Sabrina slipped in the growing puddle of water, stumbling down to one knee, before finally lunging toward the broken window. She already knew what she would see even before she looked outside. She had heard the sound of Anna's body hitting the ground, a loud, solid thump that was still ringing in her ears. Still, she leaned outside and, in the shadows, was just able to make out Anna's sprawled unmoving figure, a shock of white against the darkness, the flashlight lying several feet away and illuminating a pile of rusted debris by the side of the building.

"Goddammit." Sabrina swore to herself, pulling her head back inside.

Jill and Kelly were standing behind her, Jill looking close to tears, still shaking, holding a handful of her sister's hair in one hand. She'd gathered it up off the floor and was clutching it desperately to her chest.

"It's not true." Kelly said, giving her friend a shake. "She... she was bluffing, like Sabrina said."

"And if she's not?" Jill said quietly, sniffling. "This is her hair. That was her flashlight, her leg was-"

"Your sister's fine." Sabrina said, taking Jill's arm. "C'mon. Let's get the hell out of here. We'll find her and Max and you'll see."

Numb with shock, the three women once more made their way down the hall towards the stairwell door. Without saying a word, Sabrina pushed it open, washing Irene in dim yellow light. This time nothing was said. The girls struggled down the steps, stepped over her body, and continued down towards the first floor.

Jill hadn't so much as breathed a word and, beside themselves with worry, Sabrina and Kelly didn't try to reassure her any longer. They'd find out one way or another in the next few minutes and whatever the outcome was, they'd have to wait until then to start coping with it.

Dazed and lost in deep thought, none of them heard the door to the stairwell open until it was too late.

Gunther's face appeared in the door and two guns immediately flew up to greet him.

"Stay where you are!" Sabrina snarled at him, her gun inches from his face.

Gunther's hands flew up the instant he saw the gun. They had caught him completely by surprise. His eyes were wide and frightened, bright blue saucers in his bloodied and bruised face. "Wait! No! I was just coming to-"

"Shut the hell up!" Jill's voice was gravely and held more anger than any of them had heard before. She was not the same girl from only two days prior. She wasn't even the same girl from this morning. There was a change. A new outlook on the evil of the world. If Kris was dead, if the worst was confirmed, Jill wasn't likely to be denied revenge twice. The barrel of her gun still shook, but at this close range, her state wouldn't have given Gunther any advantages anyway.

"No, you don't understand!" Gunther rambled, looking terrified. "I'm on your side here!"

The door behind him opened wider and another man's face appeared in the shadows.

"Whoa!" Max stumbled to a stop as he came face to face with the business end of Sabrina and Jill's guns. "Hey, don't shoot."

"Max, get back!" Kelly called urgently.

To their surprise, Max quickly stepped around in front of Gunther, blocking him from any trigger happy bullets. His brows furrowed and his face turned serious. "Put down the guns. He's here to help, not to cause any trouble."

As Max moved closer, Sabrina and Jill lowered their guns and, now focused on him and not Gunther, could see that his shirt was soaked in blood. His hands, his hair, his shoes, the legs of his jeans. Blood was everywhere.

"Max, did you...?" Sabrina asked quietly.

Max shook his head. "This isn't mine." His blue eyes, shining with concern, found Jill. "I don't know how to say it... Jill, it's Kris..."

Hearing her sister's name zapped all the remaining strength out of Jill's legs. "Oh my God," she moaned. Her knees buckled and, with an anguished wail, she sank down, sitting hard on the bottom step of the stairway. Kelly felt the blood rushing in her ears. She was vaguely aware of Jill sinking down beside her. Kris was dead? She could hear Jill sobbing softly and her first thought after the initial jolt of shock was to see to her, but Sabrina had already beaten her to it. She'd immediately gathered the broken blonde in her arms after her own startled cry. Kelly glanced at her two best friends, huddled together on the cold, hard staircase.

Then she saw red.

That wasn't the way it was supposed to be. That man should have died by her hands. Anna should have been shot by Jill's bullet. "No!" Kelly pounded on the door with her one good fist. "I should have killed them! You shoulda' let her do it!" She roared, half of her statement angled at Sabrina, though the two paid her no heed. Only Max and Gunther looked terrified by her outburst. "I... I should have been the one..." Kelly shut her eyes and Max grabbed her shoulders.

"No! Wait, no, no, no." He turned his attention over to Jill, dropping to a crouch in front of her and Sabrina. "Kris is alive, Jill. I promise you, she's alive. She's gonna be okay."

"What?" Jill dared to breathe, her head emerging from underneath Sabrina's neck. "Kris... she's alive? But Anna... she said she'd killed her. It's not true?" she asked desperately.

Max shook his head.

"Really, she's fine?" Sabrina wiped her eyes, not surprised tears had been falling.

Kelly took in a deep breath to compose herself. "What happened to her, then? Anna had her flashlight."

"Well, she's not fine. Anna did get to her, I'm not going to lie." Max explained, taking Jill's hand. "She stabbed her about three times, but you know Kris." He gave her a soft smile. "Luckily she's just as tough as her big sister. She was talking to me when the police got here and the whole time they were putting her in the car. Hey, she was even singing! She's gonna make it."

Sabrina and Kelly shared a look and relief filled the entire room.

With a deep shuddering breath, Jill buried her face in her hands and went still. Kelly had never seen her this way. She carefully crouched down by Sabrina to make sure Jill was alright. "Hey-" she started.

But Jill decided she'd had enough. She shrugged off her two friends and made to get to her feet. "No. I'm fine. Let's just go."

Kelly shot Sabrina a look. She wasn't fine. Revealing her face had also revealed that she was unable to stop the frightened tears she'd been fighting since hearing Anna gleefully announce her sister's death. Her eyes were red and her hands were trembling.

Sabrina tried to intervene. "Hey, we'll see Kris soon." She tried to reassure her. "Maybe sit down for once."

Jill let out a ragged sigh and used Kelly's shoulder to push herself to her feet. "I'm okay." She insisted. "I just need to go see my sister." She took a step forward, swayed and, deciding that she probably wasn't going to be much use anymore, Max stepped forward, wordlessly offering to carry her.

She rolled her eyes but was no fool. She was spent and with Max carrying her, they'd get out of this hell hole even faster. She nodded and her friend lifted her up. Jill grimaced as Max settled her in his arms and he knew she could feel the wetness of her sister's blood press into her own clothes. Neither made mention of it.

Behind Max, Gunther was still rooted to his spot in terror, both hands still raised high.

"So, what the hell is your story?" Sabrina growled at him, pocketing her gun.

Gunther flinched and carefully lowered his hands. "Like I said, I'm on your side. I want to help you."

"Help us? Kelly sneered at him as the group stepped out onto the first floor. "This is your fault we even got in this mess."

Gunther looked away. "I know. I do know that." He said quietly. "What I did... it can't be excused. This place-"

"This place?" Jill snapped at him from Max's arms. "You were a part of this place! Why are we trusting this guy? Do you even know what was going on in this pl-"

"No!" Gunther cut her off, his voice suddenly much stronger. "No, I don't want to know. I never want to know. It'll be hard enough living with myself as it is. But I can help you. I can fix this."

"Legally, he means." Max clarified. "He talked to Mr. Bosley. He got here a few minutes ago. He distracted the cops while we came in to get you. He's talking to them, I guess. I dunno, I didn't ask."

Sabrina raised an eyebrow. "Bos? He talked to Bos?" Her attention snapped back to Gunther. "You talked to Bosley?"

Gunther nodded quickly. '"Yes... I... I knew from what you told me that you were lady detectives from L.A. I just had to ask around. I told him you might be in trouble and when you weren't in your hospital room… well, I figured you'd come here." He gingerly rubbed his jaw, bruised from his encounter with Max earlier. "I tried to tell you earlier but… the two of you were… a little edgy."

Max side eyed him. He supposed he should feel sorry, but he didn't. Not a bit. "Yeah, well. Sneaking up on people in the dark isn't the way to get your case heard. Anyway, he can also testify on your behalf if it comes to that." He gave Kelly a nervous half smile. "So maybe Max Jr. isn't born in a prison infirmary."

Kelly looked away with a roll of her eyes, too tired to respond.

"I'll tell them I brought you here." Gunther continued. "I will. I can make it right."

"For us." Kelly muttered back. "What about the others? It's a little too late to make it right for the others."

Gunther shook his head. "I can't help them, no. But, I can help you. We have it all worked out. Me and Mr. Bosley and some cop. If you trust me."

"Bos is working with a cop!? What cop?!" Sabrina cried. With that she and Jill launched into an argument with him. Kelly tuned them out as she walked, half listening in silence. Trust Bosley? Maybe. But trust Gunther? Trust some cop who only knew what happened second hand?

The main entrance door was in sight now. They were going to walk out of Divinity's Reach together, in one piece. Kris was going to be okay. Her baby was going to okay. Everyone was going to be okay. They would all survive and get past this.

That in itself should have been a relief, but Kelly, though eager to get out of this place, found herself dreading doing so. There would be questions, there would be people in her face demanding her side of a story that she wasn't quite sure of herself.

And trusting Gunther and some cop with the rest of their lives?

Why did Bosley have planned? She hated not knowing, and had a feeling that before all of this was over, she was going to have to be forced into quite a lot of practice in sitting and letting someone else clean up her own messes.

There was nothing she could do but sit back and hope Bosley's judgement was right.

The officer that had taken Jill from Max and hustled her into the back of his cruiser finally stepped away long enough for Kelly to get a chance to check on her. Sabrina had wanted that chance as well, but at the moment she was being tended to by another officer. This was probably their only chance though, so Kelly took it.

"Hey." She whispered, ducking her head through the open backseat door.

Jill was laying across the backseat, huddled in a blanket. She opened her eyes and looked up in surprise at the sound of her friend's voice.

"How are you feeling?" Kelly asked, dropping her voice to a whisper for no particular reason.

"Like shit." Jill whispered back. She rolled to her side so that she was able to tilt her head up to talk to her friend. "They're taking me to the hospital with Kris. That guy went to tell his superior. You okay? Your hand?"

Kelly nodded, suddenly feeling her throat tighten. "Yeah, it's...it hurts. But, I'm okay." she managed. She forced a thin smile and reached inside the car to rub Jill's shoulder, a kind gesture that Jill returned by snagging the fabric of Kelly's shirt and tugging her closer. Jill found her hand and clutched it tightly. "Close call, huh?"

Kelly laughed. Jill was looking up at her, holding her arm at an awkward angle. She was crying, she'd probably never stopped and tears dripped down her cheek and onto Kelly's arm, dampening her skin. Kelly didn't know what to say, she hardly trusted herself to open her mouth without bursting into relieved tears. Kris was alive and all of this was over.

Luckily, Jill broke the silence. "Well, we made it."

It was awkward to lean in to give Jill a hug, but Kelly tried anyway."It's over," She whispered, forcing a reassuring smile as she spoke. "We're gonna be fine now."

"Yeah." Jill suddenly hid her face and hiccuped a sob. The past twenty four hours had taken alot out of her. She sobbed softly into the fabric of the seat cover and, not knowing what else to do, Kelly stayed where she was, holding her friend's hand for comfort. She could only have been crouching there for a few minutes, but by the time she felt a tap on her shoulder, Jill's sniffling had quieted.

"Miss, I need to take your friend now." The officer explained.

Kelly sighed and pulled herself away from Jill. Her friend was already out. She accepted the officer's help in climbing to her feet and watched as he shut Jill's door and climbed into the front seat. The cruiser's engine roared to life, the sirens blared, and Jill was gone. Kelly watched the car for a few quiet moments before making her way back to Sabrina, now perched on the hood of another car, her long legs dangling off the side. The officer who had tended to them was now gone, Kelly noted gratefully. She made her way to Sabrina, flopped against the cool metal of the car door and let herself slide to the ground.

"How is she?' Sabrina asked quietly.

Kelly leaned up against the car tire and closed her eyes. The swirling red and blue lights had been distracting enough from the second story window. Down here, in the midst of everything, with policemen running about and wailing sirens in their ears, the lights were downright nauseating.

"Okay, I think." she answered after a moment. "They took her."

"I figured they would. How you doing?"

Kelly sighed. Just how the hell was she doing? Her hand was wrapped tightly in someone's t-shirt, her head had stopped bleeding and she'd been able to clean off all of the blood that had been covering it half the night. She should feel better, she supposed, but she didn't. "I'm okay. You?"

"Fine."

The girls lapsed into a weary silence, Sabrina' long legs swinging back and forth, thumping periodically against the side of the car beside Kelly's head. It was a nervous tic, Kelly knew, but the rhythm was oddly calming to her. One of the cops had draped a blanket over her shoulders earlier and though it wasn't cold outside, being able to hide behind anything was a welcome relief.

"You sure you're okay?" Sabrina whispered.

Kelly glanced up at her. "Well, considering Kris almost died because of me... not really."

Sabrina shook her head. "Yeah, well, at least you didn't bring her. I did." She muttered. She tried to look upbeat though. "But, the cop that took care of Kris said that she has a good chance of... you know, making it."

"She'd have a better chance if we hadn't left the hospital." Kelly sighed.

Sabrina shuddered. There was no reasoning with her when she got like this. Their minds were all on Kris, but for Kelly's sake, she decided to switch gears. "I say we lawyer up. You know, when they come to talk to us. We don't know what Max or Gunther is saying to them. We shouldn't answer any questions."

Kelly let her eyes drift lazily up towards her friend. "Lawyer up?" she echoed flatly. "That's exactly what innocent people do, Bri. Great idea."

Sabrina ignored her sarcasm. "Look over there. You see those guys talking to Max and Gunther? I think they're about to head to us."

Kelly saw. The officers had been hovering around ever since their rag tag looking group had walked out of Divinity's Reach. Of course they'd had to step back to let the highest qualified person in the area make sure they were alright, as serious as Jill looked, but that had only bought them a little time. The two officers had settled for Max and Gunther instread, whisking the two men away before any of them could get a story straight between them.

Well, they'd get their opportunity to question herself and Sabrina in just a few minutes, Kelly was sure. She was about to ask Sabrina just what in hell they should say when a familiar figure shuffled into her sight.

"Sabrina... is that Bosley over there?" Kelly blurted out.

Sabrina's head popped up. "Where?" She stared at where Kelly was pointing and spotted him right off. There he was. Bosley, draped in a blanket, his hair a mess, escorted by another officer to where Max and Gunther were being questioned. The five men continued talking as Kelly watched curiously. Whatever they were talking about didn't appear to be making the detectives happy, but nobody was being lead off in handcuffs and so Kelly supposed Bosley was doing what Bosley did so well. Despite that, it was still nerve-wracking to watch. When his hand gestured toward the police car where they were sitting, Kelly felt her stomach tighten.

"I wish they'd told us what to say." Kelly whispered. "This is why I didn't want to involve the cops."

Sabrina shook her head. "It never hurts to have a little backup. Just trust him, Kell. Bos has never let us down."

Kelly sighed and pulled her blanket tighter around her shoulders. She felt numb, though no one had given her anything that would have caused it. By the time Bosley and two of the officers began making their way towards them, Kelly was too spent to feel anything at all.

Still, she managed a tired smile for Bosley as he approached.

"Hi, honey." Bosley sniffed in his garbled sick voice. He gave them each a quick, careful hug and stepped back to look them over. He made no effort to hide his frown. "Jill?"

"They took her." Sabrina muttered miserably. She flipped her hand. "To somewhere. I don't know. I guess wherever they're taking Kris."

Bosley nodded. "She'll be fine, you know. Don't worry. Kris is a tough cookie. Jill too."

The girls nodded and Bosley did his best to lift their spirits. He smiled playfully at them. "You both look awful, I hate to say."

Sabrina managed a grin. "Thanks, Bos. You too. Um... what the hell hap-"

Bosley straightened himself and clapped Sabrina on the shoulder to silence her. "Well, after what we've all been through, I suppose it can be overlooked." He nodded toward the impatient looking officer standing behind him. "These are my friends, Officer, the ones that got the call. This is Officer Meyers. I gave him my statement already."

Kelly and Sabrina had no clue what to say. The two women exchanged a look and stayed silent.

Officer Meyers had an odd look on his face. "You did." he answered, nudging his way past Bosley. "Ladies, if you're feeling up to it, I'd like to ask you a few questions too."

"Ask away." Bosley said, nodding solemnly. "They'll be more help than I would, definitely. I was locked in a room with Gunther the entire time, the poor guy. They really worked him over. I would've been next too. I owe these girls my lives. They came back for me, you know. Not every man has friends who would do that for him. I have five it seems." He sniffled loudly. "I'm a lucky man. Very lucky."

Sabrina couldn't help the look of confusion she felt her features twist into. Bosley had made a point to blurt that out for a reason. Was that their story? Sabrina checked herself and managed to catch Kelly's eye. Kelly had done a better job at hiding her confusion than she had. She held Sabrina's gaze for just a second and then looked away. So that was the story then? Bosley was there with them? He and Gunther were held hostage and they'd gone back not for a stupid gun but to save him?

It was only slightly less stupid than what had really happened, Sabrina decided. Was that really what Bosley was going with?

She looked up at Meyers, who had apparently missed her revealing facial expression. He was busy staring blankly at Bosley. After a beat, he cleared his throat and lowered the yellow notepad he'd just pulled out of his jacket. "Mr. Bosley, if you wouldn't mind-"

"Not at all." Bosley sniffed. "Go right ahead."

Myers dropped his notepad against the side of his leg in frustration. "Mr. Bosley… could you please wait over there, sir? I'd prefer to speak to them alone."

Bosley ran a hand through his already disheveled hair, mussing it further. He looked just awful, Sabrina noted. Exactly like he'd been up all night being held prisoner by a disgruntled madman. It was because he was sick she knew, but he sure was using it his advantage. She watched him shuffle back a few steps. "Oh, of course, of course. You know I'm a very lucky man. Very, very lucky."

"Yes…" Meyers sighed. "Very lucky." He took a deep breath and turned to Kelly. "Ms. Garrett, I have to ask… why didn't you inform the police about the hostage situation instead of taking it upon yourselves to come back here?"

Sabrina couldn't stop her eyes from darting down to Kelly in confusion. What were they supposed to say? What would happen if their answers contradicted what Bosley had told the police? She looked up and Meyers and then back to Kelly.

And why the hell wasn't Kelly saying anything?

She had just considered giving Kelly a good kick when she finally seemed to snap out of her trance.

"They said uh…" Kelly started slowly, looking suitably upset. "As we were escaping one of the nurses told me that they would kill Bosley if... if we went to the police. I believed them. So we didn't."

"I'm a very lucky man." Bosley said somberly, off to the side. Sabrina mumbled her agreement. Apparently, Kelly was doing just fine so far.

Meyers shot Bosley a weary look. "It appears that way." His hard stare returned back to Kelly. "You're lucky Officer Duncan called this in. We don't usually advise people to handle these situations themselves. For… these reasons."

Sabrina nodded, trying not to roll her eyes. "Yes, Officer."

"Old friend of yours, I'm told." Meyers smirked. His eyes caught something behind him and he waved. "Oh, here he is now."

Here?

"Here? What?" Dumbfounded, Sabrina whirled around and, to her horror, there was her ex-husband stalking towards them. His lips were pursed the way they were when he was absolutely livid, nearly bursting with rage, but couldn't yell or curse to let any of it out because they were in public or among friends. She'd put that look on his face many a time and knew it well.

"Hi, babe." Bill greeted her stiffly. He smiled like it was killing him to do so and gave her a hug. "You scared me. When I couldn't find you, I thought maybe they'd dragged you back here. I'm glad I called for back-up."

Sabrina didn't know what to say. "Uh, I'm glad too." She mumbled.

Bill draped an arm around her and turned to Meyers. "Hey, Meyers, are you done with them? I have a case opened in L.A. about all this shit and I'd like to ask them some questions myself."

Meyers looked irritated. "No, I wasn't done."

"Well, can you hurry?" Bill snapped.

Sabrina felt like her head was spinning. A look at Bosley told her that this, too, was part of their plan. Bill was the cop Bosley had named co-conspirator. She blinked and glanced downward at Kelly, having momentarily forgotten her when Bill showed up. One look at Kelly told her that had Betty White cartwheeled right by them at that very moment, dressed in a raincoat and singing "Sweet Caroline", it still wouldn't have been as shocking to her as seeing Bill Duncan lying to the police for them.

She nudged Kelly with her foot and, to her credit, Kelly managed to pull herself together.

With Bill there, the questioning went a bit smoother and by the time it was over, Sabrina was fairly sure she knew what had "really" happened since last night. The version according to Bill, Bosley, and Gunther anyway. Gunther had already told them all he'd needed to and was driven off. The officer who'd been questioning Gunther had ambled over once he was done and interrupted Meyers for the sole purpose of informing him of that fact.

They hadn't been given the opportunity to talk to Gunther after that and then he was gone, leaving them hoping that he could be trusted beyond their reach. That short interruption must have been of some inspiration to Meyers because not long afterwards, he'd decided the interview was over and, to the girls' dismay, could continue at the police station in town.

They must have said something right though, Sabrina thought, because when Bill offered to drive them there himself, Meyers had simply handed him his card with a parting "Just follow me out of here."

And now, joined again by Max, here they were with Bill Duncan, being led away from Divinity's Reach, now transformed from a construction site to a full blown crime scene.

It must have taken astronomical effort for Bill not to blow up before slamming the door shut, because the moment he did, the act dropped and the Bill Sabrina had divorced was back.

"Jesus Christ, this Charlie son of a bitch is a real piece of work, you know that?" He fumed, starting the car. "Something's not gonna hold water and I'm gonna end up flipping burgers at the McDonald's across the street from the station."

Bosley sniffed, looking quite comfortable in the front seat. "There are other locations, you know."

This had Bill bristling. "Oh shut up. Blackmail is illegal, I hope you know."

"Only if you're okay with me getting caught." Came Bosley's lighthearted response. He looked out the window. "Say, all that talk of McDonald's makes me hungry. I could sure go for a Whopper right now. Do you think...?"

"I'm not stopping!" Bill cut him off angrily.

Bosley shrugged and settled himself back. Sabrina was the only one that caught his wink in the mirror.

Bill grumbled under his breath and began maneuvering his way away from the hospital, past parked cars and piles of debris, toward Officer Meyers unmarked car. He followed a few lengths behind him, past the flashing lights and through the sagging chain link fence that separated this nightmare from the rest of the world.

"So," Sabrina piped up once Bill had stop cursing. "I guess we owe you one, huh?"

She saw Bill's eyes narrow in the rear view mirror. "Owe me one..." he echoed angrily. "Yeah, you're damn right you owe me one. This guy's got me lying through my teeth. Me and my men! I'll probably be springing for their beer until I'm retired." His eyes found Bosley and glared daggers at him. "Or fired for obstruction of justice. Yeah you're goddamn right you owe me one."

Sabrina leaned back, a half-smile on her face. "WeIl, I bet I can think of something."

Bill grumbled but appeared to be done ranting.

In the backseat, Kelly was still trying to work things out. "Bos, how… how did you know where we were?" she asked. "Sabrina didn't call you."

Bosley turned in his seat. "She didn't have to. You fell off the radar so I came to the hospital." He gave her and Sabrina an annoyed look. "After that run around you girls tried to give me, it wasn't too hard to put two and two together." He turned back around and made himself comfortable. "And while we're on that topic, I have a mountain of paperwork waiting back at the office due to my little vacation. Remember, you owe me one too."

Kelly actually felt herself smile. "Yeah, I guess we do. Thanks, Bos."

"Don't thank me." Bosley said cheerfully. He clapped Bill on the back, ignoring the bloody murder in the look that his friendliness inspired from the angry officer. "I couldn't have done it without Bill here."

Neither Sabrina nor Kelly particularly wanted to speak to Bill again. It was only the awkward silence that had Max shifting uncomfortably. "Uh, thanks, Bill. Officer…Bill."

Bill scowled at him through the mirror. "Yeah, thanks." He growled sarcastically. " Hey Bill, can you cover up the fact that two people are mysteriously dead inside this hospital we just left? I've got to be just the stupidest son of a bitch in the world. I may to keep you idiots from being arrested tonight, but if I were you, I'd ask your precious Charlie to hire you some damn good lawyers to argue this self-defense bullshit you're planning to stick with. Not a damn thing I can do for you if they make any of these charges stick, and I can guaran-goddamn-tee you that you'll be hit with something. I just can't fucking wait for the phone call tomorrow."

Kelly had stopped listening halfway through. "Two? Don't you mean three?"

"What?" Bill snapped.

Sabrina had caught it too. "You said two bodies."

"There were three of them, Bill." Kelly added.

Bill scoffed at her. "What, you kill so many people you lost track?" he grumped. "I said two, I meant two. Old lady and old man. Two. You don't have a quota to meet, do you?"

The two girls in the backseat shared a look of alarm.

"No, no, no. Go back!" Sabrina said. "You missed one. A young woman, mid to late twenties. She dove out one of the second floor windows. I saw her."

Bill slowed the car to a halt. "What the hell are you talking about?"

"There were three of them!" Kelly said urgently. She was scared now, leaning forward to grab the metal barrier between them. "Irene, the doctor, and Anna. She was the one that jumped out the window. They didn't find her?"

Now Bill looked upset. "The entire perimeter was searched." He answered her. "I was there. We didn't find anybody. Just the two inside. Are you su-"

"Yes, we're sure!" Sabrina cried. "She threw herself out of a window and died. I saw her!"

Bill caught her gaze in the rear view mirror. "Sabrina," he said finally. "I was there with them. We searched the entire perimeter."

"Then you had to have missed something!" Kelly snapped.

But, Bill shook his head. The expression on his face was completely unreadable.

"We didn't miss anything. All we found outside was a flashlight."
