Severus watches his annoyed godchild storm around the room in silence. He waits till the child sits next to him to say anything.
"Harry, I see you are staying for Christmas" he watches as Harry's face morphs into one of anger and then one of sadness.
"I want to go home," he whispers out. Severus looks at him feeling confused but not showing it.
"Why can't you." he asks "are you staying for a friend if so why not invite them home with you?" Harry shakes his head.
"That not it all my friends are going home but the headmaster says I can't and when I tried to ask why he gave me detention." He mumbles the last part out hoping Severus didn't hear.
"A Detention for what he has no right to keep you here and give you a detention." Harry looks up a Severus in shock. No one has ever got mad for him before and it warms his insides.
"Did you go to Minerva about this." He looks back down at Harry hoping he didn't frighten the boy too much but was surprised by the smile on his face.
"I did but she just said that if the Headmaster punished me then it was for a reason." Those words nearly threw Severus into a blind rage, but he held it back.
"I see, Harry you will be going home." he took some deep breath "So what do are you guys going to do for Christmas Harry." Harry smiled as listed off the things he and his family had planned. They spent the entire Sunday evening talking about their planes for Christmas break.
Later after Harry returned to the Gryffindor dorms Severus stormed his way to the headmaster's office.
"Minerva, we need to talk now." He says as the door slams open scaring some of the weaker-willed professors.
"Yes, I believe we do. I saw one of your snakes harassing one of my brightest lions and I will not have it." Severus sits in his usual corner and glares at her.
"A name would help Minerva." she straighten her back and says something that causes the whole room to laugh at her. "What this is a serious matter you all should be ashamed of." But is cut off by Filius.
"Minerva we all have an ongoing bet with Severus here to see how long those boys will take to notice that they are in love." Minerva jumps in shock.
"In love well, I can shoot down all of that Percy is dating Ms. Clearwater his mother told me so herself." Everyone laughs again.
"Minerva dear Molly has no idea what her boys are up to now before you go get riled up again you should at least understand that Percy and Vincent have been friends before Hogwarts, so you can relax no one is being bullied." Madam Pomfrey tries to smother her fears but Minerva won't hear it.
"Minerva, I believe Severus had something to say. So, we should let him speak." Filius stops her from restarting the hilarious conversation.
"Thank you, Filius now as I was saying How did my Godson not allowed to go home for Christmas break and how did he get a detention?" Severus asked keeping his calm while every other professor lost there at the thought of forcing a child to remain where they do not what to be. The room goes quiet when Albus enters.
