75. Never Be Loved

He never thought someone would fall in love with him.

After all, who was he? Nothing much,
a disappointment to everyone around,
the guy you could always rely on for comic relief
but never for a spell

But he was wrong about that, he realised;
he made friends, and finally a girlfriend –
the perfect sort of girl he'd never thought
he deserved.

He'd thought himself a weed
once upon a time
but it had just been a late bloomer
in disguise.
