections."
"Other organizations aren't going to be comfortable with me controlling so much. You know that."
"Zacchara, as long as there's enough protection on Georgie and Baylor it won't matter if they're pissed. Unless someone slips into Port Charles undetected you'll be fine. Cementing the partnership with Jason causes people to stop and think before reacting rashly."
"I never wanted this much power, O'Brien."
"And you wouldn't have had it except you stepped in to help Georgie. I warned you that you'd have to step back into a position of power," Jason pointed out. "You knew about the Alcazar connection. The Jerome connection surprised us all, but it can't be helped. You've got a good business head, John, and enough ruthlessness to hold everything steady." He leaned back and pinched his nose. "And I think you're going to need it. Francis got confirmation this morning on who ordered the warehouse explosion."
Stomach clenching, he had a pretty good idea whose name Morgan was getting ready to say. It didn't surprise him. But it did sicken him. His father had no regard for human life.
"Anthony's a twisted bastard, but why do that? He didn't gain anything from killing those men."
"A distraction of some sort," Johnny guessed disgusted at his father's handiwork. "Damn. I have no idea what the old man is up to. I thought he was focused on Bay and her inheritance."
"He could've thought Georgie would run if things got too complicated."
"If she knew it related to her, she might," O'Brien reminded Jason with a wary look in Johnny's direction. It didn't escape him that the younger man tensed. "No matter how much she's changed over the years, Georgie's still that young girl that hated confrontations. Hell, she let Dillon treat her like shit for months, Jason, before all hell broke loose with that entire fiasco. And while she's more vocal and stands up for herself now, it doesn't change who she is fundamentally."
"She's cracking under the pressure, or starting too," Johnny told them grimly. "Last night she broke down for the first time since admitting Jerome was her father."
"Is something else going on with her?" O'Brien asked with a confused look on his normally amused face. "I watched her relive the hell she lived with Sarah helping her by listening, Zacchara. I honestly didn't expect her to fall apart unless something happened to Bay. The girl's got a hell of a backbone."
"Do you think Sarah…"
"Not a chance in hell," he interrupted, knowing exactly what he was going to ask. "She's already pissed I told you anything. She won't break Georgie's confidence."
"She shouldn't," Jason spoke up. "You want answers, Johnny, you go to the source about this one. Georgie's your wife. You can't treat it like business and go behind her back. I've done that with Elizabeth in the past and it backfired in my face. It's slow but she trusts you more than anyone else. If you give her reason to doubt you, she'll pull back and you'll be back at square one." He gestured to himself. "I've been there. Trust me, it kills a part of you to know you're responsible for creating the distance and damage to the relationship. Don't make my mistakes."
"Fine," he responded unhappily. "But what do you think the crazy old man's up to?"
"Hell if I know. But he went quiet while you were gone. I'd say we'll be hearing from him again now that you all are back."
"Spencer?"
A feral grin slowly spread over Jason's face. "No longer an issue. But the Cassadine family isn't going to halt whatever the hell they're plotting."
"Too bad we don't have a fucking clue what that is."
"Well, we know Jerry was searching for Georgie before you ran into her, O'Brien. So it only makes sense her and Baylor factor into it. But after researching Helena a bit more, I assume Elizabeth's going to be included into whatever plot she's working on."
"But that still doesn't answer the question of which one will they move on first, Zacchara."
"Are you two going to bicker back and forth all day?" Jason demanded with a groan. "I don't know what I ever did to deserve two smartasses."
Johnny chuckled while the Irishman winked at him. Both loved to provoke the normally unflappable man.
"Ah, poor wittle baby. Did Frannie leave you with just us brats?"
"I swear to God you better thank your lucky stars that Elizabeth loves your crazy ass, Johnny. Her and Sarah would make life hell if I hurt you."
"What can I say? Those Webber girls love their lucky charms."
Choking back a snort when Jason glowered at the dancing green eyed jokester, Johnny couldn't help but be thankful the two former friends of Morgan had returned. The entertainment O'Brien provided was priceless and Francis possessed the level head to keep everyone from hitting the boiling point.
"I want Frisco…" he started but paused when the door slammed open.
All three focused on Max when he burst into the room, his face flushed.
"Cody just called. You need to get to GH."
Jason's heart stopped as fear slithered down his back. "Elizabeth?"
Max flinched and shook his head, his eyes darting to Zacchara. "No."
OoOoOoOoOoOo
Sarah's eyes scanned the mostly empty diner before landing back on her sister. The cat that ate the canary look was pulling at her curiosity. "Okay. I've been as patient as I can. Spill, Lizzie!"
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
"You're losing your touch. That innocent face needs some work."
Elizabeth arched a brow. "What are you talking about, Georgie? And you are the one that was almost thirty minutes late. Just why is that, hmm?"
Blushing, she shook her head. "None of your business. Now stop changing the subject. Sarah and I aren't blind, you know."
Unable to contain the excitement any longer, she grinned widely. "I'm getting married next weekend!"
"What?!"
"Yep. I don't want to wait any longer."
"About freaking time. I thought you and Jason were never going to get it right!"
Hugging her friend as Elizabeth stuck her tongue out at Sarah, Georgie smiled softly. "Congratulations! But last I heard you were talking about September."
"Neither of us needs that big ceremony to be happy. All we need is each other."
Sarah embraced her next and squeezed her hard. "I'm so happy for you, Liz!" Her eyes landed on Georgie as she pulled back and she exchanged a smile with the younger woman before teasing her. "Sap!"
"Allergies," she automatically denied.
"Sure."
Ignoring the taunt, Georgie cut Baylor's grilled cheese into four pieces after the food arrived as Elizabeth and Sarah got the boys situated back into their chairs. She was lifting half of her grilled cheese when she heard Logan clear his throat from the next table where the guys sat. Immediately turning toward the door, Georgie grimaced and dropped the uneaten sandwich back the plate. "Crap!"
"Well lookie what the cat dragged in!" the blond sneered, her voice dripping with scorn. "Where the hell have you been, Georgie? Did you forget who you're real family is?" Shrugging off Dillon's restraining hand, Maxie stomped closer to the table. "And when you finally grace us all with your wonderful presence you decide to meet with these bitches! I needed you, Georgie! You're my sister and you act like it doesn't matter that I'm going through hell!"
Rubbing Baylor's back as she sniffled at the raised voice, Georgie inclined her head and Sarah immediately picked the toddler up, cuddling her close. Standing, she motioned Logan back but wasn't surprised when he still stepped right behind her. "Maxie, I'm not fighting with you in public. I planned on stopping over and checking on you after I left here and took Bay to Johnny."
"So these sluts rate higher than I do?" she screeched, not mollified in the least.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes before trying to keep Cam and Jake entertained. The last thing she needed was for them to start asking questions.
"Outside, now!" Georgie ordered in a deceptively calm voice. But her eyes blazed with fury. "What the hell is your problem, Maxie? I just got back in the States! I told you I planned to stop in later on."
"I'm your sister, Georgie! Me! Not them!" she hissed, jerking her head in the direction of Kelly's door. "But that's not even the issue! You were off gallivanting around Italy when Robin and I both needed you here! Coop's dead! I'm all alone and Robin's in critical condition. And where is my perfect, never does a damn thing wrong, angelic sister? Off fucking her mobster husband and playing happy family while mine is crumbling!"
Logan laid a hand on Georgie's shoulder. He could practically feel her rage building. Maxie's attack was brutal, even for the self-absorbed blond. "Come on, Max. You need to calm down, for the baby if not yourself. Stop ranting and saying things you can't take back."
"Calm down!" she screamed while moving closer, her hands flying in every direction. "Your best friend was setup, Logan! And where were you? Huh? Did you help Johnny frame Coop? Is Georgie fucking you too? Is that why everyone worships her now?" She looked Georgie up and down with disdain. "What happened, Georgie? Diego teach you how to whore yourself out to get whatever your precious heart desires?"
Grabbing her wrist, Dillon tugged Maxie back. The filth spewing from her mouth astounded and shamed him. He knew she was hurt Georgie hadn't run straight home, but what she was yelling was unforgivable. "Maxie, you don't mean that. You're going to hate yourself when you calm down."
"No, Dillon, it's fine. Maxie's never more honest when she's pissed and going off. Not enough time to think of ways to lie and manipulate people to her advantage." Georgie continued to meet her sister's hate filled eyes. "Tell me what you really feel, Maxie. Because this is obviously about more than us not coming back from Italy."
Lunging forward Maxie attempted to smack Georgie but Logan grabbed her arm.
"Don't even, Maxie," he warned grimly.
"See! That's why I hate you! Everything is always about you! Perfect, wonderful, adored Georgie! You finally bring your ass back here and everyone immediately starts fawning all over you! And let's face it. It's not like you were hurt. You were with Diego! A man you trusted enough to have a daughter with, so your time away couldn't have been as bad as we all feared." Breathing heavily, she knocked Dillon's hand off her arm. "You grace us with your presence and don't answer any questions. You lied to us all!"
"No, I never lied, Maxie. Just because I refuse to go into detail about what happened doesn't mean I lied. And you know what, it's not your business."
"It is when you come back completely different! I miss my sister that honestly cared about me! SHE would've been here helping me when I lost the man I love!"
Disgusted at the tantrum and the reason behind it, Georgie shook her head. "You are the most selfish person I've ever known. You have no idea of the hell I've been through and you want to stand there and scream at me because I'm not the same naïve, foolish girl! I do feel bad that I wasn't here when you needed me, Maxie, but I was already in Italy when we received the news. I'm sorry you are hurting over Cooper's death, but you are way out of line right now. I haven't done a single thing to warrant this attack. Do you hear the spiteful and hurtful insults you're screaming at me in public? My daughter is inside that diner, Maxie!"
"I don't care about your damn brat!"
Georgie inhaled sharply but remained quiet as Maxie spiraled out of control.
"I wish you both had never come home! Then Coop wouldn't have been fucking dreaming of you and he'd be alive! Here with me where he belongs! I lost everything when you came home, Georgie! I hate you! I wish you'd died!"
"I don't care if you hafta forcibly drag her, but get Maxie out of here, Quartermaine, or I will!" Logan barked at the stunned man before turning an eerily still Georgie to face him. Watching in his peripheral vision as Dillon practically carried a sobbing Maxie from the restaurant area, he made sure they were gone before giving Wilson the signal to follow them. Maxie could be dangerous when out of control like he'd just witnessed.
Georgie vacantly stared off, her attention somewhere else. Concerned about the effect of her sister's intentionally painful tirade he snapped his fingers in front of her. No response. "Come on, doll," he urged softly before gently shaking her. "Georgie girl, you okay?"
She blinked before slowly focusing on him. "Yeah, I'm fine." Shakily breathing in, she briefly closed her eyes before sadly smiling at him. "I expected her to go off, but I didn't realize she's hated me all along."
"Max doesn't hate you, doll. You know how she gets." It sounded weak even to his him. The pent up frustrations had hit their mark and Logan could tell Maxie had been struggling to keep it all hidden for a long time. "You wanna get the rugrat and head out?" The bubbly upbeat mood from earlier long gone, Georgie had paled and become more withdrawn the longer Maxie had screamed.
"Not hardly. I refuse to let her ruin Bay's… Oh my God!"
"What?" Looking in the direction she took a step toward, Logan immediately wrenched her back to his side while cursing sending Wilson after Maxie. Milo, Elizabeth, and Sarah's guards were all inside. "Stay!" he hissed in his don't mess with me tone she recognized well.
"But…" Her eyes darted back to Diego when he winked before falling back into the shadows and disappearing from sight. "Logan!"
Quickly sending a text to Francis, he kept a hand on her arm to make sure she stayed put. "Don't even. You promised Zacchara you wouldn't talk to Diego unless he was there, Georgie. If there isn't anything to worry about he wouldn't have taken off."
"I'm going to have to deal him, Logan," she pointed out in exasperation. Georgie knew he was right. Johnny would kill her if she had just walked over to him, but she needed to clear the air between them. After Maxie's outburst she needed the closure. Being in a constant state of the unknown was making her sick. Turning to the door when Francis started to join them, she felt the ground tilt before nothingness.
Catching Georgie as her limp body pitched forward, Francis cursed vehemently. This was so not going to go over well.
