Character Poems: the Chosen through Time
34. Daimon Suguru
He cannot content himself with a legacy
over which he has no control
Though he is proud
to see his son follow…
Still, tears fall from his eyes when he knows
that it is his name, not he, who guides
and the weakened pleas fall to his knees
that only a father understands.
His fists cannot fight, nor can the words
from his mouth; he made a bet on a world
he couldn't work, so far away and closed
and now he pays an unfair price for such a hope
But he hoped still, and he's proud now to see he's right,
that his son would make the change that he could not
And he'll guide from the shadows,
because even that is too much for him to do
but he is a father
And more than that, he is a protector
too.
