Chapter 11

Jacob:

Even though I was hovering near unconsciousness, I could still hear. I felt myself being dragged down into a lift bay and then I heard the chains. It was a long time before I gained some coherence and I heard a female voice, rather high pitched. I opened my eyes and it took a few seconds to focus on who was speaking. I was dizzy and disorientedand having a really hard time thinking clearly. My mind was clouded in a fog.

Victoria was standing in front of me baring her teeth in that deadly smile; uncomfortably familiar.

"Nice of you to join me! I was afraid I had killed you too soon!"

"What the hell do you want Victoria? Edward's nowhere around. What could you possibly want with me?"

"You have something I want!"

"Really? And what would that be?"

"Edwards MATE!"

"Well then you'll be disappointed to know that Edward doesn't have a mate anymore!"

"You LIE!"

"Do you think? Bella hasn't been with Edward since he left her. He broke up with her and his whole family left with him, they haven't been back since!"

"Well then, this complicates things."

"Why? You can just leave and no one will follow you."

"No! I can still get what I want. If I can't have Edward's mate then I will take you in her place. That will hurt her and if she's hurting, then Edward will hurt! I like it!"

"Always such a bitch, Vicki. If you kill me there will be no safe place where you can hide from my Tribe. They will find you! No matter where you go you will be hunted and eventually destroyed, I can promise you that!"

"I will have my revenge!"

"You won't win!"

"Oh no? Let me tell you something handsome. I wouldn't be too sure if I were you. You see we have plenty of time to get to know each other and I am looking forward to it, aren't you?"

"Fuck you, you demented bitch!"

"Tsk, tsk, my love, you will soon see that I always get what I want and right now I want to see why she is so into you."

"Aw, is Bella's little plaything uncomfortable? Maybe if we undo a few of these buttons you will feel better, hmm baby?"

Victoria:

I had been watching Edward's mate for quite some time now; waiting for the right moment to strike and take what I want. I had paid no attention to her little friend, but I have to admit the male she is with now is quite alluring and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on that hot body. He actually makes James look pretty scrawny and a lame excuse for a man.

What did I ever see in him anyway? I could have had a fine male like this a long time ago but no matter. I've got him now and I will play with him until he either fails to hold my interest or I lose my temper and patience; and then it's dinner time. I wonder if I should turn him and take him as my new mate? Hmmm..decisions, decisions.

I walked over to the male I'd heard the Swan girl call Jacob and sniffed his hair. He smelled like the ocean and forest mixed together; so mouth watering that I had to taste a little of him. He squirmed on the ground trying in vain to escape me. The chains that bound him to the wall were snug and secure and I straddled his hips and sat down on his thighs. They were solid muscle and I loved sitting on him.

I wish he wouldn't fight me but if I released him he might escape and I'm not done with him yet. I touched his face and he jerked away so I grabbed a handful of his hair and pulled his face back to mine. He growled at me. Hmm..interesting.

I slammed his head against the wall and smashed my lips against his. As I was kissing him he tried to fight me but at the moment I was the strong one. I forced my tongue into his mouth and pulled his head backward to keep his mouth open enough so he couldn't bite me and hurt himself. Humans are a weak species normally, but not this one. The fight he was putting up was beginning to excite me a little.

He tasted so yummy and I was determined to get my fill before I chose whether to end his life or extend it indefinitely. With one had holding his head where I wanted it, my other roamed his body.

I started at his shoulders; so strong and virile, then I squeezed his biceps and forearms, pulling a little gasp from his luscious mouth.

"Mmm, very nice!"

"Fuck you!" he spat at me but before he could speak again I silenced him by shoving my tongue back between his full, pouty lips. I moved my hand to his chest and smoothed my fingertips across his pecs. Oooh, very solid.

Moving along down to his stomach and; what's this? an eight pack?! Oh, damn! I wanted to fuck him so badly right then but there was still more to this man that needed discovering and his wriggling under my thighs was getting serious. Still sliding my hands lower, I felt his thighs. They were solid muscle as well. How does a man get to be this well built?

Wondering if everything on this gorgeous specimen was equally well formed; I decided to move my way back up his legs to a spot I had missed. I slid my hand between us and started rubbing him through his jeans. He hissed at me me and tried to twist free of me but it wasn't going to happen. I broke the kiss to speak to him and he was panting so hard for air.

"No! I like the effect I'm having on you at the moment and I will get what I want from you!"

He tried to scream and I clamped my hand hard over his mouth to silence him while I worked his dick to life. I rubbed him slowly at first while his body betrayed him, his breaths becoming ragged as he moaned unwillingly. I may be a dead vampire; but when I was alive I was very good at making men cum and getting them to give me their bodies. Alice:

I was talking to Carlisle and Esme when I had a vision. I saw Victoria in a garage laughing sadistically and then the vision got blurry. I saw Bella in agony but she was rather blurred too. I told them what I had seen and Carlisle asked if I could see where Victoria was.

"It looks like she was just outside of La Push at some sort of garage. There's a sign that says Black's Automotive," I said.

What was she doing there and why was she right at the treaty line? I sat there a few minutes trying to see her when finally, her decision came to me.

"She has decided to kill Jacob Black because she couldn't kill Bella to avenge James' death. She thinks by killing her native friend she will hurt Bella and therefore hurt Edward with the pain Bella will feel. Her plans for the boy are sickening and we need to stop her before she can turn him! Either way she decides to go, he's dead if we can't get there in time. He won't survive the venom and she is oblivious to what he really is. She is blinded by his human beauty and wants to mate with him!"

"Call Edward, Alice! We are all going back to Forks right now!"

I called my brother and told him what was going on. He said he was not far from us and would meet us at the treaty line close to the garage in twenty minutes. He had sensed that something was wrong.

"Carlisle? What are we going to do to stop her? Because she chose to attack at the border, we AND the wolves can save him. There's a risk of danger interacting that closely with the Pack without speaking with their leaders first."

"I will go call the Pack. I will need Edward to go to the garage and distract Victoria. Call him back now. And Alice, I want you and Jasper to go to Bella and keep her safe! If we hurry, Victoria won't be able to take another inocent life!"

We split up; Rose, Emmett and Esme moving to surround the garage. Jasper and I went to Bella's house where we found Charlie alone. He said she no longer lived with him, that she now resided on the reservation with Jacob. He told us that Bella and Jacob were expecting twins and had decided to raise their children together.

"Charlie, do you think you can get us permission to enter the reservation?"

"Why would I need to do that?"

"I just need to speak with Bella." It wasn't actually a lie, just not the entire truth of the situation.

He called Billy and let him know that the Cullens needed to speak with Bella and that it was very urgent. Billy granted permission so we bid Charlie a goodnight and went to meet Carlisle at the treaty line.

"We've been expecting you. Billy and the other Elders are waiting for you in the circle," Sam said.

"We wouldn't have come if a member of your tribe weren't in danger from another vampire outside of our family."

Sam:

I took Carlisle, Alice and Jasper to the circle of Elders who wanted to know why the cold ones wanted to speak to them. Something was very wrong with this meeting. I could feel it and I didn't like it one damn bit. I made sure members of the Pack were around and accessible in case we needed them.

I put Quil and Embry on patrol around Jake's house while he was at work. He hadn't returned home but they reported in to say he said he was reorganizing some stuff before he would leave the shop to head home for the night. I still had this nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach, that a member of my Pack was in trouble and I was proven right with the words that he uttered to answer Billy's first question.

"Carlisle? What brings you to our land?"

"I am concerned for your son and Bella's safety."

"My son? Why? Where is Jacob?"

"Is Bella here?"

"She's at her home that she shares with Jake! He should be there with her any minute."

"I'm afraid not Billy. Jacob is in grave danger. Victoria has him and she plans on killing him instead of Bella. She thinks that if she kills him it will bring Bella great pain and through that pain, she can hurt Edward. Billy, we have all kept the treaty out of mutual respect. I am asking you now to lift it in order to protect Jacob and Bella as well as their children."

"Very well Carlisle, we will work together and save my son and his family. Thank you for coming to us. I will allow Alice and Jasper to protect Bella and the babies. Jared show them where the cabin is and have Paul help you guard them. Seth, you patrol the area by the cabin; I want a wolf at the front and back doors. Sam, can Quil and Embry go with you?"

"Of course, Billy. Q, Em, let's go."

Carlisle:

We ran as fast as we could to meet up with the rest of my family. Edward was sneaking inside the garage when we got there. I told the rest to be ready. We could hear Victoria ranting and raving inside; something about having Jacob as her mate. She was slowly reaching her breaking point which is a very dangerous frame of mind for a human drinker.

"I think I will win, you see Jacob? I have been watching you two from the shadows. I've seen you together and I know how much you both love each other. I had a love like that once and Edward took his life to save hers! So no matter which way this turns out I will win. Let me show you how."

I watched through a side window while Victoria circled Jacob, running her fingers over the skin on his neck, licking her lips as she moved in closer to him. It appeared she planned on playing with him, slowly building the torture until she was ready for the kill. If we didn't handle this right, Jacob would die.

"Mmmm, you smell delicious. I will have a taste anyway."

I saw Edward slowly enter from the back; but Victoria could see him if he moved any further and we needed the element of surprise here. She nuzzled Jacob's neck, smelling and licking him, running her tongue over his pulse point and then sucking on his neck; not biting him but trying to seduce him. He was sweating and panting in fear. I could hear his heart rate speed up drastically. If he moved an inch it would be all over and he would die. She kept her hands moving all over his bound body while he sat as still as possible.

I prayed for something to grab her attention so Edward could reach Jacob. Thank goodness for horny vampires. She decided at the last minute to trail her hands and attention down to Jacob's pants as if she planned on having oral sex with him and it worked long enough for Edward to enter unnoticed by either of them. Just as soon as she had the button open on his jeans and was reaching for the zipper. Edward appeared.

"Victoria! STOP!"

She jumped to her feet in a crouch, hissing at him.

"How did you know I was here?"

"My sister told me everything that you were planning. You see Victoria we didn't go far away from Forks in the event that you decided to come back for Bella."

"Great! Another BLOODSUCKER! I am so SCREWED!"

"Jake? We are all here to help you for Bella."

"Is she safe? Does she know what's going on?"

"Bella is safe now and no, she doesn't know what's going on. Alice and Jasper are with her now and so are Paul and Jared. Victoria can't get to her."

Victoria was laughing wickedly now.

"I might still kill her just to watch you scream!"

"I think not Victoria!" I retorted. "Not this time!"

Edward:

I could read Jake's mind, but he was hiding something in his thoughts that he didn't want me to see. He wanted me to distract her just enough and I finally understood what Jacob was willing to die to protect. I let Jacob into my head for the first time. I told him I was going to have Emmett sneak in through the side and let him loose from the chains. Jacob agreed and I let him know that the Pack as well as the rest of my family were surrounding the garage and this time Victoria wouldn't escape.

Jacob told me that he wanted to kill her; not just because he had killed Laurent after we had left Forks, but also because she had outright violated him and his pride and his wolf demanded retribution. Emmett came through a side door not making a sound as he moved quietly up behind Jacob. I kept Victoria focused on me so she didn't see or hear what was going on. Emmett unchained Jacob quietly and Jacob got up off the floor without making a sound.

Jake walked up behind Victoria and threw her across the room. She turned and lunged at Jacob but he phased in a mid-air leap and took her down head first and then tearing her limb from limb. She was dead before she could put up a fight. Jacob was an exceptional fighter and he truly was a force to be reckoned with.

Jacob phased back to his human form while I helped Emmett gather up all of the pieces of Victoria so we could dispose of her. Sam came in to see what had happened. We told him how Jacob had killed her once we had freed him. His Alpha gave him a look of pride and respect.

"Hey Sam, could you get my clothes out of my car?"

"Sure man, where are your keys?"

"In my top desk drawer, thanks."

Sam was back in secounds with Jake's extra set of clothing. Jacob dressed quickly and all of the wolves, as well as the Cullens who were present, carried Victoria's remains into the woods. We piled them up and I walked over to Jacob and handed him a lighter.

"Here, you should do the honors."

Jacob thanked me again and then set Victoria on fire, the flames engulfing her body and bright purple smoke lighting up the night sky. Jake locked up the garage and asked us all to come back home with him to make sure everyone was alright. We all went back to Billy's.

I noticed Jacob keeping his distance a little bit from us. Victoria must have really messed him up on the inside. I hope he can heal and forget what she tried to do to him for his and Bella's sakes. We all agreed to never bring it up unless Jacob wanted to talk about it. I would never wish that on even my worst enemy; to be bound and helpless while a psycho tries to have their way with you. I found a new respect for the wolf at that point and would treat him accordingly. When we reached Billy's house, Jacob opened the door and invited us all inside.

Billy was in the kitchen making coffee when we entered behind Jacob. Jacob sat down on a chair next to his father and Billy looked at his son and wondered what had happened to him. His appearance was really off and so was his body language and I couldn't imagine what Billy might be thinking.

Carlisle checked Jacob for injuries, the only one was on the back of his head from where Victoria had knocked him out. It had already healed up, all that was left was some dried blood in his hair. Other than that he was fine, a little dirty from being drug across the greasy floor but he was alive and well and very anxious to get home to Bella.

"Jacob?"

"Yes, Edward?"

"I wanted to tell you that I know about you and Bella and I am glad that the two of you have each other. You are meant to be together and I was wrong for trying to come between the two of you. I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive me."

"I'm in no position to judge anyone at the moment, but I accept your apology and appreciate everything you and your family did for me tonight. As unusual as it sounds, maybe we could be friends?"

"I would like that. We have always respected your tribe and will continue to do so."

Jacob and I became friends that night out of the mutual love and respect we had for Bella.

My family congratulated Jacob on his new family and told Billy and him if they ever needed help of any kind, we would be there to do whatever was asked of us. The treaty hadn't been broken and our families were safe once again. We went to the cabin to let Bella know Jacob was safe and would be along soon after he spoke to his father. Alice told us that Bella didn't know what happened because she fell asleep waiting for Jacob to come home from work. When he arrived Jacob whispered his thanks again and his concern to us.

"Thank you Alice and Jasper for not upsetting Bella. She's too close to delivering and the stress isn't good for her or the babies. I've always liked you Alice because you have always been a good friend to Bella. You can see her anytime you want, ok?"

"Thank you Jacob for not excluding me from her life."

"Edward, I owe you the life of my family and thank you for helping to save me tonight."

"I know you don't like me much but I couldn't let Victoria kill you because it would kill Bella and she has been hurt enough."

"I agree, she's finally healed from the pain you put her through, she has chosen to be my mate for life and I have imprinted on her as well."

"I understand and I will not interfere with your relationship. But if you ever need anything we will all be here when needed. Is that alright with you Jacob?"

"Agreed."

Our family was thanked again for saving their future Alpha and Chief and for bringing him safely back to Bella. We left but decided to remain in Forks for awhile. We kept to our own land and never hunted anywhere near the reservation.

Jacob:

"Sam?"

"Yeah Jake?"

"I still want Quil and Embry to patrol around the cabin until I am certain that the danger has truly passed."

"Sure, I see no problem. We can rotate them out due to work at the garage or if it's really busy we can switch them out with someone else."

"Thanks, sounds good."

Emily and Rachel were always at the house and I wanted them safe as well. All I could really think of now was my family and all I wanted to do was go home to my babies, all three of them. Victoria was dead and couldn't hurt Bella or anyone else for that matter ever again. But she left a mark on me that will take time to remove. We also set up a patrol around the garage as well, I just felt like I'd be off there without knowing one of my packmates was nearby. Some leader I was going to be, skittish to be alone in my own shop.

The Cullens would keep an eye on Charlie from a distance, I went home to clean myself up and to see my Bells. I went into the house quietly and Bella was still asleep. I slipped past her and went into the bathroom to shower. I washed my hair to get the dried blood out of it before Bella could see it and panic. I washed off all of the grease; but during my shower I could still feel Victoria running her fingers down my body which gave me the chills. I could still feel her lips on my neck and it made me cringe. I thought to myself, if there's a higher power up there, please help me to forget and move on.

I rinsed off and wrapped a towel around my waist and went into our bedroom to dress. All I wanted right now was to hold my love in my arms and breathe in her wonderful scent. I went back downstairs to the livingroom and gently woke Bella with a soft kiss on her lips.

"Bella? I'm home honey. Wake up."

"Ooh, Jake? I'm sorry I fell asleep. Did you eat yet? Let me fix you something. Help me up?"

"No, honey, I didn't eat anything yet, I wanted to wait for you to wake up, but you stay put, I can get dinner. Why don't I carry you to bed and you can have dinner there? I'll bring it up to you."

"Sounds good to me Jake. I'm sorry I can't do the things I need to!"

"Don't be silly Bells, you are doing exactly what you need to be doing, resting and taking care of yourself and our children."

"Ok, Jake, I will wait for you and my dinner in bed. Can I have some milk too babe?"

"Sure thing, honey, and Bells?"

"Yeah, Jake?"

"I love you."

"I love you more."

I brought dinner up to my girl and when we were finished I took the dishes down to the kitchen. When I got back she was sound asleep. I stayed up all night just watching her sleep. I wanted to be close to her in case she needed anything. The next morning I got up and made breakfast for her. Before I brought it up to her, I put some wildflowers on the tray with her food.

When I got upstairs she was sitting up in bed with this beautiful smile on her lips. I set the tray on the table next to her and bent down to kiss her gently on the mouth. We ate our breakfest and watched TV then I massaged her feet and rubbed ber back and belly. I even brushed her hair and braided it so it wouldn't knot up when she slept. Bella loved it when I paid attention to the little things that made her happy and I loved every minute I could spend pampering her.

Three weeks had passed now and we were down to our once a week check ups. The doctor decided to do another ultrasound. The babies were starting to drop into the birth canal, which explained why Bella had started feeling pain when she would walk or stand too long. We told the doctor that she was getting very uncomfortable. I waited in the hall while the Doc did a vaginal exam on Bella and she told us that she was dialating already; Bella was at one centimeter. Dr. Angeles said she would see us next week for our second week appointment and told Bella to take it easy and get as much rest as possible while she could. She told me to keep my girl as calm as possible and not to let her overdo it, to put her feet up as much as possible and then she reminded me that twins tend to come early. No pressure! Thanks Doc.

We stopped on our way home to see Charlie, giving him the news about Bella's dialation measurement. I carried Bells in and placed her gently in his recliner. Charlie caught my eye and motioned me to join him in the kitchen. He placed a soothing hand on my shoulder and scanned my face.

"Jake? Are you okay son?"

"Huh? Yeah, sorry Charlie, just a little nervous and scared I guess."

"Well, hey, first time parent, it's okay if you're a little fidgety."

"Yeah, I guess, maybe. But what if I'm a bad father?"

"Don't be silly Jake. You'll be a great dad and I wouldn't want anyone else to be the father of my grandchildren. Bella's right, you know. You'll do just fine, so stop freaking out!"

"Okay Charlie, I'll try to be calm and relax. We should probably get going on home now so Bells can get back into bed."

"Okay, good. Bells, honey, call me if you need anything."

"Okay, Dad I will, I love you."

"I love you too, honey. Bye Jake. I'll see you two soon alright?"

"Sure, Charlie. Sure."

I got Bella into the car and we waved goodbye to Charlie and headed for home. When we got home, Emily and Sam were sitting on the front porch of the cabin waiting for us. We got out of the car and in spite of her protests, I carried Bells into the cabin and up the stairs. Settling her on the bed, I took off her shoes and covered her with a blanket.

"I'm going down to talk to Emily and Sam for a bit, honey. I'll bring you something to drink in a few minutes."

"Sure Jake, I am tired, so I'm gonna take a nap. I love you, baby."

"I love you more."

"Hey Em, Sam, what's up?"

"We came over to check on you two. What did the doctor say?"

"Well Em, Bella's dialated to one centimeter so the doc said she has to take it easy."

"So, how are YOU doing? Since the vamp?"

"Uh, I'd rather not talk about it right now, Sam."

"You need to talk about it Jacob or you'll never deal with it!"

"Just leave it, ok Sam?!"

"Sam's right Jacob, you need to talk to someone about what you're feeling and how to deal with it ok? We only want to help."

"I know Em but I'm not ready to deal with it right now. I've got Bella and the babies to take care of and it can wait for a bit longer."

"Jake, if you want to come and talk to me or Sue even we can be there to listen and help you and Bella through this."

"Bella doesn't know Emily and I would like to keep it like that for now, no stress remember?"

"I thought you told her Jacob?"

"No! Sam I didn't. I couldn't bring myself to tell her what that BITCH did to me ok!"

"Okay man! Calm down or you're going to phase right here and then the whole pack will know alright?"

"Yeah, I know and I'm trying but its not easy to block it out or to keep from phasing. I am fighting the urges to run with the pack."

"You're going to have to phase at some point Jake, maybe I can work out a schedule where you are the only one who is phased for a couple of hours a day, sound good?"

"Yeah, that will work. Thanks Sam, I appreciate it."

"No problem. I won't pretend to know how you feel or what you went through but I hope this will help."

"In time it will Sam."

"I want Emily to stay here with you guys for awhile Jake. She can help with housework and Bella too. That way you can get some sleep I know you desperately need."

"Sure Sam and thank you both for the help."

"No problem. Anytime you need help, all you have to do is ask. We all love you and care about you both. We'll always be here for you."

Sam reached out and clapped a firm hand to my shoulder looking into my eyes to convey his meaning and concern. I took Em's bags into the guest room and she went to unpack. It was good to have someone here to talk to in case I freaked out and what was nice was that Sam wouldn't be far if I needed him. Emily decided to make dinner and I took it up to Bella. She was up and reading a book when I came in with the tray. I told her about our new live-in personal assistant and just as Bella was about to protest, Emily stuck her head in the door.

"Thank you, Emmy. I'm so glad you're here with us."

"You're welcome, Bella. Anytime."

Bella yawned as she finished her dinner and we said our goodnights to Emily. I stayed up all night to watch over Bella because as soon as I fell asleep, I had some freakin' scary dreams. I'm just lucky that I never woke Bella or she would learn my secret. I really didn't like being touched much by others, only my Bells. I just didn't know if she would even want me after what Victoria had done to me.
