Guest: Well, to be fair the writers of Once Upon A Time helped a tad. But yes. All me :D (... I have no life)

Peter Pan's b: First of all, I do not approve of you using my husband's name in your username. And secondly, I don't know who your boyfriend is but my husband is the only one with a personal shadow that does his doing. so no, no shadow shall come after me *becomes paranoid* ... :)

ThePhantomismyLove: Yes.

Return to Neverland: ...Cookie? *offers basket full of cookie*

8839: Thank you!

kateofneverland: I'm replying to you twice and I'm not sure why but your review just caught my eye. I wonder if people do have periods in Neverland... or in shows in general because they never imply it.. ever. But I agree, that would be HILARIOUS. I'll definitely think of it ;)

Chapter 44: Nightlight

Mya's P.O.V

"You want to trap Pan's shadow?" Tink stared at me as though I was a crazy person.

How dare she doubt me. My plan was flawless-ish. "Yup." I nodded.

"And then use it to fly Baelfire back to his world." She continued, with a very pessimistic tone.

"Well if you say it like that even the most brilliant plan would sound dumb." I retorted.

"That's because it is a foolish plan." Tinkerbelle argued.

Well that was offensive. "Hey!"

"I'm sorry Mya but how do you expect to control Pan's shadow! It's unrealistic."

"Peter does it." I shrugged.

"It's his shadow." She highlighted.

Fair point… "Look, maybe it's unrealistic, but the shadow is the only way to travel between worlds right now. We don't really have a choice."

Tink sighed; a sign that she was warming up to my plan. Once again I demonstrated my outstanding persuading-ability. "I'll do my best to help you. But when Pan realizes you're using his shadow, he will stop you." She just had to bring that up, didn't she?

"That's why we have a solution for that too." I smirked, thinking of the squid ink. Baelfire better not have lost it. Or he would have become squid bait. After all the trouble it took me to get it… mostly Felix though. I then giggled at the thought of knocking down Felix. Good times, good times.

I stop laughing when I saw Tink eyeing me. "Why-" She was about to ask, but then restrained herself. "Never mind. Ignorance is a bliss when it comes to you."

"Wise choice." I seconded her.

Third Person

Once Baelfire had succeeded in escaping from the Lost Boys, he had two things on his mind: finding Mya, and finding the pirate. He chose to seek out Mya first; she'd probably come up with an idiotic plan to save her father, which for some unexplainable reason would actually work.

In relation to plans, Bae slipped his hand inside his trouser pocket, checking if the squid ink was still there. He sighed in relief when he felt the glass material through his fingertips.

He would enjoy using it on Pan. All he needed was an arrow.

Applying the method Mya had taught him, he closed him eyes, and believed he was holding a crossbow in right arm. After a few attempts, the weapon was firmly held in his grip.

He smiled, Pan was going to get what was coming to him.

Mya's P.O.V

We sat in front of each other, crossed legged, as Tink used the last remaining pixie dust on the nightlight.

"Is it done?" I asked after an awkward moment of silence.

Tinkerbelle glanced at me. "I think so."

"You think so?" I raised my eyebrows.

"It may surprise you to hear I've never actually done this before." She replied sarcastically.

"Okay I see your point." I reached out for the coconut, testing it in my hands. It felt the same as before. "Doesn't look different."

"Well hopefully it works." Tink said.

I nodded, standing up. "I have to find Bae." After all, he was the one who needed this.

"Mya," Tink started, making me turn around to face her, "if you're serious about this shadow-catching thing, you should probably know where to find Pan's shadow."

"Wait… you knew about Pan's shadow's hideout all this time? And didn't tell me?" I crossed my arms.

"It's a dangerous place, Mya." She informed me. "Like most of this island. And you haven't seen half of it."

"Wha-" I was pretty sure I'd seen at least three quarters of it. But then again, how was I supposed to know? "I'm not scared." I opted for that answer.

She nodded, uncertain. "Alright. The shadow, along with all the shadows of Pan's victims, is in the Dark Hollow."

I gulped. I was hoping for a name like 'Lollipop Land' or 'Rainbow Valley', but then again, this was Neverland.

Waving goodbye to Tink, I headed into the forest to find Baelfire.

It wasn't long until I ran into a familiar face. Unfortunately for me, that familiar face wasn't Baelfire's, or my father's.

"Where do you think you're going?" Peter's unmistakable voice echoed through the forest.

"…Uh." I turned to face him, slowly. "I was looking… for you." I slapped myself on the face mentally.

"Were you now?" Peter raised an eyebrow. How I loathe it when he does that.

"…Yes." I avoided his glare.

He sighed. "When will you start being honest with me, Mya?"

I opened my mouth, ready with another improvised response, then closed it. He was being serious. Maybe I should be too. "I'm sorry I ran." I apologized.

"Why did you?" He came closer to me until we were face to face. "I thought we were on the same page."

"We were." I corrected myself. "We are. But-"

"But what?" He inquired.

But I have to help Baelfire escape from you using your own shadow and in the process hitting you with a paralyzing arrow. Sorry?

Fortunately, we were interrupted before I could even utter a word. Well, not exactly interrupted, more like seen. But it was enough to catch my attention.

Baelfire was standing right behind Peter. I sighed with relief, but then frowned when I saw what he was holding. A crossbow. Crap.

I wanted to give him a sign. A huge neon one that said 'not now'. But the smartest choice to make at the moment was to stand down, at least Peter wouldn't assume I had something to do with it.

Speaking of Peter, he was still waiting for my answer. And if I kept staring behind him, he'd tell something was up.

"I guess I'm just afraid to trust you again." Ironic. Since I was the one about to backstab him. Literally.

He looked down, then back up at me. "I know I let you down." He acknowledged. "But-" Before he could continue, an arrow pierced through his back, edging him towards me.

"Peter!" I cried, holding his arms to steady him. The squid ink was acting fast; soon, he wouldn't be able to move a muscle. I glanced up at Bae with a dissenting look in my eye. I knew this was the plan. But I felt bad now!

"Baelfire." Peter smirked. "I see you figured out how to use a crossbow."

I rolled my eyes at him. There was a time for snarky comments. This wasn't it.

"Where's Captain Hook?" Baelfire demanded, ignoring Peter's remark.

"What?" I frowned hearing my father's name. "What do you mean 'where is he'? He was with you? Wasn't he?" I asked Bae.

The boy shook his head. "The Lost Boys took him."

I glared at Peter. "Where is he?"

The immortal bastard smirked in return. "I wonder where Baelfire learnt about squid poison."

Damn it. He was onto me. "Must be common knowledge." I shrugged.

"This is my point, Mya." Peter's tone of voice got serious again. "Neither of us can trust each other if we're both compulsive liars."

"I am not-" I was about to protest when I came to the realization that I really was. How did that happen?

"Although you were never really a good one." Peter continued, making me roll my eyes.

"Where's my father, Peter?" I placed my hands on my hips, demanding an answer.

He manages to look menacing even when he's paralyzed. "Safe."

Gee, thanks, that's a whole lot of information. "Peter-"

"He's leverage, Mya." Peter enlightened me. "Hand the boy to me, and you can have your father. Everyone wins." He threw in a wicked grin.

"How about no." I flashed him a smile right back. "C'mon Bae, you're going home." I turned my back on Peter and headed towards this 'Dark Hollow' place. How bad could it really be anyways?

Bad. Very bad.

Also very red. But that was besides the point.

"This place creeps me out." Baelfire stated.

"That makes two of us." I nodded. "But we need to hurry. Peter won't be paralyzed for long."

As we entered this dark cave, with red lighting, and black shadows circling around it, I immediately pulled out the nightlight. "Let's get this over with." I told Bae. "Do you have any matches?"

"I can get some." Bae smiled, closing his eyes. A box of matches appeared in his hands.

As I reached out to take it, I felt a clod shiver pass through me. Shadows. "We need to hurry!" I knew what Pan's shadow did; it ripped other people's shadows out. Which was excruciatingly painful. And I did not fancy experiencing it. I struggled to fire up the match with all the pressure of not dying from shadow-ripping.

"Mya!" I heard Bae panicking as another shadow came past us, tauntingly, like we were it's next pray.

The match finally lit, despite the wind the shadows were producing. I drew the nightlight close and it's candle caught the flame from the lighter. It was on.

Now all we had to do was pray Tinkerbelle wasn't a failure.

Relief flooded through me as one of the shadows, assumingly Pan's, started drawing into the light, almost completely, and that's when I closed the coconut lid, trapping it inside.

"And that's how you shadow hunt." I smirked proudly.

Baelfire grinned up at me. "We're going home."

My smile partly faded. "You are. I can't leave my dad. And you can't take any more chances." I handed him the nightlight. "Take it and go. Now."

Bae took the coconut with the trapped shadow inside, then looked up at me. "Thank you. For everything."

I smiled, pulling him into a hug. "Now go!" I set him free, and he reluctantly left the cave. And I truly wished I'd never see him again. Because that would mean we hadn't succeeded. And he deserved better than that.

Now, time to return to camp and face Peter's wrath. Yay.

Third Person

Baelfire took once last glance of the island before opening the coconut lid, setting the shadow free. This long black figure didn't intimidate him anymore, and he grabbed onto it, letting himself be dragged into the midnight sky, and out of Neverland forever.
