Chapter 12: I am Accused of Stealing a Wand
(Hugo)
There he was again. That random man. He stood staring at me. I could see him better than I could the last time he appeared, in Lily's little house. He had a pretty much bald head with a little bit of red hair, he was old but not the normal type of old. This guy looked like… like a spirited jolly man stuck in an old person's body. Besides the wrinkles, the baldness and the way he slouched he looked young enough to be Lily's father. Except he couldn't be… could he?
"Who are you?" I whispered.
The man put a finger to his lips, telling me to shush. "That's not important right now, Hugo. The important thing is that you have to know Ryan Code is coming.
Ryan Code. The name sounded familiar. And not a good familiar like this man or Lily. No, he was bad. Whoever Ryan Code was he was not a friend, maybe even an enemy.
I had started feeling weak again after using the stick, which I noticed I was still holding. But after hearing the name Ryan Code I felt better. I hadn't noticed, but at one point sat down. Now, I stood up. "Who is he?" I asked. "Ryan Code?"
"He's bad," the man said. "Very bad. He also travels through minds. You know you're in your head right now Hugo, correct?"
I nodded.
"Good. That means you have ultimate power. No matter what he says do not listen to him. He'll be after you very soon, which is why I have to leave. But just remember fight Hugo, don't give up."
And with that the old man faded.
That's when I heard the footsteps behind me. I turned and saw a boy running towards me at full speed.
Clutching the stick as if it was life itself I bolted deeper into the forest.
Apparently you remember a lot when you're running for your life.
For example I remembered that Lily was my cousin. And we both hated Ryan Code, though I didn't quite know why. I had a flash back of talking to him. It seemed like a civil conversation. It also felt like it was long ago which lead me to believe I hadn't always known Ryan Code was evil.
I also remembered that Al from my other vision was my cousin too. Lily's brother. And there was another boy there, the one with the devilish red-brown hair. He was James, Lil and Al's oldest brother.
And I recalled that this whole running through the forest thing had happened before. Except not really. It was like the visions which I figured meant I dreamt it.
At the moment I was running through the thick foliage of the forest it was getting darker and thicker. I'd had this dream hundreds of times and not once did I make it out alive.
Quite suddenly a red light- or was it green- came shining through the trees. It was like a beam, a ray of light coming towards me. I knew I should move, get out of the way.
But I couldn't focus on moving. I could only watch as the beam- which I now realized was changing between red and green color- coming towards me. I was paralysed with fear. This was it. My life ended here.
And then the beam hit me.
It felt odd. Not like I was dying but like I was being separated from my body. Which didn't really make any sense because wasn't I already separated from my body? I was walking around in my own mind. You can't possibly die… inside yourself, can you?
"That's it, Hugo," Ryan said. "I've got you. Now tell me where the wand is!"
"What wand?" I demanded looking down at the stick in my hand.
And then I wasn't in the dark forest.
"Hugo, Lily," said the kind voice of a women with bushy brown hair. "We would like to explain something to you."
A little boy who was definitely a young me- around three or four- sat on the couch with Lily, who was about the same age, in front of four people who must've been our parents.
"What is it?" said the impatient voice of young-Lily.
"Lily, don't be rude. What we're trying to tell you is very important," said the red-haired woman who was Lily's mother.
James and Albus, my cousins, were playing with a girl, who I believe was my sister, on the other side of the room. James who seemed annoyed for some reason came over to us.
"You're both wizards," he said bluntly. He turned to our parents. "There, I just saved you time."
And with a little swagger that I didn't think was possible for a six-year old he walked back to the other side of the room and plopped down to being playing again.
When I came back to reality Code was still shouting at me about some wand. Now, I remembered what a wand was. Wizards and witches used wands. It allowed you to cast spells. And I used a wand, because I was a wizard.
"I don't have any wand, Code!" I shouted more confident than I felt.
Code glared at me and ran over to my body. "I used a spell that expels a person from their body. Only works when you're travelling through a dream world or you're in someones mind. Point is you're not in your body anymore. Which means you can no longer do anything. I have full control here Hugo. You'll either tell me where the wand is or I'll kill you."
I looked down at myself and then at my body lying lifeless next to Code.
"I don't have your wand," I said, my voice much less confident this time.
"Well, if you don't give me any information I'll kill you and go after Lily. I'm sure she'll know something."
I felt a pang in my heart for Lily. Sure it was only the memory of her in my mind that had been killed, but it still felt like a tremendous loss. And to know the real Lily was in danger… I couldn't live- or die- knowing I was the cause of her pain.
"How'd you even find out about the wand?" I asked narrowing my eyes the same way Code was.
Code grinned, a little evilly, and a little proud. It was a creepy look, yet it also looked natural on his face. "Lucius. He saw you that day when he took it from the grave. Did you really think that a disarming him would stop me from getting the wand?"
I shrugged doing my best to act like I understood what was going on.
"Well, it didn't work. Honestly, Hugo, I'm kind of disappointed in you. I mean, James is a dunce but at least he's fun to play with. Albus is sort of a genius in his own way. And Lily? Well she's kind of cute but-"
I wasn't sure if he was simply stating his opinion or if he was trying to rile me up, but if he was trying to get me angry it worked. I didn't even know why I thought to do it. Or how it even worked but point is it did.
With all the energy in me, my spirit charged toward my body. It was the weirdest feeling ever. Like I could feel every inch of my skin, and my insides, as I was going back it. Code was so shocked that I was able to do it that he stumbled backwards. Sensing his moment of weakness I tackled him to the ground. I held the wand I was holding to his throat.
"Tell me how to get out of here!" I shouted waving my wand threateningly at his neck.
All he did was laugh. "My opinion of you hasn't changed, Hugo. I still think you're weak. Seriously, we're in your head and you can't even beat me."
"I'm the one with-"
Before I could even finish my sentence I was flung off Code's body. I crashed into a tree and hit my head hard.
"I have the ultimate power, Hugo. For I am strong and you are weak."
He began to approach me slowly. Maybe to inflict fear or maybe to savour his moment of victory. My head was throbbing and I saw little dots everywhere I looked. When I tried to get up my vision went black for a few seconds.
"He's right about one thing, Hugo," said a voice to my left. I knew it would hurt my head to turn and look at the person but I didn't have to anyway. It was the voice of the ginger man. "This is your head. You can do anything."
Suddenly Code snapped his head in the direction of the voice. "I thought I finished you," he growled. Before he could make a move the man was gone.
I didn't exactly know how to do… well how to do anything. I had never learned the power of mind reading or travelling or whatever you called it. Code clearly had. He had the upper hand.
But it's your head I insisted.
And so I took a deep breath feeling foolish and thought really hard. I want to leave I said in my head. I want to get out of my mind.
I repeated it over and over again thinking as hard as I could. Just when I was about to give up, when Code was a mere step away from me the world turned completely black.
(Albus)
I didn't exactly have a plan. I was pretty sure everyone knew that too. But I was the oldest. James wasn't here which meant I was supposed to step up. Even after last year when I saved James from Tantibus I still felt like I couldn't do… leadership as well as my brother. Like in any situation he would save the day more times than I would or could. I couldn't do it, not like him.
But I had to try. For my sister. For Hugo. To defeat Code once and for all- though if it hadn't happened after four years of trying I was starting to doubt it ever would. Still, I had to have faith. Have hope. It was really the only thing keeping me going.
As Jacob, Lucy and I moved stealthily towards the building I kept turning back looking for Lily. I was worried about her. I felt like I was sending her to her death, felt like I was sending all four of these thirteen year-olds to their deaths.
I motioned for Lucy and Jacob to stop as we hid behind some bushes.
"How are we going to get through the gates?" whispered Lucy.
I pulled a long stick out of my pocket. "This is called a transport stick. It's like apparating except it only works for short distances. Like if there's a locked door and you want to get on the other side."
"Okay," Jacob said, sounding completely calm and collected. "That sounds like it's exactly what we need, why do you sound so worried?"
"It's one of Uncle George's newest products," I explained. Lucy nodded understandingly. To Jacob I added, "Not all his products are what you would call safe."
Jacob grabbed the stick from me. "What better time to test than the present right?"
I tried to stop him but he grabbed the stick and yelled "transport". I decided not to ask how he had figured out how it worked.
When Jacob appeared on the other side he started barfing. It lasted about a minute. He wiped his mouth. "It's good," he said. He started looking around. "Do you think I'll trigger an alarm if I pass the stick back to you?"
I shook my head. "Just throw it up in the air and say transport. It will go back itself."
Jacob did just that and the handy device, landed at my feet. After five minutes both Lucy and I were fine and ready to go.
"How do we know it doesn't have any other side-effects?" asked Lucy, sounded only slightly nervous.
"We don't," I mumbled. "That's why I was supposed to use it, and open the gate from the inside." I stared at Jacob accusingly.
He shrugged. "You go down, we all go down."
Lucy nodded her agreement.
I sighed. It was going to be hard saving Hugo with two adventurous kids who didn't seem able to follow rules. Which was odd, because Lucy was always one to follow rules. I wonder what had changed that…
I looked around again but I couldn't see Lily. Or Frank. I hoped they were okay.
It didn't take long until we reached the actual house. "If they had any enchantments on this they must've taken them off. Otherwise Hugo and even Code wouldn't have been able to enter."
I tried to speak like James did when he was stating his opinion. As if I was sure of myself. I avoided using the words 'probably' and 'I think' despite the fact I only half believed what I was saying.
"So we're just going to walk right through the front door?" Jacob questioned, heading in that direction already.
I grabbed the back of his shirt. "Yes. The point is to startle him. Make him come to us. Then we'll outnumber him. We duel, distracting him while Lily and Frank free Hugo. But," I warned, "That doesn't not mean you go ahead of me. Or barge in there like you own the place. Do that and out entire plan is ruined."
I said this as if it was no big deal but on the inside my mind was running through the gazillion possible ways this could go wrong.
Jacob and Lucy took their places behind me as we approached the house, no longer hiding. Not for the first time, I wish we had the Invisibility Cloak with us. Still, we could do this. I was sure of it.
"On the count of three I want each of you to grab one of the door handles and pull it open. I'll go in first, and you two cover me. If we have to cast any spells right away do your best for a quick offense but do not forget about defense. That's usually everyone's biggest weakness."
"Is it Code's?" asked Lucy.
I shook my head. "As far as I know Code has no weakness."
I had clearly downed the mood. We all just stood for a second letting the difficulty of this mission dawn on us.
Shaking off the bad feelings I whispered "Alohomora" and motioned for Lucy and Jacob to grab the doors.
When we barged in and no one was there. I have expected for Code to be waiting for us, firing spell after spell. But it was just an empty entrance hall in front of me.
I looked back at Lucy and Jacob, trying to hide my anxiousness from them. "We're heading down to the basement. Follow me and keep your wands up."
I did my best to look like I knew where I was going. But truthfully had no idea where Code was and I didn't know how to get to the basement.
The house was huge and I checked every door, telling Jacob and Lucy that I was just making sure Code didn't have any surprises stashed away for us. Really I was just trying to figure out which damn door led to the basement.
Finally I found a door that lead into a dark room with the tiniest bit of light showing. Good sign right? Depends on if you're talking about chances of surviving or catching the bad guy.
"Okay, we're here. The plan is to rush down the stairs and duck immediately. Or cast a shield charm. Whichever you think you can do faster. Point is he'll hear us and attack before we can even think of a spell. And remember if you have time two spells is always safer."
"If we rush he'll hear us coming and…" Lucy began quietly. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "what if he kills Hugo before we get down there?"
I shook my head. "Ryan Code is not a murderer. He's had many opportunities to kill all of us and he hasn't yet. If he wants anyone it's James, which is why it's better he didn't come with us today. Trust me Hugo will be fine and so will we."
Neither Jacob nor Lucy questioned me further. Even though they didn't voice it I could tell they were still wondering the same thing I was: if he wasn't a murderer then why were we so scared? Why were we being so cautious? I ignored the question and didn't voice an answer because I didn't have one.
I took a deep breath and started down the stairs. I realized after we started running that maybe slow and stealthy would have been the better approach. I had assumed the stairs would be creaky, since they were so old but they were almost eerily silent. I silently prayed that Code was alone and didn't have time to prepare any strategy. But knowing Code he already had one.
I followed my own rules when I reached the bottom of the stairs and ducked while doing a shield charm. Lucy and Jacob did the same. But it wasn't necessary. Like I suspected Code was there, but he wasn't firing spells at us. There was no indication that he was even alive except or the fall and rise of his chest. Code sat in a chair across from Hugo who was in the same state as Code. Hardly breathing, sitting in a chair except he was tied down unlike Code.
"Hugo," Jacob whispered quietly. He ran over to him. I almost scolded him then realized I couldn't blame him. My feet had already carried me halfway across the room too.
First I went over to Code. I checked his pulse just to be sure he was alive. He was but he was still not breathing properly. Lucy exchanged a nervous glance with me. "What's wrong with them?"
Then it dawned on me. "He's in Hugo's head. They're both stuck in there right now. I'm not quite sure how it works, but it's the most complicated form of Legilimency. When you literally walk around in a person's mind. I don't know how long Code's been doing this or how good he is but it's not easy to get out. And if he does… well he'll be seriously messed up."
"What about Hugo?" Lucy asked worried. Jacob left Hugo's side for a moment and put an arm around Lucy.
"I'm not quite sure what will happen," I said worriedly. I was trying to hide it but from what I knew about Mind-Walking it was very complicated and dangerous, especially if you weren't trained right. I really wasn't sure how Hugo would be if he got out.
"But?" Jacob said hopefully.
"But, er-" I didn't really have an answer but it didn't matter. Cause at that moment Hugo fell to the floor. The three of us ran to him. He began coughing violently, shaking as if he were being electrocuted.
"Hugo!" Jacob shouted. "C'mon Hugo!"
And then it just stopped. For a second is was completely silent, like the entire world froze. And then Hugo sat up.
There was fear in his eyes. He looked around wildly before reaching out and gripping my arm hard. "Albus, thank god it's you. We have to go, now."
"What? No, Hugo you have to rest for a minute." I put a hand on his shoulder to stop him from moving but he struggled against it.
"Now, Al, now!" he shouted. "Hurry!"
"Hugo you need to-" Lucy started.
"No! She's coming, they're both coming!"
I would've kept insisting he rest except the pure terror in his eyes was plain scary. He looked like he would never be right again. For his sake I tried to swallow my fear.
"Okay, let's go," I decided. "Jacob go get Lily and Frank."
I moved to stand up but it was too late. When I turned around the knife was already pointed at my neck.
"I'm really sorry," Claire Code said. "But next time… well unfortunately there won't be a next time for you."
Code began to do the same thing as Hugo had done. It appeared Jacob was inching towards him and without even taking her eyes off me Claire said, "Don't even think about it. You move Al dies."
I thought for a minute, trying to think of a plan. I had my wand in my hand which she hadn't noticed. But it wasn't pointed at a good angle to do anything and I was pretty sure she could push that knife into my throat before I could cast a spell, silent or not. Lucy and Jacob didn't have their wands in their hands and wouldn't be able to reach for them in time. And Code was gaining consciousness. We were screwed.
Then I suddenly remembered. Lily and Frank! They were hiding somewhere waiting for a good opportunity to help us.
Ryan code stood up. "I see our guests have arrived." Code smiled his evil smile.
He didn't seem fazed like Hugo at all. It seemed more like he'd just woken up from a good nap. Without any hesitation he cast a spell that bound up Lucy, Jacob and Hugo. Claire backed off and Code tied me up too.
So they had been expected us. And Claire had been here. It's not like I forgot about her but it didn't really occur to me that Code would let her help. She wasn't even a wizard and if I hadn't been so stupid she wouldn't have been able to capture us. But I guess that didn't matter because I had been so stupid.
"You're probably wondering where your friends are," Claire said. "Well, let's just say they're not coming to rescue you."
"Did you kill them?" Code asked sharply. Claire just giggled. "Did you?"
"Maybe," Claire said in a singsong voice.
"If you killed her, Claire, I'll make sure your death is ten times more painful-"
I clenched my fists really tight. If she had killed Lily and Frank… well I'd make it out of this. I would devote my entire life to killing Claire Code. And if I died, I would haunt her for life become one of those ghosts that killed people in the muggle movies.
Claire rolled her eyes. "Relax, I didn't kill her."
I hadn't realized I was clenching my teeth and holding my breath until then. I relaxed a little but not much. How was I supposed to know she wasn't lying? And even if they weren't dead who's to say they were okay?
Code shoved his sister. "That's not funny, Claire!" he barked.
Claire was on the floor now, laughing. "Sorry, sorry. But you should've seen the look on your face!"
"You're sick!" Jacob spat at her.
Claire's laughter stopped abruptly. "What did you say?" She slowly advanced on Jacob twirling the knife in her hands.
"I-I said you're sick." His voice shook slightly as he said the words and I knew this conversation reminded him of his brother.
"I know who you are," Claire said suddenly, a sadistic grin appearing on her face. "You're the one who used to be friends with Marlo. The coward who gets beat up all the time."
Jacob was silent.
"Aw, what's the matter? Baby can't fight for himself. Suddenly all quiet? Ha, you're ever more pathetic than Marlo said you were."
Marlo… he knew we were coming here. He knew where Claire and Code were, knew we were walking right into a trap and he didn't say anything! He could've warned us. I made a mental note to destroy him to if we ever got out of here.
Jacob opened his mouth to say something but closed it.
"What if I attacked her?" Claire walked over to Lucy. "How would you react if I just…" Claire dragged her finger across her throat. "Would you be okay with that?"
"Don't you dare touch her," Jacob growled.
"Tell you what," Claire began. "I'll get Ryan to untie you and then I'll give you a chance to fight for her life." She jerked her head at Lucy.
"Claire that's a bad-"
"Shut up, Ryan, and untie him!"
Ryan did it and Jacob was released. Immediately Claire slapped him across the face. Jacob looked at her shocked. This time she made a fist and hit him hard enough to make him stumble. She advanced on Lucy. Jacob recovered and attempted to tackle her from behind but she dodged and Jacob crashed into a wall.
"Pathetic," she said kicking him. "Pathetic little cowardly idiot." She kicked Jacob over and over again. "I'm surprised you aren't dead yet. You're so weak."
After close to five minutes of kicking Jacob she left him alone. He tried to stand but couldn't. He was bleeding from his nose, his mouth and a cut on his hand. One of his arm was bent at an awkward angle and what little bare skin I could see had bruises forming.
Claire approached Lucy with the knife. It was an inch from her throat when the red light flashed and hit Code. This distracted Claire for a minute and then the red light hit her too. From the shadows emerged the figure of none other than Harry Potter.
"Dad!" I cried.
Dad flicked his wand unravelling the ropes binding both me and Lucy. I ran over to give my father a hug. He hugged me back and then tended to Jacob's wounds.
"Okay," Dad called. "You can come out now."
From around the corner Lily and Frank came running. Lily hugged me tight and Frank did the same to Lucy. For a minute it felt like everything might actually turn out alright. It only took a little while for me to realize how wrong I was.
(Jacob)
"Thanks," I mumbled as Harry healed me.
"You're welcome."
"What are we going to do with them?" asked Albus poking Code with his toe.
Harry frowned. "We can't take them to St. Mungo's or the ministry. There would be too many questions asked. Just leave them here, I guess. There's nothing else we can do."
Albus nodded and walked away from Code. "You kids go to the fireplace. We'll floo out of here," Harry said. "Help Hugo, Lily."
"I'm fine," Hugo said as Lily swung his arm around her neck.
Lily, Hugo, Al, Frank, and Lucy headed out of the basement. Harry kept a hand on my shoulder.
"I need to talk to you."
I did my best not to cringe. I knew he had heard Claire talk about my brother. I had tried not to react but I couldn't help but feel weak. Claire had beaten me. She was a little girl, nine or ten, and she had beaten me up just like my brother did. It proved what he'd said all these years that I was a weak little coward. I didn't deserve the life I was living and I should just go live with Jonathan. It's what I deserved.
"I grew up in an abusive home," Harry began. "My Aunt, Uncle and cousin."
"Yeah, you're cousin is Max's dad," I recalled trying to avoid the subject of me.
"Yes, we made up now. I occasionally go there for dinner but I'll never truly be able to forgive them for what they did."
"What did they do?" I asked.
Harry shrugged. "If I tell will you?"
I shrugged back. "I dunno."
"They made me sleep under the stairs for ten years. Dudley, my cousin, used me as his punching bag. He humiliated me at school, made sure I didn't have any friends. That sort of stuff."
Harry waited for me to share something. "My brother did the same," I muttered quietly. "Marlo Green was the only friend I had before Hogwarts and he betrayed me."
"How did he betray you?"
"He just left me," I responded realizing I sounded like such a brat. "He's the one who told me I was a wizard. Said it was a good thing. So I told my parents and my brother. They didn't think it was such a good thing."
"Is that when he started abusing you?"
I didn't like the word. I squirmed away from Harry. "It's okay to be afraid, to-"
"I'm not afraid," I snapped, more venomous than I meant to.
"Okay, okay," harry said putting his hands up. "I'm just saying you don't need to be embarrassed about it. You can tell me. I promise I won't tell anyone. I'll just listen."
I sighed realizing I wasn't getting out of here until I talked. "It wasn't too bad at first. I mean they all hated me, except my sister she was only four she didn't know what hate was. They yelled at me, hit me occasionally but nothing I couldn't handle. I set my teacher's hair on fire one day and Jonathan beat me up badly for the first time. The next day I found a dog and brought it home. When I came home from school the next day I discovered my father had put it down.
"That's when I realized they didn't truly care about me. It's not like I had any friends at that point but I stopped talking to people completely. I became bitter and withdrawn. I was just scared any type of relationship would hurt me the way my parents did. The only person I didn't totally give up on was my sister. One day… well she was being threatened and let's just say I over reacted majorly."
Harry raised his eyebrows but didn't comment.
"That's when my brother decided to make my life complete hell. Starved me, locked me in the closet, made sure I could never escape. He never forgave me for what I did. I guess I couldn't expect him to. But my sister… I did it for her and she hates me because of it now. Despises me. She won't even talk to me."
Harry nodded. "Have you tried telling her you never meant to hurt her? That it was an accident?"
I shook my head. "It wasn't an accident though. I mean… if I could go back I can't even say I wouldn't do it again. I'm a bad person, Harry, a bad-"
"You are not a bad person," Harry scolded. "You are a bright, smart boy with a great personality."
"Yeah, well can you tell that my brother and sister?"
Suddenly Harry become tense and dead serious. "I promise I will do everything in my power to make sure he goes to jail. Him and your parents."
I laughed bitterly and knowingly. "That might not be easy as you think."
"Well, it wasn't as easy as you might think to survive the killing curse multiple times but I did that didn't I?"
I laughed even though it was slightly forced.
"C'mon let's get back to the house."
We went through the fireplace and the first thing I saw was Alice standing there as if she was waiting for us.
Harry appeared seconds after me and she wasted no time. "James has been arrested."
A/N: Another chapter and another on time update. Hooray!
1: What's you guys think? Good? Bad? Predictions? Questions? Tell me in a review or a PM,
2: QotC: I am really curious what do you guys think happened to Harry? Do you think the Harry that came to save Al, Lily, Jake, Lucy, and Frank is the real Harry? Or do you think there's still something wrong with him? If any of you actually get the right answer to what's up with Harry I'll award you with a prize. Like a free spoiler, a chapter update, a one-shot or chapter written in your honour. Or something else you can think of. But only if you tell me your guess before I update the new chapter, that way I know you didn't just cheat and find out the answer by reading the next chapter first.
3: Next update should be March 14. HOWEVER it might not be. I may or may not be going on vacation as it is March Break. Depending on where I go I may not have my laptop with me and therefore will not be able to post. If I know in advance I won't be able to make that update I'll update before I go on vacation. but if I don't get enough notice or I end up going too soon and don't have the chapter really in time I'll update afterwards. The update will be no later than March 20th, possible even earlier.
4: What happened to Hugo was Legilimency. A powerful form of it. I believe Al mentions it. Mind Walking. Where you literally go inside someone's mind and walk around through their memories or what not. you have to be very experienced to do it. However Code took this a step further and not only walked through Hugo's mind but messed with it greatly. His goal was to try and find this wand he speaks of. When I think of the mind I'm imagining different sections. And imagine these sections have giant borders or gates between hem so they're preventing from meeting. So the sections are your emotions like happy, sad. Another section is your memories. The last is your thoughts. Now imagine the barrier between emotions and memories is broken. So the emotions run free through the memories. So every memory is now being influenced by the emotions. So for example, when Hugo saw the black eyed monsters in the park? That was Fear taking a happy memory and mixing it with a nightmare. And most importantly this is all made up. Including the Mind-Walking part. So anyway this is getting long if you have any questions review or PM me.
5: One questions I've been getting lately is what's wrong with Claire Code. As in why is she so evil. Well, like Code she lost her sister. And I'm not sure if I mentioned this but their mother got depressed after the death of Lauren (Code's sister) and ended up dying. So that impacted her. Caused her to become very bitter. The only role model she had was Code who goes on and on about revenge. It's not like Filch even cared about her much. He became old and bitter after Lauren's death too. So yeah. The Codes will be explained in more depth later on in this book.
Was the bald ginger man Grandpa Weasley? If so does this mean he's alive or dead? What wand does Code speak of? Does Hugo truly have it? Will Hugo be all right after this experience? Will any of them? Why did Code freak out so much when Claire claimed to have killed Lily and Frank? Is Marlo Green evil or good? Will Harry succeed in helping Jacob?
