Chapter 43: Catch Of The Day
Mya's P.O.V
There was silence between us. And even though he was standing right before me, it seemed as though we were worlds apart.
Peter finally broke the tension. "I'm sorry."
I raised my eyebrows, startled by what he had just said. "What?"
"I'm sorry for what I said." He continued. "It wasn't my intention to hurt you." He looked at me remorsefully.
The temptation to scoff at his every word was present, but somehow I knew he was being honest.
…Or just an exceptional liar.
I glanced away, afraid that I'd give in. And I was enjoying his apology way too much to just end it there.
"Then what was your intention?" It was supposed to come out confidently, but my voice trembled. Damn it. Why did he have this effect on me? Stupid Peter...
He sighed, obviously trying to avoid answering the question, but I stood my ground.
"I wanted you to leave." Well... that hit me pretty hard. First he tells me he wants me to stay, then he tells me he wants me to leave... Boys are confusing as hell.
"Why?" I asked, trying not to sound as broken as I felt.
"Mya-" He started, trying to change the argument.
"Tell me." I demanded, crossing my arms.
"I couldn't have you around anymore." He explained. "You want me to change. You want me to be a better person." ...So? "And I was almost tempted to let Baelfire go because you asked."
"I don't see anything wrong with that." I retorted. "How does keeping Baelfire here benefit you in any way?"
"That's not the point." He shrugged my question off. "I can't be the person you want me to be. If you stay it'll just make it harder on the both of us." I just wanted to let Bae be with his family. Obviously I wouldn't complain if Peter became a little less violent. But I didn't mean to change him. "The offer still stands." At least… I don't think I did.
"I made my choice on that offer a while ago." I reminded him.
"I thought you might have changed your mind." He replied.
"Peter, I don't want to change you." I told him. "You might be an asshole most of the time, and you have some serious anger issues-" Peter gave me a look that suggested me not to continue the long list I had in mind. I skipped to the end of my speech. "But it doesn't matter." I took a step towards him. We were only inches apart now. "I-"
I didn't get to finish my sentence since his lips crashed against mine, prohibiting any words to come out.
I was caught off guard, completely surprised by this outbreak of affection. But I wasn't complaining. I relaxed into the kiss, dropping the coconut that I had been holding on to and wrapping my arms around his neck, as his held onto my waist, pulling me closer.
Third Person
Baelfire ran as fast as his legs would allow him. Occasionally receiving branch-slaps and stepping on mud which splashed right back onto his face. He was following Hook. But mostly, he was running away from the Lost Boys.
Apparently Felix did not appreciate being defeated, and this time, he wasn't taking any chances and brought three other back-ups.
"I don't think I can run much more!" Bae exclaimed, struggling to keep up.
The pirate himself wasn't in such good shape either. "Just a few more miles. We need to get to the beach." He panted.
Mya's P.O.V
Peter pressed me up against a tree behind me and tugged my legs up so I could encircle them around his waist. I was marveled at how kissing him could make me forget about everything; our fight, Neverland, the Lost Boys, my father, Baelfire… the plan.
The plan. Crap.
And that's when I broke the kiss. "I can't do this right now." I ran a hand through my hair, removing it from covering my eyes.
Peter had a puzzled look on his face, which was quickly replaced by a smirk. "Yes you can." And he leaned down to kiss me again.
I had to speak up before he did so, or stopping him would be much harder. "There's… um… something I have to do… urgently." I attempted to make it seem as though I had to pee, without saying it explicitly.
Peter nodded, catching on, and released me from his grip, stepping out of the way.
Thankfully, I was a better liar than he gave me credit for.
I bent down to pick up the nightlight, or coconut, I had previously dropped on the ground. I then turned around, giving him a small smile before disappearing into the woods, and enjoying this last moment when he wasn't seething with anger towards me. And he would be after discovering what I was actually up to.
The time an average person takes to pee is definitely not the amount of time Peter was waiting for me. Oh well.
I felt kind of bad for betraying his trust, but then I reminded myself of all the times he backstabbed me and felt much better.
My mission was to find my father and Bae, but somehow I doubted that would be possible with the island changing and who the hell knows where they'd be hiding anyways. There was only one way to find them. Magic.
And only one person to go to…
"Tink!" I called, once I arrived at her tree house.
"Mya?" The fairy popped her head out of the window. "Where's your father?"
"That's why I'm here. I need to find him…and Bae. But I've no chance in doing that on my own. So…"
"You need magic." I love it when people get straight to the point.
"Yup." I nodded.
Tink sighed. "I take it you didn't get a chance to talk to your father at all then, did you?" I shook my head, frowning. "There is no pixie dust left. Or at least, almost none."
"What?" My jaw dropped. "You're joking right? How do we get the hell out of here?"
"…That's what your father was meant to tell you." She trailed off.
"Well looks like you'll get the honor." I crossed my arms.
"You're not going to leave." She replied, simply. "Not any time soon, anyways."
Well… this was great news.
Third Person
Bae and Hook reached the beach with very little advantage over the Lost Boys. "They're almost here." Hook said, matter-of-factly.
"They'll surround us." Bae realized, glancing around. The only way out was swimming. In a sea full of mermaids and squids… Probably not the best idea.
"Aye." The pirate nodded. "But that doesn't mean they'll catch us both."
Baelfire gave him a questioning look, so the pirate explained further. "I'll distract them, you keep running along the beach until the coast is clear."
"But what about you-" The boy protested.
"I'll be fine. Go." Hook ordered, as the Lost Boys were getting closer. "Now."
Bae left reluctantly, running as fast as he could. Aware that he'd have to be the one to explain to Mya how her father happened to be a prisoner in Pan's camp.
Mya's P.O.V
"How much pixie dust is left?" I wondered after a moment of processing what Tink had just told me.
"Not enough to do the spell to send you back." She sighed.
"Enough to do a locator spell?" I asked.
"I think so, yes." She nodded. "But is that really what you want to waste it on?"
Well I wouldn't call finding my father a waste but… "I guess not." There was still a part of our plan that could work. But it would only work for Bae.
At least he'd be happy.
"I have another use for that pixie dust." And with that, I waved the coconut in my hand.
"A coconut?" Tink raised an eyebrow.
"It's a nightlight." I corrected her. "And with the right magic, it can be much more." I smirked. This better work.
Third Person
It didn't take long for Peter to realize Mya was not going to return. Frustrated, he flashed back to camp, where a delightful surprise awaited him.
"We caught the pirate." Felix stated, proudly.
"And the boy?" Pan demanded, showing no signs of appreciation towards Felix's catch of the day.
Felix's grin dropped, clearly expecting a more content reaction from Pan. "They weren't together. I sent a few boys to find him, but they haven't returned yet."
Peter nodded, glancing behind the Lost Boy to see the pirate being held by other two lads. "Put him in cage."
"With… the girl?" Felix whispered the last part, so the pirate wouldn't overhear.
"No." Pan declared. "I'd rather her being in Neverland remained unknown."
"By Mya?" Felix frowned, noticing her absence. "Where is she?"
At this, Peter simply scowled, leaving Felix to his deductions.
I gave you peter/pya/whateveryoumaycallthem action. Sort of.
Then I ruined it.
Because that's just the lovely person I am.
But I apologize profusely for not updating sooner. I just kind of put it off until I forgot and... well you know how that went.
Hopefully next chapter will come out sooner :) DONT GIVE UP ON ME! (please?)
