Chapter 28: Facing The Truth

Mya's P.O.V

I hated crying. Especially when I was crying because of him.

Wiping the dried teardrops off my face, I stood up and exited the tree trunk. It was nighttime. There was no one around, and the lost boys were all sleeping. Including the one that was supposed to be looking out for me.

This was my chance.

…To… Err… Do something?

Okay. I had no idea what I wanted to do. But I surely wasn't going to sit in that room and ponder over life's purpose. I wanted to find my father, as impossible as that was going to be.

I started tip-toeing further away from the camp, trying to make no sound whatsoever. If the lost boys woke up, I was dead. Not that it mattered. I had nothing left to loose right now.

As I was officially out of the camp, I started to walk normally when I noticed a dark figure. It sat close to a tree. I frowned, walking towards it. What could it-

"Tinkerbelle?" I exclaimed at the crouched figure before me. She was holding her legs up to her chest, her wrists were tied together and against the tree, rendering her unable to escape, her face looked upwards once I pronounced her name.

"Mya? What are you doing here?" Concern was clear in her features. Her beaten-up features.

"I came for a... walk." Yeah... Nice one, Mya. "But that doesn't matter- What happened to you?" Stupid question. I already knew the answer. "Did Peter do this? Why?"

"Mya, you need to get out of here." Tinkerbelle ignored my questions. "If he finds you here it'll just make things worse for both of us. And right now, you need to be on his good side."

Good side? "...Oops." I pursed my lips. She raised an eyebrow, demanding an explanation.

"What did you do, Mya?" She inquired.

"I may or may not have told him I hated him... and a couple more well-deserved insults." She sighed, looking down. "Let me just highlight the fact they were well-deserved." I pointed out again. I reached towards her and untied the bonds that kept her captive against the tree. "Just look at what he did to you! Or what he did to my father, and what he's going to do now that he came back." I shuddered at the thought.

As Tink's wrists came free, she rubbed them, and started standing up, her head rising again. "Your father returned?"

"Yes." I replied. "I don't know why or how but-"

"I do." She interrupted me. I frowned, confused. "I sent him a message after I overheard a conversation between Pan and Felix. About the boy who's not alive yet."

"Is that why he did this to you?" I asked.

"No, he doesn't know I'm the one who told Hook, but he thinks I'm the one who informed you."

"Well... I feel slightly insulted. Is it so impossible to believe that I could have found out myself?" Little bastard.

"Mya, the point is that he did this for you." Tinkerbelle explained.

"If you're trying to make me feel guilty..."

"I'm not." She assured me. "I'm trying to make you realize that there's a reason why he's doing this. Why he sent your father away and kept you here, why he kept you in the dark of everything so you wouldn't hate him... It all comes down to you."

I did not like where this was going. "So what are you saying?"

"I'm saying that Pan, believe it or not, has feelings for you. He must have."

"He said so." I muttered under my breath. Then, after the look Tink gave me, immediately cursed myself for doing so.

"What?" She demanded an explanation.

"He said he loved me." I looked down at my feet. It felt weird repeating it.

"Wow. I did not know Pan was capable of that." She commented, her thoughts elsewhere.

"Yeah, neither did I. Now can we change subject please?"

"Wait, what did you reply?" ...Um.

"I said that... I hated him." I refused to look at her face while saying this. I new she'd scold me.

"Mya!" She exclaimed. Suspicion confirmed.

"What! It's not like you can just expect me to love him back! He's a monster, Tink. There's enough proof of that to go around." I reminded her.

"I know, but I also know that you lied." I raised my eyebrows. "You don't hate him." She continued. "You hate what he does and that's understandable. But you don't really hate him."

I sighed. "So what? I can learn to hate him in time. And that's all I have: time. Or did you forget that he made sure I could never leave Neverland?"

"He wasn't always a monster." She announced. "When I first arrived in Neverland, he was just a boy. An immortal boy." She continued, "he let me live in the island since I had nowhere else to go."

"I can't believe this... Are you trying to defend him? Seriously? After everything he's done?" I asserted.

"I'm trying to show you that he's not irredeemable. Everyone can be redeemed. And you can help him. You can save him." I shook my head at her statements and looked away. Peter wasn't redeemable. And I certainly could do nothing about it. Nor did I want to.

"I doubt that. And why would I? I have no reason to-" She spoke before I could continue.

"How about getting home?" She offered. And now, I did look at her.

"He'd never allow that." I stated.

"If he truly loves you, he will. He'll let you go." Tink seemed so certain it was hard not to believe her. "It will surprise you to see what love can do to a person, how it can change them."

"What if I don't love him?" I asked. At this point, I had no idea what I felt. Tink was really screwing with my brain.

She smiled at me. "Come, let me show you something."

Third Person

Hook had been roaming through the island for a long time. He wasn't sure how long of course. Time wasn't the same in Neverland.

It had been months, however, since he stepped on its soil. But his memory of the place hadn't vanished. However, once he reached the exact spot in which he was certain to have found the camp the previous time, he found it was empty.

"Did you really think it would be that easy?" No need to turn around. Hook already knew the owner of the voice.

"Did you really think you could get rid of me?" Now, he turned around.

Pan smirked. "Honestly, yes." He stepped towards the pirate. "And it would have worked if that fairy didn't inform you of the… issue."

"Issue? Is that what you call it? Sending me on a never-ending search for a boy who hasn't been born yet!" Hook cried, raising is voice. Then he frowned, reflecting on another thing the boy had said. "How did you know it was Tinkerbelle?"

"I put two and two together. Why else would you be here?" Peter explained.

"For my daughter." Hook remarked. "You should have expected I'd return for her. Give her back."

"Oh, I can't." Pan grinned. "You see, our deal was an exchange. And you have nothing to exchange her with."

"Pan-" Hook started, his tone dead serious, but the boy interrupted him.

"You better return to your ship, pirate. I'm aware that you have another magic bean at your disposal. You might as well use it now. Because you not getting your daughter back anytime soon." And with that, he disappeared into the darkness of the forest.

So... the camp moved, Peter is preventing Hook from seeing Mya and what does Tink want to show her? *cliffhanger*
