85. The Underwater City
They both seemed so close to the fire skies:
him with burning treasures at his hands and she
with the temper she kept wrapped beneath her skin
but they had an underwater city to share
with each other: that secret sunken place
no-one else could know
where her looks didn't matter,
where her heart was shown to all
And all was him, whose own face was marred
with braveness and whose heart was strong enough
to even withstand the salt-water tides that threatened
to crush their home; he stood like an undrifting stone in the way
and let the water split, so their little underground city
still lived.
