Chapter 39: The More The Merrier

Mya's P.O.V

As night fell, the bonfire started, and my idiotic lie caught up to me.

What the hell was I thinking?

"Ready to dance?" Peter asked, coming towards me.

I was sitting on a horizontal tree trunk, holding my head up with both my hands, contemplating on how to avoid this predicament.

Cutting off my legs was starting to sound like a good idea.

…My standards of a 'good idea' were sinking very low.

"Actually… I have a severe case of pins and needles." Much better idea. "So I'm afraid I'll have to sit this one out."

"Oh it's no problem." Peter smirk. I didn't like that smirk. "I can get rid of them."

As he lifted his hand up, ready to cure the inexistent pins and needles from my legs, I slapped it away. He raised an inquisitive eyebrow at me.

"You can't." I informed him, not quite sure what I was going to say next. "I'm… um… allergic to… magic…?" Where had my brilliant lying skills gone?

"After all this time, your lying still hasn't ameliorated." Peter laughed at me. "In fact, it has probably worsened."

"…Shut up." I snarled. "Not everyone can practice everyday to perfection it, like you." Check and mate.

"I haven't lied." He lied. Little shit-head.

"You literally just did." I pointed out.

"So tell me then." He challenged. "When have I lied?"

"On the ship." I replied simply. "When you said you were bored of me."

"What? Your pride couldn't take the blow?" He grinned.

"I know it was a lie, Peter." I stood up from where I sat, so we were face to face. "You wanted to send me away because you were scared."

"Scared?" He laughed. "I'm not scared of anything."

"Then admit it!" I exclaimed. "Admit that you still have feelings for me, and that's why you wanted me gone."

He stared down at me. And it took a lot of restrain not to look down at my feet.

"No." No he didn't have feelings for me or no he wasn't going to admit it? Neither one was satisfying.

"Fine then." I stood up so we were face to face. "Keep living in denial land." And with that, I stormed off.

It would have been a pretty dramatic and awesome exit if he hadn't called out: "Didn't you have pins and needles?"

I soon realized I had nowhere to angrily storm off to. I set off to find Bae, which didn't take long since he had joined all the boys in those stupid dances around the campfire. He looked happy, clearly enjoy himself.

Oh well.

"Bae!" I hauled him away from the dancing boys, pulling at his ear. "What the hell are you doing?" Yes, yes, I'm a horrible person for not letting him have some fun, but I dreaded the thought of him turning into one of them… Dancing puppets. They were controlled by Peter in everything they did. Even dancing!

"I thought I'd blend in, make my being part of them seem more realistic." I let go of his ear.

"Huh. Good plan." I complimented him. "Sorry about your ear."

"It's fine." He said as he rubbed it.

"Okay, we need to establish a quick and effective plan to get you out of here." I stated, getting down to business. Baelfire nodded. "Any ideas?"

"I thought you'd have some." He said.

"…Great." If we were relying on my escape plans, we weren't going anywhere. "You said you'd help me." Bae insisted.

"Hey, you're the one who had the genius idea to follow an evil shadow here so-" A light bulb lit in my brain. "Wait. I just got an idea." Baelfire listened attentively. "The shadow took you here… maybe it can take you back."

"How?"

"Well I can't think of everything can I?" Geesh. "But I know someone who can help. Do you think you can get out of camp before sunrise?"

"I think so."

"Perfect. We'll meet at the beach in front of the Jolly Roger."

Once we agreed on the rest of our (but mostly my) magnificent plan, Baelfire returned to his dancing and I headed off to get some rest. I felt as though I hadn't slept in ages. Arguing with a dickhead, teenage, immortal boy and later discussing a brilliantly epic escape plan will do that to you.

Since there was no way I was sleeping on the damp ground, I entered Peter's tree trunk and walked straight to that very inviting hammock. But before I had a chance to lie down, I noticed a familiar object in sight: the anchor pendant.

I vividly remembered throwing that away. How did Peter find it? Scratch that, stupid question. More like, why did he keep it?

I guess this was proof he still cared. I had a strong desire to go rub it in his face, but I was too lazy to actually go out and tell him. I decided to situate myself on the hammock, which led to inevitably falling asleep.

Third Person

Peter played his pipe as the boys danced, including Baelfire, who seemed to be getting along with them just fine. And Peter had great plans for him. Soon the boy would forget all about his new family, and his old one. The Lost Boys would become his only family.

"The Shadow's gone." Felix informed him, entering the circle the boys had created around the bonfire.

Pan stopped playing his pipe. "As always." He commented, bored. "It must have found a new recruit."

"Don't we have enough new recruits already?" The Lost Boy pointed out, voluntarily glancing at Baelfire.

Peter smirked. "The more the merrier."

Felix nodded, returning to his usual position; sitting alone and watching the rest of the boys have fun. Like Mya, he didn't enjoy dancing.

This reminded Peter of the girl. Where was she?

He knew she wouldn't have left camp, so there was really only one place she could be.

His suspicions were confirmed when he found her peacefully sleeping in his hammock. That wasn't going to last long.

"Wake up." He ordered. But that only made her turn to face the opposite direction. "Mya!" He shouted, moving closer to her. Nothing.

He sighed. "I guess I'll have to do this my way." He placed a hand underneath the hammock and flipped it around, causing the girl to fall on the ground.

Mya's P.O.V.

There's nothing better than being waken up by having your 'bed' flipped on you.

Right?

No. Not right.

"Ouch." I commented, standing up while rubbing all the injured parts of my body.

"Serves you right for not answering the previous times I tried to wake you." Peter shrugged, taking a bite out of an apple. Where the hell did he get an apple?

Oh, right… the believing thing.

"Well sorry if I was asleep." I barked.

"No one gave you permission to be." He remarked.

"…Seriously? Now I need your permission to fall asleep?" I raised my eyebrows.

"I would have given it to you, had you asked."

"I was too busy being pissed at you." I retorted.

"Ah, right. Let's see how long you'll last this time." He flashed me a smile.

"Excuse me?" I'll take that as an insult. "Are you saying I'm not capable of staying angry at you?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying." He took another bite from his apple.

"Challenge accepted then." I crossed my arms. "And you waking me up for no reason really helps."

"I had a reason."

"Please enlighten me."

"It's daytime." He pointed out.

What? There was no way it was day already. I couldn't have possibly slept for more than a couple hours. "That's impossible."

"Go see for yourself." He gestured for me to exit the tree trunk.

And fair enough, the sun was shining in the sky. And crap, I was supposed to meet Baelfire by the beach. It didn't make sense that time had passed so quickly…

"You just changed the time didn't you?" I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously.

"Guilty." He winked, and was about to bite his apple again when poof, it disappeared.

I smirked. You could believe for things to appear, but apparently you could make them disappear just as easily.

He scowled at me. "I was eating that."

"Oops." I grinned, feeling no remorse whatsoever. "Well, this conversation has been scintillating. Got to go now. Bye." And with that, I ran out to meet Baelfire by the beach, hoping I wasn't too late.

Third Person

In the dead of night, once everyone was asleep, the girl rose from her bed and rushed to the window.

She was nervous, and yet determined. She knew what she had to do.

Staring through the window, she spoke, her voice trembling. "I believe."

As she said that, she heard someone shuffling under the covers behind her. "Wendy?" She recognized her younger brother's tired voice.

"Go back to sleep, Michael." She dismissed him, but this woke up her other brother too.

"What's going on?" John exclaimed, seeing Wendy crouched in front of the window. He put two and two together. "You didn't…"

Wendy pursed her lips. "I must."

Wind blew the window open, causing the girl to fall back. From the opening entered the shadow, the same shadow that had taken Bae to Neverland. And it was all her fault.

It hovered above her, offering her its hand. She took it.

"Wendy, no!" John and Michael cried, trying to reach their sister, but the strong wind pulled them back.

"I have to find Bae." She told them, right before the shadow hauled her away to Neverland.

Wendy wtf is wrong with you? WHY WOULD YOU GO BACK? I will never understand... I mean I get it, she wanted to go save Bae but still. Get your priorities in order. You caused problems the first time you went to Neverland, you go back again what do you think is gonna happen?

...stupid. I had to include her to stay true to the main plot, which I'm trying to do.
