Quietly shutting the door as she exited the exam room she blinked at the anxious group impatiently waiting. From all the loud voices they had heard before the guys finally managed to convince Zacchara to let them do their job, Sarah knew Georgie's husband had long passed into frantic mode. Unfortunately the long night was only beginning. Leaning heavily on the crutch she needed to keep pressure on her injured leg to a minimum she silently crossed the room before lowering herself onto the coffee table in from of a now nervous Johnny.
"Before I explain what's going on I need you to promise to stay calm, Johnny. I sedated Georgie as soon Logan brought her in and Kelly came to ask for my assistance. Even with the strong sedative she became restless and her blood pressure shot back up when we heard your voice. When she arrived Georgie's blood pressure was dangerously elevated. Somehow she must sense you're here and obviously upset. I'm asking you to dig deep for the control I know you must possess. Cause if you can't and you upset Georgie in anyway, make no mistake, I will have you banned from her room," Sarah warned without hesitation.
Understanding the exhausted blond meant business Johnny inhaled deeply, digging for the control that had eluded him since Max found him at the coffee shop. He also was aware of how on edge O'Brien was with Sarah obviously hurting but taking care of her friend. "I'm okay. Promise," he added added at her doubtful look.
"You better be," she sighed before readjusting her body, trying to get comfortable. "I specifically warned both you and Georgie stress would have bad consequences if it wasn't managed correctly. And she's stressed to the point of breaking, Johnny. Honestly I don't know how she's managed to stay half way calm with what I just know about. But she's close to falling back over the edge I helped keep her from when she arrived in Ireland." Glancing at her husband and receiving a faint nod Sarah grimaced, eyes dimming. "She'd be so pissed for what I'm about to tell you but I think you need to know how close Georgie's been to the edge. Four days after my Johnny brought Georgie and Baylor to our house I found Georgie unconscious on the bathroom floor. She'd nearly overdosed that day." When all the guys inhaled sharply she caught Johnny's trembling hands. "It's not that uncommon considering all she'd survived. She felt broken and hadn't really had any support system. She denied it was intentional and honestly I'm not certain either way. On one hand I can't imagine her intentionally leaving Baylor. Georgie loves that little girl with every fiber of her being. And the meds were new. But on the other hand Georgie's always been extremely bright, intelligent beyond her years. Looking back I think the pressure finally became to much before she reached our place. Once they were somewhere safe her defenses crumbled. Then she decided to return to Port Charles against my advice. All those walls automatically reconstructed themselves. and now you're tearing them down. Losing the only coping mechanism she's known is leaving Georgie vulnerable." At the man's stricken expression Sarah squeezed his hands. "Let me finish, Zacchara. You're the best thing to happen in her life in a very, very long time. She needs to learn to trust again. For her sanity as well as your relationship. Don't feel guilt because it's not your fault. The circumstances surrounding your relationship guaranteed you'd both encounter problems. And she's not exactly made it any easier. Georgie is a friend, like a sister to me. I love her and Bay. Doesn't mean I ignore how extremely wary and skittish she is. And this pregnancy combined with Diego showing back up is going to weigh heavily upon her, Johnny. Especially since she allowed you fully in to her past. I had prescribed her meds for the nightmares when she lived with us. Unfortunately I'm not comfortable giving them with the pregnancy."
Trying to absorb all Sarah had shared he shakily ran a hand through his hair. "Her blood pressure? Were you able to get it back down?"
Sarah smiled. "Yes. From the initial exam both she and the baby are good. I only sedated her because Kelly and I couldn't keep her calm. If you'd been here I probably wouldn't have needed to go that particular route. Georgie was asking for you."
"Sarah?"
Glancing back at Kelly who was standing at the door of the room with a paper in her hand Sarah motioned the other doctor closer. Pain kept her from immediately standing. "The lab was quick."
"Those aren't back yet." Meaningfully meeting the blond's questioning eyes Kelly handed over the paper. "Do you see what I do?"
"Oh my God! " she whispered eyes narrowing as she studied the image. Depending on Georgie's reaction this could be bad. The similarities were so freaking haunting.
"What? What's wrong?" Johnny demanded while Jason and O'Brien braced for containing their friend.
Moisture pooling in her eyes Sarah blinked up at him. "You and Georgie are pregnant with twins, John. Both appear healthy. Congratulations!"
Shocked speechless he stated at the ultrasound she handed him. Words failed him. Joy buzzed through his veins until he recalled how scared Georgie already was. He prayed hearing about the surprise of twins wouldn't be the final straw. "Oh wow," he murmured while glancing back up at her. "She's liable to. .."
"Losing Brandon nearly destroyed her. She can't go through another tragedy even remotely close to that again. You're gonna have to do everything in your power to keep your wife calm and relaxed, Johnny. Of course this newest development will bring back those horrible memories. But unlike before, she's got a large support system in you and all of us. Georgie'll surprise you when push comes to shove."
Recognizing how fatigue was staying to settle over the other woman's features he caught O'Brien's eye and nodded. "Thank you for taking care of Georgie with Dr. Lee. While I sincerely appreciate it, you've done all you can. Let OB take you back to your room. You gotta be exhausted."
Sarah chucked. All the guys were overprotective. Must be a trait in the air of the warehouses they worked around. "I'm actually going home. Kelly will be in house all night if anything happens. And I'm only a phone call away as well. But don't thank me, Johnny. I love Georgie as much as I love Liz. Nothing would've kept me away once I heard she was here."
OoOoOoOoOo
Elizabeth frowned, eyes never leaving Jason and OB as they both paced around the living room. Settling Sarah into bed hasn't taken long considering she was dead on her feet. In fact she'd barely opened her eyes when Elizabeth changed get clothes. The most alert she became was when Baylor climbed into the bed beside her, snuggling against the blond she'd come to love. Returning to the men for an explanation of what had happened seemed to take forever in her opinion though. Now finding them both looking nervous while Francis just appeared plain pissed unnerved her. "Please tell me nothing else has happened to Georgie."
"She's fine, Lizbits." Francis shrugged to relieve the tension in his neck and shoulders.
"Then what's wrong?"
Jason pinched his nose. Business wasn't something he involved her in by choice. He did his best to keep Elizabeth and the boys far away from the darker side of his life. However not answering wasn't an option. She was worried about their friends. Letting her assume their distraction was over Georgie would be cruel, although it did relate back to the younger woman. "Um, were actually trying to smooth over some of the problems so Zacchara can focus on Georgie. His attention needs to be on his wife at the moment."
Disbelief widened her eyes. "I hope you aren't serious. John will never forgive you if you interfere with anything he's planning. Come on, guys. Think. How would you feel if the situations were reversed?" Pointedly glaring at her brother-in-law she crossed her arms. "If it was Sarah, heaven forbid, who was in Georgie's place would you want to handle things, OB. Cause I don't even need to ask Jason. He'd want to hurt you if the situation was reversed and you did what you are thinking about."
"Point taken," Francis conceded when the other two only remained silent. "But Zaccahara's got more than enough to keep him occupied. And he needs to accept our help. I don't think he'll forgive himself if something happened to cause him to lose Georgie. He's head over heels for her."
Frustration bloomed across her face. "All I'm saying is stepping on his toes with Diego or Frisco could have the opposite affect you're trying to have. Instead of butting into their business focus on who attacked our house while the kids were there. That way you're still taking care of everyone's safety but not pissing of a man who's probably gonna annihilate the next person who crosses him."
Jason slowly shook his head. Sometimes another perspective magnified the error of their thinking process. "How'd you get so damn smart?"
"I'm female," she teased before turning serious. "I just know John better than you think. You're all a lot alike in so many ways. And none of you would be happy if someone implied you couldn't protect your family."
"That's not what we were thinking, kid. Zaccahara's more than capable of eliminating those who need it."
"Very true, OB. As all of you are. But Diego and Frisco are personal on a level I don't think you get. It would've been like Lucky for Jason." Her voice wavered but she managed a small smile. "I doubt Jason would've thanked you if you had done anything and left him out. And honestly, it needs to be him. Georgie will forgive and understand him doing what's necessary. But her emotions are complicated at best especially concerning Diego. Trust me when I say you don't wanna be in her line of fire if she doesn't agree with whatever you decided to do. And John understands her on a level I don't think she suspected."
"Sarah still asleep?" Johnny asked, purposely changing the subject. While he understood her need to treat Georgie, especially since Kelly didn't know her full history, he'd been scared it was too much with her recovering.
Unable to contain her giggles Elizabeth wrapped her and around Jason's waist. "Oh yeah. but you've company in your bed tonight besides your wife."
Johnny just smirked. He'd known the little brown haired imp would go straight to Sarah's side when Baylor was still awake when they returned. After making him promise her mommy and Zacchara were okay she'd followed Elizabeth up the stairs. He hasn't doubted where the toddler was heading. Sarah and Baylor shared a bond that never failed to amaze him. It was probably because of that connection existed Georgie had asked them to be the little girl's godparents. A position they immediately accepted without hesitation when asked while Georgie had still lived with them. "Kinda figured she'd end up there when I heard Milo brought her over to you. And she's probably the best medicine Sarah could have at the moment."
OoOoOoOoOo
"So. ..."
Uncertain why she'd be willing to risk helping him, he carefully considered the proposition. It never hurt to have as much help as possible. Besides, all suspicion would fall directly on the spiteful bitch standing in front of him. "Let me think it over. I've got another option available to think about."
Starting to run a hand over his arm she blinked when he jerked away.
"Don't touch me!" he snarled.
Backing away at the darkeness now flooded throughout his expression she gulped a deep breath. "Diego, I didn't mean..."
"Just shut up. I'm not gonna fuck you, Lulu. Even if I decide to go with your suggestion I'm not going to be your lap dog. I'm getting Georgie back. Touching you ain't happening. I'm not playing games."
Wanting to scoff but unsure of his mind set the youngest Spencer shrugged. "Your loss. I just know it must've been a long time." Helping him out wouldn't have been a hardship either. She'd only went after Dillon to get at Georgie. Once she got Johnny away from the whining bitch the only guy she'd never had the pleasure of taking would be Diego. Winning over Georgie would make it all that much sweeter if she could land Diego in her bed also. "Remember, do not hurt Johnny. I'll make sure he's distracted."
Hiding his smirk Diego only nodded. The little slut didn't stand a chance of landing Zacchara. He'd recognized all those emotions filtering across the bastard's face when they'd came face to face at the cabin. Too bad he'd soon feel the same desperation and pain Diego had endured for years. But Lulu would still be useful. While she created the distraction he would implement his own plan. Losing Georgie and Baylor was not acceptable. They were his family, not anyone else's. "I said I'll give it some thought. But now I need to go."
"Should I wait until I hear back from you before contracting Johnny?"
"No. Go ahead. You'll know when I'm onboard." Waiting until the stupid twit happily skipped down the pier Diego snorted. Talk about ignorant. All the Spencer's lacked any real brains. He pulled his cell from his jeans pocket and dialed, a faint smile curving his lips. "I think I've got everything set. Can you come? She'll never think twice about trusting you."
