51. Girl-Power
For an adult,
Lily Potter was pretty cool.
She was tough,
but not as tough as McGonagall.
She was pretty,
but not as vain as Sinistra.
She was clever,
but not a talking book like Flitwick
nor did she spout senseless wisdom
like Dumbledore
And she grab the tongue of any man or boy
who misbehaved.
She didn't waste her time with frivolities either
and Lavender found herself dropping them
one by one
until she left them altogether
Hoping she could, one day,
be like that woman too: that strong
and independent
And desirable: like how any woman
like she
wished to be.
