Chapter 37: The Deal Still Stands

Third Person

Once the lost boys left the ship unsatisfied, Hook hurried back to Bae's cabin.

"Are they gone?" Baelfire asked, coming out of his hiding place. Hook admired the boy's wit, he had hidden underneath the floorboards of the cabin.

"Yes." The pirate confirmed, lending the boy a hand, which he took. "My compliments, you were bright to hide under there." He gestured towards the floorboards.

Bae shrugged. "It was the only place I could think of where they wouldn't find me." He then frowned. "Why do they want me?"

Hook sighed. Truth was, he didn't know. He knew who the boy was, did Pan know too? Was he trying to get a rise out of him? Tempt him to take his revenge on the boy to get Mya on his side? That wasn't going to happen. Pan wasn't going to win this time. "The shadow wants Lost Boys. But usually they're willing." That wasn't exactly a lie.

"I didn't want to come here. I was just trying to save my friends." Bae insisted.

"Everything has a price, boy." Hook placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. "But I shall not let him take you."

"But that's not up to you, is it?"

Hook pursed his lips at the sound of his voice. "Let the boy be." He demanded. "He means nothing to you."

"And he means something to you?" Pan scoffed. "We both know you don't care about him. All you care about is revenge." He knew. Of course he knew.

"Revenge against you." Hook precised.

Pan smirked. "Not just me." He glanced at the boy, setting his eyes on him for the first time. He knew right away the boy wasn't the one he needed. He had that boy's face memorized. But he knew this boy was his most recent ancestor. And had come to discover that's not all he was: the Dark One's son.

"What is he talking about?" The boy asked, glaring back and forth between Pan and Hook. "Who is he?"

The pirate ignored Bae's questions. "You know nothing of me." He spat at Peter.

"I know more than enough." Pan grinned, edging closer. "And I know you're always willing to make a deal if it serves to your advantage."

Hook shook his head. "Not anymore."

Pan raised an eyebrow. "Not even if you gained your freedom from it?"

"No." The pirate stated, pulling Baelfire behind him, to shield the boy.

"You didn't let me finish." Pan crossed his arms, feigning to be offended. "What if I sweetened the deal? Not only will I give you your freedom, a passage off the island, but Mya's freedom as well."

Hook looked at him now, narrowing his eyes, detecting any signs of humour. That's what it had to be after all. Humour. There was no way, after all this effort to keep Mya, Pan would just let her go for this boy. It wasn't possible. But there was no trace of humour in Peter's face.

It must be a deceiving lie then. "You're lying."

Pan placed a hand on his heart, the other in the air. "You have my word."

"Your word means nothing." Hook said. "I trusted your word once before when we struck a deal. And you didn't maintain it."

"Oh but I did." Peter smirked. "The deal still stands, I sent you to find something which, yes, was impossible to find. But you now posses the next best thing." He gestured to Baelfire, who was frowning at their every word, utterly perplexed. "Hand me the boy and I shall grant you what I promised once before."

"You'll cure Mya? Let here leave after all you've done to keep her?" Hook inquired, unconvinced.

Peter nodded.

The pirated eyebrow's furrowed. "Why?" Pan's promise left him flummoxed. He couldn't comprehend the reason for all this. And why was Baelfire so important if he wasn't the boy Pan was looking for?

Peter shrugged. "She's no longer needed here."

"And why's that?" Hook asked again. "As much as I prayed for it not to be true I know something happened between the two of you. How can you be so amenable to free her?"

"I had my fun. Now I'm bored." Pan replied sourly. "Is that what you want to hear?"

A cough broke the silence between the pirate and Peter, provoking them both to turn around.

Fair enough, Mya was standing there, at the entrance of the cabin, staring down at the immortal boy with such intensity Baelfire thought she'd set him on fire.

Peter, as much as he tried to, couldn't avoid her glare. If she had been angry with him before, she was pissed now. He cursed himself for not thinking it through. Of course she would have returned to the ship. But he had not expected her to be so fast.

Mya's P.O.V.

I wanted to hit him. So badly. I clenched my fists. I felt the anger boil all over me.

How could he? How could he say that he had his fun and he was bored of me now? Did he mean it?

I had so many questions but I said nothing. I just looked daggers at him.

And all he did was stare back.

"What's going on?" Bae's small voice brought me back to reality; the cold reality of the situation.

I moved past Peter and stood besides the boy. "Everything is going to be alright Bae." I put a hand on his shoulder, then looked back at Peter. "You're not getting anywhere near him."

Peter cleared his throat. "I didn't come here to speak to you." His voice was distant.

"Clearly." I scowled. "But as if turns out, I'm here. And no matter what my father says, I made a promise to this boy that I'd reunite him to his family. And I will keep my promise."

"Your opinion on this is irrelevant." He barked. "It's your father's deal. Not yours. And this deal satisfies all his requests. And it should satisfy yours too."

"How so?" I raised my eyebrows. I hadn't arrived in time to hear of this 'deal'. I only heard the part where he dismissed any feelings he could possibly have towards me. Excellent timing I'd say. And to think I was considering on giving him a second, well, billionth, chance.

"You'll be free to leave Neverland with your father. And never have to see me again." He explained the terms.

I didn't know if I should start jumping in glee or cry in melancholy. "You think that's what I want?" My voice cracked. After everything we've been through, how could he possibly think the thought of never seeing him again could please me? Taking right now out of context. Everything word he uttered made me appreciate this deal even more.

"Isn't it?" He raised an eyebrow. "Would you rather stay here forever? We both know I'll take the boy either way. You might even consider this a very generous favour on my part."

"You don't do favours." I spat.

"I make an exception." He replied.

"What if I refused?" I asked. "What if I liked it here in Neverland?" I was going to play my last card, setting my proudness aside. "What if I wanted to stay here with you?"

Peter frowned, baffled for the first time. "Even after all I said?"

I took a step closer. "Even after all you said."

"I wasn't lying." He warned me.

I shrugged. "It doesn't matter."

"Mya-" I heard my father's worried voice from behind me.

"I choose you." I continued, not tearing my gaze off Peter. "I'm staying."

Peter you lil shit.

Remember when I was contemplating the idea of him becoming nice? Yeah.. not happening... Lol.

I just can't picture Peter not Peter. He's Peter. Deal with his Peter-ness.
