Chapter 22: Unexpected

Mya's P.O.V

I spent the whole day going through everything Peter had told me. It was exhausting.

He claimed I was smart enough to figure it out. Which meant I had all the means to.

What could he possibly need a boy for? But it wasn't just any boy. That would have been too easy. It must have been a specific one.

Still, why- my thoughts were interrupted as I recalled something. What was it that Felix had said?

Your heart is no longer needed.

I never gave much thought as to why Peter didn't need my heart anymore. It was all clear now. It wasn't my heart he needed. It was this boy's.

Now I just needed to figure out why Peter was so sure my father wouldn't return. He just needed to find a boy. It wasn't easy but with a little help, anyone could be found.

I had to confront Peter on this. He couldn't just leave me hanging. It was my father we were talking about. If anything happened to him, Peter would face my unnerving fury.

Third Person

On board the Jolly Roger, Captain Hook was in his cabin, focused intensely on a map he had spread across his wooden desk.

He didn't look up when he heard the door creak open. He already knew who it was. "Captain, the men have been complaining." Smee spoke cautiously. "We have been sailing for months now. With no success."

Hook replied, his eyes still locked on the map. "If they wish to leave, they're free to do so." He glanced up. "From the plank." Smee hoped for signs of a joke, but there were none. This was no humorous comment.

"Aye, captain." And with that, the sailor left.

Hook watched him leave, and as soon as the door was slammed shut behind him, he banged his hook against the map. Leaving a deep mark on the table beneath it.

Months. Months had passed with no success.

If he couldn't find the boy, he'd never see his daughter again. And he wouldn't allow that to happen.

He had searched villages, castles, anywhere civilization could possibly keep a boy. And nothing. But he would not give up.

The captain sat back on his chair, removing his hook.

As he did, he saw something flying through the small gap in his open window.

A bird? He wondered, standing up.

No. It had fallen on his desk, lying completely still. A note.

He reached out to hold it up. It was a folded note, covered in some sort of dust.

Pixie dust.

He recognised it as such. And he knew only one person who possessed pixie dust.

Hook opened the note, and read the message within.

Mya's P.O.V

I stormed back to camp where Peter was sitting beside Felix, they were murmuring to each other quietly.

"We need to talk." I basically ordered, stopping directly in front of Peter, who I knew had noticed my arrival but pretended not to.

He glanced upwards at me, raising an eyebrow. This pissed me off even more. Why did he always have to raise that stupid eyebrow of his?

He sighed heavily. "Can't you see I'm busy right now?"

"Oh, right, I wouldn't want to interrupt one of your illuminating conversations on who's life you're going to ruin next." I faked a smile. "Wait, let me guess, it's that kid who's heart you need to tear out, am I right?"

Peter didn't look shocked or surprised by my detection. In fact, his face only showed complete and utter boredom. "I see you figured it out."

"Of course I did." It took me about five hours, but that wasn't worth mentioning.

He grinned. "Well, my compliments. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to return to the conversation you so rudely interrupted." Not that there was much to continue since Felix was no longer next to him. I didn't even seen him leave.

I had to stop my mouth from hanging down wide open at his remark. "That's it?"

"What were you expecting? A round of applause?" He raised his eyebrow, again. "Sorry to disappoint you but that was a kindergarten level discovery."

I ignored his kindergarten level insult. "I was expecting you to tell me about my father."

"He's a one-handed pirate with a drinking problem. What's to tell?" I was really close to slapping him.

"Why did you tell me he wouldn't return?" I inquired, trying to keep my cool. It wasn't easy. He made me so cranky.

He shrugged. "Maybe he doesn't care enough about you." Liar.

I scoffed. "My father loves me. He'd never leave me here, with you." I emphasized the last word. Making it sting.

"What's that supposed to mean?" He stood up so we were face to face.

"It means you're a monster. You don't care about anybody but yourself and no one in their right mind would ever want to be around you!" Wow. Where did that come from?

I thought I saw hurt in his eyes for a split second there, but it quickly replaced itself with that typical smug look of his.

"Really? So you're obviously not in your right mind since you didn't seem to mind being around me lately." He took a warning step closer.

"I always mind being around you." I snapped harshly.

He smirked. My words didn't seem to have any effect on him. Or maybe he was just covering it up. "You've never been a good liar."

"I'm not lying." I said in complete seriousness. I didn't even brag about my amazing lying skills.

"I don't believe you." He took another step towards me. I stepped backwards, trying to keep my distance.

"I honestly don't care. I know the truth." I informed him.

"Do you?" He quirked an eyebrow. "Because it seems to me that you're just lying to yourself." He was still moving closer. I was pretty sure I was running out of space behind me. My suspicions were confirmed when my back hit a tree. Crap.

"How could I? I'm not a good liar, remember?" Ha. Used his own insult against him. I mentally patted myself on the back.

"And precisely for that reason, you know you're lying to yourself as well." He was inches away from me now. I could feel him breathing.

His closeness was intoxicating. I could barely think straight. "Fine." Scratch that. I couldn't think straight.

Now he was surprised. "Fine?"

"Yes, fine. You win. I don't mind being around you. I actually like it. I like the person you are when we're together but that lasts for about five seconds and then you return to being an obnoxious pain in the ass who goes off making everybody else's lives miserable." I replied honestly. "And that person, I really do hate."

I avoided his stare, though I could feel it boring through me. Minutes passed before he said anything. Minutes that seemed like hours.

"They're the same person." That was what he replied. I admit I was expecting a little more. But then again, this was Peter.

I looked up at him. "They don't have to be."

I wasn't quite sure why I did what I did after that.

I leaned forwards and pressed my lips against his. They were firm at first, unyielding. But they softened as he returned the kiss, moving his arms around my back. My pulse was rising. I could feel it. I was aware of every single place were my body was touching his. Each one sending jolts up my spine.

My arms went round his neck as I pulled him closer. If that were even possible. He deepened the kiss, and pushed me up against the tree, his hands moved from my back to my legs, lifting them up so I could wrap them around him.

Third Person

Peter and Mya were locked in an embrace which was abruptly torn apart by the loud noises coming from the Lost Boys, who had started their dancing around the campfire.

"We should go." Peter suggested, unsure of how to act. He had been through plenty of unspeakably dangerous situations and had found himself at ease. And yet, in this one, he had no idea what to do.

Mya nodded and detached her legs from his waist. "Yeah." She had never been the speechless type either.

And to witness this whole affair, was a Lost Boy, who had been sitting behind a nearby tree.

Felix.

Man, Felix is such a stalker... haha :D I know it's kinda creepy but there was a point to him being there ;)

THEY KISSED! DUNN DUNN.. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NOW? Will everything change or will they just pretend it never happened?
