Chapter 46: Beacon Of Hope
Mya's P.O.V
The awkward moment when you realize you forgot to do something very important. And by important I mean rescuing my father. Or at least talking to him! But no, I had to go and get distracted by a blonde girl who claims to be receiving food from Peter.
And that made me, what? Jealous? How could I be jealous… I wasn't. Not of her and Peter. Not that they were anything. Because they weren't. I was probably just jealous of the fact she was getting food taken to her. Yup. That was it. All about the food.
"Who's that girl?" I inquired as soon as his annoying face came into view.
Peter looked genuinely baffled. "What girl?"
"The one in the cage." I specified.
Realization hit him. "I see you've met Wendy."
I grinned falsely. "Yeah. Care to explain why she's there?"
"Why do you care?" He smirked. Oh he was enjoying this, wasn't he?
"I don't." I denied, crossing my arms. "I was just curious."
"Well it's none of your business." He started to walk away. "In fact, you shouldn't even have found her."
I sauntered behind him. "But I did. And I want to know why you're keeping her prisoner in Neverland." I insisted.
He stopped walking and turned to face me. "Unfortunately fulfilling your every request isn't a priority of mine." I opened my mouth, ready with a comeback, but he spoke again. "And I will be changing the location of the cages, just in case you decide to visit them again." He turned and kept walking, soon joined by Felix.
I sighed heavily. Great. Now I'll never get to talk to my father. Why couldn't I just shut up about Wendy?
One thing was certain. He was up to something. Again. And it included Wendy somehow.

"News?" Peter asked as Felix joined him.
"The boys have agreed to do our," he corrected himself, "your, bidding. If you promise not to hurt the girl, Wendy." Felix snickered at the last part.
Peter nodded, still walking. "Assure them the girl won't be harmed if they complete their task." He then stopped, and turned to Felix. "Though it may take some time for them to do so." Seeing as the boy they were meant to find for him wasn't alive yet. And that all depended on Baelfire.
"You'll succeed in finding the boy." Felix wasn't sure whom he was trying to convince.
"Of course I will." Peter grinned wickedly. "Peter Pan never fails." Felix grinned back at this. "Now, time to feed our prisoner."
Peter made his way to the cages and ordered Logan to pull Wendy's down. As he did so, Pan took the liberty to interrogate him. "I have reasons to believe Mya came by here." He spoke casually.
Logan gulped. "I haven't seen her." He lied, and Peter could tell.
Instead of scolding the Lost Boy, he settled for a warning. "Remember you're under my command, and my protection. If you fail to follow my orders, I can no longer guarantee your safety." And that was all that needed to be said. Logan understood.
Once the cage hit the ground, Peter dismissed the boy. "Leave us." Logan nodded, and did so.
"Peter." Wendy's voice was weak, but hopeful. "Have you come to free me?"
"Not yet." He replied. "But I have good news."
Wendy gave him a small smile. "What is it?"
"I won't kill your brothers." Peter's idea of good news was questionable. "If you behave. And do as you're told." Wendy's smile faded.
"You said you would free me." She protested.
"And I will." He reassured her. "Just not now."
Mya's P.O.V
I sat on log, contemplating life, and trying to forget about my conversation with Peter and, well, Peter in general.
Turns out it was impossible. His voice kept running through my head and I felt like slapping myself to remove it. But I hadn't reached those levels of crazy yet. Yet.
Glancing up, I saw Logan leaving his post of guarding the cages. My eyes lit up. This was my chance. If Peter hadn't changed their location yet, I could still talk to my father. I stood up, but before I'd even taken a step forward, Logan stopped me.
"I wouldn't do that." He warned.
I raised my eyebrows. "Why not?" I asked, apart from the obvious reasons.
"Peter's there." Oh. "Talking to the girl." Oh.
Well now I was curious. "About what?" I attempted to be sly in my questioning, but clearly failed.
He scoffed. "Yeah, he told me all about his conversation right after we braided each others hair." Hey… Sarcasm was my weapon against them. He couldn't use it on me!
"Okay. I get it." I raised my hands in surrender. Then added, "although… a braid would look good on you." I grinned.
Logan rolled his eyes and started to leave. But as he did, thoughts about Peter talking to Wendy started to flow right back into my mind… I had to distract myself.
"Hey-" I called after him. "Wait." He turned around, a quizzical look on his face. "I'm bored." I admitted.
"Not my problem." He started to depart again.
I ignored that. "Can you please keep me company?" Emphasize on the please. He stared down at me. I wasn't sure if he was contemplating my offer or if he was deciding which way to cook my remaining's once he'd skinned me alive.
"Fine." He sat down the log behind me, and I soon joined him. "Why are you so interested in that girl?" Really? I asked him to keep me company so I'd dismiss the thoughts of her and Peter from my mind and that's the first question he asked me? Unbelievable…
"I don't." I shrugged off.
"Then why did you ask?" He raised an eyebrow at me. Peter did it better… Okay let's stop thinking about Peter right now.
"Because you brought it up." Yeah. Let's put the blame on him. Shame on you, Logan.
"Alright, so why did you go talk to Pan after you said you wouldn't?" He demanded.
"Oh… Sorry about that." Whoops. "Are you in trouble?"
He sighed. "You know Pan. What do you think?"
"I think if you were in trouble you wouldn't be alive right now." Let's look at the positive side, shall we?
"True." Logan smiled, but then it faded. "But why did you tell him?"
"I had to confront him on something." I told him, honestly.
"What?" He inquired.
So many questions… "Just something." I looked away from him, and tried to change the argument. "So… how did you get to Neverland?"
Logan seemed taken aback by this question, but answered it anyways. "It was a long time ago. When I lived in the Enchanted Forest." He continued. "One night, I heard this music, it was compelling. I just knew I had to follow it. So I did." I recalled Peter's magic flute, and how it made the Lost Boys even unwillingly. "And I found Pan. He was playing the flute." Knew it. Mya logic never fails. "There were boys dancing around him, and I joined them. That night, he offered to take us all to this incredible place, where there were no grown-ups and everyone did what they pleased: Neverland." He smiled as he spoke, made me realize how much this place meant to him.
"Do you ever regret coming here?" I wondered. Maybe it wasn't the most appropriate question… but it just came out.
He shook his head. "No. I hated the Enchanted Forest. I was alone there. Pan gave me a home where I feel accepted. That's all I could ever want."
I nodded in understanding; this place was a beacon of hope for these boys, but I also pitied the fact this was the best they could hope for.
"But don't you miss your family? Don't you want to go home?" I insisted.
"This is our home. All of us are here because we don't want to go back." He explained. It seemed illogical to me. I'd never choose to stay here rather than be with my father. I wanted to grow old, maybe have children and stuff.
Or did I?
Regardless or what I wanted, I was stuck here. Not by choice. That stupid Dreamshade forbid me to leave without Peter's help. And I had a feeling he wasn't going to give me the cure any time soon.
Third Person
Peter left Wendy to munch on her food as he left, searching for Logan to keep guard again. He wasn't too pleased when he saw where the Lost Boy was.
"Logan!" He shouted, capturing both Mya and Logan's attention. "Return to your post." The Lost Boy glanced at Mya before heading to the cages, but Peter grabbed his arm, restraining him. "I thought I told you to stay away from Mya."
Logan frowned, not recalling that conversation. "You didn't-" He was about to protest but Pan cut him off.
"Well I am now." He stated. "If I catch you talking to her again, you'll pay the price." Logan gulped at the threat, nodding. Peter grinned, setting his arm free. "Now get to work."
Mya's P.O.V
I sighed as Logan was forced to leave. Now I had no one to distract me. Glancing up, I saw Peter heading my way. Well he certainly wasn't going to distract me from himself.
"What was that about?" He raised an eyebrow.
I gave him a puzzled look. "What was what about?"
He rolled his eyes in frustration. "Your little talk with Logan."
Oh... If I didn't know any better I'd say he was jealous. Hehe. "None of your business." I smirked, mocking his previous reply.
This annoyed him even more. "He's my Lost Boy. So yes, it is my business."
"Well he's my friend." I guess I could call him that… Having two conversations with someone and knocking them out with a branch qualified as friendship right?
Wait… that meant Felix and I were besties… Abort theory!
Peter scoffed. Which really irritated me. "What? I can't be friends with someone now?" I challenged. "Oh, right, I can't." Rhetorical question. "You did forbid me to see Tink, my only friend here, and now my father. I guess you just want me to spend an eternity in solitude." I concluded.
"That's not what I want." He dismissed, after a moment of silence.
"Then what do you want?" I inquired, raising my voice slightly.
This back and forth nonsense between us was truly getting old. I wanted answers.
His eyes wandered around before they met mine again. "You." He stepped forwards. "I want you."
I inhaled, processing his answer. A pretty good one at that. The way I could go from wanting to slap him and wanting to crush my lips against his in so little time was really bizarre.
We were a few feet apart and all I wanted to do was close this distance between us, but we were surrounded by innocent minds and kissing him in front of them would go against my every moral.
Suppressing my urges, I turned around, hurrying towards the border of camp, praying Peter would follow.
I stopped once I reached a clearing beyond the camp, and glanced behind me. But no one was there. Damn it.
"Where do you think you're going?" I spun around to see Peter casually leaning on one of the trees.
I had almost forgotten his ability to materialize like that.
He detached himself from the tree and moved closer. "Why did you leave? Is it what I said?" His face showed a mixture of confusion and disappointment. What did he expect? I wasn't going to kiss him in front of all those children. But I was definitely going to here.
I crashed my lips against his, as my arms wrapped around his neck. He shortly returned the kiss, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer to him. I eagerly opened my mouth, and he didn't hesitate to slide his tongue inside. He tasted fresh, minty. Making me wonder where the hell you could find mint in Neverland.
After a moment of intense kissing, our lips separated, and I moved my hands to cup his face. "Yes. It's what you said." I smiled, and so did he, as his lips brushed mine once more.
Well... I suck at writing kisses. It's just... hard. Lol.
JUST BE HAPPY I GAVE YOU PYA. (it won't last long) (joking) (..maybe)
I just like torturing you guys. Plus, let's face it, ships are like food. If you get too much, you won't want any more... Okay maybe I made a wrong example. Heh.
