99. Long Lost Love

The deadly snakes of time could not take away the sting
of that long dead love: that rotting corpse that stunk
of soil and mass, bodily fluid long since bled into the soil
and whatever glimmer once in her eyes long gone.

It was a lonely love now, with a corpse he barely saw –
never saw, because how could a man like him go
to the graveyard covered in pure white snow.

He could inject his own veins with a needle full of deadly poison
but even that wouldn't drown the poison of that lonely love
with death.
