50. Too Serious

He always had a blast dragging her away
from her thick parchment books
and into dirt and snow.

He always loved to watch the wind
laying havoc on her hair, tousling it
and adding leaves and twigs to decorate.

She claims she hates to be dragged away
but he knows she secretly likes it,
likes to be pulled away, to be controlled
by something other than her thirst for knowledge,
to go wild.

She hates her hair as well, the way it never listens
to a word she ever says, but she loves it as well:
the rebel to her otherwise perfectly controlled boring little life

Because it would be boring, sitting with books all day,
but he was always around to liven things up,
liven her up

And whatever she said with her mouth,
both of them knew both of them loved every bit of it.
