81. Chasing Death
She knew the only thing she chased was death
but still she ran on, trying to keep up.
Most of her didn't think it much of a sacrifice
(though there was a little part of her mind
that reminded her of her son)
But love was funny like that, it made you forget
everything else: even that son
because she could see her husband's battered body
falling before her, even if she was so far away
from him
But she was coming closer now, chasing his fleeing life
even though she knew she was only bringing herself
even closer to her own death.
