Sorry about taking so long between updates, the holidays are a busy time and these chapters take a while to edit. Thank you to all who still follow this, we still have a ways to go.

"Bos, you've really got to start taking better care of yourself."

Bosley narrowed his eyes into an indignant glare and, slowly and deliberately, mopped his runny nose with his handkerchief. "Your concern touches me." He replied dryly.

Sabrina grinned at him. "Hey, I'm concerned here. But really, you look awful. I don't think Kelly and Jill would mind if you went home and got some rest after you saw them."

"How about you let me worry about my health?" Bosley sniffed, pocketing his soggy handkerchief.

"Have it your way." Sabrina humored him with a pat on the arm. She and Bosley pushed their way through the set of double doors they'd walked through less than an hour ago and finally found themselves in Jill and Kelly's hallway. The two officers Bill had assigned to stand guard by their door were still there, Sabrina was pleased to notice. Donovan's replacement had found himself a chair and the other man was leaning against the wall in boredom, but at least no one was going in Jill and Kelly's room without permission.

As they approached, both officers stood and, to Sabrina's surprise, eased themselves in front of the door.

"Sorry, sir." Carter said, holding up a hand to halt Bosley. Lt. Duncan said no one was allowed in there but his wife and the doctors."

Sabrina and Bosley both scoffed.

"Ex-wife!" was the portion of his comment Sabrina chose to comment on first.

Carter looked slightly embarrassed. "Sorry, ex-wife."

Irritated and wanting to sit down, Bosley cleared his throat loudly to interject but instead lapsed into a coughing fit. After staring at him for a moment, Sabrina finally tore her eyes away and managed a sweet smile for the two officers blocking the door. She wasn't quite sure how persuasive the effort would be since she hadn't slept last night, or brushed her hair, or changed her clothes, but it was all she could think of.

Maybe just being Bill's ex-wife would do the trick. Just one more perk of divorcing him.

"Look, fellas, he works with us." She explained calmly while Bosley's coughing fit intensified behind her. "He has every right to be here as I do, alright?"

Carter and Kessler shared a look. Kessler shrugged, but Carter looked torn. "I dunno, Mrs. Du - uhm..."

Sabrina rolled her eyes. "Duncan. Yeah, that does complicate it a bit, doesn't it? Look, you can call him yourself in a few minutes. He said he was headed back to the office. But, just let my co-worker in, huh?"

By now recovered, Bosley wiped his eyes with his sleeve and ambled forward, nudging Sabrina aside. "Excuse. me." He sniffed, digging a hand into his pocket for his wallet. He made sure Sabrina saw the piteous look he was shooting her before presenting, with a flourish, both a business card and his driver's license to both men. "John Bosley, see? Townsend Agency. That's me." While Sabrina buried her face in one hand, he snapped his wallet shut and smiled. "Can I go in now, gentlemen?"

"Can't argue with that." Carter relented, shrugging his shoulders and stepping aside.

"Thank you." Bosley replied graciously. He sent a smug look towards Sabrina and then offered her his arm. "That's how it's done." He whispered.

Sabrina, still embarrassed, took his arm. "Mmhm." She mumbled.

What a long day.

Irritated with herself, she pulled open the doorknob and, tugging Bosley along, backed into the room. "Thanks a lot, fellas! We won't be long. Oh, and if you see a little blonde and a… a blonde guy, they can come in too. They're Jills sister and, uh, brother, okay?"

"Barbie and Ken can come in, got it." Carter laughed. They had already been in and out, but because the young woman was wearing a police uniform and neither of them looked as shady as the rumpled older man in the trench coat, he'd let them in without question.

"Thanks." Sabrina replied, trying not to laugh. She and Bosley bustled through the door and, much relieved, Sabrina turned to see how her friends were faring.

To her delight, Jill was sitting up in bed, still pale and weak looking, but awake and alert all the same. "Hey, look who's up!" she called, shutting the door behind her. Her foul mood brightened by seeing Jill, she strode quickly towards her, abandoning Bosley at the door. "Hey, how are you feeling, Jill?"

Jill glanced at Kelly, who for some reason was sitting in the chair by her bed, and then beamed up at her. "I honestly have no idea." She answered cheerily.

"Not a clue?" Sabrina answered, a bit confused by the answer. Ignoring Kelly, She plopped herself down at the foot of Jill's bed and patted her leg. "You sure?"

"I'm sure I don't have a clue." Jill confirmed sweetly. Her blue eyes found Bosley and her grin widened. "Bos! What are you doing here?"

"Exactly what you're doing, honey. Not having a clue." Bosley answered her with a warm smile. He leaned in and gave her and Kelly both a quick hug before settling himself on the chair next to Kelly. "How are you girls doing?"

"Just swell." Kelly mumbled.

Bosley smiled at the sarcastic answer and, on a hunch, looked discreetly between Kelly and Sabrina. He had been in their room for less than thirty seconds and already, he was picking up on quite a bit of tension between the two of them. It wasn't usual that Kelly and Sabrina fought, but whatever it was they were fighting about, it was something he'd just have to overlook it for now.. Refereeing between the girls was one of his least favorite activities and that was when he was feeling one hundred percent. Even the thought of doing so now was exhausting. They'd work it out, he decided quickly.

"So, would anyone mind letting me know just what happened?" he asked instead.

Impatient to get some details, Sabrina butted in. "Yes, Kelly. What happened?" she said evenly and the two girls shared a look that made Bosley even more uncomfortable. "Listen, I got Bill to agree to let me talk to you two and tell him what's going on later. That's if he still wants to help us after the brush off you gave him."

Kelly said nothing but the sudden look that crossed her face was one that threw Sabrina off. There it was again, that same mixture of fear and anger she'd seen on Kelly's face while she'd rambled hysterically in the car. It was enough to make Sabrina's demeanor soften. Compulsive liar and inconsiderate though she was, Kelly had just been through something traumatic and maybe yelling at her now wasn't in anybody's best interest. Pushing the situation with Alan aside for the moment, Sabrina sighed and started over.

"Please, Kell. I'm sorry I sent Bill in but we need to know what happened to you two." She pleaded. She narrowed her eyes and for the first time noted that Kelly had somehow gotten herself to that chair she was sitting in. "Also, what are you doing out of bed?"

Feeling pressured by the expectant stares of all three of her colleagues, Kelly turned away. Somehow Sabrina being nice to her was even more aggravating than her yelling. "I'm sitting here, Bri. I got bored. Is that okay?"

"You shouldn't be in a chair, you should be-"

"I like the chair."

"Let her stay in the chair." Bosley cut in wearily.

Outnumbered, Sabrina sighed. "Fine. Stay in the chair. Can you please tell us what happened now?"

Kelly looked at Jill and then back at Sabrina and Bosley. "Maybe… maybe I will get back in bed. It's kinda cold in-"

"Kelly!" Jill cried.

"Fine!" Kelly shot back. She rubbed her face in both hands and shot Jill one last warning glare before launching into what she hoped was enough of a story to take the heat off of her. "Jill wrecked the car..."

"A deer jumped in the way! It wasn't my fault!" Jill piped up.

Kelly stared blankly at her. "So Jill wrecked the car and we were forced to hitchhike." she continued. "This guy in a truck picked us up and dropped us off at that weird ass hospital."

"Guy in a truck?" Sabrina mused. "What did his truck look like?"

Kelly shook her head. "I don't… I can't remember." She turned to Jill for help. "Was it gray? Or white?"

"It was a white truck." Jill nodded. "His name was Gunther."

Bosley was busily scribbling something down in a notepad he'd gotten out of his pocket. "I don't suppose either of you got his license plate number?" It wasn't a surprise when both girls shook their heads. "Didn't think so. Last name?"

Kelly and Jill shared a look and both shrugged. "He didn't say." Jill answered for both of them.

"Well, does it really matter?" Kelly asked. "All he did was drop us off."

"You know what bugs me about him though, Kell?" Jill said suddenly. "Bru-" She stopped herself from speaking further and loudly cleared her throat to muffle the beginning of the name. "…that nurse said he'd called to check on us, remember?"

Kelly looked puzzled. To be honest, she didn't remember.

"What are you getting at, Jill?" Sabrina urged.

"Well, why wouldn't he let us use his phone if he had a phone?" Jill went on. "I pick up someone on the side of the road and if I have a phone in my car, the first thing I'm gonna do is let them make a phone call, you know?"

A concussion made it difficult to recall their arrival at the hospital and the effort made Kelly's head hurt. Memories were more scattered than she'd realized. She concentrated hard, but the memories slipped away just as soon as she reached for them.

"I don't remember him calling." She admitted.

Jill rolled her eyes. "What a shock. But, I do."

"It might be nothing, but we'll look into him anyway." Sabrina said after a moment. Her eyes blanked for a few moments while she thought. "Did he say anything about himself that could help us find him? Where he worked or anything like that? "

"He said he was a surveyor here in L.A.." Kelly offered. She looked thoughtful for a moment but shook her head. "His company, I don't know. I don't think he said."

Jill shook her head in agreement. "No. He didn't. But there was a logo on his shirt. Maybe you can trace that?"

Sabrina and Bosley shared an excited look. A logo might not get them anywhere, but Charlie with his extensive resources might be able to do something with it. "What'd it look like?" Sabrina asked quickly.

Jill and Kelly shared another look.

"It was…..like a circle. With an X in it." Kelly started.

"No, not an X." Jill cut in. "More like an hourglass."

"An hourglass made of X's. There were two of them."

"An hourglass is not the same thing as an X, Kelly."

"Well, not like a real X. It looked kinda like an X!"

"You're brain damaged, aren't you? Is she brain damaged?"

While Kelly and Jill debated on the difference between hourglasses and X's, Sabrina wearily held out a hand towards Bosley, who knowing exactly what she wanted, surrendered his notepad and pen. Sabrina flipped the page and eyed them both. Kelly had a better eye for detail, but Jill would remember more. She would probably draw a better picture too, though neither of her friends had full use of their dominant hand. But because Jill's right arm was hooked to an IV drip, forcing her to stay lying down, Sabrina instead slapped the notepad onto Kelly's lap, putting an end to her two friends' bickering.

"Kell, just draw it." She sighed.

Fixing Jill with a triumphant look, Kelly balanced the notepad in her lap and, the thick wrapping on her right hand forcing her to use her non-dominant left, began making light marks on the paper. As she drew, Sabrina, Jill, and Bosley all leaned forward to see Kelly's progress, until their shadows were blotting out her light. Too focused to care though, Kelly quickly sketched out a crude likeness of what the vague memory of Gunther's company logo looked like in her head. With a bit of coaching from Jill, she quickly finished her drawing and passed the notepad back to Bosley.

He and Sabrina immediately crowded around it, both looking puzzled.

"Never seen anything like that before." Bosley said, shaking his head.

"No, me neither." Sabrina agreed. She bit her lip thoughtfully and glanced back at her two friends. "You're sure his company is in L.A.?"

Kelly shrugged. "No. But's that's what he said."

Sabrina lapsed into a thoughtful silence before fixing a sweet, innocent look on her face and turning her head towards Bosley.

Bosley groaned and pulled the notepad away to stick in his coat. He'd seen that look before. "Yes, I'll get this to Charlie for you."

"Thanks, Bos." Sabrina beamed, before turning back to her two injured friends. "What happened once you got to the hospital?"

Kelly looked at Jill, a strange warning glance that didn't go unnoticed by Sabrina. "Then there were nurses." Another glance at Jill. "Four of them. A man and three women. And they mentioned a doctor."

Sabrina excitedly rubbed her hands together, eager to finally unravel just what the hell had happened as she drove across California in the darkness. "Good. That's good, Kelly. Is there anything else you can remember? Any names? Distinguishing features? Anything at all?"

"Distinguishing features? Before or after?" Jill mumbled dryly. Kelly shot her a furious look and, looking upset herself, Jill rolled her eyes. But Kelly kept up and Jill was unable to ignore her facial expressions, as well as her subtle hand movements that were directing what Jill could and couldn't say. Once Sabrina noticed that the sudden silence was not so much due to her two friends trying to remember the events of last night as it was to having their own telepathic conversation, she intensely tried to catch what they were saying without interrupting.

Kelly's final look showed defeat, shrugging her shoulders with a tiny scoff. Jill tried hard not to look smug, beginning her explanation once more. "Irene Stone was one of the nurses." She bit her lip, thinking hard. "Middle aged. Think Hazel in a nurse's getup. Then there was one named Anna. She was a lot younger. About our age." She stopped and thought for a moment before giving up and looking to Kelly for help. "Did you get a last name for her?"

"No." Kelly admitted simply.

Jill shrugged helplessly. "It's hard to remember… I don't think they had on badges."

"That's okay." Sabrina waved off her concern. "Go on."

"The guy's name was Bruce." Jill continued slowly. She closed her eyes for a moment and then let out a frustrated sigh when she couldn't remember what she was trying to. "He told us his last name but I don't remember."

Kelly rubbed at the bridge of her nose, her head suddenly pounding. "Me neither. There was another nurse about our age too, but I didn't get her name at all."

"That's okay." Sabrina said again. "The doctor?"

"We didn't see him." Jill answered.

"Again, that's okay. So, now fill me in. What happened?"

Kelly groaned, now feeling sick to her stomach. "They separated us. I got put in a room and they locked me in. Anna flipped when I told her I was…" she immediately snipped off the end of her sentence and shot a panicked glance towards Bosley, the only person in the room not privy to her secret. Luckily, he was busy scribbling something in his notepad. "…a detective."

Sabrina picked up on her coded discretion immediately. "Detective?" she asked cryptically "She flipped when she found out you were a detective."

"They all did." Jill added. "They really wanted… detectives it seemed."

Up until that point Bosley had been dutifully taking notes, but the inanity of what the girls were saying finally made him look up. "What?" he asked in confusion. "What did they care if you were a detective? How'd they even know?"

Kelly looked pointedly at Sabrina. "I don't know. But it wasn't normal."

"No." Sabrina said quietly. "It's not. Then what happened?"

"They gave me a shot and I started getting sick." Jill went on. "But-"

"Did they say what was in it?" Sabrina interrupted her.

Jill looked annoyed at being cut off. "They told me it was for pain. I think we can all agree that they lied." When Sabrina motioned for her to continue, she sighed and did so. "Anyway, I snuck away from Bruce and found Kelly's room. One of them had the key to it, I guess, but Anna went in and then I hit her and me and Kelly got away from her and we hid. I don't remember much else until the cop came and got us out."

Bosley looked up, again confused. "The cop?"

Sabrina snatched his arm. "Yes, the cop, Bos! Remember I told you?"

"You didn't say anything about-"

"Then I'll tell you again." Sabrina cut him off, a warning look on her face. "Later?"

Catching on, Bosley sniffed and rolled his eyes. "Later." He agreed, slightly annoyed. "Kelly, can you fill in any more blanks?"

Kelly looked up, having seemingly zoned out while Sabrina and Bosley argued. "Huh?" she answered. She looked pale and Sabrina decided she'd help her back to bed as soon as they were finished answering questions. "Oh… we uh… hid in an elevator. And they were going crazy trying to find us. Then Jill passed out so we snuck on the second floor and I put her in a closet and went downstairs to get help and saw… the cop. She went around and got us out through the window."

Sabrina shook her head unhappily. "Jesus. So you could have five crazy people after you."

"Yes." Kelly answered quickly. She didn't look well at all and when Sabrina gestured toward her bed, she nodded and the interview paused while Sabrina and Bosley helped Kelly back to her bed. Once she was settled, Sabrina sat down on the foot of her bed and patted her leg.

"Anything else you can think of? Jill?" she asked gently.

When Kelly and then Jill both shook their hands, Sabrina smiled, fixed them with an obvious 'bullshit' look and then crossed the room to where Bosley had just taken his seat again. "Bos-" she started slowly and judging her tone correctly, Bosley stood without prompting and smoothed his rumpled coat.

"Before you ask, yes, I'll go to the office right now." He announced, pulling the notepad from Sabrina's hands. "Let me run these names by Charlie and see what we can come up with. You girls are alright here by yourselves?"

Jill grinned. "We'll try not to choke on anything."

Bosley rolled his eyes gamely, before giving Jill and Kelly another hug and making his way to the door. "I'll check in with you in an hour, girls. Play nice."

Sabrina wiggled her fingers at him. "Will do, Bos. Don't work too hard."

One final glare and Bosley was gone. To her credit, Sabrina waited until the door had closed before whirling on her two friends. "Okay, now what are you not telling me?"

Jill and Kelly looked adequately baffled. "What are you talking abo-" Jill started.

"Oh, stop!" Sabrina scolded them. She'd seen the conspiring looks they'd been giving each other since her and Bosley got into the room and it was same looks they'd had on their faces the time Jill had broken her garbage disposal and convinced Kelly to help her cover it up until it could be replaced. It hadn't worked then and it sure as hell wouldn't work now. "Please, Jill. You think I don't know my two best friends? You two sitting there making faces and hand signals at each other. What are you hiding?"

Jill looked pained and turned her gaze towards Kelly, a wordless plea in her tired, blue eyes.

"I knew it." Sabrina sighed. "Just tell me, Kelly. C'mon."

She was able to hold out for a few more stubborn moments before Kelly's resolve crumbled. She muttered a curse under her breath and pulled the thin sheet that was covering her up to her chin. "Look," she started, her voice miserable and low. "I thought they were going to kill us. They were gonna kill us."

"What happened?" Sabrina urged. Seeing Jill and Kelly now was alarming her and suddenly she wasn't so sure she wanted to know what had happened under that hospital roof.

Kelly took a deep breath and lowered her voice. "Bri, they gave Jill something and I thought she was gonna die, I really did."

"Just tell her." Jill whispered.

"The guy, Bruce, he tried to come in through the elevator roof." Kelly went on quietly. "And he wanted my baby for something. He said so. And, I swear I didn't mean to, but I was scared and I thought Jill was dying and I was so messed up, I… I couldn't let him get in so I started the elevator."

Sabrina groaned, guessing at what the end of her story would be. "Oh, Christ, Kelly."

"It was an accident!" Kelly insisted, looking genuinely upset. "I just wanted him to leave us alone and I didn't know what floor we were on and..." she trailed off, hoping Sabrina would fill in the blank herself.

"And you crushed him?" Sabrina asked wearily.

"Like a pancake." Jill offered helpfully.

Kelly gulped back a wave of emotion. "I didn't mean to. But… but if it was between that or him taking us again, then… I'm glad I did."

Sabrina whistled. Morbid or not, she had to agree with Kelly's logic. "So, you redecorated the ceiling with a guy who was trying to hurt you?" She ignored the horrified look her callous statement brought to Kelly's face. "Self defense. Bill can-"

"There's more." Jill added, motioning for Kelly to continue.

"More." Sabrina echoed flatly. "Shit. Of course there's more."

"Irene Stone killed another nurse. Not Anna, the other one." Kelly started reluctantly.

Sabrina's eyes widened. "Did any of them survive?"

"Yes!" Kelly cried, frustrated. "Let me finish. She killed that nurse with Jill's gun, which she still has. And she had on gloves. And Jill and me both bled all over the damn place and left fingerprints just about everywhere and just what in the hell do you think is going to happen if the cops swarm the place? What would you say to save your ass, Bri? Cause if it's what I would do to get myself out of trouble, then we can't afford to be held somewhere while the police investigate to see which of us is telling the truth. She said she'd come for us, Bri, and I believe her, there's no way they'll let us get away with killing two of their-"

"Okay!" Sabrina placated her, quickly rising and taking Kelly's hand. Kelly was panicking again and the baby had been through enough without distressing its mother any more. "Okay, okay, okay! Just… just calm down, we can figure this out."

"What's to figure out!?" Kelly cried, not at all calmed. "We can't tell the police what happened!"

"Kelly, relax." Sabrina soothed, taking her shoulders to keep her from sitting up. "Look… I won't tell, huh? We can… let's just see what we can dig up on these people. You said they wanted your baby. If we can prove they're running some kind of black market baby farming… whatever, then there won't be a case at all for them. That'll prove they tried to hurt you and you both acted in self defense. Will you just trust me?"

Kelly let out a long breath and finally let Sabrina ease her back into her pillow. "Yeah. Yeah, I guess."

To their left, Jill snorted. "Black market baby farm?" she laughed.

Sabrina shot her a dirty look. "Or whatever, I said. By the way, what did Alan say to you when you woke up?"

Jill's face twisted into a look of complete bewilderment. "Alan?"

"You mean he hasn't been in here since you woke up?" Sabrina cried. "Kelly! Why didn't you call someone?"

"What do you mean Alan? Kelly's Alan?"

Both Sabrina and Kelly ignored Jill's question. She still had hold of Kelly's arms and, irritated and still panicky, Kelly pushed her away. "No, you two came barging in here before I had a chance to."

"Well, dammit, Kelly! Why didn't you say so?!" Sabrina muttered, slamming her hand into the call button. "We coulda waited until Alan checked her out."

Jill had pushed herself up on one hip as she tried in vain to catch her two friend's attention. "Um, excuse me but what the hell are you two talking about? Why is Alan here?" she almost yelled.

"Because we're at his hospital and he's your doctor!" Sabrina finally snapped. "He's the one who got you two in the same room."

Jill's face blanked. "Why in the hell would you bring Kelly here?!" she said angrily. "That fucking dirtbag! How could you ev-"

She was even more confused when Sabrina's laughter cut off her angry rant. "What?!" she demanded.

Sabrina chuckled humorlessly to herself. "Oh, Jill. Trust me, you've missed a lot."

Jill's brows furrowed suspiciously. "What's going on?" she snapped. "Someone tell me!"

"Nothing's going on!" Kelly cried out. "Can we stick to one goddamn topic?"

Jill stared hard at her, making note of the 'broken garbage disposal' look that was plainly written on Kelly's face. "Kelly, I swear to God! What are you two hiding?!"

"Not that fun, is it?" Sabrina teased.

"Kelly!"

Kelly opened her mouth to speak, but Sabrina laid a gentle hand on her chest and pushed her lightly back down. "Allow me." She said cheerfully. "Our Kelly here, never bothered to tell Alan that she was pregnant with his baby. Isn't that something?" She waited until a suitably shocked look took over Jill's features before going on. "He just found out today. Kelly had planned on never telling him."

"Goddammit, Bri." Kelly murmured, shutting her eyes in humiliation.

There was a few beats of silence before Jill suddenly exploded. "Kelly! What the fuck!" she yelled so loudly that both Carter and Kessler outside could hear. "You fucking liar, Kelly! Why did you tell us he left you?! Oh my God, I called and left him a message telling him what a piece of shit he was and you were lying?!"

Kelly groaned. "I saved you in the elevator, remember?"

"I cannot believe you, Kelly!" Jill sputtered furiously, tripping and stumbling over her own words. "I can't… I can't even… what is the matter with you!?"

"I've been asking her that all day." Sabrina added.

Already at her emotional limit after the conversation with Alan, Kelly flopped back in her bed and covered her face with both hands. "I don't know. I really don't know."

Jill, red in the face now, continued hollering at her. "How could do that to him!? How could lie to us, Kelly!?"

"Do you think I planned it this way?!" Kelly snapped back just as angrily.

"No! If you could plan ahead, maybe you would have told him to wear a condom!"

At that, Kelly uttered a soft moan of defeat and rolled over in her bed, giving both Jill and Sabrina her back. "I don't want to talk about it. Just leave me alone, alright?" She said softly. Overwhelmed, she sucked in several quiet breaths and stared hard at the quickly blurring wall in front of her.

"Oh my God, Kelly!" Jill cried, flopping back into her bed. "Jesus, what's next?!"

Sabrina, for the sake of her blonde friend's quickly rising blood pressure, chose not to answer that question. "Jill, just settle down, huh?"

"Settle down?!" Jill echoed. "She lied to us! And now I have to see Alan and that would be fine except, oh yeah, I told him I would castrate him the next time I saw him! Because I thought he had knocked up my best friend and dumped her when he found out she was pregnant!"

Sabrina winced. "Well… sometimes we don't tell people we're carrying their babies." She said slowly, almost thoughtfully. "And sometimes we hit deer on the road and sometimes, just sometimes, we break our friend's garbage disposals and then lie about it. We all make mistakes."

The nurse that entered their room just then saved Jill from making another one. She closed the door behind her and her already cheerful face brightened when she saw Jill sitting up in bed. "Ms. Munroe, you're awake!" she cooed. "Oh, how nice. How are you feeling?"

Jill glared at Kelly's still form. "I've been better."

There was predictably no response from Kelly and Jill decided that was probably for the best, she was so upset with her.

"Good, good. I'm going to just take your blood pressure and your temperature, and then Dr. Samuelson will be here after he finishes his rounds, ok?"

Jill's complexion looked rather green. "Can't wait." She mumbled.

"And Ms. Garrett, how are you feeling?" she called out as she rooted through her apron pocket for something. When Kelly didn't respond, the woman clucked her tongue sympathetically. "Oh, she's having a nap then. That's good. I'll just check up on her later."

Deciding that was as good a cue as any, Sabrina clapped her hands on her knees and popped to her feet. "Okay, I'm going to run some errands. I'll be back soon. Keep the phone in reach."

Jill nodded weakly as her nurse made a fuss of taking her blood pressure. Sabrina grinned as she passed and laid a hand on the nurse's shoulder. "Take good care of them, huh?"

The nurse beamed. "Oh, I most surely will."

Sabrina smiled politely as she backed out the door. The smile immediately faded as she caught Jill's eye just before leaving. She raised a closed hand to her face and extended her thumb and pinky in a universal phone gesture, fixing the miserable blonde with as stern an 'answer the damn phone' look as she could muster before she slipped out the door and was gone.
