29. Snatched Away

She could snatch him away
from anything. The smoke
that reached out to burn his eyes
until they stung, or the fire
that burnt away his skin
into ash

And he could grab her hand
when she floated
like a daffodil in the wind
astray,
and hold her tight

So that she melted into his embrace
without the need to float
off the ground.

She could stand on her two feet for him
and he could come out for her,
under her cloak
where the curtain of sunshine hair
kept away the smoke

And they could walk hand in hand together
towards no end.
