Ginny finished the letter, her hands shaking with excitement about it all, she couldn't wait for her best friend to know her news: that she was with Harry, he had finally noticed her. She looked across the Common Room and caught his eye, he smiled and gestured her over. She tucked away the letter, spare parchments, quill and ink into her bag and went across to him.
"Hey you," He smiled reaching up as she leaned down, they kissed.
"Ew. Gross. Do you two have to do that every time?" Ron moaned, who was sitting opposite.
"Yes actually," Ginny said not moving from Harry, she kissed him again. "It's pretty good, wouldn't you agree Harry?"
"I would," He smiled, but his eyes flittered across to Ron's face worried about aggravating his best friend.
Hermione sitting next to Ron followed her eyes and scolded him. "Let them be happy Ron!"
"Anyone fancy a walk?" Ginny asked. "I've got a letter to send." Harry stood up immediately, discarding the essay he needed to finish.
"I'll come."
Ron followed his eyes. "Of course,"
Harry took her hand and looked at them, "See you."
"You behave," Ron said only half joking, an eyebrow raised at Harry.
Ginny scoffed. "Shut it Ron! We'll do whatever we want." She rolled her eyes as Ron looked scandalised.
"I'll tell Mu-," He began.
"Oh shut up." Ginny said, leading Harry towards the portrait hole.
They walked slowly through the castle enjoying each other's company. "So who' s the letter to?" Harry asked, a question that Dean may have asked months ago, which would have sounded like an accusation but from Harry only interested.
"Just Tonks." She shrugged.
"OH," Harry smiled. "That's nice." He paused. "I wish I had someone to write to outside of Hogwarts…" He trailed off. Ginny squeezed his hand, he shrugged. "Just since Sirius died, y'know. And Lupin's busy…"
"He's more than busy." Ginny admitted. "He's depressed."
"Depressed?"
"He keeps telling Tonks he's not good enough for her, but they're in love, it's very upsetting for them both. He thinks because of his issues that he shouldn't be with her, that she deserves better than a werewolf."
Harry pulled a face. "It makes no difference! Did Tonks tell him that? Surely she doesn't care-!"
"She told him it doesn't matter, but he won't accept that she loves him regardless of his furry little problem."
Harry sighed, "He is such a good man. He deserves to be happy. He should have stayed on at Hogwarts, he lets this ruin his life choices…"
"You don't understand Harry, you can't. Being bought up with muggles you don't know the stigma against werewolves that we're bought up with. Even my parents taught me to be wary."
"But Remus-,"
"Remus is the exception." Ginny agreed.
They had reached the winding staircase just on the outside of one of the tallest towers, which lead to the Owlery. Harry gestured for Ginny to go first and she began the slow climb up the stairs to the main room of the Owlery.
