72. Extra Baggage

She was tougher than she looked
and she had to be, to fall in love with him
without going splat on the wall behind
'cause she didn't put on the brakes when she needed to,
or worse, being crushed under thundering feet
as others ran for him

(not that he was a bad person by any means
but loving him meant certain baggage
that came attached

Like the press
that wouldn't leave him
nor her now, alone

Or the nightmares from the past
and all the blood that had been spilt
through it all)

But she loved him, and he loved her right back
and that was what made it possible
to go on.

And she was a tough woman, and fast too:
no crowd nor baggage was going to crush her
or flatten her on a wall.
