hi.
Chapter 38: Side Stepping
Mya's P.O.V
So maybe this wasn't the best idea. But it was the only one I could come up with on such short notice... No judging.
All I knew was that giving him Baelfire equalled leaving. So not leaving automatically meant him not getting Baelfire... right?
Peter didn't smirk at my words, as predicted, but he merely eyed me, probably wondering why I would choose him over getting the hell out of here.
I had my reasons. And as much as I wanted to deny it, not having to leave Peter forever was one of them. It annoyed me how after all he had said and done he still had the power to make me care for him. Stupid Peter.
"You might want to think this through." He suggested.
"Why?" I raised my eyebrows at him. "Don't you want me around anymore? Are you bored of me?" I mocked his words. I couldn't read minds (...yet) but I knew he was lying. He did care for me as well. At least that's what Tink told me. She better not have been lying. Or this would turn into a really awkward scenario in no time…
But then again, Tinkerbelle also warned me it wouldn't be easy. The fact he's trying to get rid of me probably means I'm doing something right, as messed up as that sounds.
Peter grinned. "As you wish." And with that, he snapped his fingers and a cloud of green dust surrounded me.
When my vision was cleared, I was no longer on the ship. I was at the camp.
Crap.
Third Person
"Where is she?" Hook demanded when his daughter disappeared right before his eyes.
"Where she chose to be." Pan replied, smirking. His gaze then drifted to Baelfire. "And you can join her." He snapped his fingers before Hook could complain.
"No!" The pirate cried. In barely a full minute, he had failed to protect both his daughter and the boy. And that was all because of Pan's damned magic. "If you had only accepted the deal, you'd have your daughter and a passage off the island." Hook looked down as Peter feigned disappointment. "Now, you have nothing."
The pirate didn't need to look glance up to know the boy was gone, in a puff of green smoke, like the rest.
Mya's P.O.V.
I was about to curse in anger, literally, mouth open and all, when Baelfire appeared before me.
Good news, I could protect Bae if he was with me. Bad news, I couldn't swear with him around.
"Are you okay?" I ran towards him, concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's not the first time I've encountered magic." He nodded, but I could tell he was shaken up. "What does he want?"
I didn't know. Why didn't I know? Peter never told me anything! This was so annoying. "No clue." I admitted. But whatever it was, it was most likely shady and creepy and mentally disturbing. I didn't seem fit to mention that though. "But it doesn't matter. I won't let him hurt you. I meant what I said, Bae. You'll return home safe and sound. I promise."
"Hasn't anyone told you not to make promises you can't keep?" I jumped at the voice I recognised all too well.
"Urgh. Will you stop startling me like that?" I crossed my arms. "It's not polite." I scolded him.
He grinned. "Being polite isn't exactly my aim."
"Oh right, that was being a massive asshole." I taunted him. "Well congratulations. You succeeded."
"And then you wonder why I don't want you around anymore. Your attitude certainly justifies my decision." He replied.
"Ha." I laughed humourlessly. "Maybe if you didn't instigate such attitude with your asshole-ness we wouldn't have this problem."
"Well maybe-"
Peter's remark was cut short by Baelfire. "Can you two stop arguing?" He demanded, standing between Peter and I.
I suppressed the rest of my witty comebacks, and it was hard since they were all awesome, and nodded. "You're right Bae." I glanced at Peter. "We'll return to this later." I challenged. There was no way I was going to let all those epic remarks go to waste. Peter replied with his signature smirk. "There's a more pressing matter to discuss now: why do you want Baelfire?"
"He's a Lost Boy." He replied simply. "Like me. Like you."
Not this again… "I thought we went through this already. I'm not a Lost Girl." I emphasised. "And neither is Baelfire. A lost boy, I mean. Not a lost girl. Because he's not a girl… so obviously-"
"Are you trying to irritate me to death? Because it's working." Peter snapped sarcastically.
"Good." I flashed him a smile.
"What if I don't want to be a Lost Boy?" Bae asked Peter directly.
"You don't really have a choice on the matter." Peter responded.
"Unless you bore him enough that he begs your own father to take you away." I suggested.
"So my words did hurt you." Peter smirked at me. "Then why did you still choose to come back?"
"Well, for one, the food is much better here." Definitely not a lie, and as proof, I believed in a slice of pumpkin pie, which appeared immediately in the palm of my hand.
"That's not it." He dismissed. Who the hell was he to say it wasn't?
"Also the part where I never die… That's pretty inviting." I admitted thoughtfully.
"Not it." Peter took a step towards me, causing Baelfire to step aside.
"The amazing dancing shows you put on are very entertaining." I was running out of excuses. Big time.
"I thought you despised them." He narrowed his eyes at me.
"Pfft… No." I denied. "They're awesome."
"If you feel that way, I can't wait to see you join the boys around the campfire tonight." Oh good God… He got me there.
"Dancing?" Baelfire frowned.
Peter turned to the boy again. "I believe you'll enjoy yourself very much here, Baelfire. Now, let's go introduce you to the other Lost Boys." They were kind words, but spoken by Peter they sounded more like death threats.
As Bae was led towards the centre of the camp, he glanced back and gave me 'help' look.
I nodded. This boy was getting out of here, even if I had to go through Peter himself.
…Though side stepping him felt like a much better plan.
Yes, I side step around people. PROBLEM? lol.
Okay so I had a little re-read of the first chapters and I miss Peter/Mya bickering so I tried to recreate it here... did I fail miserably? Probably yes. But I tried. That's what matters.
