So this chapter is really short, but if I put it with the next one, I felt it would just make it too long. So here's a view into who the rest of the Guardians have become! Yay! I hope you don't mind that they may be a bit OC but then again who isn't in this story right?
Anyways, I forgot this in the last chapter but KHR is not mine and I own nothing but my OC's and the concept of this story.
Hope you guys like it, I made it a bit of a cliff hanger type of deal, but I will try to get the next chapter up real soon. Hope you enjoy!
Somewhere under Namimori Japan- Vongola Base- Vongola Boss office—
He had a head ache.
No scratch that, he had a migraine!
Who would have thought that his simple memorial dinner for a lost friend would be turned into the mafia event of the year!? Like most of his problems in the mafia world, it all started when a fedora wearing brat got involved. He grounded heavily as he heard the door of his office open and felt the presence of just the brat he didn't want to see at the moment. He had just convinced Dinno to give him five minutes to rest. Five minutes, that's all he asked! He hadn't even gotten into the third minute!
"Wake up Baka-Tsuna, you can't let the other bosses see the head of the Vongola in such a sorry state." The fedora wearing child, now about fifteen in physic, said as he sipped a milk box. Tsuna lifted his head just enough to give his former tutor a glare before sighing and sitting up fixing his suit that had wrinkled when we was bent over. As much as he hated to be bossed around by the kid, he knew that he had a point, if any of the bosses or family representatives who had already shown up walked in on him napping on his desk it would not set a very good example for his family.
"Yes, yes, your right, now what can I help you with Reborn? I am in the middle of my very short and probably only brake." The Vongola boss said with a sigh as he motioned for the teenager to take a seat.
"Well actually I came to talk to you about the event. Are you sure you want to go through with this? I mean you know how Gokudera feels about this whole thing." Reborn said as he finished off his drink, tossing the box into the bin at the other end of the desk. "I know he's not going to say anything tonight, but do you think it wise to put him in a position that could make him look like a fool if he continues to look for her? Not only that, but it would make the Vongola look foolish when he does continue to look. One of our Guardians chasing the ghost of a girl who's been dead for six years!" Reborn said with a shake of his head.
"That's exactly why I'm doing this Reborn, he needs to move on, and this will hopefully give him that push to do so. I can't have my second in command spending all of his free time obsessing over someone who we all know is gone." Tsuna turned away and looked at the picture on his desk, one they had taken just after entering Namimori High. They were all there, his Guardians, I-pin, Bianca, Dinno, Mukuro's crew, the all of the babies, Enma and his family and even the Varia. And right in the middle stood Haru, eyes closed in a big smile flashing the piece sing standing between Kyoko and Hayato. "We all miss her Reborn…but she's gone, and it's time he realize that…" he said as he turned with stern eyes to meet Reborn's. The teenager sighed and nodded in agreement, it was indeed time they get their storm Guardian back completely, but he didn't like the way Tsuna was doing it. He knew he meant no harm, but if things went wrong tonight or in the days to follow, it could cause a lot more harm than good.
"I agree, but you need to be careful, what do the other Guardians think of this? Or did you even tell them your plan" Reborn asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yamamoto disagrees strongly, and so do, surprisingly, Mukuro and Hibari. Ryohei, Chrome, and Kyoko all agree, I didn't tell Lambo for obvious reasons, but I hope they will be able to forgive me… I know she bonds them, I just hope that bond doesn't brake when they give up on finding her."
"Their bond is not so weak herbivore, it is made up of more than you give them credit." Hibari Kyoya said as he entered the room, bowing to Reborn as he took the vacant seat across from his ridiculous and in his opinion, unworthy boss. "You still assume that the will stop just because it will, as you say, "shame" the family?" he asked with a skeptical brow "You forget that both of them have been known to get violent and efficient when anyone mocks them or their cause, are you so quick to forget what they did to that visiting Family who was foolish enough to call their search "futile"? I am not, it was quite the show actually; it was nice to be viewing the destruction for once rather than causing it." He said with a smile at the memory as Tsuna rubbed his temples. Of course he remembered that day, it had been only three years after she had gone missing and he was still new to the mafia world trying to make a good impression with an allied family. It had taken all that he had learned from Reborn and the Ninth and a few threats from the Varia to prevent the family from declaring war on them. "The fear they hold over those who would ridicule them will keep most in check, so I say again, that your plan is foolish and rather mean, and that my dear Boss, is coming from me." He said the term with such a sarcastic flare, Tsuna almost felt insulted.
"Regardless of that, it will be a good wakeup call if you ask me!" Ryohei said as he shut the door behind him quietly. Over the years, he had developed a bit of self-control and resembled the Ryohei they had met in their trip to the future in middle school in both manner and actions. "He needs to be pulled off the road he's heading, before something really bad happens to him. His obsession is not healthy and the fact that he is involving and encouraging Lambo isn't healthy either." It was no secret that Ryohei disapproved of the relationship the Storm and Lightning Guardians shared. Almost from the moment it had started, Ryohei had tried to separate the two, believing that they would only cause each other harm, and as far as he was concerned they did. "Lambo encourages Hayato in his search and he in turn gives the poor boy false hopes, it's far past time it stops!" he said as he took the available seat on near the back of the room still facing the rest. The office itself could hold up to forty people comfortably, what with its large sitting area furnished with Italian sofas and chairs and only desk. Three walls housed floor to ceiling book shelves, wail the one behind the desk held paintings of both classic Japanese scenery and Italian landscapes.
"But are they false hopes?" said a voice from the couch as they heard a hurried knock then the door burst open revealing a very winded and excited looking Yamamoto, dragging a very angry and dishevel Squallo into the room with him, closing and locking the door behind him as he marched up to the desk with a file in his hands.
"You're never going to believe what Squallo and the boys found!" he said as he dropped the file onto his boss's desk.
"Vvvvvvvoooooolllll! What the hell! Let me go you moron! I have to get back to my group of idiot before they cause a war!" Squallo said as he yanked his hand from Yamamoto's vice grip as Tsuna flipped through the file his Rain Guardian had presented him.
"Is what this file says true!?" Tsuna asked as he re-read the information that had been placed in front of him. "And if so, why wasn't I told of this beforehand!?" he demanded with glare toward Squallo who only shrugged.
"Yes, from what we have gathered it's true. Why didn't we tell you before? Because we didn't know that's why! You really think was would have kept this information secret and face the wrath of a psychopath you call your Storm Guardian if he found out? I prefer my inners where they are thank you" Squallo said with a defiant glare back at the Vongola boss. "Besides you guys are the ones who found the information not us, the bastard prince and kid found it when they were looking for more information for your psyhco. So if you want to blame anyone for not getting the info sooner, blame whoever let it slip through your fingers the first time! Now I will be leaving you bunch of morons, I've got my own to deal with!" Squallo said as he marched out the door, Yamato right behind him, yelling a quick "thanks" before he shut and locked the door again.
Tsuna was staring at the document in his hands, he could feel his Guardians getting anxious, and wanting to know what was in his hands. A small chuckle came from the sofa again and they all turned to see Mukuro smiling at them over a cup of tea. "I would seem that you might have to counsel the festivities for this weekend dear Tsuna. You may have been too quick to count the poor girl out." He said as he sipped his tea. This had everyone in the room tensing, all but Yamamoto who seemed to be ready to explode. And really why wouldn't he be? Here it was, the proof that his best friend had been looking for over the past six years! All of the heartbreak, the sleepless nights, the drunken episodes, it would all be worth it now! He had suffered so much watching the man he considered a brother struggle to cope and find hope in life, but now they had it! They had it and he could finally be of some use to his best friend.
"We have to tell him!" Yamamoto said pulling out his phone.
"No." it was not a statement, it was a command, and as Yamamoto looked into the eyes of his boss, he knew he would not be able to give his best friend the relief and hope he so desperately needed. "We don't know anything for sure, it could mean nothing, and if it does, it will only hurt him more. After the festivities are over, we will investigate more. But until then, no one says a word." Tsuna said as he pulled open a draw, placed the file inside and locked it.
"Well that will be simple enough… we don't know what's in the file to say anything about it." Reborn said in a board tone glaring at his formal pupil for keeping something so seemingly important form him.
There was another soft chuckle from the sofa as Mukuro began to turn to mist "Oh that is simple dear boy, you see, there was an island not far from where her plane went down, an inhabited island it would seem by a mafia family no less. It would also seem that before the plane went down, the emergency hatch was opened…." And with that, Mukuro left, leaving behind a room filled with a stunned silence, and mixed emotions of hope, fear, and an over lining cloak of guilt.
