Chapter 47: Echo Cave

Mya's P.O.V

My eyes slowly opened, and a blurry Peter came into view. "Morning."

I frowned. Did I fall asleep last night? I glanced around. I was lying on Peter's hammock. I did not remember coming here. "Did you bring me here?"

"Would you rather I left you sleeping in the middle of the forest?" Peter raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah… no." I did not like forests. Or forest animals…

"I thought so."

Well the good news was I didn't have a memory problem. I must have fallen asleep when we talking, after we kissed. Many times… Damn it. I felt a twinge of guilt in my stomach. My father was trapped in a cage and I had been making out with the culprit.

But on the other hand, I liked Peter. There, I said it. And I shouldn't feel guilty about it... Right?

Plus, he made me happy, I was genuinely pleased to be around him. Peter diverted me from my thoughts. "A thank you would suffice."

"Thank you for not leaving me there as forest animal breakfast." Speaking about breakfast...

"My pleasure." He grinned. "I have something to attend to now. I trust you won't get into any trouble?"

"I can't make that promise." I held my hands up in the air. "But I will do my best to try." I probably won't. Trying takes effort.

He rolled his eyes at me, smiling. It was strange to see him smile, unusual. But I enjoyed seeing him like this: happy.

My stomach growled once he left. Okay, stomach, let's see what the unlimited Neverland food storage has...

Third Person

Pan left the tree trunk and materialized to another part of the island. A part that was forbidden to most of his Lost Boys.

"Pan." Felix's voice echoed.

Except for one.

"I'm here, Felix." He reassured him. The Lost Boy emerged from the forest. "Now, shall we?" Pan directed his gaze from Peter to the entrance of a cave. But it wasn't an ordinary cave: it was a prison. Pan had designed it for his worst prisoners, the ones he did not intend on setting free.

He called it the Echo Cave.

The name came from an old saying "the deeper the lie, the more truthful it's echo." In fact, to rescue a prisoner inside you must reveal your deepest secret.

"Maybe it isn't necessary." Felix prompted.

Pan glared at him. "If you're too intimidated by the cave feel free to remain here. But keep guard, I don't want anyone disturbing me." Felix nodded, and with that, Pan entered the dreaded Echo Cave.

Peter didn't fear this place, he had been here so many times the cave probably knew his secret by heart. He stepped on the uneven rocky pavement until he reached the precipice, and a cage was visible on the other side.

"Here we go again, dear Echo Cave." He sighed. "My secret is my name is not Peter Pan. It's Peter Piper. I used to live in the Enchanted Forest, mistreated and exploited. I have the heart of the truest believer and I used it to create Neverland, my new home. And I need to get to that cage to ensure that my home will last forever, and will never be taken from me." He paused, and waited for the cave to form a bridge to get to the other side. A tremor presented itself on cue, and the rocks started forming a passageway from the cage to Peter.

But it stopped at a three quarter distance.

Peter frowned. "That was it, Cave." He contravened. "The usual." But the link didn't budge. Pan groaned. This wasn't right. There was something missing according to the cave, but he had said everything there was to say. Hadn't he?

No. He hadn't.

Realization hit him as he smirked. "Of course you'd want me to admit that too." And with hesitation, he fulfilled the cave's demands. "I am in love with Mya Jones."

The cave convulsed once more, and the bridge was completed.

Peter reached the cage, and smirked at its prisoner, though he wasn't too sure she could see that.

"Peter Pan." Her voice shook slightly. "You have come to visit me once more?"

"Indeed I have, seer." He bent down, so he was face to… hands? with her. She lifted her hands up, so that the eyes on her palms could see him clearly. "I need you to tell me the future." He ordered.

"The future cannot be asked for. It will un-veil itself to us in it's own time." She stated, in her prophecy-like tone.

"Well I'm not asking, I'm demanding. And if you refuse, I'm also threatening." Pan warned.

"You swore you would free me the last time I aided you, but you have kept me in this cage." She pointed out. "How do I know you'll keep true to your threat?"

"Are you willing to take the risk that I won't?" He raised an eyebrow, and the seer didn't reply. "I need to know more about the boy. Who he is and where I can find him."

"Will you free me in return?" She inquired.

"Depends on the validity and efficiency of your answers." Peter retorted. The seer held out her hands and started searching. "Do you see him?" Peter asked impatiently.

"Yes." She replied. "He's leaving a building… called 'school'."

"I'm going to need more than that." Peter required.

"Someone is there to pick him up. A girl." The seer continued.

"Who is she?" Pan asked.

"The boy calls her… Amalia." She replied. "And she calls him Henry." Henry. That was the name of the boy with the heart of the truest believer that could save Neverland, and Peter. "They're going in a blue four-wheeled machine." The seer frowned, confused as to what she was seeing.

"This is obviously not the Enchanted Forest then." Peter said matter-of-factly.

"No. It's another land. A land without magic." She confirmed.

"What do you see now?" Peter inquired.

"They have reached a mansion, it's white, and there's a lady opening the door. She's hugging Henry. He calls her mom." And with that the seer dropped her hands.

"What? That's it?" Peter protested. "I need to know more."

"I have told you all I could." The seer replied.

"No, you haven't. Who is his mother? Who's that girl?" He continued asking questions.

"The mother's face is blurry." She lifted one of her hands. "Almost as if it wasn't just one face… but two."

Peter frowned. "That doesn't make any sense. What about the girl, can you see her face?"

"Yes. I can." The seer confirmed, looking back into her vision. The girl was waving goodbye to the boy and his blurry-faced mother. "It is the girl you have just admitted to being in love with."

"What?" Peter was perplexed at this news. Why would Mya be in a land without magic, and why would the boy call her Amalia? "There must be a mistake."

"The future doesn't lie, Peter Pan. And I do not mistake myself." The seer informed him.

"How is it possible?" Peter did not intend on Mya leaving Neverland, and he saw no reason why she should choose to leave. They were both happy right now.

"That is a question I cannot answer." She responded. "But I will tell you this; Henry shall come to Neverland." Peter grinned at this. "But his arrival depends on the girl." His grin faded.

"What does that mean?"

"It means that if you do not let the girl fulfill her destiny, she will not lead Henry to you, and you will never be able to save your home."

Peter gulped. This wasn't the news he had been hoping for. "There has to be another way. A way that allows her to remain here." He insisted. "I can still find the boy…"

"All your attempts will fail." She anticipated. "The only way is letting Mya Jones leave Neverland, and she will unconsciously lead the boy to you."

Mya's P.O.V

Peter had been gone for a long time now, and I was getting bored, plus I had finished a whole unlimited supply of pumpkin pie.

"Is he back yet?" I asked Logan as I saw him exchange shift with another Lost Boy for cage-guard.

"No." He replied, and started to flee.

"Wait-" I stopped him. "You've been avoiding me."

"No I haven't." Great. His eyes avoided me too. I raised bow my eyebrows at him. "Fine. I have." He admitted. "Look, Peter doesn't want me to talk to you, okay?"

"Why not?" Did I smell jealously? Oh wait maybe that was the smell of pie I had just eaten a ton of.

He shrugged. "I don't know. But please don't confront him about this." He pleaded. Probably reminiscing the last time I confronted Peter about something… "He just really cares about you. I've never seen his care so much about someone, except maybe Felix." Right, Felix. We were both at war for Peter's affections. "But you saw what he did to him, right?" Logan referred to the scar on Felix's face, the one Peter caused after his Lost Boy didn't save me while I was drowning. "He did that for you. He hurt his favourite Lost Boy for you."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked him.

He shrugged again. "I know he's an asshole most of the time, but he did save me from my life, he gave me a new home. So I guess deep down I want to see him happy. And he is when he's around you." He concluded.

"Thank you." I smiled at him. "For letting me know this."

"Mya." I turned around to see Peter. The smile on his face from this morning was gone. I glanced at Logan, who was already leaving, and then back at him. He didn't look angry, just upset.

"We were just talking and I know you don't want me to but-" He interrupted me before I could continue my defence.

"I'm not mad about that." He reassured me, stepping closer.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Then what's going on?"

Third Person

Felix stayed back after Pan left the Echo Cave, not that Pan noticed, he was too busy lost in his thoughts.

The Lost Boy entered the cave and crossed the already formed bridge.

"Felix." The seer held her hands up. He eyes staring up at him. "Come to hold up your end of our deal?"

Felix smirked. "Did you hold up yours?"

"I told him exactly what you asked me to." She replied. "That to save his beloved home, he'd have to let the girl go."

"Excellent." He commented. "I guess we'll both have what we want then." He pulled out a sword and lifted it up.

The seer's eyeball blinked at him. "Felix you of all people should know that isn't how it works here."

The Lost Boy sighed, placing the sword back into its sheath. "I thought I'd give it a try." He bent down. "My secret is, I want Mya out of Neverland for good, and have her never return. She has ruined everything that made Neverland feel like a home to me. She has taken away Pan from me."

The cage broke apart, setting the seer free. "Thank you."

"No, thank you." He grinned wickedly. "I'll make sure Pan believes you escaped on your own."

EVIL FELIX DUNN DUNN DUNN

idk why but I always felt like Felix was sort of 'in love' with Peter, in a platonic way obviously but still..

Oh well, the story needs a villain. If you didn't get it (u stoopid) Felix asked the seer to tell Peter that he needs to let Mya leave or Henry won't return cause she's the reason he return. Obviously that's not true cause Henry goes to Neverland thanks to those two human bastards whose names I forgot. BUT the seer's prediction is true. cue the DUNN DUNN DUNN
